So if you read my earlier post about this place you know that I already thought it was a great place. But recently they showed me that not only are they a awesome bar with a great staff. But if you are in need of a place to have a work get together or private party, they got you covered. Justin the manager handled all the planning and the food was amazing. Came here to have a beer and a bite to eat. Got my beer on time, but I was completely ignored by the bartenders. Took almost 45 minutes of sitting. Then one of the bartenders takes my menu away without asking if I was ready to order. Finally after another 10 minutes one asked if I was ready to order. I know they are busy this time of day. Sat at the bar and it was not a warm welcome. All the reviews state that Nicole was a great server. I have to disagree. None of the servers smiled the whole 2 hours we were there. It was like they were purposely avoiding us. The "regulars" seemed to have their attention. We even tipped ahead of service sine we were taking up one spot and playing golden tee. We went yesterday, Sunday, to watch the Texans game. We sat at the bar and had trouble getting served. The two female bartenders were talking to each other and other employees and not taking care of business. We had to wave our arms for service or someone to take our orders. The bar wasn't too busy (lots of open stools and tables). We ordered appetizers that came out cold from the kitchen. I'm not a big fan of cold waffle fries. We frequent this establishment often. The drinks are fair priced probably the least expensive out of all the nearby waterholes we've ever been to. The bartenders are solid and are familiar with all their regulars, and often times they're crushing it working the bar and serving patrons by themselves until a shift change. They try to keep it consistent with their speediness and engaging with the folks that come through there. The venue itself is pretty big inside and they have a good sized patio for corn hole and smoking out back. I've noticed you can also vape inside the establishment as I've heard people ask that a lot when we go out and a lot of places don't allow it, but this place doesn't seem to mind at all. The food we've tried have all been 8/10. The tater tots are crispy, filling and pair well with their house made gravy (almost had the taste of the gravy you'd use on biscuits which happened to be my fave there) the chicken tenders are good sized and crispy and juicy, the wings are much bigger in comparison to wings you'd get at pluckers or Buffalo Wild Wings and the burgers smell and taste great. I've seen a lot of people there definitely score the burgers and their boudin link with bbq sauce. The boudin was another fave of mine! We'll definitely keep coming back because the atmosphere is great, the bartenders are friendly and welcoming, and they have better bar food than any other place close to our home in that area. 11/10 would recommend! They provide daily specials and deals every day that their open up 11-8pm on their drinks and we've been a handful of times I don't ever believe our tab went over $100 for the amount we drank and ate for 6 people. I can go to Li'l Woodrow's or district 249 further up and 4-5 drinks in our tab would reach dang near $40-$50 whereas when we order what's on tap at Scary we wouldn't have even touched that price yet. My family picked up lunch here today. I would score it a 9/10. I had the Smashburger and it was good. We also had the fried shrimp. They looked but I did not ry any of those l. My wife had the chicken bacon ranch wrap but got full before trying it. So that will be our dinner. The boudin egg rolls are fire finally the best thing and what recommend most are the lemon pepper wings. I will go back to try more stuff but that's it for now. Went with a few coworkers after work and service was a little slow but we aren't the type to complain. Once the tab was paid we were asked to leave and never return cause apparently people were complaining that we were rude and vulgar to the servers. Blatant lie, to the point where our server invited us to return given that it was a misunderstanding. They assured the one black guy in our group that he did nothing wrong but if you ask me I'd say the people that were "complaining" were racist given that we were the only non white folk there. Big improvement over the former establishment. Wife and kid and myself stopped in today. Had wings (lemon pepper spicy garlic and white BBQ) to get warmed up. Both flavors were awesome. Wings cooked perfectly; crispy without being greasy. Their cheese steak hoagie was ridiculously good. Added grilled jalapeño's and is the best cheesesteak I've had in Texas. I stopped by the Scary Canary Cypress after work yesterday. It was my first visit and I was impressed with the food, service, and atmosphere. Howdy Y'all!! The Scary Canary is a solid bet for a good burger served in a timely fashion in a nice sports bar atmosphere. The brunette Anna is a professional bartender as is the blonde female (I forget her name) and Paul the male bartender. According to my wife they could use an improved wine selection. Read, it's hot in Texas so have a quality selection ice kold Pinot Grigio, Rosé, & Champagne. And a quality Cab Sav. Beer selection is adequate. They have a standard rum of Bacardi silver but Flor de Caña silver would be preferred. Luksosowa Polish potato vodka would be a welcome alternative to Tito's and Absolut. While the establishment is laid out as kinda half restaurant (kids are welcome until 7pm) and the other half is the bar area. They have multiple tv screens to view games and a good size patio to enjoy during the 3 weeks of nice weather that we get in Cypress. Have a good day. TYJD read more
