I always come here and get mac n cheese and its always very creamy cheese almost like a water consistency and so good. Friendly's is a classic! They serve diner style food and ice cream. Went out to dinner with the family and had a great experience. The service was good and fast. The food came out hot and tasty. My toddler approved! I had the Honey BBQ Chicken Supermelt; it's on sourdough bread, chicken tenders, honey BBQ, cheddar, bacon, and ranch dressing. This was so good. The fries were also crispy and delicious. I also had blackberry ice cream for dessert. My toddler liked his hot dog and loved his sundae. This is the worst service I have ever experienced at friendly. It took about 35 minutes to bring out my food. They brought out my Nephew chicken, nugget and fries and the lady told me they forgot a drop my fries. I didn't ask for mayonnaise by time he brought the mayonnaise out. I was finished with my fries. I ask another waiter what was going on with my order she told me that they were making pick up ordered first of all that not my problem. I'm a customer like the next person. I suggest maybe they need some more training on customer service to stay in business this is not acceptable. Really good service here on Sunday afternoon. I checked in and Yelp popped up a free appetizer offer. When I presented it to our server Alexander he checked with the manager and said they needed a code. But Yelp doesn't provide a code, it just says "Use now" or "Save for later", that's it. No code, so they initially said they couldn't give the offer. But then they discussed it further in the back and the manager was very accommodating and took the appetizer off our bill. Good on them. Sometimes there's miscommunication between restaurants and Yelp regarding these offers, but in this case it worked out. I ordered a fried clam platter appetizer and the lobster shrimp quesadilla for lunch. Very tasty, though the quesadilla was slightly overseasoned (i.e. salty). But still good. Too full for dessert. This place was a complete letdown. I came in for the first time very hungry ready to enjoy a bacon mac & cheese burger, but it was nothing like what was advertised. First, I waited forever just to be served a plain burger--no mac, no cheese, just disappointment. I sent it back, thinking they'd fix it, but they took forever AGAIN and I thought they were making it When it finally came out, I couldn't believe it. There were maybe 8 macaroni noodles on the whole burger. You could literally count each noodle. Where was the creamy mac & cheese the menu promised? Good luck finding it. To top it off, the water tasted awful--like toilet water, honestly. This was such a frustrating experience, and I'll never be coming back. Haven't been here in 3 years so we were in the neighborhood and my son wanted it. Walked in and was sat right away we had a friendly older waitress. My son ordered a Turkey Melt, he took one bite and said it was delicious and with the Turkey melt he ordered mashed potatoes, that was a different story he didn't care for it and he loves potatoes, I was shocked on that one so I grabbed my fork and took a little bit and I cannot explain it just wasn't great at all. My boyfriend ordered a Burger which in his words " a Burger is a Burger" and I ordered a classic BLT which was actually pretty good and different from the other restaurants I ordered from. I believe it's the bread though I am not certain but something about this BLT is different in taste. The place could use some updating though, it just looks stuck from the late 90's, more tables would be nicer than booths, no offense to my other half he is a big guy and squeezed into the booth. One star only because of the ease in ordering online and the friendly staff. That's where it ends; I ordered their clam chowder and the Cobb salad. The chowder was just water no substance no potatoes or clams, also it had a weird taste to it, it didn't taste like clam chowder. The Cobb salad also had an interesting taste to it. The crispy chicken seemed like it was fried in old oil the bacon had the same taste. Not a very good lunch at all. This will be the only time I will order from Friendly's. read more

It's been a while since we ate here. Last time was during covid and didn't have a great experience. My wife and I live close by and this restaurant was always a favorite. Friendly's is back to its former glory. Food was excellent, the service was 5* and the place was very clean. I would have given it five stars but for a couple of minor issues. The urinal flush valve was broken and the hand sanitizers were empty. If we learned any good things during covid is that cleanliness counts big. read more

This is an update to the review I wrote for this restaurant five years ago and people............. It gets worse. This restaurant chain used to be beloved in the New England area and now I can plainly see why they're closing down left and right. It's sad because they had the unique niche of the ice cream being the big finish of the meal. Sadly, it's everything that leads up to the ice cream which is sub par. Again my responsibility as a yelp elite is to let you know the spots to go and the which ones to avoid with your family. The TLDR is don't come here. The service is again super slow even when empty (I have pictures) the waitress brought out the wrong food (again it wasn't busy here) the food is and dare I say, it smells a little funny in here. Clearly the sun is setting on this franchise and the quality of the service is going down right along with it. Friendly's is like that old family dog who's lived a full life but now he's old and tired. He doesn't come when you call. He poops and pees in his bed at night and you fastly approaching the date to put him to sleep. It's been real old friend and we had some fun memories but it's all over. read more

Adding to this awful dinner,was a family that had a Shreaking child,yelling at the top of his lungs,with a Mother completely ignoring her child.Not CUTE and totally rude. Friendly's is one of those places that you can never go wrong for the kids!! The variety of ice cream just makes a child's eyes glow, especially mine!! My daughter had her choice of where she wanted to eat for a girls' day, and Friendly's was her pick. We started off with the chicken quesadias as our appetizer,they were yummy. Then my daughter ordered the double cheeseburger sliders with fries that she really enjoyed. I ordered the classic turkey club super melt with ex russian dressing and a side of the tasty honey mustard for my fries!! The melt was great, and the fries were nice and crispy. Then my daughter ordered the make your own ice cream sundae that she had so much fun with and, of course, enjoyed every bite. Our service was excellent, and our server was super friendly, and our food was out in perfect timing. On the way out, we played the claw game a few times. we didn't win, but we had fun!! One of the most disgusting "restaurants" I've ever visited. Dining room is dingy, dusty and completely run down. Microwaved food, filthy steam table water, wilted lettuce, rotten tomato slices, filthy fryer oil that you can smell as soon as you walk in the place. Maybe if you're lucky, their master chef Chris Martinelli will cough on your food as well. How this place passes health inspections is a complete mystery to me. Lady #1 behind the counter: "I'll be right with you". Then she walked away. Lady # 2 in front of the counter: "Two for breakfast?" Then she walked away. Lady # 3 in front of the counter: "Two for breakfast?, Follow me" . Coffees ($2.39) came out fast and were good and hot. Omelettes ($7.49) took a while. They weren't piping hot and were decidedly smaller than what you see anywhere else. We noticed the menu didn't call them "three egg omelettes" just omelettes, so you draw your own conclusion. The home fries were very good and piping hot, but were definitely a small portion. My omelette was eggbeaters (Huzzah for no up-charge), onions, mushrooms and ham. It was very good. Service was what we expected considering we had no expectations. It was slow, so slow in fact that our server got bonus points for walking over and apologizing for the wait. And we had a good long chuckle at how long it took for a table across the aisle from us to get cleared, it was 20 minutes if it was 5 seconds. Have I had better? Absolutely yes. Waitresses and scoopers are always super kind and attentive. I do wish this place invested in deep cleaning that would make the place smell less like.. well, feet. The workers can only do so much but the managers should address this as it's pretty gross. I'm almost certain it's from ice cream getting into the carpet and turning sour smelling but I can only speculate. read more

Went for breakfast this morning. Our waiter John was professional and attentive. The food came quickly and i loved that the bacon was crispy! The coffee tasted a bit old and stale, so John quickly brought me a fresh cup. The best surprise was when we found out that the breakfast bill is 50% off on weekdays!
