Wow! This was truly one of the best steaks I've ever had the pleasure of eating. The appetizers, deviled eggs and bacon-wrapped shrimp, were good. The Caesar salad was good, traditional, fresh, and the correct size. The garlic mashed potatoes were good. But the wagyu NY strip was just incredible. It was almost black on the outside and just warm on the inside, a perfect rare as wagyu beef should be. The meat was unctuous and delicious without being greasy or fatty. It was so richly umami flavorful, perfectly seasoned. It was just an excellent steak. The bourbon bread pudding was a huge serving and wonderfully flavorful. There was some nice bread to go with the meal too. The smoked old fashioned cocktail before dinner was excellent. And I got a nice Cabernet that perfectly paired with the steak. Our server was casual but friendly with a good balance of hospitality and service. This was truly a great dinner and one of the best steaks I've ever had... and all of this in Ennis, Texas. Great North Ennis steakhouse giving huge lodge, cabin, cowboy vibes. The place is always packed at dinner but the wait never seems to be too long. Perhaps because they have a well-stocked bar with good beer and better bourbon selections. Don't skip the Smoked Old Fashioned. Food is great with traditional steakhouse choices and some pricier Wagyu options. When we are there, we seem to settle on a family style board with 2-3 cuts and the Beef Rib. Oh my, the Beef Rib smoked for 73 hours because I guess 3 days isn't quite enough time. Sides are solid and the table typically gets excited about the Brussels sprouts. Jalapeno Cheddar Cream Corn is can't miss either. Service is prompt, friendly and helpful. I'm here at least once a trip when in the greater Ennis metroplex. You should visit too. read more

Went here as we heard it was a sort of upscale steakhouse, seems more like a Dickey's BBQ style vibe. Seating is not ideally comfortable for a one and a half to two hour dinner, ambience is not too loud, but not exactly leaning on the side of anything remotely formal. Good for groups, good if you like steak....I will say if you like steak that is overcooked with a 1/2inch burned crust and very salty. Was excited to try the wagyu filet but it was overdone and impossible to enjoy the tenderness when you had to bite through so much burnt. Noticed that they serve a crème brûlée, and unfortunately, it did not live up to it its hype: I received a oval dish about 6 inches long that had a smidge over - I kid you not - a quarter an inch of crème brûlée, including the soggy caramelized crust. When I ran my spoon from one end of the dish to the other, it barely filled up half the utensil - it was rather saddening. Now I am the kind of person that believes in at least a "two times whack" with the bottom of the spoon in order to break the lovely caramel crust on top of a crème brûlée; this poor little dessert was not even thick enough for the spoon to rest upon the crème brûlée without it sinking to the bottom of the dish instantly. Positive notes, our waitress was a little misinformed on the menu, she might've been new and so that was not her fault as she did well in trying to accommodate our party of three - one who is particularly hard of hearing - and their Caesar salad was average, but nothing outstanding, along with the potatoes and brussels sprouts we got along alongside the meal. All this being said, if you like a variety of big pieces of overcooked salted meat with a thick crust, this is the place for you. read more

For this area this is probably one of the best places but if you compare the prices to spots in Dallas this is definitely a "bottom shelf restaurant". We ordered burnt ends. They were a little overcooked. The flavor was great they had a sweet bbq sauce that was fantastic. We thought to ourselves, it's starting out OK. We ordered a queso, it was velveeta queso... for ~$12 I'm expecting an actual queso. We said- maybe it will get better?!? Forty something minutes later we get our food. I ordered lamb chops. Taste was decent and it had a sauce but the sauce was pretty watery. I had a side of Mac and cheese (no flavor, velveeta was that you making an appearance again?!?). I also had a baked potato which was fine. My husband shared a New York strip medium rare. Part of it came out completely rare. Overall, this is a solid 3/5. There are signs hyping up this restaurant leading up to it saying it's the best steakhouse in Ennis but I think it's the only one in Ennis. . Somehow our meal came out to $100. For this same price there are places comparable in price that are one million times better. read more

This place is more expensive than a Downtown Dallas Steakhouse....WE sat down ordered a bottle of wine.. the waitress comes back and says sorry we don't have any more...she said she had enough to serve 2 glasses...well...We should have known...the pours were so tiny and got charged $20 per glass...Opened up the menu....Good Lord!!!!!!! The prices were astronomical.... Steaks were $ 50-170. Came in looking to have a steak and potatoe NOT SMOKED... the WHOLE MENU WAS SMOKED...Even the Mac and Cheese... The smoked wagyu ribeye wagyu filet and Big rib plate with 2 sides which are Mac and cheese and Brussel sprouts and nothing disappointed! If I could give ZERO stars I absolutely would! Do not waste your time or $ here! Food was awful, we raise Wagyu beef and there is no way that's what this steak was. Poor Holstein at best. Sides were unrecognizable and service and atmosphere were just as poor. Made us wait for 10-12 min before seating us when 4-5 tables were open. They weren't very busy. For starters the staff treats you like family... The management at the restaurant clearly cares about the quality of service and overall experience. The staff is very professional and the kitchen prioritizes quality and execution. I normally order there chicken here, the glaze on it, is perfect. There bread is pretty good too.... The first time i came here, I got the ribeye. Man it was good, seasoned and seared perfectly. I was truly impressed with the crust of the steak. After my first visit, I could tell this is a reputable restaurant. For there sides the baked potato (get cowboy butter on it!) and brussell spouts... and you'll wont be disappointed... I also like their larger wine selection that they have. I do appreciate the large collection they have, its like every time i come in i can try something i havent tasted before. I have been wanting to eat here for a couple years. Hubby suggested this for a Saturday night date night. We arrive and the wait was 45 minutes. The friendly hostesses inform us we are notified by text, so we headed off to run errands. Almost 45 minutes on the dot, we receive the text our table was ready. Hostess asked if we successfully ran our errands--good memory, friendly, good customer service; they are 5-star employees. We are shown to our table and told our waitress would be with us shortly. 13 minutes later, our waitress arrives to take our drink order. Drinks come and we're asked if we want an appetizer. Ask some questions about the Smoked Queso, and decide to order. Comes out about 10 minutes, and the waitress clanks it down and walks off. Hubby asked if we could place our dinner order, but evidently not, as she kept on walking away. He does flag her down, and we place our order, double meat hamburger with cheese cooked medium rare and a steak salad, no onions, radishes, or sharp cheddar, French dressing on the side. About 5 minutes in hubby flags the waitress and asks about a specific beer. Waitress thinks they serve it, but she'll ask the bar staff. 15 minutes later no beverage, no waitress, so I go to the bar to order the beverage myself, and yes they do have it. Bar staff is really friendly, and I enjoyed watching them make a Smoked Barb Wire. Bartender had to ask manager if she could serve me and why was I ordering? I showed h them the table where we were seated, told them our server hasn't checked on the beverage and hubby it ordered 20 minutes ago. Our waitress was at the tea station doing something with it. They do give me the beverage. It was really difficult to talk to one another, because the live performer had the amp cranked as if he was playing an outdoor venue. Bless his heart, he needs some lessons. Singing in bass, he's actually decent and he can hit the high notes, too, but singing in that tenor, he sings through his nose and shoves the microphone down his throat. His words were inaudible 90% of the time. The reason I can give such a detailed singing account is due to our 50 minute wait time. People who arrived 15 minutes after us were served well before us. Hubby's burger was not medium rate and he could easily taste the freezer burn. My order was correct, but the Wagyu was tough and had more gristle than a Wagyu sirloin should have. Our waitress checked on the quality of our meal when we had about 1/3 of it remaining. It would have been different had our waitress been waiting on other tables, but she only had us and the table behind us. We walked in a little after 7:00 pm; we walked at 8:45 pm. I don't often give glowing reviews but this one will be as glowing as a bonfire at a high school homecoming pep rally! I had heard good things and Ruston lived up to them. From walking in the door, this place was very clean. The rustic atmosphere was very homey, good music. My server, April, is a credit to her employer. Nice, friendly, sweet, attentive and very good at her job. She was a sweetheart! I wanted to try the smoked queso so bad but I wouldn't have had room for my meal. I shared my grief with April and ordered the rib-eye with baked potato and smoked Mac and cheese. Much to my surprise April brought me my own mini smoked queso and chips. It was heavenly! The depth of flavor was sooo goood!! My meal came and my ribeye was cooked to a perfect medium rare, the potato was hot, fresh and fluffy and the Mac and cheese very tasty. The sweet tea with lime was very refreshing. I even had leftovers. The portions are very generous. Be aware, don't go if you're on the cheap. It's pricey. But to me was well worth it. My wife and I decided to try this place. The queso was good but that was it really. 25 min to get seated ok. 1 hour and 10 min to receive a steak on par with Waffle House. See pic below of an extremely cheap cut of meat sold for 33$ as if they think they are serving real steakhouse steaks! This was a 15$ steak at most. Same with the beef rib, all rib no meat. So after waiting an hour and 10 min out came a seriously burnt over seasoned saaaaad steak. They replaced it with another but this one due to the poor meat quality was 1/2 med rare and 1/2 well done both with huuuuge fat content. Sad cuts. New restaurant in town, and I have to say BRAVO for opening during this pandemic! I came here Saturday night September 12th for my birthday and brought a large group of friends, 15 to be exact. Another birthday group was there and even larger than mine, 28 in theirs. With that being said I knew service was going to be challenging. Knowing that I was very patient with our two waitresses. When they came by they were apologetic about the time it was taking for drinks and food. This is not a big place. They were doing their best accommodating 43 people just on their patio! I got the 2 meat plate, moist brisket and sausage. DELICIOUS. Melt in your mouth good. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very inviting. I love the rustic and ranch style decor.
