You either like a cheeseburger with two patties or not. The burger was decent enough in that overcooked kind of way. And it was cute to add fries and bacon to one on it. But it was just ok. The chicken sandwich is a mess. Too much bun. Almost inedible tough chicken from a freezer. Skip it. The fries were ok. I liked the seasoned ones. No one else did. We had it delivered but the packaging was so skimpy it leaked in the bag and broke. So I had a guy giving me food one by one. Not good. Skip the cookies. They tasted like burgers. I had the New England Clam Chowder as an app and it was excellent. I had their Turkey Club sandwich for my meal, that also included a small house salad. The sandwich was served on freshly baked sour dough bread, and was very good also. The wife had the French Onion Soup, and we both liked it very much, although we both thought it was a little too sweet. I also had a couple draught beers, one of them had an ABV of 18% and was a very heavy stout served only in 5 oz glasses, which was enough. Our server at the bar, Vera, was attentive, pleasant, and friendly. We took a self-guided tour of the facility, and were impressed with the size and scope of the operation. And trust me, this spot is definitely worth hunting down to experience a standout breakfast or lunch. We walked in a little before 1:00 yesterday and found a table for two in the back left corner of the dining room, so we had a good view of the entire room. I have to tell ya, the place was packed! Breakaway closes at 3:00 every day except Sunday (2:00), and there were breakfast and lunch menus out, plus a few daily specials. My wife went with a "William's Ham Panini" ($17) with thin sliced ham, bacon, caramelized onions, cheddar and honey mustard on a grilled panini. We both were struck at how much ham was piled onto her sandwich. She had a few choices for a side dish and put her nickel down on potato salad. I went with The JT Salad ($16). The menu says it's been their "best-selling salad 25 years and counting". It was a big portion of mixed greens served with house balsamic dressing, grape tomatoes, gorgonzola cheese, and grilled chunks of teriyaki glazed chicken breast. It was stellar, with plenty of that yummy cheese and chicken. The only sour note with our lunch was a rather steep $4.25 for a glass of iced tea that was half-filled with ice. The food was very good and a decent amount of leftovers came home with us for another day. I was unexpectedly impressed by how crowded Bistro was on a random Monday. I bet you'll be too.
