We enjoyed every wine we tasted and if we weren't flying home, we would've bought more than just 3 bottles. They have a variety of dry and sweet wines, as well as beers and slushees. Their tasting bar was spacious, and there's also a store with a variety of items for sale as well. We also had a great tasting experience with Katie who was very personable and did a good job balancing chatting about the wines with us, and helping other customers as needed. Veteran's Day Visit...... Arrived about 2:30pm. Walked in excited to taste & purchase some wine. They were not busy at all. We ordered a flight to taste & had just paid when the 2 workers (man & older woman with long hair) became very unfriendly. We were scowled at & they started talking about how they should have bern closed. Then the lady said she would be retiring soon & would not have to deal with customers anymore. My husband & I were shocked & this was before we got our flight & this was said within 2 feet of us. Afterwards others started coming in & they were the same way. Just one thing: WINE SLUSHIES! and say less!! These can be found at Habersham Winery in Alpine Helen along a selection of Georgia produced wines and gourmet foods including imported cheeses and other things perfect for picnics! This winery is also one of Georgia's oldest and largest wineries and they're open daily for wine tastings. The gift shop also has so many cute wine related items it was so hard not to want everything. I got a coaster for my little collection and I think it is the cutest one I own. The staff is super friendly and they help you pick the right wine for you. You can also buy full bottles. Visit Habersham winery if you're in the area! It's half the price of most other tastings in the area. T A S T E These wines were average in taste but I appreciated getting the opportunity to taste a bubbly red wine which I hadn't before. I also appreciated the way that they split up their menu into the following three areas: dry, semi dry/bubbles, sweet. I'm a dry wine type gal so I enjoyed the dry wines. I tried 2 bubbly/semi-sweet wines and they were too sweet for me. They had a sweet blackberry wine and since Blackberry is one of my favorite flavors I was enticed to try it. The girl helping us discouraged it just because she said it would probably be too sweet. My sister went ahead and ordered that particular blackberry wine for one of her tastings and I had a sip of hers and once it was definitely enough. It was quite sweet. But tasty. S E R V I C E Honestly the service is what bumped up this review from 2 stars to 3 stars. Dana was the person helping us and she was absolutely amazing. She was so welcoming and so friendly, as soon as we walked up to her she had a big smile and was ready to help us and explain to us the process. She did a really good job of explaining each and every wine, where they are grown, where we should taste the wines on our palate and even the best way to get flavor out of the wines. We stopped by here to do a wine tasting while in the area after going to Creekstone Winery. Here is what we tried: Vivante Bubbly Blanc (Habersham) - good Chalet White (Habersham) - a good sweet riesling GA White Muscadine (Southern Harvest) - just okay; have had much better muscadine wines. Belle Blush (Southern Harvest) - Good Peach Treat (Southern Harvest) - a good peach wine, but we definitely have had better peach wines. Concord (Southern Harvest) - okay Heritage Red (Southern Harvest) - very good muscadine wine. Granny's Arbor (Southern Harvest) - a good blackberry wine. Winemaker's Experiment (Southern Harvest) - our server told us this was one of the most popular wine's. Kevin liked this one, but I did not care for it much, just meh. Bubbly Blush (Southern Harvest) - this was good, the bubbly version of Belle Blush. I preferred this version more. This is a wine we tried at Creekstone. Interesting thing to note - they serve their wines and also wines from Southern Harvest and Creekstone Wineries. Southern Harvest no longer has a tasting room in Statesboro, but you can now have them at Habersham or Creekstone wineries. They are now bottled in a building near Creekstone Winery. They were the wines that we enjoyed most. I'm not sure the need to have the some of the wines that Creekstone has though since Habersham is just up the road from Creekstone. They should really point out the same Southern Harvest wines you can taste at Creekstone. It wasn't until I noticed the bottle our server was about to pour that I realized we had already tried some at Creekstone - so I wanted to opt for something different to try then. He did say he should have mentioned that knowing we had come from Creekstone. Overall though, we only tried two true Habersham wines, while good, we enjoyed the Southern Harvest wines the most. We left with a bottle of the Southern Harvest Heritage Red. Would recommend if you are in the area just to try, but probably my least favorite winery in the Helen area. read more

Nice place but the worst customer service I have ever seen. The young lady we had the unfortunate opportunity to speak with was walking misery. After my wife commented that there could be no reason for her behavior we were asked to leave ! wow. I was stunned. Yes they were busy but still no excuse. We left and visited a winery down the road called Creek Stone. They were also busy but extremely nice. Our severs name was Patsy. We left with about $200 worth of product. Not much but not a bad sell either. If you visit good luck and watch for the broom that must be in the parking lot, we missed it! read more

She let me try it. You get to keep the wineglass when you buy a glass. When you bring the glass back it is 2 dollars off the glass wine. Known as merchandising. I like the slushies here! They're pretty popular. Habersham is located in a little grouping of local businesses doing very well. Their wines are pretty good but what I really like about this place is the choch! I must admit I like sweet wines ok I LOVE sweet wines!! You have to stop in and try this place if you are ever in Helen. GA. Sherm had the Revival Pilsner and I had the Georgia peach. Nothing spectacular and a little overpriced, but like I mentioned, I do love the chochkies. read more

Hambersham has a pretty building, but the wines were just okay and the service was unfriendly. I've never been so rushed to finish a tasting within 5-10 minutes. There was minimal conversation about the wines from our server. For $10 you get a tasting of half-filled little Dixie cups of five wines of your choosing. Many of their wines were muscadine/sweet (yuck), and they did have some drier wines but none were barrel-aged. Bottom line: The atmosphere (4 stars) is better than the wine (3 stars) There is not much to do other than hike in this area and this winery was a welcomed exception. I loved the covered patio thanks to all the fans swirling. With COVID, I really appreciated that masks were required and they even provided hand sanitizer. I read rave reviews about the Scarlet wine and the Peach wine. The $10 tasting was a great value except on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend they were already out of 2 of their top wines. Ugh. You cannot compare this to CA or European wines. It isnt fair. But these wines, even with much grace, aren't good. My fiance and I aren't stuffy wine drinkers. While a glass of wone is totally drinkable, there were no wines that were palatable enough to get through an entire bottle. Is it worth going for a tasting? Absolutely. Helen, Ga one of my annual to the woods waterfallin trip for rest... I will start off by saying the place is lovely, the people were warm and friendly. I really loved all the beautiful decor thru out the whole winery! They even have yummy chocolate wine cups/ wine! $5.00 When you walk in you need to sign up on a list before going to the bar area. Wine is wine right, not really.....Its more to it than jus serving behind a bar. Our server wasnt really knowledgeable, nor talkative. I tried to ask questions but she wasnt feeling it. I tasted 5 wines for $7.50, we also tasted the slushies $5.00 for the first, $7.00 for second. This whole area was expensive for southern living. Very fun. Paid $7.50 for 5 tastings and you get to keep the glass. We had a blast with Bebe. She did a great job interacting with the customers and provided great recommendations. I really enjoyed the Chambourcin. It was my favorite especially with chocolate. I plan on making brownies and serve with the wine. I also enjoyed the Muscadine. It would be great on a hot day because it is light and refreshing. We went when they opened and really enjoyed it because it was not crowded. I've been to Helen a number of times and passed this winery and never thought of stopping in for a wine tasting. My sisters and I decided at the last minute to drive up from Atlanta, after Hurricane Irma, killed our dreams of going to Florida. The deciding factor was the $7.50 cost for the wine tasting. There were a number of wines to choose from (about 20 or so) and you get to choose 5 to taste and get a souvenir wine glass. Our sommelier Cassandra was very knowledgeable and very helpful. She even told us about the wine festival they have in Helen every May, so I'll be back for that. The tasting is at the bar in the store/gift shop and it looks like they can probably accommodate about 15 people at a time, there were 5 in our group. I'm not sure what their peak time is, but we went around 2:00 and there were only 4 other people there for a tasting. You can also see the room where the wine is made from the bar, however, they don't do tours for that area. Cassandra told us why, but it slips my mind. They also sell glasses of wine and wine slushies for a minimal cost, if you buy them after the tasting it's $2 off. They also give a discount (I think $2 off as well) if you purchase a bottle of wine after the tasting. We purchased a bottle of wine and sat out on the patio and chatted for a while. It was a very nice space to just relax and unwind and I'd definitely consider coming back. And it is also a nice get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. There was lots of parking out front and the winery is right on the hill as you enter the downtown area of Helen so it's easy to see. read more

The Wine Slushee, atmosphere and friendly staff brought us back three times during our Oktoberfest visit to Helen. The wine tasting is $12 per person for 5 tastes. Most of the wines are fruit based. The wine makers experiment was not our favorite. The bottles of wine are reasonable between $15-$25. Anslee and Chip were friendly and educated us on our wine tasting selections and even offered a suggestion of getting a wine slushee swirl telling us it was the most popular with customers. This is the first vineyard stop we made on our trip in Georgia. Everyone we spoke to had great things to say about the vineyard so we were really excited to try it out. Walking in we were greeted by 3 smiling faces who were very welcoming. We walked over to the bar area and immediately knew we wanted to do a wine tasting. The wine tasting includes 5 different wines of your choice and a glass to take home for $7.50! Caleb was the one helping us and he gave us what looked like a little placemat with a pencil to choose your wines. The explanations of each wine were very detailed so it helped it choosing the exact ones I knew I would like. I have to say all of the wines were pretty amazing (better than I expected) but I did have a few favorites. While we were doing our tasting Sara and Bebe also came over to talk to us about the wines and give us a few pointers for our trip. And here's the thing for me, I would much rather have a selection of 3 exceptional wines than be offered a selection of frozen wine infused drinks and 15 different average wines. We took the wine tasting experience to try and learn the best of this winery. You get to pick 5 wines and a souvenir glass for $7.50. Prices are reasonable and there are some cheeses and other items in their retail area. Honestly, for me, none of the wines were worthy of leaving an impression. What really left the impression was the ambiance and the people here. Fun spot to go sip on okay wine, while listening to some local musicians in their lovely covered patio area and be served by enthusiastic wine savvy stewards.
