It was a Monday afternoon, so let's start there: - The welcome was somewhat lukewarm; the staff member cleaning in the back didn't greet us when she saw us, which would have been nice. - I ordered the lengua (tongue stew). It was cooked perfectly, but it was only lukewarm to my preference. Overall, the taste was good. - The tajadas and mariquitas weren't crunchy--they were soggy. - My wife ordered carne asada and asked for it well done, but it arrived medium. Maybe in a Nicaraguan restaurant, temperature isn't a big deal--"just eat it," as they say! Decor it's pretty simple with touch of Nicaragua culture. Very good! I like eating here when I'm in the mood for a different vibe. I love these rice and beans and carne Asad. The portions are huge and prices reasonable. The ladies that serve the food are always very nice, pleasant and don't have any issues answering any questions about the dishes. I eat here at least once a week. read more

02/24/26 - Grubhub Delivery This was our first time trying this restaurant. We were craving Nicaraguan food and decided to order delivery since it's far from us and we were feeling lazy. I didn't mind spending $123 to get my Nica fix, but unfortunately the experience was disappointing. The food overall felt lackluster, and the portions didn't match the pricing. Even outside of delivery markups, I wouldn't spend this amount again. Maybe it was an off day. What we ordered: * Carne Asada (Marinated Strip Steak) - $18.95 Not bad. * Queso Frito - $5 Very small portion for the price. * Quesadilla Nicaragüense - $8.75 We didn't eat it after being disappointed with the rest. * Nicaraguan Nacatamales - $12 Also didn't eat due to overall disappointment. * Vigorón Fritangón - $16.95 Okay, but the pork portion didn't match the price. * Masitas de Cerdo Frito Not good -- dry and lacking flavor. * Ensalada de Repollo - $5.65 Okay. Additional notes: The yuca was dry and flavorless, and there were no limes included, which are essential for these dishes. On the positive side, the rice and beans were good. Cute hidden gem! You don't see many Nicaraguan restaurants past pines so seeing this I knew I had to stop on my way home. I ordered the carne asada platter which comes with gallo pinto (rice and beans) snd your choice of side. I got the fried plantain chips or tajadas. I also had a side of their fried cheese. They do cook the meat to the finish of your choice which I have never seen so that was cool. Due to that there is a little wait. Now for the taste...overall I give it a 3 because of the taste. I have tried many Nicaraguan spots in Miami (being from there). And well this one just didn't hit the same. I felt like the rice and beans couldve had a little more taste and the meat was well seasoned but was also served with chimichurri which I found interesting. The price I was also surprised about. The place outside looks nice but I think the food menu not being accurate & letting the cashier know they aren't willing to match it, they do not let you know either. Fritangon Nica is a great spot to order traditional Niceraguan food. You can get a large platter with so many combinations like pico de gallo (rice and beans), beef, chicken, or pork, and sides like sweet plantains and fried cheese. If you get a platter with meat, they will cook the meat in front of you. Everything always tastes so fresh, which is worth the little wait. Gave Fritangon Nica a try and was NOT disappointed!! As soon as we walked in the cook and server immediately greeted us. As well as the owner, showing us great hospitality. Now for the food, the carne asada was perfectly cooked, tender and juicy, the gallo pinto was full of flavor and my tajadas were freshly made... and let's not forget the queso frito! I'm drooling just thinking about it. I live in north Florida, but originally a Nicaraguan from Miami, so getting to take my family to indulge in this delicious food was definitely a very much missed treat for us. First time trying Nicaraguan food. I really want to see what their style of tamales is so I got it. Warning: this is steaming hot! They make it when you order it. It's wrapped in foil and it's very hot to touch it! I still had it wrapped right after 10-15 mins and it was still very hot. There was still steam inside. I got spicy version. There is a kick but it's not super spicy. It's definitely a good portion of tamale. It's very seasoned and tasty. There's rice inside and I did find one small meat bone but that's a okay. The meat is very tender and not tough. There are some peppers and seeds inside but it's not super spicy. Btw I can handle medium spicy. My friend got carne asada and she said it's good. It smells good too. When I come back, I'll try other items on the menu. But I definitely get tamale again! read more

The gentleman that took our order I believe his name is Mark. Very rude. Myself and another coworker went there for lunch. We both ordered the skirt steak with fried cheese and white crème sauce. First he almost didn't want to serve me since I was not Hispanic. Second he then charged a total of $50 for both plates and an addition $5 for a very small container of white crème. Mark was very rude and should be reprimanded for his customer service skills. The quality of the food at best was "ok". The lady did try to give us a larger container of the white crème which we declined. I would not recommend this place due to the fact the of horrible customer service. read more

I'm from Nicaragua so I love fritanga! This place is legit. Food is delicious and authentic. Main thing is that the prices are on the higher end side (not typical "fritanga" prices). It was exciting to see a Fritanga on Sterling Road in the plaza where Brother's Farmers market is located. When I stopped by, they were having their soft opening. The place was clean and well organized. I ordered Carne asada. It came with rice and beans. I had a choice of sweet plantains of fried plantain chips. The meat was cooked to order which was nice. There were many other options in the case to choose from. I saw huge Nacatamals which I will have to try next time. The meat was cooked just right and had excellent flavor. The rice and beans were lacking a bit. The plantains were cooked just right. The cabbage slaw that comes with the dish was finely sliced and all balanced. We were so excited to try this Fritanga in Davie, and was so disappointed! First thing we noticed is they have no prices displayed anywhere, and was so expensive! We got 2 meals, 3 sodas, ( were old and no gas) and 2 tacquitos and paid $60 plus! Everything was old, hard, and cheap quality. Refried beans were cold and a tiny shot cup size, tacos were hard and meat tasted old, gallo pinto was so hard and old, meat was not enough, served me more onions than meat and not enough sauce! Won't be going back anytime soon, not worth it! Only thing good was the service, nice people! They need to at least fix up their food to be charging so much! read more

If I could this place 0 stars I would. I try to be very fair and just with my ratings and I do not like rating low. I placed my order through Uber eats for pick up. I ordered the rice & beans, breaded fish, and fried cheese. I arrived home after picking up the food and was very excited. I opened my container, tried the fish first which was extremely salty to the point that it irritated the tip of my tongue. But what I saw in my rice was the longest, thickest, black hair embedded in the rice. I was so grossed I almost threw up. I immediately drove to the store and informed them and the employee up front took the container, opened it and asked if I wanted a new order or just the rice to which I said just rice is fine. She proceeded to serve the food with no mask, no gloves, and none of the employees, who all had long hair, wore a hairnet. I was very grossed out and had lost all my appetite. read more

My daughter orders from here all the time and tonight she brought me take out. I had the pechuga de pollo en chimichurri, gallo pinto, yuca hervida and quest frito. Everything was very good. The chicken with the chimichurri sauce poured over was really juicy and had great flavor. They give you a spicy orange sauce too. Pouring it over the yuca made it slightly spicy and really good. Rice and beans were very tasty too. I thought the portions were nice sized for the price. I'm glad there's a Nicaraguan place closer to me than Pembroke Pines. So after hearing that this place was good I decided to give it a try and not many fritangas around my neighborhood. This is definitely not authentic. The meat was flavorless, and weird taste to it. The meat taste like liver for some odd reason. Gallo pinto (rice & beans) they are better in pollo tropical. The plantains were tasty and also the fried cheese was good. But other that that definitely not authentic. Really wish We had a really good authentic Nicaraguan eatery around here in Broward :/ I'm going to still have to drive to Miami for some Fritanga. read more

Food was excellent..The Carne asada was a little different than other fritangas in taste but it was really good.. the meat portion was kinda small for the price. The prices overall seem a little steep..for example the Carne Asada meal which comes with your choice of sweet plantains or plantain strips and Gallo pinto(beans and rice mixed) is almost $13..thats not even including the queso frito which is usually a must! So with the fried cheese the meal is $16. overall food was good but I probably will never go back because of the prices. I prefer making a drive to Pinolandia or go to La Hormiga de Oro on pines where you get good portions for the price and food is just as good.
