We decided to try Friendly's as ads have been popping up on FB. It has been years since I've set foot in one, as they've always been lackluster. It's obvious we haven't been missing anything. We waited a few minutes to be sat. I ordered a burger, cheese only, medium rare. My friend ordered a plain burger, well done. I had an iced tea w/lemon, my friend a Coke Zero. The food came out, and my burger was well done. I called the server over and told here there was nothing medium nor rare about my burger. The server looked at me and said " Sorry, I don't cook the food " and walked away. That was it... no offer to replace, no manager sent to the table, nada. She never even came back to offer drink refills, and so on. The hostess who seated us came over and asked if we wanted desserts. We said that regular sundaes came with our meals. Our original server eventually came over and took the orders for those. As I headed back to the restroom, I noticed that almost all of the tables hadn't been cleared nor wiped down. The place hasn't been updated in years and looked worn... Bottom lining it: I was more than generous by tipping 15% in cash. The whole experience left a LOT to be desired. I know it will never be the legacy restaurant I grew up with, but it's obvious that it will never be anything good at all. It will take a lot to get me to attempt to dine there again. read more

Our intrepid group of five, four sinners and Deacon Paul, stopped for breakfast after a morning Mass at Saint Martha's in Enfield. I hadn't been to a Friendly's for breakfast since they closed the Windsor Locks location several years ago. Plenty of parking in the Enfield location, and Kaitlyn found us a large table in the back room. I was pleasantly surprised at the choices and prices (more than reasonable). I opted for the meat lover's omelet (came w toast and HFs, which came w or w/o onions... I opted for the "breath"). Food came out reasonably fast, considering it was pretty busy. My omelet was perfectly cooked, the HFs were also perfect. Only quibble was the marble rye toast was barely toasted. And all four of my friends drank for free (there us no charge for senior coffee). Kaitlyn checked on us regularly. I would definitely recommend Friendly's for breakfast. A solid 4 stars. read more

Generously leaving 2 stars, I should be leaving no stars. I called and they said they closed at 10:30. Sunday 7/20 is National Ice Cream day. I've lived on Friendly's ice cream for probably 40 years. I was pulling into my parking spot directly in front of the take out area at 10:13. There was an older woman about 5'5"-5'7"(ish) at the take out door. I immediately got out of my car and to the door, SHE LOCKED the door on me, on National Ice Cream Day! I was back in my car by 10:15. I don't write negative reviews often, but that was downright rude. Yes, I now it was close to closing time I got there as soon as I could, still before their closing time. Talking with some younger individuals a younger Friendly's employee opened the door as I was writing this. I asked how they got them to open the door, apparently they need more napkins. Perhaps the nostalgia is skewing my review higher than it would be if I didn't grow up going to Friendly's what felt like multiple times a week, but it looks like absolutely nothing has changed. The interior is classic American diner styling inside, though it did feel a bit tired and in need of a refresh. We just grabbed ice cream at the window to go, so didn't experience the full menu. The sundaes we ordered were made quickly and really hit the spot. Friendly's is best at ice cream - and they really do it well. Despite no longer living near a Friendly's, when I do get the chance to go back, they still deliver the nostalgia and delicious ice cream just as I remember from my childhood. read more

She is very courteous and always walking by to bring others items and stopping at each table to make sure things are Good and asking if there is anything else needed. Awful food, worse customer service. Will not be back I can't believe I'm taking the time to write a review for a chain restaurant but I had not been to a Friendly's in years and my most recent visit was so terrible, I will NEVER be returning. On the evening of October 1st, I placed an order on their (lackluster) mobile app for carry out. I ordered one of their specialty hamburgers with french fries. The only "special instructions" I provided was "No Mayo". I hate mayo. It makes me sick and I cannot eat it. 30 minutes later, I picked up the order from the restaurant within 5 minutes of the expected timeframe provided. I immediately went back to my car, absolutely starving, to check the order. Not only did, the sandwich have mayo on it (it even said "No Mayo" on the order ticket lol) but the fries were, and I am not exaggerating, literally the worst french fries I have ever been served in my life. 100% wet, soggy and greasy. Inedible. I was infuriated but I politely walked back in side, and calmly asked an employee the employee to speak to a manager. I showed the manager the incorrect order and the disgusting fries. She wasn't very apologetic, and told me they'd remake it. I had already waited 30 minutes, and while the mayo was a mistake and that can happen, being served such awful fries showed a 100% lack of care or effort on the part of the kitchen and staff. I decided I was going to take my business elsewhere for the evening. I told the manager I didn't want a new order. I wanted a refund and to leave. They gave a bs excuse to get rid of me saying (paraphrasing) "well if you want a refund, it will take a week because I have to contact corporate since you ordered on the app. I said fine. That was almost 4 weeks ago. Two weeks after the incident when I noticed I had not been refunded, I called customer service (I used Google to find the number). It said I had to call during a weekday when I am usually working. So today, I finally had some time off, called, and was told Friendly's customer service only supports retail sales. For store complaints, visit the website. There is no customer service number on the website, just a form to send a message. Who knows if they'll ever get back to me? I'm so upset I figured if they won't refund my $14 bucks, if writing a review deters even one person from eating at this embarrassment of a restaurant chain, I'll take it. Disgusting food, and extremely poor customer service. If you want a burger, literally go to any other chain. I literally went to Wendy's next door after the ordeal, and ordered a better burger of similar size, with fresh properly cooked fries, for 8 bucks, a full 6 dollars less. read more

I love to stop here when I am in town since all of the Friendly's out where I live have closed, sadly. Last time I was here I had the stroganoff and the barking pretzel shortbread sundae which were very good. My salad today was delicious as well. Friendly's was my family's staple breakfast spot on the weekends. The one near my house in MA closed down so I was excited to see that there was one near my boyfriend's place. Honestly, the food is mediocre, the place is pretty run-down/not the most clean, and the service is a hit or miss. However, my main reason for coming to Friendly's is for their delicious crispy homefries. Friendly's is about the only place that serves the homefries that I love. At most breakfast spots, they usually serve grilled potatoes that are charred on the outside and too soft on the inside. Thus, I will continue coming back to Friendly's as long as they still serve the crispy homefries. Side note: Their ice creams are always amazing options as well! read more

My kids have swimming lessons around 10am every Saturday, by the time they get out, they're starving. Friendly's has been our weekly go-to lunch place afterwards. The coffee is actually decent, and the servers we've had have been great. I get the same thing every time (munchie mania) and it's consistent every time. Nothing worse than finding something you like at a restaurant only to go back for it a week later and it's not cooked right or the flavors are off. I also like how we can pay through their tablet right at the table. Makes it quick and easy, no waiting around for a server to drop our check so we can get going. i went too friendlys on Saturday, we were greeted immediately but a young girl.. I believe her name was jewls. She was extremely happy and pleasant. She checked on us every time she was able to although it was pretty busy, if we asked for something she was at our beck and call. I had mentioned to her she should look for another up scale restaurants for her level of expertise! She was able to take all 4 of our complicated order without a hitch in the order between different sauce, how we wanted our specialized burgers and different ice cream toppings. Apparently, this was an ice-cream chain that turned diner in the 1950's. We'd seen plenty of these in the East coast, and finally stopped at one for dinner. To me, it looked like a good place to "Pick 3 Appetizers." I'm glad I did, because I like weird food. The first 2 appetizers were mundane, but the third was a hoot. Cheeseburger Sliders - were fine in a Denny's sort of way. The burger is not overly processed and the buns have a nice toast to them. The Fried Pizza Pockets - were on the disappointing side, as the goo inside was mostly uninteresting sauce without even a pretense to pepperoni. The pocket, however, was a fun sort of fried ravioli with a nice crisp outer layer. But then... The Buffalo Chicken Strips - hit me with a totally unexpected and bizarre flavor explosion. "What is happening inside my mouth?" said my nose to my brain. This is a deliciously chemical taste, but strangely appealing. And familiar. Where have I tasted this before? The flavor was savory, it was "extreme," and it had absolutely nothing to do with "buffalo" or with "chicken." It had a spice to it, but not a pepper-sauce heat. Instead, this was something I associated strongly with a realm of things you put in your mouth - but not at meals. I chewed, I took another bite. I inhaled this spiced and curious wonder. "Slim Jims!!!" Ah-hah! Ooooh-yeeeah! That's a beefy-spicy-snap right there in my chicken strips! When chain restaurants get creative with their flavor-chemicals, I tend to enjoy even the disastrous forays into foul territory. Sometimes I'd rather have a cheeseburger-Dorito that tastes like a holographic pickle than eat a real piece of food. Once a restaurant is large enough, it isn't a chef that creates the flavors but instead a team of guys in white labcoats with beakers. Specific and unique flavors can be created by ratios of chemicals mixed by the ton, and the result is a "branded" flavor like we associate with McDonald's fries. (that flavor was designed by a French perfume company) "More di-ethyl sulfate? Should this sauce taste more... green?" However it came to pass, the Friendly's flavor scientists were swinging for the "buffalo chicken" fences and somehow hit the ball into left-field. Where it happened to land... exactly in Slim Jim territory. I busted up laughing. Their ranch dipping sauce has a huge amount of diacetyl in it. Butter-flavored ranch. Those weirdos. We rocketed down the highway while I dipped my SlimJim Chicken Fingers into Movie Theater Butter Ranch. read more
