I chose the pernil (pork) with yellow rice, fried plantains, a couple chicken and pork empañadas, and couple potato balls. (Yea... I'm HUNGRY and greedy). Took my order to go and am sitting in the hairdresser's stuffing my face. It's good. The empañadas are nice and crisp with tasty meat filling. The potato balls are quite big. I haven't gotten to the actual meal yet... still stuffing my face with round one. I'll come back later to update.

Hola Restaurant is one of the rare places that gives you both since the moment you walk in. I first discovered Hola about 4 years ago when I was working near Island Pond. Every Friday, my coworkers and I looked forward to ordering from there. We'd all pitch in for breakfast or lunch, and my boss would pick up our order. It quickly became our Friday tradition, and honestly, it was always the highlight of the workweek. Over the years, Hola has become much more than just a restaurant to me. I've trusted them to cater my baby shower and my son's birthday, and every single time they exceeded my expectations. Whenever friends or family come to visit, Hola is one of the first places I take them because I know they'll leave impressed, not just by the food, but by the experience. The food is consistently fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. No matter what we order, it never disappoints. Even now, living about 40 minutes away, I still make the drive because it's simply that good. What truly sets Hola apart, though, is the people. The woman who cooks is one of the sweetest, most loving people you'll ever meet, and the staff makes you feel like you're walking into a family member's home rather than a restaurant. They remember your name, they remember your family, and they genuinely ask how everyone is doing. Those little moments mean so much because they make you feel seen, appreciated, and welcomed every single time you walk through the door. We were one of six tables within the facility that were occupied. Our server came over and greeted us after about five minutes of sitting, so we'd already knew what we wanted to order. We placed our order and waited about 37 minutes for the food to come out. During the time we waited, all the table next to us did was complain. They complained the music was too loud, they complained the service wasn't fast enough, and then when they got their check to pay, the server accidentally placed the itemized receipt of another table on their table. Good lord, that caused the man to absolutely flip out. Very loudly he goes "ARE YOU KIDDING, CANT THEY DO ANYTHING RIGHT?" which was so very offputting. He flagged the server down who apologized tenfold. Our food came out, it looked...well..you can see from the pictures. The mushrooms and calamari were just disappointing. The mushrooms were very dry and could have used a lemon wedge, if not some kind of sauce. The calamari I had specifically ordered because it was named "Calamari RINGS Rhode Island Style" but when it came out, the plate was full of the body/tentacle style which I do not eat. The breading was also not crispy in the least, it was soft and soggy. Calamari should have that crunch to offset the seafood. The marinara was also very watery. My daughter (8) thought her pasta was okay, she didn't touch the meatballs but we took her leftovers home. This was the first time I'd been to Tony and Penny's in over a dozen years. It turns out it is Dominican food with a touch of Puerto Rican dishes! The best of both worlds! Additionally- the food is not set up cafeteria style like a lot of Spanish restaurants- The food is under heat lamps behind the counter. For some people that's off putting because they assume it's not fresh or tastes like it is has been sitting under the lamps for days - not so! Everything is fresh and amazing! They have all the classics; yellow rice and gandules, white rice, habichuelas rosada, pernil, baked chicken. They have quite a few of guisadas (stews) to pick from all loaded with onions, peppers etc; chicken, pork, beef, oxtail, as well as viandes. They have empanadas, alcapurrias, sorrullitos de maiz, rellenos de papa (potato balls) in a smaller case. My favorite is the goat aka the Chivo. It is so fall apart tender -I've had it three times already! The young gentleman behind the counter has always waited on me. He is super polite, quick to smile and humors my bad Spanglish with none of the pretentious ways that I have experienced in other Spanish restaurants. This is really important to me because it tells me of the love that they have for their food and the respect that they have for their customers. I've come in on different times of day and the food is always fresh tasting. Prices are very reasonable for the portions. During this last visit my husband had their pasteles. Oh so good! They also had sancocho. - I've asked the owners and they said that their business is steadily picking up. They are working on getting money for advertising. Most of their traffic comes from word of mouth There is another Spanish restaurant in Chicopee that has a similar name-(Sabor Latino) -but I very much feel that the cooking style are night and day.
