Finally got to try this new place in Kōloa. Upstairs overlooking Kōloa Road with a nice breeze through the open windows. We walked in at noon and sat at the bar. It's a pretty big bar (maybe 20 seats) for the size of the restaurant, with 6 tv screens on each side of the bar. Bartender was friendly and left us to look at the menu while we waited for our friend. Good selection of drafts so I tried a hazy. We all ordered sandwiches, hubby got a fish sandwich, I got the O.G. burger and cuzn ordered a custom burger with grilled onions. Our food was delivered by the manager, who checked on us again, as well as the bartender. Our food was excellent, great portions, nice handmade burgers and fresh French fries. The manager chatted with us and said they also own the downstairs space and hope to open a bar/lounge soon. I definitely recommend this restaurant, and hope they succeed in little Kōloa! read more

If I could give more stars I would! I have never had a business go above and beyond. I cannot tolerate gluten or soy and the kitchen staff here made every accommodation so I could have the poke nachos. They fried the chips specially so they did not have soy. I love this sports bar! We were able to watch our games and I didn't get sick after eating what I wanted. My husband is still raving about the wings he had too! read more

What a great find. Fantastic margarita (So good I forgot to take a picture). Also should have taken some pictures of the interior. We well be back! read more

Perfect wedge salad. Enough for two meals. Poke bowl was fair. Servers were attentive. Busy sports bar

Server was nice, however service was horrible. Food was brought out for me and my oldest daughter. 30 minutes later and still no Ramen noodles for my wife and two other daughters. After an hour and half and eating some of their mediocre nachos, we left over to Ramen place next door, which was awesome. Would not recommend this place to anyone for they were not very friendly, unless you like being ignored. Thanks for the unpleasant dining experience. read more

Shockingly good rice bowl with fresh greens, veggies, sauce and poke from a sports bar. One of my favorite meals so far. Cute patio too. Glad to have a sports bar in the area with good menu choices. read more

Amazing Gluten-Free food location. Almost everything is gluten free and delicious! Great service with friendly staff.

Great staff, great food, good prices and lots of TVs. It's an open air upstairs terrace. Great vibe as well. Highly recommend if looking for a casual lunch or place to watch football. read more

Friendly staff. Food is pretty good. Only bummer is that the restroom is not in the restaurant and is kind of a far walk away. In all it's a pretty good place to eat on the south side. read more

We had lunch here and it was reallyyyyy good. I ordered the rice bowl with pulled pork. It honestly needs a better name because it was soo good. Lots of textures and flavors and seasons perfectly . Nice place for lunch lot of beers on tap. Will be back! read more

Owner I highly suggest you get a sign facing the street that says "Bar & Grill" I guarantee you that 3 of 4 tourists see your sign and think "is that a restaurant? Is it a snorkel shop? Is it a surf shop?" And just go somewhere else thats a sure thing. The 1/4 that think it might be a restraunt see the stairs and then half of them are going to think "is it worth walking all the way up there to find out if its a restraunt or if its even open?" I think you put the bar and grill sign up and your business explodes. Great menu, great food, great employees, great atmosphere. Just need people to know its up here. When i return next year and there is a sign up ill tell you it was me. read more

We've been wanting to check this place out, so we dropped by today and are glad we did! We had the Garden Nachos with the vegan coconut miso "cheese," and it was awesome! The salad was great, and the dressing was housemade and delicious. Our server Jenny accommodated our requests well and was very friendly and professional. We're glad there's another great place where we can hang out and chill and enjoy a nice environment, friendly staff, and awesome vegan food. read more

Friendly Waves - Awesome vegan nachos! - Burgers Near Me - Koloa, Hawaii

Came in for a snack after our ATV adventure and it filled the void. Nice server. Breezy day on the rooftop type location. Chicken nachos were a little lacking but good enough. I think they make their own cheese sauce because it had a gritty texture from the flour of the roux. All of the dishes going to other tables looked really good, so it could be worth a try. Just don't get the chicken nachos. read more

Spent the day traveling around the island and stopped to check out some shops and saw this place and needed food. From the moment we walked in the service was great from the host to the server. The food was top notch also. Will definitely tell people that come to the island to try and stop here for good food and cold beer. read more

We ordered several items. The pork belly was okay, too plain for our taste. The spicy orange wings were well cooked, but not spicy at all. The beef in our upland burger and dat burger was extremely salty, dry, and unpalatable; we couldn't not eat more than 2 bites because the meat did not taste right (not sure if spoiled or just frozen for too long). Those of us who ordered the beef burgers were left eating fries along with some of the chicken nachos and fresh catch burger that other members of our party ordered, as those were the only edible meals. The mai thai and mango cocktails were strong and not flavorful. We felt like we had to chase each sip of these drinks with some water. The canned drinks and beer on tap seem like the better options at this establishment. Our server was friendly and very attentive. We wish the food could have been as great as the service. read more

Spent time with my ohana. Stopped in for lunch. Staff was friendly and efficient . The ambiance was comfortable and relaxing. We were lucky the breeze was blowing. It's an open aired building and could be bad if the humidity is high. Got the best for last. FOOD unbelievably GREAT We ordered several different items and everything tasted different and delicious. I can't pinpoint my favorite dish because we all shared and every bite was different and awesome. Highly recommend this quaint, ONO restaurant. Btw prices aren't bad too. Ck it out you won't be sorry read more

Great location. The host and server were welcoming. Food was quick to come out and had good flavor (the sweet potato fries were great!). Our server told us about a pop-up event later in the day and recommended a small business owner to check out. So glad we did! We look forward to visiting again! read more

Friendly Waves - Burgers Near Me - Koloa, Hawaii

This place is becoming my go to spot on the south shore. The bar is super cool and the staff is super friendly.

This is the first time that the wife and I visit Kauai. I'm writing this review as we're finishing our meal. We landed about 2 hours ago and needed some food. After wandering around we decided to try Friendly Waves. OMG! I had the Upland burger and the wife had Da Philly sandwich. So delicious. And the service was above and beyond, they even got me a cup of coffee that was much needed since I didn't have my coffee before our trip. Thank you so much! We will definitely have to come back! read more

Great sports bar spot. Beautiful view on top. Multiple TVs to watch various sports. Food is simple but great. Definitely my new local fave.

Great food, amazing service, best meal on the island so far. Try da Philly, you won't be disappointed

Anyone who's been to Kaua'i knows that there are not a lot of dining options - simply because everything closes early and it's a small island. So when we stumbled upon this place while in Koloa, we had high expectations. Brand new, modern looking bar, with lots of TVs (if you want to watch sports), and great ambiance. Now, the not so great...that actual menu and food. Everything was super overpriced - more like Los Angeles bar prices!! An appetizer was over $20!! Yeah. Drinks were expensive too. And the food, lots of options and while we didn't try much, the one thing I did try, the pork belly buns...was not good. Way too salty and sugary. Unfortunate, but I can't speak to the other food so many the other stuff is better? Our server though was outstanding. The staff are great, but it is Hawaii and that is always the case a good people! read more

This place was great. Staff was super nice. I had a hebi fish sandwich and it was one of the better fish sandwiches ive ever had. Good beers on tap. Great bar and grill. 5/5 for sure. read more

Amazing creative food and even better staff. Every single staff person we saw was so friendly and inviting and greeted or said goodbye to every patron. The wings are amazing and the nachos are the best you'll have. Highly recommend. read more

The Buffalo chicken wings are sooooo good!! We ordered half a pound and ordered more. We had a lot of food and everything was yummy!! The wedge salad is really good, my husband and I shared it (it was a hefty portion, so you can totally share). My husband had the nachos and it was a huge portion, I had a cheeseburger and the meat was so juicy and flavorful. Also get a side of ranch, the ranch was so good!!! it was unlike any ranch I've had before. Mahalo for the good grub! read more

Very friendly staff, upbeat ambiance, delicious food, A+ across the board. A tender burger WITH a real salad... so amazing! Should have taken photos but it was too good to not jump right in. We will be back. read more

Great find! We stumbled on this new restaurant and really loved it. Samson, the manager, went out of his way to make us feel super welcome! Great cocktails! My husband and I both had burgers and they were awesome! Our friends had several appetizers and they also loved everything they ordered! They especially loved their margaritas! read more

Staff knowledgeable & friendly! Chef excellent! Looking forward to trying more ono food!!!

Great food! Great service. Nachos were fantastic. Burger and wedge salad were equally as good if not better.

Old fashioned was top notch Had chicken sandwich with green onion spread and rum bbq sauce on side. Bbq sauce is sweet, but I liked it! Sweet potato criss-cut fries were some of best sweet potato fries I've had. Crispy and tasty (sweet potato fries can be soft and mushy sometimes at other places I've had) Open air seating on second floor. Great atmosphere. Lots of TVs at bar to watch sports Service staff was very friendly and attentive! read more

A new sports bar with delicious food. They have the traditional sports bar fare but I opted for a side salad and shrimp. Probably the best salad I've ever had. Really nice greens (not iceberg lettuce) with tomatoes and marinated onions and delicious ranch. The staff are great and friendly too. Highly recommend! read more

On vacation from California after having been away from my favorite island since pre-COVID. I have Celiac disease so I have to have GF food options. I was ecstatic that Friendly Waves not only has great service and a wonderful ambiance; but, they also serve many GF options to include GF breaded and dedicated fryer for their wings/fries. Also, have GF buns for burger options. Way to go! Thank you. read more
