So we came here one afternoon after having lunch out , we were really looking forward to taking our daughter to Friendly's for the first time and getting her the clown cone ( almost like a right of passage lol ) . So we went in were sat down fairly quick and there were a few other families and children there as well so it was nice . We were looking at the menus ( so sticky and gross... ) and she ordered the clown cone thing and my husband and I split a peanut butter cup sundae. We were waiting a bit and all the while we're waiting the staff were having loud conversations and one guy in particular was insanely loud and talking about how Prince had overdosed etc etc ... like it just went on and on then he and his other Co workers were playing around and they had hidden his phone from him so they had him running to his car etc ... not cool as we were now waiting for the check ... and waiting I think there is a time and place for these kind of discussions and antics and while you're working in a family oriented establishment it isn't the time . The oddest part is I noticed two people that looked to be like management or upper staff and they said nothing to the others about the horsing around or the topics of discussion that could clearly be heard by the guests . Having to explain to my 4 year old what an overdose is and why someone died was not on my agenda for the day . This unfortunately will be a first and last for us at Friendly's. The only reason for 3 stars is because the ice cream was decent . Although they stuck a questionable looking candy onto my daughter's ice cream ... rather careless, it looked like it had been wet and stuck to other ones for goodness knows how long . read more

I ordered two milk shakes one cookies&cream and mint with oreo cookies. The cookies n cream was good. It was rich, flavorful, and thick. The mint I couldn't really taste the mint. There was a lot of mint chips in there. I kept thinking that I had the wrong drink. They didn't taste like Mint. Also to add the service wasn't the best, I'm coming from out of town and making it seem I should just know what I want. No recommendations, best on the menu etc. read more

Went there for breakfast on a Monday and it was not crowded at all. Waitress was the sweetest lady. For 6 adults the bill came out to be $25 (50% breakfast Monday-Friday). The food came out very fast and tasted good. Will definitely be going back soon. read more

Just came to this location. Made my order. 25 minutes later I hear my order called. Horray!!!! Grab the bag from the window to instantly have it stick to my shirt. What do I find? The entire edge of the bag covered in chocolate sauce. Why was the bag covered in chocolate? Because the entire ice cream counter was not even remotely clean. Looked like a bomb went off. Which is now on my shirt. I show the manager the bag and my shirt. She puts my ice cream in a new bag and says sorry. Doesn't acknowledge the mess on my shirt nor does she even offer me a napkin. This is my first time back in 2 years at the request of my kids. I'm glad to say the food was better this time - on par with what you would expect. The service however continues to be lousy. I was hoping that in 2 years they would have figured out how to get people in and out in under 2 hours. They clearly don't train their servers well. Those who have been there a while are great. Those who are newer have no idea what they're doing. 3 of us went for lunch. After an hour, our appetizers finally showed up. (We got an apology but nothing additional). We had to ask for appetizer plates and silverware (we got 2 for the 3 of us). We didn't get check ins for drink refills and when we ordered ice cream, we weren't offered menus. We had to go from memory (and then what we got was wrong). If Friendlys is serious about rebuilding the brand - close the restaurant for a day, teach everyone basic serving skills and future out how to run a more organized kitchen. On the plus side - nothing had to be returned this trip for containing bugs. read more

This Friendly's is decent, but not great. I had the BBQ chicken sandwich and a Reese's cup ice cream for dessert. The meal was pretty good, tasty and hot. The service is where they really let me down. The waitress was very slow in getting to us. This would be understandable if they were busy but the place was dead quiet at the time. If they can get some better wait-staff they could move up to a four-star. read more

Now I love me some friendly's primarily for the ice cream. The food is typical diner food, so it shouldn't be a surpise however the ice cream is sweet stuff in a milk like form that is to die for. The staff I wasn't super thrilled with and customer service to me is very important. So I think if the staff stepped up a little bit this would be an excellent Friendly's probably better then many of the other I have visited. read more

Worst service in this dirty restaurant tonight--handwritten sign at window counter asked people to come inside (to lazy to deal with window customers). Once inside, I waited 10 minutes--even moving one foot away from the hostess desk so I'd be noticed. Nothing. No one taking to go orders. 10 minutes before someone asked if I'd been helped. I ordered a large milkshake. I paid. Another ten minutes. A dozen people back there, nobody busy. How long does it take. The blender is within eyeshot. Finally. Milkshake. Wrong damn size. I took my 10 year old daughter to this Friendly's because she loves it. I walked in with my guard up, but I must admit, I was pleasantly surprised. The servers were prompt and pleasant and the cod, fish and chips were as good as any I've had in the states. Queen St Chip Shop in Dunoon, Scotland is my benchmark. My daughter got the chicken strips and rice pilaf and everything was very good. Ice cream for desert and you can't go wrong for the price. read more

POOR SERVICE - COLD FOOD!! Stopped in for breakfast this a.m. It was crowded, but that was OK. We waited a while to be acknowledged by the waitress. She took our order. We waited entirely tooo long for our food to come. When it did, the eggs were lukewarm. The french toast and pancakes were cold. When asked if we wanted more coffee, we said yes BUT it never came. They seem to have many "regulars," senior citizens who were acknowledged and served extremely promptly. Off to Friendly's with the grandsons for lunch. Have not been there since my kids were little. I usually had coupons and they ate for free or $1.99. Now the kids menu is about $6. They do get to choose a drink, a sandwich and a dessert. They even have healthy choices like milk, fruit or some vegetable as a side. These offerings are great but of course my boys opted for the waffle fries and a big tall Shirley Temple with lots of cherries floating around in the bottom. Don't worry they had straws and lots of time to make a mess getting them out. They had fun drinking it. That is the key word. Kids do have fun at Friendly's which is why I gave it three stars as our food was not the best The kids got pages and crayons and had fun coloring away even though I think they only had about 4-5 colors....but enough to do a great one of the American flag. The waitress even hung the pixs up for them A little hint be careful if this is your first time ordering with the kids. That big Shirley temple it turns out was pictured with the choices to drink but when I got the bill they were 69 cents more. Guess I should have brought the glasses for the fine print. Their grilled cheese was nothing to rave about...One of them was a little over cooked not quite in burn city but just outside in the burbs. But they only ate half anyway..(Doesn't grill cheese only have 3 ingredients?) My meal was terrible. I ordered the fish wrap off the summer menu by the ravings of our waitress. Bad mistake. I smelt fish....that fishy smell you know when you are by the water and cant identify where its coming from. Well I knew where it was coming from. I was done. I took the fish out and had a lettuce, cheese and tomato wrap. Commented to the waitress that I did not like the sandwich she recommended. The boys then got to pick a dessert from the list. Again they had a huge pix of a great giant chocolate sundae served with three containers of topping under it. Gotcha. They had to have it. 99 cents more each! I tasted part of what they could not eat and I can say I was not impressed with the taste of their ice cream. I remember it being much better....And So far our little lunch was over $25 dollars.... I have to say the waitresses were great. They put up with a lot from families and kids. They leave the tables piles high with messy napkins, leftovers, broken crayons and whatever the little darlings adventure into is left for them to clean up. I did not see many people leaving good tips either. Food was on the floor and I heard them say several times don't worry about it. So in conclusion my grandkids had a great time and lots of fun and I had some great facebook pixs. That's all that matters when we are together. I used to go to Friendly's about twice a month with my husband that was until I could not take it anymore.First let's just say I grew up having my birthday parties at Friendly's as a child and love their desserts.I do like their food as well and think their onion rings and waffle fries are tops. However it was the little things that irked me and then came the unforgivable...There is only one bathroom for each men and women and sometimes I had to leave without being able to use it because somebody was taking too long and the sink is always clogged and dirty. Then here is the loud talking coming from the kitchen.I actually heard an employee say that the fries were gross among other things.I could hear all the teen angst from them at times but shrugged it off to just blowing off a little steam.Not a big deal but because of this I do not like being seated at the tables nearest to the kitchen.By the way,the fries are not gross and employees should not be saying bad things about the place for customers to hear. A waitress one time sat the people in front of us at a nice quiet booth but sat us in the back next to a children's party,what?There were plenty of empty seats in the place so that made no sense.It's a place for children,yes but we could of been sat someplace else.We made the best out of a crappy spot.We did not want to be those snooty people that asked to be moved.But come on,don't sit the lone couples near a bunch of kids if there are plenty of empty seats. The last time we were there was what took the cake(or the milkshake to be precise)Our waitress was new and you could tell be the way things were screwed up(plus like I said earlier,we used to be regs so we did not recognize her at all).Can't remember her name but she was an older blonde haired woman.My husband and I both ordered shakes and our meals.She asked me if I wanted a water and I said no because the shake would be just fine for me.The waitress came back three times to tell us our milkshakes would be right out.There was a back up due to customers at the carryout window.After 15 minutes our food comes out first before the shakes which has never happened before.I then ask the waitress if I could have a water and she said in a snotty tone"I thought you didn't want a water".Well that was before I knew I would not have my shake to drink with my meal.After I was more then half way through with my meal our shakes came out.I took a few sips and it didn't taste that great.It tasted like someone poured some milk over ice cream and stirred it with a spoon for a couple of seconds.It was not blended well at all.So I did not finish it,it was just a pile of goop.We payed our bill and only tipped her 15% because of her attitude and bad service.Sure the kitchen may have screwed up the order of what milkshakes were supposed to be made but the waitress was just not friendly and did not seem to care.I did not want to wait another half hour for a milkshake to be made so didn't even bother on asking for a new one.And we swore it would be quit some time before we ever went back again.The service has always been fast and good,the food is good but the last visit really soured me. read more

This review is solely based on service as we decided our money would be better spent at another restaurant. I attempted to eat here tonight with my boyfriend and my mother. We walked in behind another group and waited to be seated. One of the workers whose name was Brittany smiled at the group ahead of us and said "3?" They let her know they were with the group that was seated already and they were just figuring out seating. I thought she would turn to us next, but instead the smile faded and she walked away and went behind the counter where the register is. Right away I looked at my mother and asked if she saw that. She said yes and I started looking for somewhere else in the area for us to eat. Before we could turn and leave another employee walked over to seat us. We got to the table and the table was gross with sticky stuff. We watched as Brittany went to the table in front of us and then the table behind us where a gentleman was seated after us and asked him what he wanted to drink. At this point my mother said let's go and I completely agreed with her. Before we left she turned to Brittany and let her know that we were leaving because she ignored us twice. She said our table was not her section (not sure how they do sections there or if that was true) and I told her she also tried to seat the people in front of us when we walked in and co.pletely ignored her. We didn't stay for her reaponse. In an area with so many other eating options this Friendly's should really put more effort into working on their horrible service and employees. read more

Today I was greeted at the window to take my order buy a young man. He then began to use his phone after me beginning to say my order. It was then followed by "can you repeat that". I then repeated it and payed. A young lady made the order and came to the window but it was way wrong. I then looked to my reciept and sure enough he had put the order in completely wrong. The young lady made another ice cream, gave it to another worker, and threw her hands in the air and walked away. The man gave it to me and I expressed how unhappy I was. I then whent back to the car to realize that it was wrong again but I was to tired to argue again. This is all because of lack of interest in their customers and the use of phones during their job. Very unhappy with the experience not to mention being there for thirty minutes just for ice cream. read more

Hi this is in regards to Beth White, the general manager of Friendly's Perry Hall, store number 7012. Yesterday on March 16th 2016, one of the employees wanted to take her break. She was refused a break, which you legally receive after 5 hours. The waitress was screamed at along with another boy waiter. The girl tried to finish her job, but was thrown off the clock and told to leave. Beth continued to scream and yell and say "No, its fine you need a break. We'll all just stay late so I can finish your job." This is extremely rude. All the girl needed to be told was a simple no. And later I learned the girl has never even taken a break since she started months ago! Then an altercation started between the boy server and Beth. He was being yelled at for knowing better then to have someone take their break an hour before close. This is no way to speak to any employee. These are your workers, but you treat them like this? I want something done about this. I'm not asking for anyone's job but this is unacceptable. Beth White needs a talking too. If nothing happens with this situation it will get worse. I will be forced to report this matter. Thank you. read more
