I was utterly delighted to find this gorgeous bakery in central Rome with a dedicated gluten free menu! I visited twice in one week and sampled the prosciutto & mozzarella sandwich, the hummus & vegetable sandwich, a plain roll, and a special vegetable frittata. Most of these reviews are old so I felt the need to update fellow Yelpers on this completely GF cafe in Rome. One word - Amazing. Most restaurants do have a pasta they will cook for you that is GF, but here you can eat everything. Try the fluffy chickpea-based focaccia. The option to do multiple salads on a plate was also a nice change from the typical carb and fat heavy meals you'll find everywhere else. Pandalí was a cute little shop! I stopped by briefly on my trip to Rome. The decor has a nice earthy feel to it, fitting with their brand. I wasn't 100% sure what all was gluten free and what - if anything - wasn't. There weren't signs indicating everything was gluten free and the woman running the shop was busy with another costumer so I wasn't able to ask right away. I didn't want to spend too much time inside, so I noticed a bag of gluten and dairy free cookies for about 3€ and just bought those. Better safe than sorry sort of move! :) When I ended up eating them, they reminded me of vanilla wafers, just with a different texture and slightly different flavor. They were good, though! I enjoyed them with some tea and they make excellent tea biscuits. ;) They didn't seem to have as large of a selection as other gluten free bakeries I'd been to in Italy, but the fact that they exist at all gives them my support! Gluten free baked goods -- especially ones that taste good -- can be hard to come by. I'd go back to Pandalí when in Rome and see what gluten and dairy free goodies I can find. read more

We went there around breakfast time. Ordered a bunch of different pastries & other items to try them out. I'm gluten free, & had been craving pastries, after walking around Italy for a week passing all the shops with wonderful smells wafting out. I stumbled into Pandali after seeing a tiny sign in the window that read, "senza glutine" so naturally we stopped everything we were doing and bought a huge bag of sweets. Their sweet pastries, cookies and breads are just divine! Out of the popular gluten free spots in Rome (which I feel like really, in general, are not the 5 stars that people are making them out to be), this place was one of the better ones. We went early in the day, planning to get a couple of breakfast pastries and take-away sandwiches or little pizzas or something to keep in the backpack for lunch later. We walked in and were greeted by a woman who was not thrilled with our presence at first; she softened some after I spoke Italian to her. We got a few cookies, creme pastries, Italian donuts, and 'suppli' (which are basically arancini) for later in the day. Everything was excellent. Really well baked, with delicious flavors. The suppli, in particular, even after sitting around in a bag in my husband's backpack for half the day, were something SPECIAL. Wow. We wanted to go back the next day, but missed their hours. They only have waters and bottled drinks -- no coffee machine, and the place is definitely no-frills. read more

This completely Gluten Free ("senza glutine" in Italian) bakery is worth considering. You can tell there is much love that goes into the food prepared here. Everyone that helped us was very attentive and willing to speak to us in English (I wish I knew more Italian!). Daughter has celiac ("celiachia" in Italian) so we brought her here for doughnuts we've seen in other reviews, but alas, none today. That's ok because the Cherry pastry was a decent substitute. We also sampled the pasta salad, which was ok, where delicious olives dominated the flavor. I have to say that overall, the taste of the items we had was 3-4, but the attention and care the ladies provided was 5+++. I'm just so happy Pandalí and other GF bakeries exist. We did find many cafe's (trattorias) that had GF options that served better pasta. Bottom line - if you need to stock up on GF baked goods, this is a place to consider. read more

Interesting little bakery that has gluten free goodies. Went around 6:30pm so their selection was a bit limited. I asked the lady at the counter whether all the gluten-free items were sold out. There was a bit of communication difficulty and I thought she had said yes, they were all. We almost left when I thought to go back and ask what time would be best to come to get gluten-free baked goods, when she motioned at the things in the cabinet, "all senza glutine". I then understood that this was a true gluten-free bakery and proceeded to get a few things. I got a brownie and a small fruit biscuit and it came to the equivalent of over $8.50 Canadian dollars. I did not realize this bakery was completely gluten-free, but I saw a sign for gluten-free pastries and thought, "when there's one, there's often the other..." (the other being "vegan"). I communicated to the woman behind the counter that I was vegan and she pointed me to two pastries, one a flat round cookie without a center, and I think a biscotti of some kind, filled with dried fruit and nuts. They were also labeled "vegani," and were on the far left side of the pastry case, so look for that if you visit. I took one of each, paid a few euro, and sampled my goodies. They both tasted healthy, but if they were also gluten-free, that probably explains their earthiness. They at least seemed to have enough sugar in them, so that's good. I liked them, and as the only Italian cookies I had my entire trip, I'm so happy I had the opportunity to indulge! They were great snacks for the train ride to Cinque Terre. read more

Being gluten intolerant, I am very picky about what I eat. I don't eat just anything because of the calories but good flavor and texture is most important. This bakery was just OK, I found that their bread was very good and their carrot cake was very good, but the other pastries really lacked flavor and were very dry and grainy. read more

Amazing bakery that is all gluten free. We found this on the first day on our trip to Rome and went every day after that. The calzones are particularly good as are the donuts. If you are GF and in Rome do not miss it. The prices are also fine and the owners and staff are very helpful. read more

This place has a huge number of pluses and basically no drawbacks. Exceptionally friendly staff, popular with locals (we were the only non-Italians there), and uses only stone-ground flours from their own mill. You can buy whole loaves of chickpea (ceci), millet (miglio), or buckwheat (farina saracena) flour bread, but if you just want a snack or lunch, they got you covered. Do not miss the sformatto (a sort of mozzarella mashed potato casserole with broccoli and topped with gf bread crumbs), nor the squash-blossom pizza! read more

This bakery is great! Right near the pantheon with a huge array of gluten free baked goods. I got several things, but my favorite (so far) was their raspberry linzer tart. Definitely will return! read more
