SO DELICIOUS!! Went back multiple times it was so good. The amarino cherry was the best one out of our entire trip. It paired great with coconut. My husband loved the dark chocolate.
This is the best gelato I've ever had and now every time I get gelato... I lament that it's not like the gelato I had on our last night in Rome at the end of the heat wave. Come here, walk around and get a little lost, and come back o here again on your way home. It's worth it
Every time I come to Italy, it's a personal mission to find and devour gelato daily--because vacation calories? Yeah, they don't count! This spot didn't disappoint--the gelato was absolutely gorgeous and tasted just as amazing. Heads up: they only let us pick one flavor to taste test lol so choose wisely, but honestly, it was worth it. Open late, delicious, and just what we needed to end the night right!
My absolute favorite gelato in Rome! Stays open late, perfect to stop by after dinner and walk the beautiful streets of city before going home. Service was great. Line moves pretty fast so don't feel to discouraged if you have to wait a bit.
We stopped by Frigidarium while in Italy, and it was easily one of the best gelato spots we've tried. The texture was perfectly creamy but still light, and the flavors were so fresh and vibrant. I'm usually all about fruit flavors, and the strawberry was a standout--sweet, tangy, and tasted just like biting into the real thing. Unlike some gelato places that just feel like overly sweet ice cream, this actually had that authentic, high-quality taste. You can tell they use real ingredients, not artificial syrups. Didn't try the chocolate dip that everyone talks about, but honestly, the fruit flavors alone were more than enough to make this a new favorite. If you're in Rome and love fresh, real gelato, this spot is a must!
The Frigidarium ice cream is probably one of the most popular gelato stores in the area. The line is usually long although moving fast, and you have to pick up your flavors very fast as every one working here is rushing you, then pick the choice of either chocolate coat or wiped cream as toppings. I've tried their flavors of Frigidarium (very sweet), Stracciatella (creamy), Tiramisu (balanced rum taste), Pistachio Cheesecake (a must try here), and Cioccoarancia (dense texture and orange taste). Overall good quality but not worth the hassle if waiting line is really long.
Overrated tourist trap... The gelato is really sweet, maybe a bit too much. I tried the bacio here, and still prefer the one from Gelateria Cremilla. You can choose to get the ice cream dipped in white or black chocolate.
There is a reason why people waiting in line to buy gelato here and not across the street or other places on the same street. It's very good and original taste without any artificial add ons .
The mango gelato taste just like fresh mango! The lemon gelato is too sour. The chocolate fudge is so thick and rich. The line was long when i was there. Service is good. They gave you sample to try before we decided. It is a cute 'come and go' ice cream shop, no chair and table.
Good value gelato, but more on the sweet side. I thought it was overhyped. There is always such a long line, we came around 8pm and waited 15 min to get to the front. For 5€ for two gelatos with 2 flavors each, this is good value. Because of the long line, I was hesitant to sample any flavors but they did offer that. We tried the pistachio and hazelnut gelato. The pistachio was good and creamy, the hazelnut was too sweet for my taste. I also got them dipped in chocolate in a waffle cone, which topped the dessert off nicely but made it messy to eat.
Have to try their famous flavor Frigidarium which I've not seen else where! There was a line but they moved fast.
This place is as good as it gets. The lines can be super long but we lucked out coming here on a Thursday night. You have the option of cones or cups, both in 3 sizes. The chocolate coating, whether white or dark, is included. We tried four flavors: Frigidarium Pistachio Crema Florentina Coffee All four was very tasty. I must also add that this doesn't have the weird aftertaste that is common in some other gelato places. read more
I had the 3 scoops with chocolate dipped waffle cone. I cannot recall the flavors as the names were complicated but I enjoyed the cone very much. I liked this much more than Giolotti and Venchi but not as much as Suso in Venice. Nonetheless, I am definitely coming back before my trip is over. read more
Oh my god, THE most worth it gelato place in Rome. They do not play around here. It is €3 for THREE flavours, and you can choose to get your cone dipped in a white or dark chocolate shell for free. I mean, if that doesn't sell you, what will? The chocolate flavours here are so rich and decadent. The shop itself is in a super cute alley and always filled with people (mostly tourists) looking for that gelato fix. My only piece of constructive criticism would be that their napkins were extremely thin and waxy, not very absorbent or paper-like, which makes wiping the melted sticky ice cream off your hands pretty hard. But, who's complaining when the gelato is that good? read more

Pretty, pretty, pretty good gelato. It gets its fifth star to top it off because they put a cookie on top of their gelato. Any place that does that gets the fifth star idc. It makes it at least 3 times more 'gram worthy. It's just science. Honestly thought this place was better than the vastly hyped Giolitti. This place is hyped too but this is like he can be be a pretty decent ball player hype not like the second coming of MJ hype. Scoops also seemed more generous here than Giolitti. But who am I kidding, you are hard pressed to go wrong with the gelato in Italy. Still, Frigidarium is one you should try. read more

Tried this place twice now so I can finally give a fair verdict. This was the first gelato I tried in Rome so I was in awe and amazement at the gelato shops in Rome. It was such a fast experience, I didn't get to take it all in and I was lost, I must admit. I got their house signature flavor, Frigidarium. It's the yellow one with brown swirls throughout, and tastes like very sweet cake batter. It's definitely one of the heavier flavors. I also got it dipped in chocolate because why not, it's a free add on they offer here, unlike most other places that just have whipped cream as an add on (which is still amazing, in my opinion). You could get it dipped in white or regular chocolate and I opted for the regular on the first time. I got halfway through my small sized cone before it started melting everywhere and it got super sickeningly sweet. I couldn't finish it and had to throw it away. I decided to give it another try over a month later because I was in the area. First of all, the person who helped me had a major attitude. I asked her to try the pistachio flavor, and I thought it was very mild so I tried to ask for another sample of another flavor and she said no. So I got the pistachio anyway because none of the other flavors appealed to me and I also got frigidarium again because I hoped one super sweet would balance out the super mild pistachio flavor. This time, I got it dipped in white chocolate. Not as bad as the first time, but I definitely wouldn't come here again when there are so many other better gelato places in Rome. I think this place is definitely over hyped and reviewed just because it's in a good touristy location where there's a lot of traffic from people. read more

Order of preference: Crema fiorentina, pistachio, frigidarium The guy actually suggested crema fiorentina because I didn't know what to pick as my 3rd flavor. Surprisingly, the frigidarium flavor was a bit too strong for us, and I love anything sweet/chocolatey. For the sorbets: Lemon then mango. Both were very flavorful, sweet, and tart. Refreshing. 3€ each. Credit card accepted. Few benches outside. read more

One of the many great gelato spots in Rome! My family and I had gotten dinner nearby when we discovered this popular spot. I opted for the Frigidarium and Limone flavors, dipped in chocolate. Frigidarium was very sweet and rich, I'm glad I chose something tart to accompany it and would recommend doing the same. I liked the gelato, but wasn't a fan of the dipping in chocolate; once the shell dried hard, the gelato became quite messy and difficult to eat. Other yelpers have mentioned the service and in hindsight I did think it was a bit rushed and blunt, but I can understand the need for efficiency because they were extremely busy when we went. Overall not a must hit spot, but great gelato for a good price and worth a go! read more
My favorite gelateria in Rome! If you're into speculoos cookies, try their signature flavor out, which is consequently also called Frigidarium. They'll top your gelato off with a biscuit and coat the whole thing with your choice of either milk or dark chocolate. Super legit. read more
Soooo good! Gelato was creamy and just tasteful. I got the 2 euros come which come with 2 scoops, you can choose 2 diff flavors. I got the coconut and Frigidarium flavor ( I couldn't make out what's in this but it was great!) Small spot with just 2 small bench to sit outside. read more

Delicious gelato for a very reasonable price! We stopped by while walking back to our hotel from the Vatican. Luckily there was no line when we got there but as soon as we finished our order a huge line formed behind us. There were soo many flavors to choose from. I ended up getting tiramisu and frigidarium (which my friend had recommended). Both were delicious! Definitely recommend stopping by for your daily gelato fix! read more
Wow I still miss this gelato! It's the best value I've gotten out of Rome; for €2 you can get two scoops on a cone with the option to get your scoop dipped in chocolate! I got the Malaga (rum raisin) and Frigidarium flavor (that comes with a cookie on top). Holy cow the Malaga is really good. It's like the tart flavor of a sultana was muted and made creamier and richer with a vanilla essence. I'm not entirely sure what was in the Frigidarium, but it tasted like a mix of ginger bread and caramel with some hard, crunchy bits of light...sugar bites (?) inside. So so good. The cookie was a cute touch. The most memorable gelato I've had for sure. read more

We ate gelato LITERALLY every night of our trip to Italy, and this was one of my favorite places. Having the mindset of "go big or go home" (and definitely not wanting to go home), I opted for 3 scoops, in a cone, chocolate dipped. With a wafer cookie on top! Flavors I chose: - Frigidarium: I'm not sure exactly what this flavor was (maybe caramel?), but it was fantastic! Also had little crunchy cookie bits mixed throughout. - Raspberry: When getting two rich flavors, I always try to level it out with a nice, refreshing fruity flavor. In hindsight, I should have asked for a cup with my chocolate dipped gelato. The chocolate coating acts like an umbrella and when the gelato starts melting it drips E V E R Y W H E R E! But it's okay because this was some damn good gelato. Would definitely return if I found myself in Rome again. Hopefully I find myself in Rome again! Because this gelato was that good. read more
My absolute favorite gelato I had during my week in Italy... The Frigidarium flavor is SO yummy... This place is just as cheap as all the other gelato places in the city and they offer a complimentary chocolate or white chocolate coating. I regret not coming here more than once, but hey, I threw my coins in the Trevi Fountain so I'll be back in Rome to get some more scoops at some point!! ;) In the mean time, get your butt in line!! You won't regret it. read more

During my 3 days in Rome, I had gelato from 6 places that were well-rated on Yelp. The other places I tried were Wonderful Ice Cream, Palazzo del Freddo Giovanni Fassi, Fatamorgana, Giolitte, and Come Il Latte. I would have to say that Frigidarium tops my list for best gelato out of the 6 that I tried in Rome. Frigidarium wins for both amazing taste and price for what you get. I got a large cup with four flavors -- all delicious -- with their heavy cream on top. This place will always hold a place in my heart and will be my go-to if I am ever in Rome again. This is definitely not a place to skip over if you are ever in Rome. read more

Those who know me, already know that I am not a sweets person. Not because I want to be healthy but because the is only so much sugar my palate can handle. This gelato place outdid itself. My friends each got different flavors and all were satisfied. You will be told by those who live in the area that this is a great place to try some gelato. read more

There are a million gelato places in Rome. Every street corner. So what makes people line up and wait 20 minutes to be served a couple scoops here? Is the hype really all that? Why should you get in line? Why did I? Well, a Yelp friend of mine said it was the best gelato ever. And she is a connoisseur. I've had gelato all over Italy as well and have some some memorable experiences. But Frigidarium? Yep. Best ever. BEST. Even their sign proclaims them as "masters of gelato in Rome". I have to agree. Hard to explain why until you taste it. I've seen more ambitious flavors, more creativity, more combinations, and bigger selections elsewhere. But I've never had the flavor, creamy mouth feel, intensity, and pure delight that Frigidarium brings. So don't believe me. Go ahead and think those people waiting in a long line are crazy. But you'd be missing out. It's so worth it. read more

This place has a line for a reason and that reason is EXTRA CREAMY GELATO! Of all the spots we tried, I think this had the best consistency, but I will say they are a bit pushy about getting multiple scoops and adding whipped cream. I panicked and got the peanut butter flavor but I wish I had gotten the pistachio. read more

A M A Z I N G. G E L A T O. I came here on the recommendation from a friend and I cannot highly recommend this place enough. It's absolutely delicious. We had just beat the rush of people that came shortly after us. The staff was extremely friendly and helped us select gelato flavors. The tiramisu, pistachio, and Irish cream with whipped cream on top (you have the option to have them dip it in chocolate as well). Easily one of the best gelato I've had during this trip in Italy! If you can stop by, definitely do!! read more

This is a must-visit for gelato in Rome! For only 2 euro, you can get a delicious cone or cup either dipped in dark or white chocolate sauce, or covered in homemade whipped cream. I can't get enough of the Frigidarium flavor (it tastes a little like cake batter - it's supposedly caramel, chocolate, and biscuits). I come here all the time and I never feel any regrets because it's so delicious and so cheap! read more

Mmmm gelato...mmmm gelato topped with a chocolate shell. You can't go wrong with gelato in Italy and this place lived up to the hype. I went with their very own frigidarium flavor topped with chocolate. The medium sized cup was overflowing and absolutely delicious. read more

When in Rome, indulge. How I often dream of Frigidarium: this is my favorite gelatria in Rome but be prepared to queue especially during the hot summer months. When in Italy, my go to gelato flavor is pistachio but I kept going back for more of the orange dark chocolate and pistachio gelato. This combination was amazing. Their eponymous specialty flavor called "Frigidarium" is good and comes with a round chocolate cookie with frosted little stars. You can either have your gelato dipped in white or milk chocolate but I always declined. Just come, you won't be disappointed. read more

If you're ever in the area to shop or have pizza next door, stop by Frigidarium for some gelato. Frigidarium was my last gelato stop in Rome and I can hands down say it was my favorite! The difference is that Frigidarium is much creamier than say, San Crispino. When I eat gelato or ice cream, I want it to be creamy and fat tasting. It's really satisying, I won't lie. Gelato for me is indulgent and Frigidarium delivers. So many good flavors to choose from. I tried the banana. It was wonderful and fruity. The color was grey which was good because it shows that the gelato at Frigidarium is not laced with dyes. For my own cup, I got pistachio and black cherry. I would have never thought about getting black cherry as a flavor but my aunt who is a local said it was her favorite flavor of gelato, hands down. It is definitely one of my favorite flavors now too. The pistachio was sweet and refreshing. The black cherry had plenty of chunks of cherries in it. Technically it is Spagnola (Amorino Cherry?). This is definitely a local flavor! *** Se siete mai nella zona per fare acquisti o la pizza della porta accanto, fermatevi Frigidarium per qualche gelato. Frigidarium era la mia ultima sosta gelato a Roma e posso dire che a mani basse era il mio preferito! La differenza è che Frigidarium è molto cremoso che dire, San Crispino. Quando mangio crema gelato o ghiaccio, io voglio che sia degustazione cremoso e grasso. E 'davvero satisying, non voglio mentire. Gelato per me è indulgente e Frigidarium offre. Tanti buoni sapori tra cui scegliere. Ho provato la banana. E 'stato bellissimo e fruttato.
