I've been in search of the best BBQ around and proud to point out places that know what they're doing even if it's not perfect. Well I'm impressed with this place. Ribs looked picture perfect, cooked perfectly, tender as can be, just needed some seasoning, more flavor. The brisket was awesome, cooked perfectly, perfect smoke ring, perfect texture, tender and great moisture and flavor. Jalapeño cheese sausage, awesome turkey. Great sides, excellent sweet potato fries, the best Mac and cheese at any bbq place. Fried okra is just ok. Great bbq sauce and the hope is you actually won't need it but want it because it good. Well I needed it for the ribs. I'm not sure what the exact story is with the check for Chris Kyles family but Chris was from this area and went to this school. They have a small tribute to him. A great addition to a great BBQ place

3 meat plate. The ribs slid right off the bone. The brisket was tender and I loved the jalapeño cheddar sausage. Overall food was really good. The drink was point. Definitely will be back really soon

Came here on a recommendation from a coworker, we arrived for lunch on a Sunday, to find out they're only open from 11am to 2pm on Sunday. We were seated promptly, the place was 80% full. The place is nicely decorated Texas cowboy style. We started with the fried pickles, they were served on a bed of lettuce (first time I seen this) it absorbs the oil, so it's a big plus, in addition, they are very lightly coated with breading, which was an additional plus. I ordered the two meat plate (sliced brisket and jalapeño cheddar sausage) with green beans and potato salad. My spouse got one meat (pork ribs) with cole slaw and sweet potato fries. The ribs were tender and meaty, nicely smoked. The jalapeño cheddar sausage was good, kudos for the choice of sausage. The brisket was dry, sadly I came here for the brisket, it needed a lot of bbq sauce. The potato salad was somewhere between potato salad and mashed potatoes, less chunky potato, more like whipped potatoes, maybe the potato was a little over cooked. The green beans were plain, found one tiny piece of meat in the whole serving, maybe brisket, maybe bacon, I couldn't tell. The cole slaw was very good, not overly sweet, crunchy slaw, enjoyed it, licked the bowl. The sweet potato fries were perfect, not overly oily, salty or overly sweet (like most restaurants serve them). They were cooked nice and crispy, ate them all. The menu prices are just right. I couldn't give you 5 stars, because of the brisket, maybe it was too lean, maybe been out of the smoker too long. One suggestion for the owner: The bbq sauce on the table is good and tasty, not overpowering, but what was missing was a spicy choice of sauce, we needed a little kick. We will be back

Get the brisket! Nice and tender. Green beans are fresh and have that southern flavor. Yum!

Stopped into The District in Midlothian after a long afternoon of house shopping with my husband…read moreand sister because nothing fuels real estate decisions like hunger, dreams and hope. The place was fully booked, but the hostess saved the day and offered us lounge seating on the sofas. Honestly, it felt a little VIP...like we'd accidentally wandered into the cool kids' corner. I halfway considered putting on my sunglasses indoors just to commit to the moment, maybe even asking if they offered bottle service in the lounge. Within 10 minutes we were settled in and already getting excellent service. And as if the vibe wasn't good enough, there was a one‑man show crooning jazzy tunes in the background. He was smooth, talented, and added just the right soundtrack for an early dinner. Think "speakeasy energy," but suburban‑friendly. Now, the food. My husband ordered the Crunchy Pig sandwich, my sister went for the half rack of ribs, and I claimed the smoked turkey BLT. Everything hit the table about 20 minutes later, hot, fresh, and so lip‑smacking tasty that we inhaled every bite before remembering we meant to take pictures. My apologies to the food‑photo purists; trust me, the plates were camera‑ready before we destroyed them. If you find yourself wandering around The District in Midlothian, do yourself a righteous favor and grab a memorable meal here. Great food, great service, great music, and apparently great sofas.

The vibe is upscale but the prices don't say that. The portions are perfect. The menu looks great, not too many random options. It seems like what they do, they do well. Probably the most underrated bbq in the DFW area…read more I've never once had bbq or food from this place that would go under a 4 or 5 out of 5. The quality and the flavor are definitely there. In fact, we came out right after eating at Terry Blacks, and it's pretty comparable. If you were to ask which I'd go to if I had a first pick, then it would come down to what exactly I'm there for. With everyone else's ratings, I'm curious to know where they find better BBQ. List them y'all! Because, if they can, then it has to be something pretty amazing. I've been everywhere in DFW from Terry Blacks to Pecan Lodge to Lockharts and all the way to South Texas. So far, I've had the fried chicken, brisket, chopped brisket, jalapeño poppers, sausage, turkey, ham, ribs, baked beans, and Mac n cheese. I will say almost all of the food was a solid 4 or 5 out of 5! I know the menu and flavors have changed multiple times since I started eating at the Mansfield location, but they haven't committed any sins in my eyes. For instance, I've not really loved the ribs yet, but their chopped brisket, pulled pork, and ham really hit delicious. To me, once all the growth and transitions finish, it should be considered a top competitor for bbq in DFW area.

I ordered the smoked old fashioned but something got lost in translation and I didn't get it smoked for some reason. If you ate at the location in Mansfield, the menu is similar but there are some changes. The Mac and cheese I thought was better in Mansfield with the sausage they add. This location has pulled pork and it was the best meat we had tonight. The sausage wasn't as good as I remember from Mansfield but still ok. The chopped brisket is always a good choice too. Glad to see this place with a bar in a good location.
