Came in for lunch yesterday and last Wednesday!!!! Don't judge me. I love food. I usually visit this place one to two times a month. I've been on this buffalo chicken sandwich kick and they make a bomb a$$ sandwich here. I get extra ranch on the side...because Texas. Sometimes I get mixed veggies and sometimes I get their mashed potatoes. Pretty sure those mashed potatoes have crack sprinkled in them. I love Frío Grill for different reasons. First, I love that it's so close to Fairfield and always has plenty of parking. I usually order their ceviche which is fresh and delicious. Tough to find in this part of Houston. Their queso is great. And they offer a wonderful brunch on Sunday. read more

Went here for a date night and was impressed that something other than a chain restaurant had opened in Cypress. We showed up on a Friday night with no reservations. They had a chalk board that showed an hour wait and we almost didn't stay but we went in and we were seated right away! Lucky us. We enjoyed the feel of the restaurant with its hill country decor and charm. We ordered the West Texas Quail bites which were bacon wrapped and placed a top cheese grits with a gravy. They came out right away and the tastes of the grits mixed with the bacon wrapped quail we knew we chooses a great appetizer. We ordered drinks came out right away the have a specialty menu with craft drinks as well as a wine list and a beer list. It seems to have all the essentials. There are no prices on the drink menu but they are no different then if you went to a bar and ordered drinks there. For dinner my wife orders the West Texas Pecan Crusted Bourbon Chicken with the garlic smash. I will be ordering this next time. The pecan flavor in the crust was not overpowering and it wasn't barely there. The right amount made for great flavor. I order the Mango & Citrus Flame Grilled Mahi Mahi it was flaky and not fishy in taste it came with a mango chutney. The only thing about the chutney is the mango flavor was muted other than that everything about the Mahi was delicious. We tried to order the pecan pie for dessert but we were too late and they ran out. So next time. We enjoyed this place and as far as the prices on the menu you pay for quality and this is quality food. Will be coming back because Cypress needs more than fast food or another chain restaurant. read more

I loved this restaurant! Well, we heard about it so decided to try it out on a Thursday afternoon. The weather was beautiful, so we sat outside. They had tons of outdoor games to play while we waited on our food, which didn't take long at all. My friends and I got a cocktail, which was poured a little heavy, just the way I like it. Frio is a laid back restaurant in Cypress. The brunch menu is limited and the portions are large. I was disappointed to find out there was no eggs Benedict as it's a classic for any brunch. Had a great dinner last night at Frio! We had a large party and they told us it could be 1.5 hour wait. It was a little less than an hour. We had drinks and kids played outside... it was getting cold so we asked if they would light the fire pits and they did so quickly. They were cool about letting my 9 year old "help." Our waitress was great... she took our order and our food and drinks showed up FAST! The food was amazing!!! Can't wait to go back again and sit outside on their patio! Also, they take reservations on Open Table which I would recommend if you have a large group and going on a weekend night. Our latest visit was our 3rd with a group of 10 adults, 2 kids, 1 toddler. We had thoughts of sitting outside, but due to the coolness, we asked Valerie if we could move inside. She was able to seat us in the wineroom. For my husband and I, this has been our second time in the wineroom in about 3 weeks, and I want to give a shoutout to the manager for making this happen for us. Because of the great service, my husband and I and friends have continued to come at least once a month as a group. The food and drinks are also a plus. Will never try that place again. Went down the street to a great little hole in the wall burger place and the owner was great we were told you were not going to take our order for 30mins and yes other restaurants in the area were very accommodating during busy lunch hrs it's called a business and trying to please your customers. After checking the menu we ordered shortly after but our food took forever to arrive. Matter of fact I had to ask the waiter to please check on the status. He quickly returned with our food and when I saw my plate (Which was the green chili hash browns with sausage & egg) i had to ask the waiter if it had been sitting under a warmer for awhile because that's what it looked like. He assured me that it "had just come out". Well, it taste like it had been sitting for awhile. My wife wasn't to pleased with her waffle w/fruit either. We went to Frio for Mother's Day Brunch and the place was just a mess. We had reservations, but there was a line just to get to the hostess stand. We waited in line for about 15 minutes before we could even check in. Then they said it will be a short wait for our table- ok, fine. 15 minutes go by and we check on it...the host said they were clearing the table and it would just be a second. 15 minutes later....they say they are clearing the table and will just be a couple more minutes. Clearly they were lying about actually clearing the table. Another 15 minutes later (45 minutes past the reservation time), we ask for the manager. The manager told us that we showed up late and our table was given away. What?! No. We were five minutes early, but the hostess was nowhere to be found and there was a line to check in! No apology from the manager for blaming it on us...he then just blamed the table they were waiting on for sitting around too long. We finally got a table about an hour after our reservation. Food was good. Nothing spectacular. Service was good. But no compensation offered for the hour wait after our reservation, or rude treatment by the manager. After asking, one of the meals was comped. In the end, it was a nice Mother's Day Brunch. But it was a struggle getting to that point. read more

We go to Frio at least three times a month, and we always ask for Valerie! Her awesome service along with the delicious food makes this our favorite neighborhood spot! I would call this upscale southern food (still extremely casual), but not your greasy fried southern food. The sauces they choose to accompany the entrees are awesome and the sides pair perfectly as well. The dishes are huge and prices are very reasonable. there are great drink specials throughout the week! You can sit outside and have the kids run around the private lot, or sit inside in the A/C and enjoy the great tunes they always have playing. read more
