Frogtown has always been one of my favorites but I hadn't been here in a few years. So disappointing! The service was terrible. Had lunch reservations and you would have thought we were a bother when we arrived. A couple of young ladies seemed to be in charge but very disorganized and they couldn't handle more than two things at once. Once we finally got our food and wine (each fine) we were never offered anything else. Such a missed opportunity. Definitely won't be back. read more

Came here after Montaluce despite the hike. Their Sangiovese is absolutely phenomenal! Having lived close to Napa and Sonoma, I keep low expectations for other US wine regions because the climate might not be ideal. But wow! This winery was phenomenal and I think was way better than many California wines I've had. We also loved the pear/blue cheese pizza. Great with a bottle of that Sangiovese :) I will absolutely come back here! read more

My husband and I visited earlier this year. They were resurfacing their entry and parking areas so we didn't think they were open but they were. Since we arrived when they opened, there were very few customers and we had a great table with a wonderful view. We had no issues with service. Although a bit pricey for a tasting and food, we had no complaints. Being unfamiliar with Georgia wineries (I'm originally from Missouri and familiar with MO wines) I found them to be quite dry for my taste but my husband enjoyed them. All in all we enjoyed our visit and spent some time with the vineyard kitties too! read more

At least the setting was beautiful? Besides the soaring tasting room, tucked into hills amidst vineyards, and overlooking a lake, I can't think of many nice things to say about this spot. The whole place is beautiful, but it has that "corporate" feel, which I am beginning to recognize is the thing that I do not like in these North Georgia wineries. This is still Dahlonega, not Napa, and I like the wineries that recognize and even embrace that simple fact. Let's start with the goldfish here. No, I don't mean the pretty koi swimming about in the fountain outside the main entrance, I mean their complimentary palate cleansers. While it's hard to whine about free nibbles, the point of these little carbohydrate offerings is supposed to be to keep your palate neutral and awake between courses. Salty, cheese-y crackers are exactly the opposite of what is supposed to be offered. And, the sloppily dressed server schlepping about with the giant carton straight from Costco and refilling the bowls at our table certainly didn't help class up this snack (at least take the bowls back behind the bar and refill them there). Onto the service. In addition to the goldfish refilling, she started things off on the wrong foot by making a mistake in the order of wine pouring. She neither brought us a fresh glass nor repeated the mistakenly early poured option at its proper time in the tasting. We waited a good while in between pours, and she generally seemed disinterested. And the tasting here was by far the most expensive of the wineries we tried, at $15/flight. Sure, you do get about seven pours, but when you compare that Cavendar's four pours for $5 or Wold Mountain's five pours for $10, it's not a phenomenal value. Additionally, you have to do your tasting at the bar rather than on the patio, so standing around in one spot while going through seven tastings is quite a while to be standing. I enjoyed all of the wines, but would have preferred a smaller tasting menu option for a lower cost, or at least the option of getting all seven pours at once and taking the drinks to one of the numerous open tables. The setting is beautiful, the wine is good, so if someone else is paying, you can get over being ignored by your server and don't mind bringing your own snacks, it's worth a stop. read more

It was my first and last time going there. We had a party of 15 people, which my friend had reserved 2 tables for. Upon our arrival at 2pm (on Saturday, May 8th) we were told they could combine our tables and sit us together. At this point we were not told the menu for our table would be limited. They sat us down and then told us we could only order Paninis and Salads. After a few back and forth trying to understand, we understood the issue was with it being a small oven an individual pizzas take a long time to make etc etc, (okay fine, I still don't understand, they still had other customers sitting outside, families of 6-7 eating pizzas! how was that any different if they kept us in 2 separate tables? We didn't even select our Panini's (which we had our favorites), they just gave us a mix of them with chips and salads (but in case you're wondering, they were pretty good!). This was the cherry on top for me... I asked the waitress if I could walk outside by the deck to take some photos, the view was beautiful. To which she answered no! we don't want to disturb the people sitting outside and because of Covid, tabs me on the shoulder and says "and you're a little loud". Please note, there were people taking photos out there, that's why I asked! In disbelief and shock, I didn't respond quick enough, but my friend's eyeballs across the table confirmed what my ears just heard. She made a couple more rude comments to others on our table and I immediately thought it was because we were Latinos, clearly this lady has never sat on a table full of Italians! (possibly other cultures) As I kept telling the story, people just seem in disbelief. You are at a winery, where people are drinking and enjoying themselves, at 2 o'clock in the afternoon and you tell someone they're a bit loud for your establishment, sorry, not just someone, a POC. Professionals, college educated, a few nurses in our group, etc... but clearly, she saw what she wanted to see. Funny thing when the bill came she had the NERVE to tell my friend that you can add extra gratuity, the "loud one" had to raise her voice and say, absolutely not! don't you dare give them an extra penny, that they did not earn. I frequent many bars/ restaurant in Atlanta/ Buckhead area and have never been treated as such. We also went to two other wineries on this day and had a fantastic time. This place was beautiful, the food was okay, I mean the Paninis, but I go back to places because of the experiences and service. This will not be a place I ever go back to. Tip to the Waitress: you want to call out loud, messy and unpleasant people, I suggest you go to a Mexican Restaurant on 5 de Mayo (or any day really) so you can know what being loud and obnoxious really is, cause your people can't really hold their liquor honey. read more

This place is a must go. The venue and scenery is gorgeous. I didn't see any lounging areas or picnics tables, but there is a beautiful patio that over looks the vineyard and the mountains. Their reds are fantastic. I didn't try the whites since my favorites are my wine of choice. They are opening during the week, which is when I went since I had family in town. It's a drive, but so worth it. They serve food during the weekends which is when I'm planning my next trip. read more

This is a decent place to go, but it's a lot fancier than we anticipated. The food was mediocre and the wine was overpriced. Our server visited our table one time and we waited 45 minutes for our check. There were very few patrons wearing masks and tables weren't spaced well. Many patrons walked past our table (within arms reach) unmasked. We didn't feel that they were taking Covid be dry seriously and our bill was $80 for two wine tasting and an entree. 18% Gratuity was included without our consent, and the server was not very good. read more

My hubs and I were just here this past weekend. We had a great time. I can see how some would question the customer service aspect of this place as there doesn't seem to be any protocol when you walk in. You basically are to just walk up to the bar and talk to the bartender to start the tastings. If the bar is crowded (like it was when we'd gotten there), you're basically stuck standing around until space at the bar becomes available. Now they do have dining (and seating for that), but we never saw a hostess of any kind or a waitress for that matter, so I assume you must order food at the bar (like we did) and take your stuff over to any table. Just know that this seems to be more of a "just wing it" kind of place. Nothing wrong with that, but it can be off-putting to someone who doesn't know that. Anyway, we enjoyed our tasting and our small plates (cheese, fruit, etc.). They have 2 wonderful patios (one that's covered) that has amazing views of the mountains and the vineyard. Moved to GA from CA...so I wasn't expecting much from the wine scene here. I was so pleasantly surprised! I agree with some of the reviewers on some negatives: the tasting room space is poorly used/laid out (the room is big, but tastings are at one small bar. They need to use more space, as this place gets BUSY!). The service at the very beginning was a little spotty (I feel like this might be a space issue - again because it was busy). The positives, however, FAR outweigh the negatives. The ladies that were working when we visited were spectacular. Very friendly, very knowledgeable about the wines, and very in the know about Dahlonega in general. And they gave my husband and I BOTH a glass...no clue what that other reviewer was talking about. If you don't get what you think you should have - speak up! Probably just a misunderstanding. The wines were very good. The sangiovese was to die for. So very good. I never buy bottles of wines at wineries (I feel like I can often find them cheaper elsewhere), and we got two of the sangiovese. My biggest complaint is that there is no place to write in a tip on the credit card slips. In a world where few people carry cash...I was horrified that I couldn't leave a tip. The owners need to do something about that. Stat. So, if you visit, please bring cash, because the gals who work there deserve a tip! Is Dahlonega Napa Valley? Um...no. But keep your expectations in check and you can have a great time. read more

Like most other reviews here, the view is incredible, but the service leaves MUCH to be desired. We went on a weekend afternoon to hear the live music they had on the deck. We had not tasted any of their wines previously and hoped to do a tasting, but the tasting room was jam packed shoulder to shoulder at the bar, with what appeared to be 2 people attempting to service the whole area. We skipped the tasting room chaos and headed outside and snagged a seat at a table and decided to just wing it on wine choices. After waiting 15 minutes or so, we FINALLY flagged down the only server waiting on the deck area, which probably had 20 tables at least and they were all full. The only options for food were several panini sandwiches, which did arrive very promptly once ordered. It took me another 30 minutes to get a check, and I had to tell our poor over-worked server what we had. The views are incredible from their deck, the live music was great and the wines we chose were good. We were not in a hurry that afternoon, and we always enjoy each other's company, but the chronically understaffed facility makes this a place I will not be in a hurry to go back to. read more

Frogtown - Vineyard Helpers! - Wineries Near Me - Dahlonega, Georgia

Frogtown is one of our favorite wineries in North Georgia! The first time we stopped by was actually during Hurricane Irma in Fall 2017. My husband and I had evacuated to North Georgia from Miami. You may remember that this hurricane ended up hitting North Georgia as well and high winds/fallen trees caused most places in the area to close. As the hurricane was hitting Dahlonega, we stopped by to see if Frogtown was open. Turns out Craig (the owner) was there and let us in even though he had planned on closing. We spent almost 2 hours with him talking about his life/family, winemaking, and what made Frogtown wines so special. We were beyond impressed with his hospitality and were the only ones there all afternoon! Craig's knowledge about wine is vast and his passion for Georgia estate-grown wines is admirable. We ended up tasting almost all of the wines (and he didn't charge us for anything besides the standard tasting) and we ended up purchasing several bottles. We promised if we were ever back, we would surely stop by again. Funny enough, we ended up moving to Atlanta just 6 months later! We headed back up to Frogtown after a day of hiking in North Georgia shortly after we moved and stopped in. We weren't planning on doing a tasting (although of course they ended up giving us several complimentary tastings) and just planned to just buy some more bottles (this had quickly become our favorite wine!). We ended up speaking to the man hosting our tasting for about an hour about new releases, upcoming events and we ended up joining the wine club! They treat their wine club citizens so so well-- we already feel like family! Recently, the opened their Italian Bistro for dinner so I took my husband for his birthday. They are certainly still working through the kinks of opening a restaurant, but the food was amazing and our server was very kind and attentive! Highly recommend checking out Frogtown! read more

We went there for wine tasting. The least expensive red wine flight was $22.00 for 3 two ounce pours. The wine was mediocre. That is being charitable. The service was worse. We were told when we were seated that they would be closing in 20 minutes due to a special event that evening. Then they proceeded to leave us sitting at the table with no service for several minutes. After taking our order, we again waited for several more minutes before they brought the wine. When they brought the tab, they had added a mandatory 18% tip to the bill. I guess they knew that the service wasn't worth a tip, so they guaranteed it up front. The view was nice, but I never plan to go there again. read more

We were going to visit this lovely looking vineyard but discovered a very abrupt rule with only the explanation that, "Dogs not allowed. It's against the law." Funny because we ended up going to Kaya close by. Found out the winery right next door to this location allowed dogs. After investigation we found out the law is, "customers shall not bring any live animals into any food facility". ... You guys are missing out on some people who have no choice but to bring their animals while on a trip because you have perfectly fine, legal, outdoor seating, but that's just my opinion. We ended up having a great time anyways at a neighboring vineyard that enjoyed our dog's company and she received many belly scratches. Im ok if you don't want dogs on the property. However, you need to own it. Don't just say "it's the law." read more

Frogtown Cellars is one of my personal favorite wineries in Georgia. Kind, and friendly staff, and a lovely place. I attended their Easter Sunday Brunch and had a lovely experience. Delicious food, and amazing wines. Not only is there Winery and tasting room beautiful, so is there vineyard. The patio had a beautiful view overlooking the vineyard. The staff at this Winery are so sweet and friendly, and the owners are very kind as well. They understand the true meaning of owners. Not to be there watching, not to be there doing nothing, but to be there to help, and fix the problems one might complain about. For these reasons I keep on going back. Frogtown Cellars deserves 5 stars to me, and definitely none less. read more

Great venue years ago. But the owner has decided to make it more friendly to his business than his customers. This includes the very expensive cement turn around having people park down a steep hill instead of near the venue, glasses of wine at half price of a bottle, and food way overpriced. This was actually our favorite winery out of all the ones we visited on our tours. It had one of the most beautiful overall venues, the wine was very good and the staff wa super friendly. It just had all the factors we wanted in a winery. It was one of the last places we visited as well. It wasn't at the top of my list because the tastings were more expensive at $15. However, you get plenty of wines and we really enjoyed each and every one of them. read more

This is usually the last stop after a day of wine tasting, but not because its the worst... because we actually like the wines the best! I've come here 3 times now. The first was during the wine highway weekend event. During that trip we stopped by mid day and Frogtown had a selection of cheeses out to pair with their best wines. We sat on the back porch in the rocking chairs and took in the view on a beautiful day. The next two times we had driven up to Dahlonega on a late Sunday afternoon for special events at other vineyards. Once those were complete (with just 30 minutes to closing both times) we headed to Frogtown. Both times, even though it was minutes to closing time, the staff greeted us friendly as ever and assured us there was plenty of time for a flight. They will gladly serve you two of the same flights, two different flights or if you are together ... let you taste as one. I saw this was a complaint on somebody else's review, but we enjoy it. Splitting a tasting is affordable and a perfect if your just looking to jolt your memory of your favorite wines before ordering a glass. Goldfish are offered in a bowl for tastings which is a little switch up on your average cracker between glasses. Also, you should know in advance that there are several dogs on the property that roam freely on the patio, indoors, and in the vineyard. I love dogs, so this is a highlight for me. However, I'm sure some people aren't a fan. I will say that the dogs, are friendly but definitely not in your face or bothering the visitors. They mostly keep to themselves enjoying a nice patio day as well! read more

Alright everyone. Buckle up for this experience. My good friend and I took our wives out to a winery after a hike to cleanse the soul. Sadly, the waitress, as well as the owner, proved our venture futile. We walked in and ordered the two tastings. Needless to say we were deeply saddened to find out that our waitress, as well as the establishment just wasn't up to par. The ambiance was ok. I mean it's nothing to call home about. But regardless we ventured on to try and supply our wives with an eventful evening. Again, sadly, it just wasn't up to par. Our waitress, who genuinely appears as if she hates her life and those around her took our order. Well, that order consisted of our wine tasting of 1 terrible glance of French white wine. This woman, who I think may have detested our presence 40 minutes until close, did not want to serve us. In fact, she brought us our first mediocre glass and then cleaned up the area which threw the vibe of get out of here (which we did). Which when I say cleaned up she took our glasses from us and our wives and whipped our area. I dunno. It was just such a bad shit storm of leave. Which again, we did. And don't be fooled by the owner. He's a bureaucrat that owned a law firm. I'm tan just not great. Don't waste your time. There's too many great vineyards in the area to waste your time. read more

We visited Frogtown winery on Mother's Day. The location is beautiful & the wine is good but the service & menu are definitely lacking. They charge an automatic service charge & when my husband asked about this, he learned that the wait staff do not receive this tip. We probably will not return. There are lots of choices in the Dahlonega area with much better food choices & wine with better service. read more

We've enjoyed their wine for years. Today we stopped for lunch also. (That won't happen again.) I ordered a Reuben sandwich, which always includes swiss cheese, pastrami, and sauerkraut. My sandwich was served with NO sauerkraut. First, it took about 5 minutes to catch the attention of our waitress, as she was too busy clearing tables and setting up for the next party. To make a long, annoying story short, it took about 15 minutes to finally be served kraut in a bowl. On top of that, I don't think that the cheese was swiss, it was probably mozzarella. For $19, Frogtown needs to do much better than that for my business. read more

I've been here multiple times and loved it. This last time I made a reservation two weeks in advance for my best friends birthday for a party of 14. Upon arrival the host was extremely rude to us for their mistake of losing the reservation. I understand things happen and this climate is tough, but the rest of the experience got worse. The host sat the party and was extremely rude, putting guests down for orders of bottles of wine even though we did not want to purchase them, and made rude comments to the group while rushing us. We thought "this is as bad as it could get" only to get proven wrong when one of the owners came up to speak to us and insult our taste in wine and tell us, and I quote, "I was told you guys would be difficult". I have never been insulted more. My group and I did not cause any trouble nor did we complain about a single thing. The only good thing about this experience was the wonderful service we got from the server, Lindsey. Never coming again. read more

When we pulled in we heard 4-5 people waking out talking about how poor the service was, this should have been a sign. We just wanted to split a bottle of wine so figured it would be hard to mess that up, we were wrong. Every staff member was extremely rude and condescending. The hostess looked past us several time so we decided to go to the bar. It took roughly 10-15 minutes to get acknowledged by the bar tender (two other couples total at the bar). While we were waiting we could not help but notice how dirty all the glasses they were serving were and the surprising amount of flys everywhere. The bar tender walked over to us and we placed the order. He told us they were out and walked away. Didn't offer any suggestions or alternatives. When he came back we just asked for whatever was similar. He rolled his eye and opened the bottle. When he pulled out the glasses they were covered in lip stick. Rather than getting the new glass he tried to take the glass to another room to wipe off and serve to use (disgusting). At this point we were over it. The 20 minutes we were there we saw at least 12 other people walk out due to the poor service. Leadership needs to get a wrap on this or they will continue to loose business. We drove 5 minute to a different winery and got great service. read more
