It's an alright Mexican restaurant. I wasn't impressed. Honestly, it was a bit depressing in here. I was kinda put off when we came in and the young girl that was the hostess had the waiter help us, but then she took the menus once we said for two people. Didn't say a word to follow her or nothing. The waiter was like "oh follow her" when we followed her to the table she set the menus down and then just walked away, still didn't say a word..... I got the Vampiro tacos and they were not that great. Vampiro tacos are suppose to be juicy. This was dry. No flavor do it at all, which was crazy because it was loaded with pico and avocado... I had a disturbing and Islamophobic experience outside Frontera's Mexican Kitchen at 6555 Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth, GA. After picking up my order, a white female employee (whom other staff referred to as "Cathy") began shouting at me as I approached my car. She told me to "go back to my country," mocked my religious face covering, called me a "bitch" multiple times, and advanced toward me aggressively while screaming. I repeatedly stated, "If you touch me, I will defend myself," and remained calm. Staff eventually came outside, but instead of addressing her abusive behavior seriously, they asked her what was wrong. One even expressed concern that "this is going to be bad" -- seemingly more worried about public perception than the safety of a visibly Muslim woman being harassed.I later captured her license plate as she drove away. read more

Definitely recommend! The flavors and service were both excellent! I had the chicken burrito and it was amazing. My only con would be that the burrito was somewhat deconstructed, which I wasn't expecting. It said it came with tomatoes, lettuce, and sour cream, but they were all on the side which made it a little difficult to eat. Also, know that the burritos come smothered. I ordered a burrito because I thought it would be portable because I was taking it to-go to eat outside, but I couldn't pick it up because of the sauce. Not a bad thing at all (the sauce was really good), just be aware that the burrito is not the move if you're looking for something you can eat on the go. This place is still serving up great food! It looks great, fresh ingredients, nice cocktails, yummy salsa choices! I had the spinach quesadilla and it was stuffed full of fresh spinach, fresh mushrooms, tomatoes, green peppers, onions, and cheese. It was really delicious. All the taco choices are tasty, you can't go wrong here. The sangrita is a mix of sangria and margarita- it was fab! I'll order this one again. Kids get a free ice cream cone with their meal so be sure to ask for it. This place is pretty large and can accommodate lots of people. Music was playing in the bar on a Saturday night. I honestly didn't know there were many locations of this restaurant. I pass it by my house daily and I have lived here four years. This time I wanted to try a different place so I said let's give them a try. The wait was short and immediately after seated a waitress came. I must say the service overall is great! They are on it with the drinks, answers questions, and even received a new waiter due to shift change and the transition was smooth. I ordered the enchiladas and my daughter had the nachos. It was a 2 for $22 deal with a dip or dessert and entree. One thing that was disappointing was the nachos wasn't loaded and only had beef and cheese. We thought they would be fully loaded. We came here for lunch the other day. I've actually been wanting to check out this Fronteras, as I see it daily since I work across the street at Infinite Energy Center. My stepmom is a huge fan of the chain, and I've grown up loving Fronteras from when they first put one in Snellville. It used to be the hangout place after my dinner shift at Chilis while in college. It sits in the Kroger shopping center, on the corner left of Kroger (near Wells Fargo and Wendy's). Oddly, as much parking as there is here, the lot always seems to be busy and bustling. There is also a Luciano's in the same complex (both the Fronteras and Luciano's are operated by The Norsan Group, who also operate Pampas Steakhouse, AND Frankie's Steakhouse - which is across the street on the 3rd floor of the Gwinnett Chamber building). I'm glad the Norsan Group runs this location bc my meal was great! We were greeted and seated promptly at a table. It wasn't too crazy busy but they had a decent crowd in there for a weekday lunch. They brought out the chips and the two salsas, which they are known for. Both of the salsas were really good (they have a darker smoky salsa and a medium one). The medium one had a good kick to it. The chips were non greasy to the touch. I ordered a water and selected from their lunch special menu. Lunch specials here start at $7.95 I believe, which isn't bad for what you get. I ordered the two tacos and chalupa with rice and beans. Nothing fancy done to the dish, but it was soooooo good. I loved the tacos and the rice, and the cheese on the chalupa was creamy. Our server did decent. However, she was a little lacking on the water refills. Overall, a very good experience and only $10 with tip. I'm sure I'll be back again to this spot. read more

A Kroger shopping plaza which is great for parking and the restaurant was nice and clean, but me and my friend wasn't feeling the love at first as we waited at the bar for someone to serve use... - the drinks were weak ( we both got frozen margaritas with floaters) -We order steak nachos and they were gross! The steak came out extra big and chunky and welldone... And the cheese was cold. The bartender who ended up being nice tried to fix it by giving us a desert but I wasn't happy about the food. I've come here before & the food was ok. I always dined in. Today I ordered food To Go over the phone. I got fish tacos & queso dip. Multiple workers passed me without acknowledging me standing at the front ready to be helped. There were even 3 women employees infront of me that talked & laughed without giving me eye contact. Finally one asked if I'd been helped. I said not yet & She helped me. Ordered at 7:15p got my food at 7:45p. I get home & as I start to eat the fish tacos they are chewy & crunchy all the way through. I could only eat 1/2 of it because they were so bad. A wasted $17. Service is always pretty good here. Seems like the employees are always in a good mood and are joshing around with each other having a good time when not serving. Both times I have been here the wait staff was very good. Chips and a salsa come out ASAP, drink refills come quick. One time we had fajitas. these were pretty good. Nothing amazing, but pretty good. Another time we did the combo meals. Although some of the items like the "Chalupa" were pretty mediocre. Items like the enchilada and Tamale were good and the red sauce was solid for a combo meal. Basically, we have not tried some of their more authentic Mexican food. They do have some and I suspect it is pretty good. Our first time we went there was a bachelorette party going on. The waitstaff and the girls all seemed to be having a ball. Based on this I would say this place is great for groups. Also, the horseshoe bar in front looks like a nice place fro a drink. Additionally, they also have Dos Equis Amber on draft, which gives them more street cred in my book. For a place fairly close to home that is quick and around $20 for two (without drinks) this fits the bill. read more

The charred or fire roasted salsa is really good! The staff was very attentive and friendly. Even the bartender came to the table asking if our pitcher tasted ok. We were going to an event at Gas South Arena. We originally made a reservation at a restaurant further away. However, on the oft chance that they might have available space, on Sunday I called the restaurant to inquire about a reservation for 5 people at 6 pm (show was at 7:30). The person who picked up the phone had someone else speak to me and he said they could accommodate us at 6 pm. I gave him the reservation information. At about 5;50 pm, our first guest arrived only to be told they had no record of a reservation and it would be a 40 minute wait. My guest asked to speak to the manager so they went to get him but he refused to come talk to my guests. We all had to scurry to find a place to dine. Instead of rectifying their mistake, they basically told us to go f--k off. What a terrible restaurant. I have dined at Frontera before but never will again. I always thought it was serviceable, food-wise, nothing great, not bad but with its proximity to the arena, that was the motivation for dining there. I lived in Texas for 25 years so I have had great Tex-Mex and Frontera is serviceable food wise but no where compared to the Tex-Mex I had all the time, in Texas. Thus, if you are simply a serviceable venue, you can't afford to add terrible, insulting and nasty employees and service to the mix. However, that is precisely what Frontera did. Never again. Avoid this place. They seem to forget they are in the service industry. They need a refresher course in what that means. read more

I just moved here from California, which of course has plenty of amazing Mexican food restaurants. This one was great too!! I was so glad to find it. Thin, crispy chips and fresh salsa. I like salsa on the more liquid side, rather than more chunky like pico, so I really liked it. I ordered 3 chicken enchiladas with green sauce which were amazing. Rice was also very tasty. I didn't get any beans, so I can't evaluate those. But I'm sure they're authentically yummy just like everything else I had. Also fast take-out service!! Two thumbs up. Will be back!! read more

I have been to multiple Frontera locations over the years, and this was by far the best I have eaten at. We ate at the Duluth location for a work luncheon. There were eight of us and we were seated right away on a Friday at 11:45. The place did get more crowded after we were seated. They served hot fresh chips and two salsas. One was a traditional tomato salsa and the other is a smoked chipotle salsa. Both were very good with the chips. We ordered cheese dip and it was a yellow based cheese rather than the traditional white cheese I usually have. The cheese was hot and was also quite tasty. I ordered a combination of two ground beef enchiladas, rice, and beans. The enchiladas had a lot of melted cheese with a good red sauce. The rice and beans complimented the meal and was good with the chipotle salsa poured over the top. The waitress was great and provided really good service for our large table on a busy Friday. read more

*****UPDATED***** Yesterday after my visit to Frontera I spoke with the DM Mauricio about my experience. He was very nice and apologetic and wanted to rectify the situation with a $15 giftcard. Later on yesterday evening I got a call from Juan, one of the managers. He was also very sorry and offered me a meal on the house for my next visit with the gift card. I went back today and was greeted by the GM David. He made sure that I was very well taken care of. My server was Carlos. He was wonderful and my meal was A+. Although I did not receive my gift card, I am most appreciative of the managers rectifying this situation. I appreciate them taking the time out to hear my complaint and seeing what they could do to make this customer happy. This shows that the restaurant truly values the customer service and feedback. Like I've stated, I have years of hospitality experience so it was never really about the money or the charges but more about the treatment of customers and coming up with solutions to keep everyone happy. I get back to work, about ten minutes away, and see that it is the wrong kind of chicken. I couldn't call the restaurant because their phone was down. I go back and tell the same employee that my order is wrong and that I would like to be compensated for that extra charge. I wait no longer than 10 minutes and she comes out with the correct order and I remind her that I would like to be compensated for that extra charge. After a few back and forths trying to get the correct charge, she voids the ticket and apologizes. As I am leaving the restaurant she stops me and tells me that since she voided the original I still have to pay for the new one...I was thinking that I was compensated for the inconvenience. I give her back my card. She swipes my card and then tells me to wait because she needs the manager. I waited over ten minutes (the chicken is juicy and there are cold toppings on top of it. so by now it's probably cold & soggy). Eventually a manager comes out, does something on the computer and says that it's already been voided and I was good to go. This means that the other employee was trying to charge me for something that was already voided per THEIR MISTAKE and I did not have to pay again. So as you can guess, I'm really frustrated. I ask them why am I still here and why have I been waiting for the past 10 minutes and now my food is cold. The employee that was serving me tells me that it had already been voided. I knew this, we already discussed this. My problem was why I still had to wait if I didn't have to repay. The manager apologizes and offers me a drink. I don't want anything so I just say thank you and leave. An hour of my day was wasted for a simple mistake and I DO NOT like the way that employee went about it. For lunch I had a cold, soggy, falling apart crazy taco. PS: I've worked in a restaurant (Chili's Bar & Grill to be exact) for nine years.
