Maaaan we finally tried this place and we were not disappointed! We came here after a day in the sun and were starving so we got the El Jefe to feed our family of 3 with a few additional sides. With the El Jefe platter we got to try ribs, brisket, smoked turkey, burnt ends, pulled pork and a sausage link with two sides (Mac and cheese and baked beans). We ordered a birria taco, small cup of cornbread and elote corn for good measure. The meat was all great, the ribs were tender and falling off the bone, the turkey had a great smoked flavor and was tender as well. The brisket had a good seasoning and the sausage was also delicious. The real star of the show for me was the sides. Their baked beans are like a Mexican -bbq fusion which I've never had before and LOVED. Seriously, a bit of cilantro and seasonings made for a great flavor profile. My husband was swearing by the corn and how tasty it was and my son really enjoyed the Mac and cheese. While we loved 90% of this meal the only thing I would probably not order again was the cornbread - it was pretty dry even with the honey/syrup. It crumbled everywhere and the Birria taco was good, but just missing a bit of spice and hot sauce for me. There was a line of about 10 people ahead of us when we arrived and we probably waited about 30 minutes to actually leave with our food in hand. It felt like it went by quickly. Inside was packed with people eating but they had a nice little bar area towards the back and multiple TVs showing sporting events and things. The walk ways got a little cramped while waiting, but it wasn't terrible. All in all, we spent about $70 bucks to eat here and it was definitely worth it and we'll be back. read more

TLDR: I had an issue with an order, the VP rectified it, and I was thoroughly impressed by the response and the food. I will definitely return! So, I originally ordered pickup through their website, but due to a snow day, they were closed by the time I arrived. I reached out on Facebook to let them know their website was still open even though the restaurant was closed. From the initial message to the first text received from the Vice President was no more than an hour. He stated that there was an issue with the website and offered a visit to the restaurant and a comp meal. A few days later, I swung by, and the staff were very welcoming and made my order very quickly. I got sliced smoked turkey, pork belly bites, two jalapeño twinkies, a 1/3 cheddar smoked sausage, and Mac and cheese. The smoked turkey was juicy and delicious. I loved the flavor. The pork belly bites were my favorite ‍. They had a nice crust, and when mixed with the BBQ sauce, they were really good. The cheddarsmoked sausage was my next favorite, and I'd come back just for those! Next, the jalapeno twinkies were amazing as well. Finally, the Mac... the only disappointment on the menu for me. Food was bad. They were very busy and I assume ran out of alot of items. Their Mac and cheese had no cheese at all. The brisket we ordered was dry even though we asked for fatty slices. The only food item from our entire order that was descent was the bread! Stop taking orders if you are running out of things. Do not be greedy and take a customer's money when you are providing them with items that are just horrible. This is why places go downhill. read more

I wouldn't say that I am huge on BBQ to begin with, however if given the choice I would pick Hurtado Barbecue every time. I love the idea of BBQ with a little Mexican food influence. A highlight for me is the tacos, I would probably order this every time I go. The food itself all has some uniqueness to it and you can't go wrong with anything you order. I would recommend this location over the one in near the football stadium in Arlington. There was a lot of space here and a short line to order. You already know, they are known for their BBQ!...so I ordered ahead and was lucky to find parking, so I sat and ate at the restaurant. Parking is a challenge. Burnt ends were sooooo good , my fav ! The bacon ranch potato salad was missing something , not the best, but the elote made up for it , the banana tres leches pudding isssss amazing yum! I got a Texas Twinkie and I'm obsessed! I don't eat red meat. I don't eat red meat. I don't e... I would like the brisket tostada, please! Hurtado hurt me so good! Geez, this Tex-Mex, BBQ fusion situation is good. I've known about them for a while. I heard the Arlington location is better. I don't know. What I do know is that I didn't feel guilty for eating their brisket. If I'm going to eat red meat, I want it to be good red meat. Ya know?! Everyone enjoyed their choices. The cornbread was muffin like, soft, and flavorful. The beans were yummy. The sometimes picky, little people raved about the brisket birria. Unfortunately, non red meat/pork options are limited. Maybe add a turkey sandwich or jalapeno chicken sliders to the menu. Just a suggestion, Chef. Now here's the issue. Seating. It's limited. Unless you sit in the back patio section (it was too hot for this), there's no room when it gets busy. Loved it. This was my 3rd visit to this location. We brought out of town friends here for dinner and Hurtado's did not disappoint. The ordering line was longish. My wife grabbed a booth while the rest of us stood in line. For our friends, the time in line allowed them plenty of time to study the menu. The four of us ordered: - 1# of Pork Ribs, 1 link Jalapeno Sausage, Tater Tot Casserole and Green Beans - Birria Taco and Cole Slaw - Burger and Hatch Chile Mac and Cheese The ribs were excellent. They're spare ribs, so they're fatter than baby backs, but they were seasoned and smoked nicely and were very tasty. The sausage was excellent as well. Just enough heat. The green beans had onions and bacon and were great. The Tater Tot casserole was decent as well. My friend had the Birria taco. She does not care for food that has any spice with heat and surprisingly, she felt it was a bit hot for her - yet she enjoyed her taco. Her husband had the burger and Hatch Chile Mac and cheese and enjoyed both. In addition to the food and just as importantly is the staff at this location. Every single one of them I encountered this visit was very pleasant, seemed very appreciative of us being there and were so helpful. Great attitudes all around. Maybe my tastebuds are a little different, but I'm just not seeing what the hype is about. On my recent visit I ordered all of the things because I have the appetite of a varsity football player. All of the sides were just...ok. Everything was just lacking flavor. Mac & cheese, green beans, beans, elote...they were all just ok. That seems to be a common weakness for all of the popular bbq places in TX so I'm not really surprised. The ribs and brisket were good though. Great smokey flavor, tender, and the meat was falling off the bone like it was supposed to do. No sauce needed! But speaking of sauce, it was a miss for me. Way too sweet and too thin (that's a personal preference though). Another miss was the chicken. It was very photogenic but tasted chewy and bland. Like they just poured a bunch of honey on the chicken and threw it in the oven to bake. The staff there was soo sweet and kind that I didn't have it in me to tell them that I didn't like my chicken and sides. I just dumped the sides and took the chicken home to make chicken salad. My friends rave about the beef ribs though so I might give those a try. Hurtado shines with its pork and beef so I'll just stick with those if I return. read more

I didn't fly all this way not to try a Texas Twinkie, which was almost as good as my burnt ends. I tried Hurtado BBQ for dinner last night. At first I was a lil annoyed with a $35 minimum for online orders, but I I was able to order and pay over the phone instead. My food was ready in about 10 minutes which was great. I got the Brisket Tostada and it had great flavor and freshness. They followed my "no beans" request perfectly. A 10/10.. I also got the mac & cheese which was a 6/10..A bit bland, but a little salt and pepper fixed it up. Let me tell y'all I have been in the Arlington/Mansfield area since 2019 and I am mad at myself for not trying this barbecue place sooner. I have always heard people talk about it and how good it is so today I made a last minute decision to try it. I arrived an hour before they closed on a Saturday and the service was pretty fast even though it was a good amount of people in there. This location was clean and the lighting was dim but very inviting. Once I got back home, I opened it up and the food looked and smelled really good. The presentation had already roped me in. I ordered the Beria tacos and the mac & cheese with green chiles and the brisket beans. I initially ordered elotes but they were out.I took that first bite of food and just had to shake my head because it was so darn good. The flavors paired perfectly together and the more I chewed it the better it got. The mac and cheese was creamy with the right amount of sauce. If you don't like beans you will after eating the ones here... VERY VERY flavorful! Now the birra tocos ..... brisket was juicy, well seasoned, and the toppings set it off. I almost forgot to tell you I ordered 3 tacos thinking one wouldn't be enough and they are not stingy with the filling at all! I was full after the first one. I vow to never eat at another barbecue place ever unless there's no way to get here. I mean the food was so delicious I had to call someone and tell them about it. We will for sure be back! Fine whatever but these two kids working the front tossed 2 slices of brisket in a potato and called it a day. I'd rather go anywhere else at this point. The hype is all about their Birria style tacos and the hype is real my friends! The Birria: What an awesome flavor of consume. A wonderful hybrid of traditional, Tex Mex and BBQ flavor that delivers such a blast of delicious flavor for your wanting taste buds. The meat has hints of smoke, and traditional flavors you would find in a Birria taco...pretty much a huge flavor bomb! Me and my wife were completely blown away. 20 out of 10!!! The Brisket: We also tried just a 1/4 pound of sliced brisket and it was pretty good. I more like a more fatty brisket myself. 7 out of 10 The Elote Prefect about of cream and spice. Very good. Not one bit of leftovers! 10 out of 10 The atmosphere: It is pretty cool, the workers were cheerful and nice. We ordered the 1 meat 2 sides and the trinity. The meat was juicy and flavorful. I really liked the kale and hatch Mac n cheese. My friend liked the potato salad. Located in the old D BBQ spot. Atmosphere/location is small and smells wonderful. Lots to choose from. We did the two meat (Moist Brisket and Pulled Pork). Both were dry and low on flavor. The Texas Torpedo was excellent. The potato salad might as well have been called mashed potatoes since it was so smooth and not chunky. The beans with brisket has the consistency of canned pinto beans with brisket meat in and then doctored up with seasonings. Overall very disappointing. read more
