It's been quite some time since I've been here and I don't know why because I really like the food and the cocktails are amazing! I went (alone) at 4:00pm to grab a quick bite before a bread making class 2 doors down. Only one booth was occupied, so great timing! The young lady that sat me also was my server and she was so sweet, and knew the menu well. She also pointed out that although I had just missed the lunch deals (till 4:00 which is great) that Tiki Happy Hour was until 6:00 pm with certain cocktails at $9 instead of $13 along with several reduced small plates like $3 baja shrimp or fish tacos normally $5. Empanadas were included. I've posted pics of all the menus and the Tiki happy hour. I had my heart set on the garlic shrimp which is a regular appetizer served with garlic toast bc it was my favorite at one time. Of course, it still is scrumptious although the shrimp were ever so slightly over cooked. I also had the Colado de Pineapple and boy was it DELICIOUS so was the Havana mule that I had next . Literally we have been excited to come here for a while. FINALLY arrived & wanted a drink at the bar before being seated for dinner. The girl behind the bar had ZERO personality & had nothing to offer except a slapping menu in front of me. I asked what the best way to reserve a table was & she POINTED at the front stand & told me to, "talk to him". I went to "him" & he said they get busy (this is a Friday night) around 7:30 pm. This was maybe 6:45 pm so I asked for a table right away- we were seated in a cool table/booth in front of where the band would play. Literally sat there for 10 minutes & not 1 person acknowledged us. NOT 1!!! Servers clearing tables & made EYE CONTACT with me... still NOTHING. RUDE & ARROGANT servers!! My husband said we were leaving & started to get up. A server came towards us asking if we were ready... NOPE, leaving!!! Absolutely rude as heck & we were truly looking forward to our experience. We tried the ceviche for the table. It was extremely bland, but table salt helped. The steak with the chimmichuri sauce was delicious! It smelled so good one of my friends ordered it for herself. The service was good. Be warned if you're paying with tap, and the amount is above $49 you'll have to split it. I had to make 3 separate payments to cover the bill. That's a weird system! We stopped in to D'Floridian for the first time during Gwinnett burger week. We have heard great things about D' Floridian and their Oxtail soup, their tapas and the churasco Skirt Steak. I stopped here for a quick lunch and ordered garlic shrimp and two margaritas. The garlic shrimp was good and the margaritas hit me harder than I expected. Food is a 5 out of 10, with no stand out flavors and lukewarm . This place went above and beyond! We were looking for a place to get our crew of 12 and they told me no reservations on the weekends but we were coming at 5:30 and they said that would be perfect. Well little did we know when we came during this festival weekend in Lawrenceville that the restaurant would be packed and they still accommodated us with no wait!!!! Honestly it was stunning we had this huge high top. Our waitress was so patient and so nice as we were celebrating my grandpa's 93rd birthday. For our late lunch, my folks and I stopped by for a bite to eat and some summer cocktails. I ordered the Baja Tacos and had a Summer Breeze cocktail. Both delicious and made well. I've seen it get a little crowded here, but that's usually in primetime. We had no issue with seating around 2-3pm. Parking is easy enough. We came to this restaurant yesterday Sunday for the first time after passing by it a few times. We are Cubans and to our surprise Our waitress Jailin was also Cuban, she was simply AMAZING!!!. She was very attentive, professional and made our experience very pleasant. We even told the manager about her awesome service. I ordered the Guava DF which is an Infused guava tequila, fresh lime, agave nectar and it was really delicious. I actually had three of those but the very first tasted more like Guava than the other two. For appetizers we ordered the Ham Croquettes and Chicken Empanadas. We chose this place for Valentine's Day and unfortunately had a really disappointing experience. We weren't aware there would be live music, which would have been fine except the volume was unbelievably loud. It wasn't just "lively," it was blasting. The room is small, and with a baby with us, it quickly became clear it wasn't safe or comfortable. When we stepped outside, the windows were literally vibrating from the sound. What made it more uncomfortable was that a staff member came up to us and said, "That's bad for the baby's ears, you should eat and leave," and then asked if we had headphones for her. That was surprising, considering the issue was how loud the restaurant chose to make the music. We ended up asking for our food to-go, which was disappointing since we had planned to celebrate and enjoy dinner there. After leaving and taking a short walk, we noticed the music had stopped. We paid a significant amount for a meal we didn't even get to sit and enjoy and to top it off, half of our order was missing when we got home. Loveeeee finding really good Cuban food! I ordered the Vaca Frita meal which comes with rice, beans and plantains and it was delicious. The flavor of the Vaca Frita was on point, the meat was crispy enough without being dry and the beans was seasoned perfectly. The empanadas for my personal opinion were not great and I wouldn't order them again as the ground beef was a bit minced and I did not enjoy the flavor. However I'll be looking forward to trying some of the other tapas the next time we visit. The drinks!!! Both the D'Floridian and the coconut mojito (isn't on the menu but just ask for it) were delicious and strong! Just how it's supposed to be, the sizes of the drinks were good too as you only need one. The place gets pretty packed, we sat at the bar as we didn't want to wait for a table but the customer service was great and everyone was moving pretty quickly. Had a great time here for my birthday! Apparently the day I went was everyone's birthday including mine but they still had me feeling super special. I loved that they offered a complimentary shot or flan for the birthday person. My friend surprised me and had them bring me a shot. Since the house was packed service was a little slow but our waiter was still awesome and didn't look crazy overwhelmed. He was able to explain dishes for us and answered all our questions knowledgeably. He was even able to make a great referrals for dessert. Came here while visiting family, the food here is really good especially the ox tails! They were amazing! The sauce by itself was delicious! The garlic shrimp is a must as well. This is a really nice spot to eat or just to grab drinks and of course the best part for me they have outside seating! It was a little on the cold side so we ate inside. My only issue with the service was I ordered the wrong drink due to the picture on the menu. I don't drink tequila and that was the liquor of choice in the drink. My server as well as the manager told me I could not replace another drink for the one I did not like for a new one. They stated there was a non refundable policy on liquor, which is fine. I asked to see the policy in writing and the manager told me no. I ended up getting another drink which was a passion fruit Mojito and it was delicious. My Coast Guard brother was threatened to be hit by the waiter, Nicole, at D'Floridian today. She got in his face, punched 911 on her phone, smirked, and said, "I can call the police, and you know what happens after that" (I guess insinuating that the ICE could show up) all because she didn't like the fact that the fish I ordered tasted spoiled and I sent it back. The manager was nowhere to be found while this whole ordeal was happening and simply said, "Sorry, guys," when we told her what happened. Dined in on Labor Day, party size of 7. The larger tables were full of families so this would be a great place for groups. The dining area and bar were open and inviting and there was also outdoor patio seating at the front of the restaurant but we were seated within 5 minutes. Abby (sp.?) our server did well accommodating us and answering our questions. The pitchers offered for cocktails was a great value for our group and I enjoyed the hibiscus ginger margarita. While this was my first visit here this wasn't my first time eating Cuban cuisine. I had the empanadas and calamari for appetizers; the empanadas were great but I wish the calamari has more flavor. I ordered the ropa vieja and my dish was so flavorful and there was enough for me to eat for leftovers. I also enjoyed the maduros and tostones! The papa rellena we initially received was slightly burnt so we sent the original back and the replacement was perfect (the filling tasted similar to that of the beef empanada). My boyfriend ordered the T-Bone and it was cooked perfectly (the market price was $45 and he didn't ask our server beforehand) and his yellow rice and potatoes were delicious at time of dining and the next day. There was a lot of table sharing and everyone enjoyed their food (I'd also recommend the oxtails)! My biggest complaint was lack of pricing things before hand (including the steak). Over the course of our meal we asked for additional sauces (garlic, chimichurri, etc.) and didn't know they cost extra until we received the bill. I think my biggest shock was the charge for paying with a credit card. I don't think I've been to an establishment that offers a discount for paying with cash and wish I'd know that information beforehand.
