Situated central in a vibrant crossroads, Routes 44, 179, & 202. Beside the Canton Creamery other popular commercial stops that make stopping for a cone, sundae, and other frozen treat irresistible. With so many unique flavors and mixes I had to "throw some dice" to decide which and HOW MUCH to order. Of course the young window attendant was very patient and very pleasant to an old dude like me acting like an indecisive kid! Mama Bear, me, and Puppy Bear each enjoyed a double scoop of Orange Cream (me), a double chocolate mint, and a prepared Pup Cup for you know who. The pup cup was frozen stiff, that's good, we were able to bring leftovers home for another treat. This ice cream shop is located in the Petal and Paws building on the corner of Cherry Brook Rd. and Route 44. They offer homemade micro batch ice cream. They had so many flavors to choose from; classics such as chocolate and vanilla to unique flavors such as Guinness, Kaluha, Jamaican rum, and chai. There were outdoor seating available and plenty of parking. Ingredients were from local farms and varies with the season; from blueberry to pumpkin ice cream. They have quarts of ice cream, ice cream cake, shakes, cones, and cups. They also have their own hot fudge sauce, ice cream sandwiches, and doggy ice cream. Other options include vegan ice cream, iced coffee, and ice cream floats. They also had hot dogs. The service was good and it was lovely sitting outside enjoying our treats. I ordered the snickerdoodle ice cream on a waffle cone and it was huge and delicious. I look forward to trying out their other flavor offerings! read more

Ice cream is always a good choice! Despite the rainy, cooler weather, I was in the in the area so I decided to check out Canton Creamery. The Creamery is attached to the large Petal to Paws building which made it easy to find and has plenty of parking. The creamery has a separate outdoor walk up window for ordering and ample covered, outside seating surrounded by beautiful plants. Their menu offers a large variety of flavors for cup/cone scoops, as well as, sundaes, milkshakes, and ice cream sandwiches. Vegan options are available too. I am a big key lime fan so I asked for a sample, and it was the best key lime ice cream I've tasted! However, I ended up ordering a scoop of the Tahiti coconut chocolate chunk. It was absolutely delicious, creamy, and flavorful! You could see the coconut flakes and it had a generous amount of chocolate chunks. I will definitely be coming back and bringing a cooler with me in order to grab a couple pints to go! If you are in the area, it's a must go! read more

Overall it would probably be 4.5 stars but lets just round it up. It's located in petals and paws, but has a separate window outside for orders and serving. They have interesting flavors including alcoholic ones too, which unfortunately I wasn't able to try. I did try the ginger, maple walnut, and chocolate hazelnut. I hoped for stronger maple and chocolate flavors, but still were solid flavors. Ginger was stronger and well balanced, though it's definitely be for a day with specific cravings or if you really love ginger! There are some seating outside. You can also browse the store while enjoying the ice cream. There are quarts and packaged ice cream sandwiches for sale as well! It's a little out of the way to come to the actual store, but I'll be picking up their icecream from grocery stores more often. read more

This is a great spot for those hot summer days when you want some really great ice cream. I got the peanut butter cookie and toffee bar crunch. I love getting the two scoops with two different flavors because you always get a little more than two scoops! Both were smooth and creamy with those nice bites if cookie and crunch in there to keep it interesting. They had many flavor options and seem to try different ones fairly often. It's right on a main road and a perfect stop after many different activities whether you just went hiking, biking, camping or kayaking. read more

I purchased a quart of ice cream in a supermarket and it was so delicious it prompted me to purchase another quart the next time I was in the store. On each quart were free ice cream cone vouchers only redeemable at Canton Creamery's store front. One afternoon I arrived at the store front. Excitedly, I handed over my vouchers to the most ungrateful small business owner I've ever encountered. The first words out of his mouth were an interrogative questioning of where I had obtained the vouchers. His exact words were, "where did you get these?" Not really remembering which grocery store I purchased them at, I said Stop & Shop, which prompted him to belittle me further stating that he did not do any business with Stop & Shop and furthered the questioning as if to imply I had forged his vouchers. After conceding to the interrogation, a lovely woman took my order and tried to overcompensate for the words that had just been exchanged. I left with such a distraught feeling that not even the sweetest ice cream could get rid of the sour taste left in my mouth. Decent ice cream, bizarre location inside Petals and Paws, a combo garden/pet store. Unless you have exact change, you have to take your ice cream to the main register in Petals and Paws in order to pay. I had one scoop of cinnamon and one scoop of key lime. The key lime was out of this world! But the cinnamon was too cinnamon-y and had sort of a powdery grittiness to it. If you want a scoop of ice cream while buying dog food, then this is the perfect place for you! read more

I so wanted this place to crush! I'll say this, my kiddo was over the moon. His classic chocolate in a dish was "everything I ever wanted Mummy!!" So for that adorable moment, I have Canton Creamery to thank. As for his slightly more discerning parents who have been dieting for weeks, had been counting on this for days and starving ourselves all morning as we budgeted our calories...we didn't even finish the medium mocha coffee chip we had decided to split, and had every intention of fighting over the lions share. Wasn't worth the calories. I've had Canton Creamy ice cream before and it's been the indulgent frozen bliss I craved, just not this time. Ice cream was icy, not so creamy as its namesake implies. There were flies everywhere, inside and out. The tables and chairs were covered in bird poo and the fella scooping seemed entirely over it this weekend. End of summer fatigue, maybe...both for the ice cream that had clearly been in the freezer for months and the fella dishing it up. We will be back again next season tho, ready to spend our daily calorie intake on what we hope is the Canton Creamery we know and love! read more

The ice cream is ok. The customer service is HORRIBLE. Walked in at 4:55 on a Sunday. They close at 5. Was told repeatedly we had to hurry up because they were "closing up shop." It was so off putting that I didn't want to eat the ice cream. I understand that the people behind the counter wanted to go home, but then close the doors at 4:45. This is a very unique place in Canton, CT. Not only do they have EVERY pet need you could ask for fulfilled with their selection but they also offer home goods AND ICE CREAM! The woman who runs the store, Sandy, makes all of the Canton Creamery Ice Cream herself and she has perfectly concocted some VERY unique flavors! Ice cream was ok, but service was horrible. Employees seemed miserable and were quite rude to my friends and I. Working in the service industry myself, I understand having a bad day, but there comes a point where you have to suck it up and be friendly, regardless of the customer. Especially at an ice cream shop. I'd normally give them the benefit of the doubt but based on their other reviews, it seems their bad service has become a pattern. Who hired that pissant? The place closes at 4:00, when we walked up to the door at 4:01 it was blocked by soldier pissant, although we thank him for his Memorial Day service, we only wanted a scoop of ice cream that we drove for miles for. There was a line of people who were turned down by soldier pissant, including a small boy with a half shirt on and his ass hanging out. The boy's father should've been focused on getting him some fitting clothes then a scoop of ice cream. We forced to go to our second choice, carvel. FANTASTIC FARM FRESH tasting ice cream. Way better than Tulmeadows! We hadn't been to this store in years but "needed" to get ice cream yesterday afternoon with my daughter. I still can't believe I've been driving by or going to other local shoppes for years and missing out on this shop. The Chocolate Three Ways (pieces, homemade fudge stripe and I forgot the other!) was everything a chocolate lover needed and more! And the Peanut Butter was the best ice cream I've ever had in my 29+ years, and that's including my mother's homemade ice cream-and my mom took home countless ribbons over the years for her baking at the Missouri State Fair. Canton Creamery's waffle cones were not only homemade but CRISP!!! Just last week (true confessions) we were at Ben & Jerry's and their cones may be freshly made but they're soggy whether you get the plain waffle cones or the chocolate covered waffle cones. And for the money, Ben & Jerry's should be perfect! And as the previous reviewer mentioned, Canton Creamery makes them all right there and has some very unusual flavors. And if you don't see the flavor you're looking for on the menu board, look in the pints and quarts stocked right there. We actually ended up asking for a quart of the peanut butter after having tried it. PRICES, if my memory serves me correctly, are somewhat cheaper than Tulmeadow and Ben & Jerrys, too. They also have a frequent cone card! And yes, the pet store they run carries more than one could possibly believe for the size of the store; birds, rabbits, cats, dogs and much high-end material. read more
