I visited this vineyard today with eight friends. We are in the area for a wedding this weekend and we're looking forward to a pleasant lunch. What a disappointment! I'll start with the positives..... the food was good, and the portions were plentiful. Someone in the kitchen is doing something right! The ambience is pleasant, building is nice and what a beautiful view! But here's where they lost us. First of all the servers were rude and in attentive. Our food arrived in staggered time frames, with no silverware provided until we asked, which required another several minute wait. There's nothing on the menu under $18 and they charge an automatic 18% gratuity (which is why the servers apparently don't need to care), and I whopping $6 to share a plate. When I asked one of the owners for a chilled bucket for our Sauvignon Blanc she said to me "Really? Really?? Really???, because really good wine should be served at room temperature". Perhaps she knows something more than I do about wine but but answering in that tone and manner was SO unprofessional and belittling a customer is never a good idea. The most surprising, though, was that her husband, and co-owner approached the table and asked us how our time had been. We smiled politely and didn't say much but as we were leaving I approached him privately and told him of my concern that there was no handicap parking (I have difficulty walking and have a handicap parking sticker). He made excuses for why they don't have them, why they are not held liable by the ADA to have them, and how it would be impossible to enforce, even if they did. Again, privately, another member of our party spoke frankly about the service we received and was treated with the same reaction......defensiveness, excuses, and an apparent inability and unwillingness to change anything. I've heard really good things but other vinyards in the area. That's where I will go next time. read more

We had a wonderful rainy afternoon at Frogtown! We came in and we're seated by the sweetest server and Brandy their precious dog. Our 13 year old son walked with the dog outside while we tasted some great red wines. He was welcomed which doesn't always happen - and we were appreciative of that! Our server helped us choose a wine and we ordered a charcuterie plate which was so yummy! I really wanted to love this winery. The place itself was beautiful both inside and out. Great covered patio seating. Worth it to stop just for the venue. However the food was overpriced, especially the charcuterie board. The wines were decent. Huge pour with the tastings, although I would have preferred smaller pours with more tastings instead of the 3 for $26. Just a tad overpriced for me. read more

I visited while in the region a couple months ago. The whole time I am at this winery they give me the impression they are about to close and kick me out for private event. Doesn't make me feel real valued. Either you are open and serve me like I am a valued customer or just close for the day. It rained while I was there but when it would occasionally clear up there are beautiful views from the patio. I ordered a cheese board and a flight. Service was slow and spotty. The wines are decent but pricey. I bought a bottle or two before I left. I opened one two days ago and it still tasted pretty good. So I guess I say 4 stars for the wine. 2 stars for bad service and high prices. read more

Beautiful venue, wines were just ok. They are more expensive than other local wineries, and honestly, the service was not great. Our server was more interested about talking to another table about her upcoming wedding than bringing our food, utensils, etc. Then we found out that they add a 18% gratuity to every check, but server said it's not really a tip, and we could add more on top of the 18% if we wanted. They just have the 18% due to the owner paying them a real hourly wage. In my dealings, this is called passing your costs onto the consumer. Sorry, won't be back since there are so many more great places around the area. read more

If i could give zero stars i would. We had dinner reservations at 630pm, but arrived at 5 to do a tasting. We were seated outside in the center of the patio, away from the picturesque scenery (which is actually beautiful, but despite asking to be seated there at an open table, we were told tables were reserved for a Harvest Festival. No one sat there the whole 2 hours). Our server came over shortly thereafter and we placed an order for flights of wine (3 pours for 20-30 dollars) but then we waited 35 minutes for our wine to arrive, at which point it was warm and had a bug floating in my white. Never saw that server again after that. The hostess came over after 45 minutes and explained she was taking over our table. We each ordered another glass of wine and asked if the restaurant had a separate seating area since we had a 630 dinner reservation. This was at 545. She told us to ask our other server? Very confusing. Our second glass of wine arrived around 615 and we asked again about dinner. The hostess who had now become our waitress said "oh I'm sorry the restaurant closed at 6". ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? So i asked how we were able to book dinner reservations via Open Table for a 630 dinner, and she didn't have an answer and instead offered us a cheese or charcuterie board. We of course accepted both since we've been drinking for 2 hours with no food (thinking we were gonna get a full Italian bistro dinner). OH. Went to use the bathroom and the handles were missing from the sink and you couldn't turn it on to wash your hands. EW. The cheese board was mediocre, served with stale crunchy bread and we were charged full price for everything, despite mentioning the slow service and failure to meet a dinner reservation on their part. We will absolutely NEVER come back to this winery and I would recommend it to no one. With a big name, we expected better and from service to wine to food, we were consistently let down. This is definitely a "must see" place! Beautiful location/scenery and gorgeous restaurant and tasting area, lots of beautiful wood beams like a grand lodge. Also, our server, Maggie, was fantastic! Maggie was very attentive, and full of joy! The manager, Sarah, who was also beaming with smiles and joy, took time to explain the wines to us and tell us details of the location and history, she was a pleasure to talk to. We arrived on a perfectly beautiful fall day to a stunning winery venue. After being greeted, but not impressed, we inquired about having lunch. While we were able to be seated, it was mass confusion & took sometime because we did not have a reservation. Once we were seated our server who was new, could not answer some basic questions about the winery, wine tasting, or the wines themselves. Eventually we got a food menu but then it took forever for anyone to take our order.We actually had to ask another waitress for help. We never saw our original waiter again. Curiously, EVERYTHING on the menu was $22 and a $6 up charge if you split your order. Piazza $22 Sandwiches $22 Salads $22....we noticed other orders being served and the portion was too much for one of us to eat so we split a piazza which came with a small salad for each of us. Thus the $6 up charge? It seemed like forever until we got our order and the piazza, a Margharita, was not good. It was lukewarm warm, the crust was hard, the tomatoes were hard and they had a green tinge as though they were not ripe. The salad was okay but better than the piazza. We did have a 3 glass wine tasting at the table for an extra $20. Each glass had about 2 sips in it and not too impressed by the taste. We eventually had enough and decided it was time to go. We had to send out a posse to pay our bill because there was only one person doing that for the entire restaurant. All in all WE had a great time being together, but not at the Frogtown Winery! If your expectations are LOW this is the place for you. It's a tourist trap with expensive terrible food and service. read more

The service was attentive until they turned the lights off while we were finishing dinner. Yes they really did that while the owner was talking to us. Everything about this place was just perfect. From the moment we entered we were happily greeted by the hostess and ushered to an area where we enjoyed an impressive wine flight. Then, when our table was ready, we sat in their scenic dining room which included castle themed decor and amazing Mountain View's. The service was quick and friendly. We visited here on a self guided tour of wineries for the weekend and when we arrived there was a party and the main winery and restaurant was closed to the public. They had a little side bar area but as we were trying to figure out where to sit, it was so crowded and very small. We decided it wasn't going to be enjoyable so we left. Frog town is very pretty & we loved sitting outside for our wine tasting. We had just eaten so didn't have any food here. Of the 6 wines we tried I only liked one & hubs didn't like any. Which was very surprising for us. It's worth visiting just for the views though. read more

My friend and I were doing a wine tour and stopped at this spot. Big mistake!! The parking was awful on a steep hill! When we entered the restaurant we waited for almost 15 min for someone to approach us. The hostess had a horrible snobby attitude, like she was looking down us and I know she saw us come in and intentionally ignored us until others entered behind us. We were seated and then no one ever came to get our order, others seated after us were getting service. Apparently this establishment has a profile that they would prefer to serve. Aside from that they sat us on the porch and the entire back of the building is literally rotting out and that made me wonder if the wood balcony we were on was also rotting. We stopped in on our way home from Vogel state park. The food was ok and the view is very nice. The service was good and although the interior of the restaurant/wine room was clean the outside was in much needs of a groundskeeper. The area was cluttered and the building itself needed a good power washing. They also charge a 18% gratuity charge but the server said that went to the restaurant and not to them. If this is true that's not really fair to the servers. Unless their hourly wage is subsidized by this amount. Their food prices are already pretty steep. The food was ok not complaining but just to let you be aware we are a family of 4. With two boys 9,11 and our lunch with tip was over $120.00. It might be time for some outside clean up and the 18% should maybe be recalculated in a different way. read more

Beautiful views! We sat outside on the covered patio in a thunderstorm and it was stunning. The wines unfortunately were just okay and priced a little high at that. The food was good, I had the BLTA panini, it's impossible to make anything with bacon and avocado taste bad but the bread was the star of the show. Buyer beware. We have been trying for 2 years to cancel wine club membership to no avail. We finally call Amex and ask them to block charges and guess what Frogtown changed their vendor ID number and charges went through. Now Amex said we have to cancel card and get a new card to avoid future charges. Very upset former customer. read more

They are too understaffed for large groups and they cannot control large groups that's are clearly disruptive. The venue and location are beautiful and again, the food excellent. Visited Feb. 16, 2019. Best wines of all the wineries we visited. Beautiful venue also. It was pretty crowded, but the service was not bad. I can see why some folks would complain about the service. It's not as good as many of the other wineries. Still, these people were crazy busy, so give them a break! Bought 4 of the 6 wines we tasted in our flight. Most reasonably priced also. We went with the sweet flight. Not too sweet, very good! We also visited Wolf Mountain, Accent, and Cavender Creek. Wolf Mountain - Beautiful winery. Worst wines of all. Overpriced, and nothing better than you'd pick up at Costco. I'm being serious. But, if you're looking for ambiance, this is your place. Also, crazy crowded and parking is challenging. Would not go back. Accent - Most attentive service. Best explanation of wines. We learned a lot and never felt rushed. Great people here! Very tasty wines. Would definitely return. Great winery! Cavender Creek - A few good wines. Nothing spectacular. A little stingy with the tasting servings. Great music. We might return here. read more

By far the best collection of wines in North Georgia. Master of reds. Venue ability is catching up with growth. Brunch and food was frustrating a year ago because it was new but the staff is killing it now. Super attentive and knowledgeable staff when it comes to wines and all the happenings at the winery. Weekends are a bit busy for my taste but I'll suck it up to have another tasting! Filled up the home racks with Norton, Merger and the 2017 East/West Cab Francs!!! This review is for the horrible service. We came here the Monday after 4th of July and they were complete understaffed. Only one girl running the whole place and there are about 15 tables occupied. She was super nice and trying to do the best she can so I blame management for not planning better. Tables were not cleared and it took forever for us to even get a tasting. I've had two terrible experiences at this place in the last month, so I felt the need to warn others so you don't have a similar experience. I came last month for a wine tasting, our waitress was so negative about the owner deciding last minute to open to the public despite them having a private event later that day and complained the entire time. On top of that, we waited 45 minutes to get our wine flight. Never once did the server apologize for the delay or have anything positive to say. We couldn't get out of there fast enough. Despite the terrible first experience, I decided to go back for dinner ONLY because there aren't many dinner options close by. We made a 7:00 dinner reservation on Open Table, when we arrived the hostess let us know the kitchen would close at 7:30 and the restaurant closed at 8 aka eat fast and get out of here. I would've left at this point, if we weren't starving from a day of wine tasting. She also informed us that half their menu was unavailable- they only serve pizza and pasta but were out of pizza. Once we were seated, the flies were so bad that they immediately got into 2 of the 3 glasses of wine. When we made our server aware, she didn't apologize and said that she would see what she could do. She did replace our wine, but acted like it was a big deal. After we finished our meal, we were informed that there was an automatic 18% gratuity for 3 people, which in my opinion they definitely didn't earn. Poor service, overpriced, wine selection was not good and did not taste good. Pizza was also not good and completely not worth the money they are charging. But the best of all - waitress at the end comes with the check saying there's an 18% service charge which goes to the restaurant, so tip on top of that!?! With your already overpriced menu, you guys are adding on top of that? Reading other reviews now and it appears that the service charge is to pay the waiters higher hourly rates. This review is not about the wines which we thoroughly enjoyed, nor the food which was pretty good, nor the service which given the situation the servers did an outstanding job. This review is about how bad managment planning can really ruin a good time. My wife and I went up on the Sunday of Labor Day Weekend. Frogtown booked a wedding for that day and the main building was closed. We found that out when we tried to go in to the main building. So everyone was directed to the tasting room or the covered patio outside. It soon became apparent that no one at Frogtown had planned that people might come that were not involved in the wedding. We got seated on the patio and as it started to fill up the server was totally overwhelmed. Nothing was setup on the patio for the server to help them with their job. The server on the patio had to carry cardboard boxes of wine, water bottles, silverware, etc. that she was filling in the main building. Other servers were literally running between the main building and tasting room with trays of food. So service was really slow, great but slow. All of the staff we came across was pretty stressed out as they realized that they were woefully unprepared for the day. While we were there none of the customers made a bad comment about the servers, but had plenty of bad comments on who planned the day. The word 'cluster****' was said more than once. Will probably go back but I am going to call first to see if they have an event going on. read more
