Egg shells

This wasn't my best visit for my favorite pancakes and it wasn't a weekend morning. I understand things happen... griddle particles on my pancakes, bacon dry and overcooked and egg shells in my eggs. The waitress was nice and I should have sent my meal back. The pancakes were good once wiped down lol

It's fabulous that Cracker Barrel continues to support RVers with overnight parking! I spent the night in their lot and in return, I had a fabulous breakfast in the morning though lighter sleepers might start to notice the traffic noise from Interstate 91. Eggs basted (they don't do poached) with sausage patties and a side of bacon. I'm eating keto so I asked them to keep the biscuits and toast and grits. A shame because their biscuits are made every morning and the grits are perfect. Yes, you can get grits north of the Mason-Dixon line at Cracker Barrel! Love the Store that you walk in to! It gives a nice home style country vibe to it. Definitely a place you want to bring your friends and family over. Servers were friendly for the most part but service was slightly slow. Sunday Special Chicken and Fries was absolutely delicious! I only wish the fries portion was slightly more. Mini-Strawberry Cheesecake was Fantastic!

I'm always hesitant to review chains because I find it hard to have them stand out in any way and write what hasn't been written before. My boyfriend and I are traveling to VT and stopped for breakfast here in Massachusetts. It was a typical breakfast, a cup of coffee, grits, bacon and over easy eggs. You can't really go wrong there. I personally don't like their biscuits and I really don't like their gravy. (I know, I know, im in the minority) to me they're always a little bland and blah. The grits were fantastic though. Service was great like it usually is and the store is all decorated for Valentine's Day and Easter! I refrained myself from purchasing all the cute decor. Overall, it was a great place for a road trip pit stop!

A little maple syrup helps the coffee go down!

One of the nice things about this Cracker Barrel, is that it always had a very large open space to sit, so you don't feel like you are in an awkward COVID-inspired seating arrangement with odd plastic dividers and curiously positioned tables to eat at. Even as a chain, the food is pretty decent for brunch. Unfortunately, the menu has not changed over the last 20+ years, because I really would enjoy seeing more gluten-free specials for bread or pancakes, or alt plant based meat options-like veggie sausage patties. I'm glad to see they now carry different flavored coffee drinks, but nobody really goes to Cracker Barrel for lattes do they? If they are going to do breakfast, I really would like to see them include some new options from time. I won't even ask for almond milk in my coffee... The food came out extremely quickly, and our waitress ,Gail, really knew how to be on top of refills and timing of when we might want something else. The cheesy hash brown casserole thing is always very tasty, but make sure you ask them to cook it a little bit longer because it's usually not super warm. For those who might not know, the peaches and apples that go on the waffles and pancakes do come in a very heavy sweetened syrup, so you don't necessarily need maple syrup- there is a lot of sugar in the topping. I do not know if they offer a straight up fresh fruit option like strawberries or blueberries,, I don't remember seeing that, but that would be the way to go over something that tastes like canned peach compote. The bacon is very good bacon according to my son, and he ate everything on his plate. Finally, the store area is indeed a whole separate positive review on its own accord. There are lots of little games and toys and all kinds of candy that are so much fun to look through That she won't see anywhere else. Good place to go for that last minute birthday gift actually...

Sunday Homestyle Chicken, with mac and cheese, and fried apples.

You can not go wrong with Cracker Barrel! One of my favorite restaurants. This is my local one and I've been coming here for years. It always seems to be on point with very few slip ups. The waiters are always so friendly and personable. I will always order the Sunday Homestyle Chicken (available every day now). Crispy and juicy, and they're 2 decent sized pieces to keep me full. Fried apples are so warm and cinnamon-y. Though I'm sad they discontinued the fresh apples still! I'm a huge fan of Moxie, and I've noticed sometimes this location seems to be out of stock. Which can be a bummer if you're a Moxie-fiend like me! I grab a bottle on my way in, and ask for a glass of ice once they take our order. My father got the Country Boy breakfast which is a lot of food!! Never seen him finish it and that man can eat! We also ordered the cheese bites as an appetizer, which are really good. I feel like you usually you get more. So if you're ordering for a bigger party than just a couple people, get 2 orders.

This was my first time eating at Cracker Barrel and all I have to say is that I'm impressed. The first thing I noticed in the restaurant was the decor and the gift shop with lots of cool things like toys, inexpensive jewelry, and candy! The host seated my boyfriend and I immediately and the waitress was quick to assist us. I ordered the fudge hot chocolate, which turned out to be a cookies and cream hot chocolate since they were out of fudge, biscuit beignets (highly recommended) and country fried steak. My boyfriend ordered the blueberry pancakes (highly recommended). I've tried blueberry pancakes at other restaurants, Cracker Barrel's blueberry pancakes were definitely #1. Other than that, will definitely come here for breakfast/brunch again whenever I'm in Massachusetts. Wish I took more photos of our food but I was so hungry that day, it didn't come across my mind.

(That's not a bad thing) Ya Yas is conveniently located in downtown Schenectady near State street on an unassuming corner you would pass easily if not paying attention. No worries, though there's plenty of parking and even a parking garage next door. I went on a slow Thursday night and was met with the owner who I assume was Ya Ya herself. She immediately greeted me with the house specials along with the homemade sides. I ordered the 1/2 chicken breast, collard greens, yams and corn bread the perfect southern food combo. I'd never tried collard greens but they were tasty and felt like a cross between spinach and Brussels sprouts. The bill was reasonable at $18 with plenty of food so you definitely won't go home hungry when leaving Ya Yas. If you're in the mood for some southern hospitality in Upstate NY, give this place a try I will definitely be back.

Nestled in the Wharf, it was a cute little place with both an up and downstairs. We reserved a spot for around 5:30 (in April) and it was pretty open. There weren't too customers yet, and it was nice and quiet. If you're looking for a ton of space for the seating area, I will say that there isn't too much room/it's pretty nice and cozy! At Wharf Southern Kitchen and Whiskey Bar, they've got a line of booths along the wall, a bar area right in the center and at the actual bar, a high top, another bar at one of the entrances, and a table that seats six. Now let's chat about the service. Our waitress was wonderful, patient, and was extremely helpful when asked questions and also gave SUCH wonderful suggestions. There were MANY fantastic choices on their menu and I was having a pretty difficult time narrowing down which one I really wanted, but with our waitress's help, I was able to choose pretty quickly (and they were AMAZING choices!) Now the food! The wait for the food honestly wasn't that long, and when we got it, we ABSOLUTELY CHOWED... -The Crispy Chicken Bites were AMAZING! I ended up upgrading to the Buffalo Style, and it DID NOT disappoint at all! The Bleu Cheese crumbles were just the perfect amount, and the Buffalo sauce was JUST enough to still enjoy the crispiness of the chicken. I DID ask for ranch on the side, and that just was *chef's kiss*! -I've never had fried pickles before, but I certainly have never seen a restaurant do it with whole pickles. Though it was my first time trying fried pickles, it tasted great! I wouldn't say it's anything special, but it's a great, and lighter on the fried side, appetizer! -I was having a hard time choosing what entree to enjoy, but I'M SOOOO glad that I went with the Smoked Brisket Chopped Cheese! I'm not a big brisket girl, but I will say that this was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! At first when it came out on the bun, I was a little skeptical of how it would taste, but it definitely didn't disappoint! The brisket was cooked SO well with the perfect amount of seasoning, and it all just melted so perfectly together as I was eating it. And the tater tots were SO AMAZING (though on the saltier side) and SO perfectly crispy. I've only got great things to say about Wharf Southern Kitchen & Whiskey Bar & I WILL be back here/will suggest it to my friends visiting Newport one day!

The restaurant itself is small but always cleanly and I love how their windows have seasonal paintings on them. They also sell excellent kettle corn. I highly recommend! My grandma and I went last night but have been here numerous times before. I've often found some of their meat to be pretty dry but I do like the meatloaf. That's exactly what I had last night along with baked potato salad, Mac and cheese, and cornbread. They also make some of their drinks in house as well like the iced tea and root beer. My meatloaf was great! Nice Smokey flavor and four pieces was a hefty portion. The last two slices had some harder pieces of fat which I needed to take out of my mouth though. The potato salad is always killer- I think they add some sour cream to it to make it tangier. Cornbread is some of the best I've ever had- super sweet and cake like. The Mac and cheese was also excellent with great creaminess. Iced tea was sweetened and also very good. Our waitress was very kind and accommodating. We had banana pudding for dessert which was good overall. I prefer the Magnolia Bakery recipe more but appreciated how the nilla wafers were fresh and it had plenty of banana. I would lay off the cool whip in the future though. Overall, an excellent restaurant who does right by their employees and the community. I love to see it and support whenever I can!

Finding a restaurant serving southern food in Vermont seems much like discovering clam chowder in…read moreArkansas. (No offense, Arkansas.) But there it is, as we were surprised to learn when we stopped by on a recent drive through Vermont. For folks like us who grew up in South Carolina and Georgia, Pearl's menu is home cooking, and pretty tasty, as it turned out. Not that everything worked, but we really enjoyed our dining here, will come back, and want to tell a bit about our experience. While there are some menu items that are generalized, the focus is clearly on the South. We were treated to cornbread first on the table -- delicious -- and then went after appetizers starting with biscuits, which were flaky, soft, cooked just right and perfectly served with both peach butter and gravy. And then the okra pickles (yes, no kidding) were crunchy and tangy. There was a couple at an adjoining table who looked at that last dish as if it was some kind of living alien. We tried to explain. The deviled eggs were first-rate: just a squidge of heat and fine flavor. We ordered the country fried steak, pretty good though just a little bit tough underneath mouth-watering gravy. The shrimp and grits was appealing in part because it's so hard to find grits properly cooked anywhere in New England, and the shrimp (4) were very large but not quite as tender as we would have hoped. A good dish, but not a great one. We ended the meal happy and filled. But... Pearl's is not a cheap trip. The shrimp and grits were $36, the country steak $32. The biscuits and biscuits were $16 each. Our server was very friendly but she missed water refills, and our time between dishes seemed a little too long. It was enough to draw our comments about the wait, never a good sign. We thought the level of noise was on the high side, but that was most likely one table of four people nearby whose conversation seemed to get only higher and higher pitched. It's an attractive interior, an older home, we'd guess, with lot of room for tables. There a nice bar area with a lot of seating, a patio and fire pit, so they can fit in a lot of people in good weather. And there's a small section inside where restaurant merch and some Vermont food items like maple syrup and jams are sold. It adds up to a lot of reasons to hang around. And maybe put away another biscuit or two.

We got there around 1:40 p.m. and they closed at 2, so my friend was a little worried, but we were still welcomed and the staff was very friendly. It's a small place, but I actually liked that it felt cozy. We ordered 12 oysters, two orders of gumbo, a kale Caesar salad, the catfish special to split, and a bourbon-based drink. The oysters were $2 each, which I thought was a pretty good deal. The gumbo was really, really good. It came out a little lukewarm, but the flavor was absolutely there 10/10. The oysters were fresh and also 10/10. The bourbon drink was another standout. The presentation was beautiful, the little flower was such a nice touch, and it tasted just as good as it looked. The kale Caesar was where things dipped a little. It was pretty dry, so we asked for extra dressing, but the dressing didn't really add much flavor. When our waitress checked in, we were honest and said it just wasn't our favorite. I hate sending food back or complaining. I'll usually just stop eating it but she was so kind and apologetic. What really stood out was how they handled it. They told us they were taking the salad off the bill, which they absolutely did not have to do. We had planned to just take the one we had already eaten from home and fix it ourselves, but one of the staff members made us a completely new salad to go. She even massaged the kale so it was actually tender and enjoyable. That was such a thoughtful touch. The catfish was a hit for my friend. It wasn't my favorite, but I still ate it. Overall, I would definitely come back. Next time I'd probably keep it simple; oysters, gumbo, and a drink and I'd be happy. The service was phenomenal, and honestly, service really makes a place. Feeling welcomed and comfortable matters, and this place absolutely gave that.
