We have NOT had a bad meal here. Most recently we enjoyed dinner here and it again did not disappoint. The wait staff is always on top of keeping our drinks filled and getting anything we ask for. They also have a great breakfast menu and options. There is street parking and a small parking lot nearby, There is also a rooftop seating option/bar on the weekends. Lots of places to check out around this area on foot before or after your meal.

This would be the first time I've visited a restaurant in Ennis. It was my mother in laws birthday so we decided to stop by. We came on a Saturday around 1ish pm. Party of 7 (4 adults,3 kids). The wait wasn't too bad but I will say the hostess was trying her best to keep up with everyone. There was so much confusion on parties because the hostess would write one name and then two other people would come by and try to find tables for other people. Idk what was going on. Staff Friendliness was ok. I will admit the wait for a party of 7 wasn't too bad maybe 10 min. The issue we had after was our waitress. Idk if she was new or what. My husband and I ordered the pineapple cucumber margarita (which were ok, had like a weird after taste) and my mother in law (MIL) ordered some other margarita. She brought out only mine and my husband and forgot about my MIL drink all together. (Note it's her birthday ) so she was not happy at all. We all ordered our food. My husband and I ordered the fajitas for two. My kids had the kids enchiladas. She ordered the appetizers sampler I believe and my MIL husband ordered some tacos. Let's start with our food. The wait time wasn't too bad considering they were busy on a Saturday. The presentation was nice. The taste was ok. Our fajitas weren't too bad. The kids enchiladas were eaten up but my kids didn't like the rice or beans (which they love at most places). The tacos were ok. The sampler was big and she said she enjoyed most of it. Note, the waitress also has said she forgot her food but somehow it appeared? Idk maybe she forgot she had put it in. Idk. Again she wasn't very attentive at all to us. Overall the restaurant was clean and the environment looked nice. When it came time to pay she dropped the ticket off and forgot about us again. So we had to wait another 10 min for her to come back so we could pay and leave. Price wise it wasn't too bad, quality of food I'm still undecided but for now it'll be like a 3 out of 5 on it. Would I return I still haven't decided since the staff didn't seem too attentive or friendly so we will see.

First time, but definitely not the last! I stopped by From Scratch Daniels Kitchen in Ennis for the first time, and it was a great experience from start to finish. The bacon cheeseburger was absolutely on point -- juicy, flavorful, and cooked just right. The onion rings were crispy and golden, and paired perfectly with my Margarita, which was smooth and refreshing. You can tell everything is made with care and quality ingredients. The atmosphere was welcoming, and the service was great. Can't wait to come back and try more of the menu!

Great service but so expensive for breakfast! We split the Migas and the portion was on the small side.

Their salsa's with black bean dip. No bueno they use a lot of chipotle sauce instead of fresh tomatoes and peppers.

I had the carbonara, and honestly, it was almost too pretty to eat. The service was a little slow, but it actually gave us time to soak in the atmosphere and admire how beautiful the restaurant is inside. The vibe? Absolutely check. The cocktails were not our favorite, but that definitely won't stop us from coming back to try other drinks on the menu. What makes this place even more special is that it's a true mom-and-pop restaurant sourcing food locally. You really can't beat that. Supporting local while getting an amazing meal is always a win.

Pink and honest in the middle, warm and willing, bread holding it all together like a good road holding a long drive. Nothing flashy, nothing trying too hard just flavor that knew where it came from and didn't apologize. The arugula salad came sharp and clean, green with intent, that bitter edge that wakes you up a little and reminds you you're still alive. It wasn't there to impress you. It was there to balance things out, like a deep breath between sentences. I drank Earl Grey tea, steam rising slow, bergamot drifting up like memory, like train smoke somewhere far off. It felt right. The kind of tea you drink when you're not rushing anywhere, when the world can spin without you for a moment and that's okay. Fern in the Wild isn't trying to reinvent eating. It's doing something better. It's paying attention. To ingredients. To pace. To the quiet pleasure of a meal done right. I left feeling fed in more ways than one--like I'd stopped long enough to hear myself think. That's rare. That's worth something. I'll be back.

Wow! This was truly one of the best steaks I've ever had the pleasure of eating. The appetizers,…read moredeviled eggs and bacon-wrapped shrimp, were good. The Caesar salad was good, traditional, fresh, and the correct size. The garlic mashed potatoes were good. But the wagyu NY strip was just incredible. It was almost black on the outside and just warm on the inside, a perfect rare as wagyu beef should be. The meat was unctuous and delicious without being greasy or fatty. It was so richly umami flavorful, perfectly seasoned. It was just an excellent steak. The bourbon bread pudding was a huge serving and wonderfully flavorful. There was some nice bread to go with the meal too. The smoked old fashioned cocktail before dinner was excellent. And I got a nice Cabernet that perfectly paired with the steak. Our server was casual but friendly with a good balance of hospitality and service. This was truly a great dinner and one of the best steaks I've ever had... and all of this in Ennis, Texas. Seating is not ideally comfortable for a one and a half to two hour dinner, ambience is not too loud, but not exactly leaning on the side of anything remotely formal. Good for groups, good if you like steak....I will say if you like steak that is overcooked with a 1/2inch burned crust and very salty. Was excited to try the wagyu filet but it was overdone and impossible to enjoy the tenderness when you had to bite through so much burnt. Noticed that they serve a crème brûlée, and unfortunately, it did not live up to it its hype: I received a oval dish about 6 inches long that had a smidge over - I kid you not - a quarter an inch of crème brûlée, including the soggy caramelized crust. When I ran my spoon from one end of the dish to the other, it barely filled up half the utensil - it was rather saddening. Now I am the kind of person that believes in at least a "two times whack" with the bottom of the spoon in order to break the lovely caramel crust on top of a crème brûlée; this poor little dessert was not even thick enough for the spoon to rest upon the crème brûlée without it sinking to the bottom of the dish instantly. Positive notes, our waitress was a little misinformed on the menu, she might've been new and so that was not her fault as she did well in trying to accommodate our party of three - one who is particularly hard of hearing - and their Caesar salad was average, but nothing outstanding, along with the potatoes and brussels sprouts we got along alongside the meal. All this being said, if you like a variety of big pieces of overcooked salted meat with a thick crust, this is the place for you.

My girlfriend took the trays to her house and when I wanted to try it the next day, her family had eaten it....all. Three days later, I happen to going through Ennis on a weekend trip and stopped in to actually try it this time. Having some Polish blood running through the veins, I was pretty excited to see and try many things on the menu that I grew up with. So I proceeded to order like 3-4 different plates (I was with my girlfriend again, but I knew what my mission was.... Pirogies- really good. We had the cabbage and mushroom; tater and cheese and Piccadillo (a little Tex mex version with ground beef, potato and jalepeno). Honestly, the picadillo was my favorite, all were good though. The sauerkraut and ribs were tasty, they take all of the fun out of it by taking the meat off the bones, but better for service. We had the sausage plate which was really good and finally the potato pancakes with apple sauce. Everything was great. Did not know it at the time, but Granny Dee was our sever!! Sweet woman, great service and we have followed similar paths in our movings over the years. The place over all is in an old building, very nice, clean and comfortable. I recommend the place for a little taste of home. May not be like my mom's, but better than me having to make it. I will be stopping again in my travels.

I was impressed with the amazing staff who met my needs and exceeded my expectations. I ordered from the ala carte menu the Polish Garlic Kielbasa with sauerkraut and a Dr. Pepper. My dad enjoyed it thoroughly as I. Way to go Granny Dee's Pierogi! A great 2nd visit, will definitely be back. Hope to see you there! I highly recommend it. Oh, bring your family and friends as well. My first visit I ordered the Tour of Poland. It was awesome, flavorful and yummy. Also tried the stuffed cabbage as an appetizer. Yummy. Downtown Ennis definitely has an amazing restaurant here. I also enjoyed the ambiance of traditional polish polka music videos on display. I share my great day with you!
