I was looking for barbecue for an event to feed 30 in Keene TX. I was considering some of the more well known options. But I chose Drew's and was not disappointed. Excellent service and even better barbecue. I worked out my order over the phone with suggestions from Drew. The food was hot and ready at the time we agreed on and everything went off without a hitch. I was on a tight schedule so this was very important to me. Everything went off without got was outstanding. I could go on and on about each item. Brisket, ribs & sausage - perfectly cooked and seasoned. I didn't need any sauce, but of course the sauce was tasty too. The Mac & cheese, baked beans & street corn were so great. The desserts - peanut butter, pecan and banana pudding - all beautifully prepared and delicious! Y'all crushed it Drew! Thanks. Easy to find in downtown Maypearl. Their restaurant is a classic old building converted to a bad ass barbecue spot. Parking may be a problem, but find a way. Make a way. You can walk it off even if you have to park outside of town. Not our first rodeo to Drew's BBQ. A bit out of the way for our lunch but was craving some good bbq which seems to be harder and harder to find. My wife and my office manager both ordered the stuffed potato. They enjoyed it. I had the two meat plate which came with three ribs and Fatty brisket. My two choices of meat. The ribs were baby back as I was told they are normally spare ribs but they didn't have any spare ribs today. None the less the ribs were tender, moist and very flavorful. Did not need any sauce. The brisket was moist and tender with a mouth full of flavor as well. Needed no sauce. But, the sauce on the table was an extremely thin almost watery sauce that had bland flavor to it and a slightly thicker and sweeter sauce that was acceptable. I would give 5 stars to the BBQ but the potato salad which consisted of large chunks of red potatoes and yellow mustard with absolutely nothing else gets a 1 star at best. I will have to point out as well that I asked not to be served the end pieces of the ribs as end pieces are always dry. They obliged but what was strange is I was served two slices of bread, both in which were the butts of the loaf. Go figure. Was this a joke or what? Would I come back? Probably but after $63 lunch bill It may be a while. 3 total stars: Price too high for two potatoes and a two meat plate. Terrible potato salad. The butt of the bread. read more

Absolutely the best BBQ I've had in a long time! The meat was perfectly smoked, tender, and full of flavor -- you can taste the quality in every bite. The bbq is Dr Pepper based. I would drink it if nobody was looking. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere had that perfect laid-back BBQ vibe. My son and I have a tradition of checking out various BBQ joints. We'be been to several of the Texas Monthly top 50 places. We were looking for something local and found out about Drew's. The reviews were good, so we decided to check it out. It took us about an hour to get there. A little out of the way, but not too bad. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by one of the owners (Drew), who introduced himself to us. We ordered the 3 meat plate and added one extra side. So we ended up with brisket, pork belly burnt ends, habanero cheese sausage, mac and cheese, and street corn. We also added a stuffed bacon wrapped jalapeño. Everything we ordered was excellent. The brisket had the traditional central Texas (post oak, salt, pepper, and garlic - presumably) flavor profile. All of the meats had a good balance of meat flavor, seasoning, smokiness, and well rendered fat. We were not disappointed. The sides were also great. It's hard to say which one we liked better. This is a small detail, but it didn't go unnoticed. Most BBQ joints will give you a slice of traditional store bought white bread. The bread they gave us was different. I'm not sure if they made it themselves or if they bought it. But it was really good. It kind of reminded me of Goldee's bread. They even threw in a complimentary dessert, which was some kind of pecan cheesecake. Like everything else, it was excellent. For what we got, the pricing was very reasonable. The restaurant itself had a nice older look to it. They had a couple of TV's on, but it was quiet enough that we were able to carry on a conversation. With as many LOUD restaurants as we've been to, the quieter environment was really nice. It was a great experience. Considering the remoteness of their location, I hope they do well. Excellent brisket (moist over lean is my choice, but both are great) really good pulled pork. Mac & Cheese beats out the potato salad (which is too mustard & pickley for my taste). The guys at the meat church store in Waxahachie told us about Drew's over in Maypearl. He called ahead for us, and told Drew that he was sending a family from Chicago. Drew greeted us as we walked in, walked us through the menu, recommended his favorite sides, checked on us a few different times, as well as some of the staff checking on us. Halfway through our meal Drew came over with his Birria tacos made from brisket trimmings. This was an awesome gesture and truly appreciated. He then offered to take my family and I outback to see the pits and talk to us a little bit about how he does some of his meat. Drew is a real one! It's worth the drive. read more

Hesitate to let people know about this because once word gets out, the line will be down the street. Brisket was perfect. Ribs were perfect. Mac and cheese was perfect.
