I visited this restaurant this evening for the first time. It was fairly convenient in location, the outside of the restaurant and parking lot looked run down, the inside of the restaurant was decorated nicely, the dining room needed renovation, the restroom was dirty and messy, my server was friendly and efficient, my food and ice cream was delicious, service overall was good, the dining room was bright, my table was clean, and the prices were reasonable. read more

Wow this was awful. This is why friendly's is an entire joke. I came in here on a Monday at about 5:30 p.m.. and it was totally dead, which is no surprise. You just have a bunch of teenagers standing around blankly doing nothing. You have to seat yourself, which is fine. But then I sat there forever and had to ask them to come over to take my drink order. And then after that I had to ask them to bring me silverware. And then after that I had to ask them to come over and take my food order. And then after that I had to ask them to tell me why my Caesar salad doesn't have any Caesar dressing on it at all LOL and my waiter literally said I don't know where to Caesar salad is.. So I'm like why did you let me order a Caesar salad then? So then someone else comes over and he's like we don't have Caesar salads so I'm like okay then can you take this off the bill? Lololol.... Why would you take my order for a Caesar salad if you don't even have that? They never once checked on me the entire time I was eating to see if my food was okay. I wanted to order ice cream originally so I waited around forever and no one even asked me about ice cream. I was so annoyed by the end of the meal that I just said bring me my bill please so I can get out of here. He finally brings me the bill, I pay it immediately. I don't even know what was on it. The Caesar salad that I didn't even get probably was also on it. I wouldn't know. I have never not tipped in my entire life. Let me tell you, today I did not tip. That place is a total disaster. It looks like a halfway house. You just have a bunch of spaced out teenagers who don't even know where they are. Exhausting. Never again read more

Walked into friendly's after many years. . Shocked and completely disappointed. No host to sit you. Only 2 big tables big enough for a family. Small booths that only 2 can sit. The was not so busy and it was so dirty. Food on the floor that remained there the entire time i was there . Tables still with trash . All the staff was to busy to care. So we sat for about 10 minutes before anyone came to say hi. We are a family of 5 with one neurodivergent 4 year old . We all knew what we wanted to order so we places our order at about 535, we ended up getting our food at 7 , most already cold. My 4 year old was overwhelmed by the wait. So i had to walk out, my husband waited another 30 minutes just to get some milkshakes and pay . Im not sure why our food took so long fries, burgers and tenders that was it. Needless to say my daughter barely ate and didn't even get her dessert. This place was a really bad experience. The place looks runs down the cleanliness is lacking the service was horrible and the food was even worse. Lesson learned!! We will go elsewhere read more

The restaurant was almost empty when we arrived. We were told to take any seat we wanted. After 10 mins a server appeared apologizing because she didn't realize we were her customers. We ordered soft drinks which took another 10 minutes to arrive. We then ordered filets of fish which were delicious and then ordered sundaes to go for dessert. After twice forgetting the types of sundaes we ordered she brought us the sundaes and a check that overcharged us by a couple of dollars. When I questioned the overcharge a manager apologized and said "I'll talk to her". This led to another 10 minute wait and the waitress came out with the same incorrect check and apologized saying they couldn't fix the overcharge -- now expecting me to just pay it. I told her if she expected me to pay an overcharge the difference would be deducted from her tip. She turned around and 5 minutes later came out with a corrected check which I then brought to the counter to pay with cash. The cashier disappeared and 5 minutes later emerged and said "Are you waiting on change or something?" and I said "yeah... please. " A few minutes later our waitress emerged with my change (and yes, we did leave her a small tip). The staff and management need to be better trained in all areas of customer service and what to do when correcting errors on checks when they happen. I don't recommend this restaurant until it gets its act together. read more

I ordered from door dash, the door dash person said it took forever to get the order the food was cold I lI've 5 minutes from their location When the order arrived I was missing items I called the store the person that answered the call was rude he refused to give me his name he asked if I was going to keep him on the phone all day When I asked for a manager he hung up I called back no answer I called from another number he hung up again when I told him who I was. No Wonder Friendly's are going out of business. I wonder how are they even in business? I had no expectation but i realized that this crossed my min expectation as well. Entered the place only to see someone moping the floor with a dirty mop while people are eating. She comes to me to ask if I want to sit down picking up the Menu( Yes she was the hostess too). I wanted to order a to go. Stood for nearly 15 mins in front of the girl who was taking orders at the window. Someone did tell me, "I'll be with you sir Shortly". Still no one. You are supposed to put the order in so that the kitchen knows it. Finally they take the order only to ask me 4 times specifically the same thing - veggie burger with waffle fries and a shrimp platter with regular fries. another 15 mins wait. The waffle fries never made it. Nothing to talk about the food. Anyways (cannot even explain all that i saw). Any budding Franchise owners : Please visit this place, sit down order and observe well. Friendly's Northampton Street Holyoke, MA I've been going to this Friendly's for 40 years. Over the past 15 years it has declined in service, food preparation and cleanliness has been hit or miss. Consequently my patronage lessened. Oftentimes, I would drive 15 minutes to Northampton to Local Burger. This evening I took a chance and ordered from Friendly's. I was pleasantly surprised. I placed my order on line and got there at the suggested time. Upon arrival I was greeted CHEERFULLY and professionally by a young girl. I gave her my name and she got my order that was all ready. The Burgers and Fries were still hot when I got home. (I live 8 min away) The Burgers were prepared correctly including the specified toppings. The Ice Cream was also made correctly as per my order. In the past there was ALWAYS something wrong usually starting with no one interested in even acknowledging my presence upon arrival. The young woman (tattooed) with short brownish blonde hair on the counter this evening was hospitable well spoken and efficient. WOW, frankly I was astonished. I wish that I had gotten her name. She deserves recognition by her boss's and the Company. If you are listening Friendly's, and I hope you are...I was there on 12/8/23 and picked up my To Go order at 8:23pm. This was an excellent experience tonight! The restaurant appeared clean at the entrance and the area where they were making the Sundae's and Fribbles was clean! The All American Burger's were excellent and the Fries were crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. The Strawberry Fribble weighed a ton (not full of air) and the Reece's Cup Sundae had the perfect amount of toppings. If you are hesitant (as I was) just give it a try! Makes me wonder if there is new management. Whatever it is I hope they keep it up. We need Friendly's in our community. read more

My friend got a ultimate grilled cheese, that was supposed to have four types of cheese, it ended up being one slice of amarican cheese on toasted bread. When we got our order, we were missing a wrap. After being told by a worker we only ordered 3 sandwiches, even though it was on the receipt that we had 4, the manager comes over and needs to confirm this. She tells us she didn't know where it went because she saw them making it. We wait another 10-15 minutes for this wrap and then we get a "sorry about that" and leave. I came here knowing full well what Friendly's is about, and I'm generally fine with it every now & then. This location was awful, at least today. First, seated ourselves because there was no host or hostess. Second, our party of five had nowhere to sit without one person sitting in the aisle feeling in the way every time someone walked by. Third, our waitress had the personality of a doorknob. Plus, she washed tables AND served food. Gross. Bathroom smelled like a dirty mop with black hair tangled on the faucet. Temperature was freezing, so much that I had to leave twice to sit in the sun & warm up. See ya, Friendly's. Won't be back any time soon! read more

In fact, backwards is the perfect descriptor for this restaurant: take out window for simple cones took well over 30 minutes (after ordering!) even though there was virtually no line. Grubhub driver parked haphazardly in the lot for 15 minutes with terrible music blaring as though he owned the place and then sped out with delivery orders flying around his car. Really hoping management looks at the reviews because they all seem to say the same thing.... I'd skip this restaurant if you're considering. Maybe try a different location. This Friendly's was extremely crowded. The table next to us was basically part of our conversation and vice versa because of how packed close we were. We were not greeted when we entered the building, multiple employees looked right at us at the door and completely ignored us. The food took a little longer than we expected but we were fine with waiting. It was when our food came out that we were annoyed. I ordered a grilled cheese and the entire outside of the sandwich was covered with burnt cheese; it tasted horrible. I ended up sending it back and eating my soup alone. We were not asked how our meal was at any point and had to ask another waitress to get our waitress to get the bill, in which she did not even answer and walked away. There are tons of Friendly's in the east coast and this review is for those in the West Coast who have never been. Their motto here at Friendly's is "Where Ice Cream Makes The Meal" that alone should be an excuse to eat here. Their meals are a good size and they have very tasty items. I took advantage of their $11.99 deal where you choose one entree, one drink and ANY TWO SCOOPS OF ICE CREAM :D I got their New England Fish and Chips (well I actually changed it to Fish and Fresh Veggies - Hey I'm Californian). My drink was an Arnold Palmer and for dessert I had their Hunka Chunka PB Love, strawberry (cause it's good :D) and Swiss Chocolate sauce. Fantastic! All in all this location is great, but think of it like the Chili's of the East Coast where no matter where you go the meal is always the same. * This one is also near a hotel and servers are really nice. Everytime I come here, service is slow and employees just don't seem like they want to work. Have been coming here for a few years now since I was kid and service has really gone down hill. The last 3-4 times that I've gone that have range in a span of 2-3 months, I've ordered ice cream sundaes that have been given to me completely melted. They take an hour to cook food and don't even do it right. Multiple times we have picked up incorrect orders or been told the order was never made after we called it in. The people working the counter are busy chatting it up and acting like they don't want to be bothered. He said it was because I was pranking him. I asked to speak to a manager. I was put on hold (on my cell) long enough to dress, drive there, and wait in a line 5 deep. When I finally spoke to the cashier, I asked for his manager. He said "oh [expletive deleted]" and ran to the back. The manager (finally) took my order. I waited another 10 minutes for chicken tenders that should have been ready by the time I got there. He did refuse to charge me. But, going on the service I received up to that point, I assumed the tenders fell on the floor or were mostly spit. I threw them out as soon as he handed them to me and went to Applebee's.
