The service at this location is appalling. I had not been to Friendly's in years as their food quality had not been up to par the last few times I stopped in, but my sister was craving their chicken melt. We walked in and waited to be seated by the hostess, but there wasn't one and no one acknowledged or greeted us. There was another family waiting ahead of us even though there were plenty of tables open. The tables were very close together and quite claustrophobic. After about 5 minutes of having multiple employees look right at us and ignore us we finally walked out. Avoid all Friendly's locations actually. We went to another Friendly's right after and our experience at the West Springfield location on Riverdale was initially good and then turned into a complete nightmare. read more

It was OK. Just OK. The section next to us was pretty dirty, but I overheard another employee acknowledging it begrudgingly, which at least is something. The food was good! But the place is just meh. When we came in the waitress was at a table with friends sitting down so I hadn't even realized she was our waitress. But, like I said, food was good! Ah a perfect cure for homesickness. Kinda made me miss the terrific service you get back in Raleigh. But they did have a new cool item a " Reuben Supermelt ". Along with a broccoli / cheddar soup. Overall wasn't the best but not the worst I've had either. The clam chowder however? was much better than I remembered in fact it had the hint of real clams in it with the gritty after taste ( unlike most places focus on potatoes rather than the clams ). Otherwise, overall appearance it still looked the same you walk in and had mirrors all around on the side booths in the middle booths it had a glass window divider and an ice-cream shop to the right when you first enter for take-out orders. Wasn't the best restaurant I went to but it does make you feel like home. Decent food, creative ice-cream varieties, and stereo-typical prices for a chain restaurant. A shout out to the skeleton staff at the Northampton St Friendly's during the storm on Sunday, Oct 30. Holyoke was just about the only town in the area with power, and the flood of people coming into town in search of food, gas, etc. made for a potentially overwhelming situation for the Holyoke Friendly's. They were operating with a skeleton crew, as most businesses were, and they did the right thing by shutting the doors when they had more people than they could handle. We were lucky enough to get in and we were served good food promptly! Our lone waitress, with some emergency assistants, kept her cool and the food arrived quickly and well prepared. They always do a good job here at the Northampton St location, but this experience made us appreciate the fine job that they do. Thanks, Friendly's! read more

OMG..What a horrible dining experience. Arrived @ 11:15am and was greeted by a disinterested and unfriendly seating hostess who asked if we preferred a small or large booth or a table..Advising we preferred a large booth she toured us around the restaurant in a disoriented fashion only to advise a few minutes into the "tour" there were no large booths. We advised we would sit anywhere and got seated at a tiny 2 top booth. After waiting a few minutes our server arrived and was equally as disinterested in her position as the seating hostess had been. She took our drink order and that came out fairly quickly (the only positive of the experience). After drinks were delivered she took our meal order. During this time another server kept arguing with the senior across the aisle from us that he could not order the breakfast meal he wanted as breakfast ended at 11...and it was 11:20..The restaurant policy could not be broken..He could only order lunch. About a 45 minutes later we were still waiting on our order of a patty melt and veggie burger. Meanwhile other parties who had come in well after us were getting served their meals. As I had not seen our server in some time I approached the seating hostess to ask if she could please check on the status of our order..She huffed into the kitchen to do so and shortly after several workers kept peaking out at us as I overheard excited conversation picking up that no order had ever even been placed for us. Another server then came out to advise on this. I asked if we could just pay for our drinks and go at which I was told she would get our check. She came back out to advise that the manager (who opted to just hide in the kitchen vs coming out to apologize to us herself) would comp our drinks..and give us free ice cream to go for our troubles..We declined the free ice cream and left..In the parking lot we found the manager having conversation with our server who was on her break in her car..Apparently her break had been more important then putting in the order for our meal..I called over that I was HIGHLY disappointed to which the manager called back..I'm screaming at your server now..At that we drove off...If your looking for any type of meal..even subpar AVOID this restaurant at all costs..The only thing they are able to deliver on is total disappointment..Truly the worst dining experience I have ever had. read more

Worst place ever!!! Stood in line for 18 min for a pick up order, just for my whole order to be wrong!!!! The place is run by a bunch kids that stand around talking instead of helping customers! The service at this location is shameful and completely ridiculous. The original owner of this location is probably rolling over in her grave. I ordered a meal online and when I arrived to pick it up, they hadn't even looked at my order, so it wasn't ready. It then took over an hour for them to prepare it for me. When I asked to speak to the manager, they told me there was no manager present at the time. The woman who was taking care of me informed me that one of their cooks had walked out so all their orders were being held up. I'm not sure what kind of shit-show these people are running, but it's inexcusable. I order from this location regularly as I live right by it, and every time I order there's something wrong. The employees are very rude, very childish, very unprofessional. They'll hire just about anybody it seems. Very sad. Friendly's really is going out of business, and here is a perfect example of why. read more

We went to this Friendly's on January 2nd 2014 I wouldn't give this Friendly any stars !!! It was the worst service I've ever experienced. The food was over cooked with the appetizer and my burger was "pink" which when I was asked by the waitress "pink or no pink", I stated NO PINK! Had to ask twice for silverware.We arrived around 3:15 or so in the afternoon figuring great we won't wait long as the "rush" is over. It took the waitress over 20 mins to get any drink orders, finally another waitress came and took hour drink orders Meanwhile a table behind with 6 people had just said they had been there for almost 3 hours!!! They made their ice creams to go and left. The mother said if it weren't for her children she would have left!! There wasn't anyone else in the restaurant just us and about 4 waitresses maybe 5. We were there until 4:55 and still the waitress never came back to take our ice cream orders. I called the manager over and did give us 15% off our bill. I also pointed out several tables as we were leaving where two elderly couples came in, sat themselves as no one greeted them and they still hadn't been acknowledged. A few others had also trickled in and were waiting to be served. NO EXCUSE for this, even the manager agreed! Manager, YOU ARE THE MANGER so you need to get managing! read more

This restaurant has been around since I was a kid. Pictures of Holyoke's past adorn the walls. Currently, they have 20 specials priced at $5.55 so everyone can eat affordably. No alcohol. Placemats and crayons for the kids to entertain themselves with. The sundaes are the best with the Ice cream made locally. They are known for their burgers, fribbles, ice cream and family friendly atmosphere. read more

Let me first state I am a fan of friendly's! Bad experience at the Holyoke Friendly's today, ordered my drink and food, beverage served promptly. After about a half hour and an empty soda I got up from the booth and found my server Simon and asked what happened to the food I ordered. The snotty response was "well what did you order?" like he had never seen me before! He asked the cook and it seemed it was the mystery on the Orient Express...so I told him nevermind and walked out. Mind you I had been waiting for a half an hour with no acknowledgement from Server Simon. The attitude was just horrendous. I called the store and talked to the manger (who saw me walk out without attempting to find out the problem) gave me the usual song and dance apology. I will be calling corporate and will not return to that Friendly's! read more

This place used to be run well. Now every time I order for pickup, it's a least a 15 min wait on top of the time they tell you. I ordered a bacon chicken ranch salad. I get home, it's a totally different salad. At least they gave me two containers of salad dressing right? Wrong! The salad dressing containers were filled 1/3 of the way, hardly any!!!!!! I was tempted to bring it back but I'm not waiting another 15 mins for something I should have had the first time. read more

Went into this friendlies at 8pm today and had to wait in the lobby for about 20 minutes without anyone greeting me and my boyfriend, serval people were there befor us and after and none had been greeted. I work as a server so I understand the food business and this is just very poor service at least acknowledge we exist. We went to parking lot to place our to go order instead of waiting, and they never even picked up phone. So we decided to call again. Finally got an answer. First off the girl on phone was rude didn't even say her name. Finally my boyfriend placed the order and she randomly said bye didn't give us a total or anything. I used to come her constantly as I love there salads and super melts, all around went very downhill yet why I never even sit down and eat anymore. It's such a shame that such a great place went downhill so bad. Me and my mother had the exact same experience before and the same thing keeps happening, also her review she wrote is not in the "not recommended" which makes no sense. Fix the problems instead of hiding them. If it was busy I'd understand but three customers sitting down and eating is not busy. read more

I went to freindlies for a pick up or derby phone as we entered the restaurant and went to counter to be waited in the server was at the window with a man and his young child who had ordered ice cream as she gave him his order and shut the window she called him a fucking jerk right in front of me and my daughter she was very unfriendly and dressed inappropriate for working there pant baggy and hanging down she made us feel like we had unconvinced her she was very rude and we felt very unwelcome as we where waiting for our food we noticed a large amount of flies on the counters that where dirty and had spilled soda on them it was gross we payed for our food and brought it home to eat to find the turkey burger was not fully cooked and the bun was hard and stale I have been going to this freindlies since my kids where very young and find that the services has gone down hill and the food is not desirable at all anymore the place is dirty and gross I would not recommend the freindlies on Nothampton st I'm Holyoke to anymore to anyone. read more
