    Tiramisu

Tiramisu. Tasted amazing. The cream is very fluffy and light with a nice crunch from the chocolate in top. Maybe the only downside is it was a little on the small side.

Coffee for both take away and here. Strong but good.

The tiramisu here is delicious with the perfect ratio of cream, lady fingers, and covered with chocolate shavings. They had at least 4 flavors including pistachio. Good serving size for only 5 euros. The have a few tables outside for sitting. Gelato favors are pretty basic but they did have Dubai Pistacchio flavor. I wanted to try it but the tiramisu won. Tasty and strong coffee. Stop by this local gem.

Pompi has been around for decades with good reason - they serve awesome gelato! The strawberry and the stracciatella gelato are standouts that real pack a huge flavor punch. Prices are more than reasonable at 3 euros for a couple of scoops. Just know you won't get a waffle cone wedge with your gelato when you order it in a cup. I've heard the pastries are excellent but I haven't tried them yet. There was no line when I visited in a weekday night.

Visited Pompi located near my hotel in La Fontana Di Trevi several times. My sister had visited Rome before and took me there. OMG! The best tiramisu I tasted. Tried all Of them. The place was crowded and the line was long. But was super fast. The first time was raining and no place to seat. Second time was much easier and we seated there and enjoyed our desserts.

Tiramisu is a must try if you stop by Pompi. We also tried the Mont Blanc, a dessert made of chestnut! Looks like ice cream spaghetti and it wasn't my favorite, but glad I got to find and try it here.

The place is super cute, trendy, and very well-kept, but their desserts fall short and so does their customer service. I asked to try a gelato, and the girl at the desk reluctantly let me taste one but made sure to tell me it would be the only one I could try. Was she thinking I was going to try every single one? I was immediately turned off, but I wanted a gelato so I was like whatever. The gelato itself was okay, nothing amazing, but decent. We also tried a strawberry cheesecake that SUCKED; it had an overpowering cheap strawberry jelly taste. Their espresso was okay too, but you can tell it wasn't great because when you put the sugar on the top of the foam, it's plops right to the bottom (the trick to a good espresso is that when you lay the sugar over the foam, it doesn't sink). I wouldn't ever come back to this place. If the customer service was better I would have given them another star, but it wasn't. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else we're both the food and customer service are good.

Absolutely love love their tiramisu, not too sweet and have rich textures. Must try when you are in Rome. We will come back.

My husband & I had been in Rome 4 days already when we decided to try Pompi for their Tiramisu. I had the hazelnut, he had traditional. We were told they had the best Tiramisu, but we weren't a fan of it. It comes in a box, which we felt like it was massed produced. The hazelnut one didn't have much flavor for me. He said his was okay, but not the best he had in Italy. We eat dessert at every meal! It very much meant for tourists.

Expecting it to be there one year, I walked over to Piazza Navona and Gelateria Navona had evidently closed. I would then get gelato here and there. I then learned that Giolitti is a long standing gelateria and it's also in the historic center. I filed the name away in my head. Then, one day, I happened to walk right in front of it without even looking for it, so I went in. Giolitti is popular and it can be crowded. I'm going to say that I waited about 10 to 15 minutes. You pay at a counter first, deciding on what you want and how much of it, such as scoops and whether it will be in a cup or a cone. Once up at the counter, they don't rush you, which surprised me. I don't take that much time since I don't experiment much, but I still appreciate the courtesy. The price is roughly what everyone else in the historic center is charging. I always opt for the gelato it in a cup so you can "control" the dripping. The gelato - a mix of dark chocolate and two citrus flavors - was "molto buono." That said, just because it's so popular, I'm not going to downgrade Giolitti for it and complain about the crowds. You downgrade gourmet donut places in the U.S. where their fame has gone to their heads. There is also a spacious salon with nicer decor in which you can eat inside. At this point, Giolitti is really the only gelateria in Rome whose name I remember. I would gladly go back and I recommend it.

Tucked along the lively streets of Trastevere, this little spot delivers gelato with genuine craftsmanship and flavors that taste as authentic as the city around you. The first thing you notice is the freshness. Each flavor looks vibrant--not overly piled or artificially glossy--and you can tell everything is made with real ingredients. One spoonful confirms it: the gelato is creamy, smooth, and beautifully balanced. The fruit flavors burst with natural sweetness, especially the mango and strawberry, while the classics like pistachio, hazelnut, and chocolate showcase that rich, deep, true-to-ingredient taste that only well-made gelato can achieve. Their specialty flavors are equally impressive--unique without feeling gimmicky--and everything is served at the perfect temperature so the texture stays silky, not icy. Portions are generous, prices are fair, and the cones have that fresh baked aroma that adds an extra layer of enjoyment. The staff is warm and welcoming, happy to offer suggestions, and patient even when you're debating between ten flavors that all look incredible. The atmosphere reflects Trastevere itself--relaxed, friendly, and full of character. Whether you're ending a meal, cooling off on a sunny Roman afternoon, or simply exploring one of the city's most spirited neighborhoods, GELATERIA alla SCALA is a sweet stop worth seeking out. A delicious reminder that some of Rome's best moments come in a cup--or a cone.

If you don't know what real gelato should look like check my photos. First it shouldn't be piled high into mountains. Secondly the colors should be natural. The banana and pistachio gelato in my photos are perfect representations. On to the tasting! My tour included one cone and I got two scoops of pistachio and licorice. We said our goodbyes to the tour and the gelato was so good I wanted more. We ended up getting an affogato and a few more scoops in a bowl the second time. This was very close to where Julius Caesar was assassinated so we walked over and checked it out. When done I couldn't resist and had to go back a third time as I really wanted to try the orange gelato. The owner laughed as he couldn't believe we were back again. The orange was so good! There was bits of orange skin and it tasted really fresh. When I'm back in Rome I will visit my new friend here at the Gelateria!
