First visit to Hurtado's in Mansfield, and I came away impressed. Parking is a little limited since the lot is shared with a few other businesses. I could see it being an issue during the early hours of opening on the weekends, but probably not as much in the evenings. Inside, it has a cozy, almost dive-bar feel, just not dark. LOL. There's a small bar tucked into the back corner, several four-person tables, and a couple of wooden booths along one wall. When you walk in, you order at the counter window. They give you a number for the table, you grab a seat, and they bring the food out to you. The staff was friendly and polite, checking on us here and there without hovering. I went with the Texas Trinity Platter: brisket, pork ribs, garlic & pepper sausage, and Mexican street corn for my side. I also ordered a Brisket Tostada. The brisket had a nice smoke ring, decent bark, and that Central Texas, Mex-Tex seasoning profile. What I enjoyed most was the seasoning wasn't too salty or laid on too thick. It added flavor without masking the beef. The pork ribs were moist and close to fall off the bone, but still held together enough to get a good bite. There was plenty of smoke, and again, the seasoning complemented the pork instead of overpowering it. For the sausage, I chose the garlic & pepper. It had a good snap, was juicy inside, and had a light garlic flavor with a little pepper coming through. The texture was a medium grind with a good balance of lean meat and fat. But the surprise for me was the Brisket Tostada. The tostada was crisp and thick enough to support everything piled on top. There's a thin layer of refried beans, thick slices of brisket, a little salsa verde, cotija cheese, and a drizzle of Valentina's. And yes, you can actually pick the thing up and eat it without it falling apart or turning soggy. I'll admit I was eating it a little faster than usual--not because I was worried about it falling apart, but because it was that good. LOL. The salsa verde helped cut through the richness of the brisket and beans, while the Valentina's added a little extra kick without taking over. The Mexican street corn was also well seasoned without being heavy-handed and worked well with all the meats. For a first visit, Hurtado's checked a lot of boxes for me. Awesome barbecue, friendly service, and that Brisket Tostada alone gives me a reason to come back. Since it's not too far from the house, I can see this becoming one of my regular BBQ spots. read more

Maaaan we finally tried this place and we were not disappointed! We came here after a day in the sun and were starving so we got the El Jefe to feed our family of 3 with a few additional sides. With the El Jefe platter we got to try ribs, brisket, smoked turkey, burnt ends, pulled pork and a sausage link with two sides (Mac and cheese and baked beans). We ordered a birria taco, small cup of cornbread and elote corn for good measure. The meat was all great, the ribs were tender and falling off the bone, the turkey had a great smoked flavor and was tender as well. The brisket had a good seasoning and the sausage was also delicious. The real star of the show for me was the sides. Their baked beans are like a Mexican -bbq fusion which I've never had before and LOVED. Seriously, a bit of cilantro and seasonings made for a great flavor profile. My husband was swearing by the corn and how tasty it was and my son really enjoyed the Mac and cheese. While we loved 90% of this meal the only thing I would probably not order again was the cornbread - it was pretty dry even with the honey/syrup. It crumbled everywhere and the Birria taco was good, but just missing a bit of spice and hot sauce for me. There was a line of about 10 people ahead of us when we arrived and we probably waited about 30 minutes to actually leave with our food in hand. It felt like it went by quickly. Inside was packed with people eating but they had a nice little bar area towards the back and multiple TVs showing sporting events and things. The walk ways got a little cramped while waiting, but it wasn't terrible. All in all, we spent about $70 bucks to eat here and it was definitely worth it and we'll be back. read more

TLDR: I had an issue with an order, the VP rectified it, and I was thoroughly impressed by the response and the food. I will definitely return! So, I originally ordered pickup through their website, but due to a snow day, they were closed by the time I arrived. I reached out on Facebook to let them know their website was still open even though the restaurant was closed. From the initial message to the first text received from the Vice President was no more than an hour. He stated that there was an issue with the website and offered a visit to the restaurant and a comp meal. A few days later, I swung by, and the staff were very welcoming and made my order very quickly. I got sliced smoked turkey, pork belly bites, two jalapeño twinkies, a 1/3 cheddar smoked sausage, and Mac and cheese. The smoked turkey was juicy and delicious. I loved the flavor. The pork belly bites were my favorite ‍. They had a nice crust, and when mixed with the BBQ sauce, they were really good. The cheddarsmoked sausage was my next favorite, and I'd come back just for those! Next, the jalapeno twinkies were amazing as well. Finally, the Mac... the only disappointment on the menu for me. The creaminess was there, but the flavor wasn't, and for me, that is very important. read more

I wouldn't say that I am huge on BBQ to begin with, however if given the choice I would pick Hurtado Barbecue every time. I love the idea of BBQ with a little Mexican food influence. A highlight for me is the tacos, I would probably order this every time I go. The food itself all has some uniqueness to it and you can't go wrong with anything you order. I would recommend this location over the one in near the football stadium in Arlington. There was a lot of space here and a short line to order. Overall great unique spot for some SOLID BBQ with some personality. read more

You already know, they are known for their BBQ!...so I ordered ahead and was lucky to find parking, so I sat and ate at the restaurant. Parking is a challenge. Burnt ends were sooooo good , my fav ! The bacon ranch potato salad was missing something , not the best, but the elote made up for it , the banana tres leches pudding isssss amazing yum! I got a Texas Twinkie and I'm obsessed! The menu is rather large, they have smash burger as well. I'm gonna have to go back to try all the things. Everyone was so friendly , really enjoyed our meal at this location. I don't eat red meat. I don't eat red meat. I don't e... I would like the brisket tostada, please! Hurtado hurt me so good! Geez, this Tex-Mex, BBQ fusion situation is good. I've known about them for a while. I heard the Arlington location is better. I don't know. What I do know is that I didn't feel guilty for eating their brisket. If I'm going to eat red meat, I want it to be good red meat. Ya know?! Everyone enjoyed their choices. The cornbread was muffin like, soft, and flavorful. The beans were yummy. The sometimes picky, little people raved about the brisket birria. Unfortunately, non red meat/pork options are limited. Maybe add a turkey sandwich or jalapeno chicken sliders to the menu. Just a suggestion, Chef. Now here's the issue. Seating. It's limited. Unless you sit in the back patio section (it was too hot for this), there's no room when it gets busy. We tried to go to the Fort Worth location when family came into town. Same. We walked in and immediately walked out because of the lack of seating. read more

All I can I say is WOW! I'm from California and iv heard about this place and have been wanting to try it out! Came out to visit my family and took them to the Mansfield location. Travis is awesome!!! Gave me a tour of the Pits before our monster of a platter blessed our tastebuds. Moe the pitmaster absolutely nailed it!!! We ordered the el capo platter along with some Texas twinkies and some corn bread. The brisket literally fell apart and the fat melted beautifully in our mouths. The smoke flavor was perfect on all the meats especially the sausage. Iv found that at times sausage can hold a heavy smoke flavor maybe a little too Smokey but this was perfection. Perfectly spiced and juicy! The turkey was moist, the pulled pork was delicious and all the sides were amazing! Whatever you do.. do not pass up trying the birria tacos!! Yes tacos! At a bbq joint.. say less, I was all in and again, no disappointment. If you want to try out a different style of BBQ still holding down the bbq flavors but also with some Tex mex, this is the place. The food and service will not let you down!!! Thank you guys for filling my belly and bringing joy to foodies like me! read more

Loved it. This was my 3rd visit to this location. We brought out of town friends here for dinner and Hurtado's did not disappoint. The ordering line was longish. My wife grabbed a booth while the rest of us stood in line. For our friends, the time in line allowed them plenty of time to study the menu. The four of us ordered: - 1# of Pork Ribs, 1 link Jalapeno Sausage, Tater Tot Casserole and Green Beans - Birria Taco and Cole Slaw - Burger and Hatch Chile Mac and Cheese The ribs were excellent. They're spare ribs, so they're fatter than baby backs, but they were seasoned and smoked nicely and were very tasty. The sausage was excellent as well. Just enough heat. The green beans had onions and bacon and were great. The Tater Tot casserole was decent as well. My friend had the Birria taco. She does not care for food that has any spice with heat and surprisingly, she felt it was a bit hot for her - yet she enjoyed her taco. Her husband had the burger and Hatch Chile Mac and cheese and enjoyed both. In addition to the food and just as importantly is the staff at this location. Every single one of them I encountered this visit was very pleasant, seemed very appreciative of us being there and were so helpful. Great attitudes all around. I'm so happy to have a Hurtado's so close to where our new home will be. read more

Today, Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 12:32 p.m., my husband and I decided to try Hurtado's. Instead of eating inside, we placed a to-go order and planned to take it to the park for a little picnic. Ordering online was a breeze. However, once we arrived, parking was extremely limited. When we went inside, there was a line to order, and there were no signs indicating where to pick up to-go orders. Therefore, waiting in line seemed like the only option. When it was finally my turn, I told the young lady that I had a to-go order. She said, "Oh, okay, I'll go grab it for you," and proceeded to walk out of the kitchen and toward the bar area, which I hadn't even realized was there because it was tucked away in the back corner. Once I got to my vehicle, I realized I was missing my Topo Chico, so I ran back inside and got back in line. Thankfully, the bartender came over and asked if I needed anything. I told him about my missing drink, and he quickly helped me. When I opened the bag containing our food, I noticed they had only given us one silverware packet. We had ordered the El Jefe platter and two Texas Twinkies, so one packet of utensils was definitely not enough. Let's start with the Texas Twinkies: jumbo jalapeños wrapped in bacon, filled with brisket and pimento cheese, and topped with a sweet BBQ sauce. Honestly, that combination sounds amazing, and I had high expectations. Unfortunately, they were missing salt to tie all the flavors together. Overall, they were extremely disappointing. The El Jefe platter came with burnt ends, sausage, turkey, brisket, pork ribs, and pulled pork. The best and honestly the only thing I truly enjoyed were the burnt ends. They were perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of black pepper and had a nice coating of sticky, sweet sauce that complemented the meat beautifully. The sausage was okay, but it wasn't my favorite. Honestly, it tasted a little gamey to me. The turkey was nice and juicy. It's not my favorite type of meat, but it wasn't bad. The brisket had a great bark and was soft and tender. I think what really disappointed me was the BBQ sauce. You have this beautiful, delicate cut of meat, and then it's paired with a mediocre sauce that was far too acidic to truly enjoy with it. The ribs were rather thin and dry. The pulled pork was seasoned well, but honestly, it was just pulled pork--nothing special to write home about. The Hatch mac and cheese was grainy and also lacked flavor. Once again, disappointing. We also ordered the tater tot casserole, which, again, fell short. I honestly couldn't figure out what it was supposed to taste like because, once again, it lacked enough salt to bring all the flavors together. What truly brought this experience down to two stars for me was the BBQ sauce. If you're going to serve BBQ, the sauce should be good. The person behind the smoker clearly knows what they're doing--the burnt ends and the quality of the brisket proved that. But it was honestly sad to eat such a beautiful piece of brisket without a good BBQ sauce to enjoy with it. I also don't think whoever is preparing the food is tasting it as they go. That's something that seriously needs to be addressed because so many of the dishes seemed to be missing that final touch of seasoning needed to bring the flavors together. But I'll tell you one thing: I won't be back. It was a waste of $74.14 to try it, not enjoy it, and ultimately give it to an abandoned dog at Katherine Rose Memorial Park. read more

Maybe my tastebuds are a little different, but I'm just not seeing what the hype is about. On my recent visit I ordered all of the things because I have the appetite of a varsity football player. All of the sides were just...ok. Everything was just lacking flavor. Mac & cheese, green beans, beans, elote...they were all just ok. That seems to be a common weakness for all of the popular bbq places in TX so I'm not really surprised. The ribs and brisket were good though. Great smokey flavor, tender, and the meat was falling off the bone like it was supposed to do. No sauce needed! But speaking of sauce, it was a miss for me. Way too sweet and too thin (that's a personal preference though). Another miss was the chicken. It was very photogenic but tasted chewy and bland. Like they just poured a bunch of honey on the chicken and threw it in the oven to bake. The staff there was soo sweet and kind that I didn't have it in me to tell them that I didn't like my chicken and sides. I just dumped the sides and took the chicken home to make chicken salad. My friends rave about the beef ribs though so I might give those a try. Hurtado shines with its pork and beef so I'll just stick with those if I return. read more

I tried Hurtado BBQ for dinner last night. At first I was a lil annoyed with a $35 minimum for online orders, but I I was able to order and pay over the phone instead. My food was ready in about 10 minutes which was great. I got the Brisket Tostada and it had great flavor and freshness. They followed my "no beans" request perfectly. A 10/10.. I also got the mac & cheese which was a 6/10..A bit bland, but a little salt and pepper fixed it up. I also got the "moist" brisket by itself, and that was a 10/10.. super tender and exactly what I was craving. The staff were nice and welcoming as well.. Overall, a great experience read more

Really good food and it's real food not junk food and there is good service workers are very good, helpful and friendly

Let me tell y'all I have been in the Arlington/Mansfield area since 2019 and I am mad at myself for not trying this barbecue place sooner. I have always heard people talk about it and how good it is so today I made a last minute decision to try it. I arrived an hour before they closed on a Saturday and the service was pretty fast even though it was a good amount of people in there. This location was clean and the lighting was dim but very inviting. Once I got back home, I opened it up and the food looked and smelled really good. The presentation had already roped me in. I ordered the Beria tacos and the mac & cheese with green chiles and the brisket beans. I initially ordered elotes but they were out.I took that first bite of food and just had to shake my head because it was so darn good. The flavors paired perfectly together and the more I chewed it the better it got. The mac and cheese was creamy with the right amount of sauce. If you don't like beans you will after eating the ones here... VERY VERY flavorful! Now the birra tocos ..... brisket was juicy, well seasoned, and the toppings set it off. I almost forgot to tell you I ordered 3 tacos thinking one wouldn't be enough and they are not stingy with the filling at all! I was full after the first one. I vow to never eat at another barbecue place ever unless there's no way to get here. I mean the food was so delicious I had to call someone and tell them about it. We will for sure be back! Don't be like me... add this place to your next meal no need to debate. read more

I think the downtown Arlington location was better. The meat was cold, the Mac and cheese was cold. They should butter and toast the bread...we just got plain bread, which I think is common? Food was bad. They were very busy and I assume ran out of alot of items. Their Mac and cheese had no cheese at all. The brisket we ordered was dry even though we asked for fatty slices. My fellow foodies, taco lovers, BBQ enthusiast. Have the place of the day for sure!! We've been hearing all the hype of a somewhat new BQQ place in Mansfield called Hurtado. The hype is all about their Birria style tacos and the hype is real my friends! The Birria: What an awesome flavor of consume. A wonderful hybrid of traditional, Tex Mex and BBQ flavor that delivers such a blast of delicious flavor for your wanting taste buds. The meat has hints of smoke, and traditional flavors you would find in a Birria taco...pretty much a huge flavor bomb! Me and my wife were completely blown away. 20 out of 10!!! The Brisket: We also tried just a 1/4 pound of sliced brisket and it was pretty good. I more like a more fatty brisket myself. 7 out of 10 The Elote Prefect about of cream and spice. Very good. Not one bit of leftovers! 10 out of 10 The atmosphere: It is pretty cool, the workers were cheerful and nice. Looks like they are working on a bar area which will make the place even better in my opinion! 8 out of 10 My tip is...Get the Birria tacos, you will not regret it!!
