I walked 20 mins from my hotel to this gelato heaven. When I had my first bite, I could literally see angels. This was the best tiramisu gelato ever. Would absolutely love to return to try other flavors.

Great spot for gelato! Plenty of flavors to choose.. from classic flavors to more unique flavors.

Delicious gelato with some unusual flavors, but not being able to taste them made me stick with known flavors. I had passion fruit and melon and both were very good, but I've had a more intense melon gelato before and this one didn't measure up. Serving was a bit smaller, too, but for 3 euros I won't complain!

My partner and I visited a few different Fatamorgana locations during our time in Rome because they had a huge range of non-dairy, no-egg options for gelato and sorbet to choose from. Each location offered a slightly different variety of flavors but every single flavor we tried was fantastic and super unique. The staff was friendly at each location, patiently waiting for us to make our decision for which flavors we wanted to try. Each flavor is also labeled clearly with what ingredients it contains as well as an Italian and English description. 12/10 would recommend to everyone I know.

Unique, seasonal flavors and some old favorites.

We lived in Rome for 3 months and did a lot of gelato tasting, and this ended up being one of our favorites. Locally-sourced, organic, seasonal flavors made daily. My favorite was cilegia and birra (cherries and beer). Located on an amazing small piazza in the heart of Rione Monte, one of the most interesting districts with great local businesses. Short striking distance, but mentally a world away, from the craziness and heat at the Coliseum and the Forum. Small fountain in the piazza is great for fresh, cold water, and even some splashing for small children. A great stop on your late afternoon/early evening passeggiata or after dinner stroll through Rome. It is custom to ask to taste flavors before ordering: Posso assaggiare = can I have a taste. Con panna=with cream. Due gusti=two flavors, Coppa=cup, Cono=cone. Don't forget grazie=thank you. Learning Italian fruit flavors is a great way to teach kids a little Italian. Tip: If visiting in summer, walk up to and over the Campidoglio at night after having your gelato. Late evening summer events are sometimes programmed in this space and it is amazing! We stumbled across the Italian national fencing team performing in the Campidoglio on live national TV after getting gelato at midnight during the week.

Now with a location in Los Angeles, Gelateria Fatamorgana first expanded inside Rome itself, and although both scoops and storefront in Monti are small the Gelateria that hashtagged #naturallygood has become a destination for both freshness as well as purity. The brainchild of Chef Maria Agnese, her dedication to the art of flavors dating to a childhood in the kitchen with mom, it is inside the shop at Piazza degli Zingari 5 that guests will find ideas built on "No Tricks, Just Nature," novelties like Almond Flower set adjacent standards such as Stracciatella for €1.50 a scoop. "Motivated by curiosity," and seasonally focused on the globe's bounty, it is after perusing some 36 flavors that guests are encouraged to choose, Lactose-free Amarena Cherry vibrant atop Sicilian Pistachio without any added sweetness while Stracciatella and Dark Chocolate "Estasi" both focused on textural contrast, the latter by way of bitter Coffee Beans and toasted Hazelnuts.

I was not impressed w the vegan options, it was my first gelato place in Rome and yes the dietary needs are clearly stated but there are limited options for vegans. I ordered the chocolate and the pumpkin flavor, both tasted watered down with not much intense flavor to them. There was no line but I visited the establishment at 830pm.

I really loved the stracciatella gelato. It was very creamy and refreshing after a day of walking! I got two flavors for 2,50 euros. stracciatella and caffe

The service was great and we were able to sit right away even though it was seemingly busy on the outside. We all ordered pizza, and I had had one with mortadella and pesto. The taste was excellent but I do wish it was crispier. It was thin like Roman pizza should be but it was very soft. Overall we enjoyed our meal. Note-they do take card but they requested that we pay by cash.

However, if you are GF, this place is exceptional. They take every precaution, including have a separate preparation area. The have many GF dishes and even GF beers available, and everything we tried was really good. The staff immediately ask about allergies when seating you and they are so professional and friendly - the remembered us and our drink order after literally just one visit which is a true feat given how many people they must see. You would be excused for thinking this is just a tourist trap being right next to the Trevi fountain, and perhaps in some ways it may be. But the food is still so good and for a GF traveler I cannot recommend enough, at least trying it once.
