Finally got to try this new place in Kōloa. Upstairs overlooking Kōloa Road with a nice breeze through the open windows. We walked in at noon and sat at the bar. It's a pretty big bar (maybe 20 seats) for the size of the restaurant, with 6 tv screens on each side of the bar. Bartender was friendly and left us to look at the menu while we waited for our friend. Good selection of drafts so I tried a hazy. We all ordered sandwiches, hubby got a fish sandwich, I got the O.G. burger and cuzn ordered a custom burger with grilled onions. Our food was delivered by the manager, who checked on us again, as well as the bartender. Our food was excellent, great portions, nice handmade burgers and fresh French fries. The manager chatted with us and said they also own the downstairs space and hope to open a bar/lounge soon. I definitely recommend this restaurant, and hope they succeed in little Kōloa! read more

Server was nice, however service was horrible. Food was brought out for me and my oldest daughter. 30 minutes later and still no Ramen noodles for my wife and two other daughters. After an hour and half and eating some of their mediocre nachos, we left over to Ramen place next door, which was awesome. If I could give more stars I would! I have never had a business go above and beyond. I cannot tolerate gluten or soy and the kitchen staff here made every accommodation so I could have the poke nachos. They fried the chips specially so they did not have soy. I love this sports bar! Owner I highly suggest you get a sign facing the street that says "Bar & Grill" I guarantee you that 3 of 4 tourists see your sign and think "is that a restaurant? Is it a snorkel shop? Is it a surf shop?" And just go somewhere else thats a sure thing. The 1/4 that think it might be a restraunt see the stairs and then half of them are going to think "is it worth walking all the way up there to find out if its a restraunt or if its even open?" Came in for a snack after our ATV adventure and it filled the void. Nice server. Breezy day on the rooftop type location. Chicken nachos were a little lacking but good enough. I think they make their own cheese sauce because it had a gritty texture from the flour of the roux. All of the dishes going to other tables looked really good, so it could be worth a try. We ordered several items. The pork belly was okay, too plain for our taste. The spicy orange wings were well cooked, but not spicy at all. The beef in our upland burger and dat burger was extremely salty, dry, and unpalatable; we couldn't not eat more than 2 bites because the meat did not taste right (not sure if spoiled or just frozen for too long). Those of us who ordered the beef burgers were left eating fries along with some of the chicken nachos and fresh catch burger that other members of our party ordered, as those were the only edible meals. The mai thai and mango cocktails were strong and not flavorful. We felt like we had to chase each sip of these drinks with some water. The canned drinks and beer on tap seem like the better options at this establishment. Our server was friendly and very attentive. We wish the food could have been as great as the service. read more

Spent time with my ohana. Stopped in for lunch. Staff was friendly and efficient . The ambiance was comfortable and relaxing. We were lucky the breeze was blowing. It's an open aired building and could be bad if the humidity is high. Got the best for last. FOOD unbelievably GREAT We ordered several different items and everything tasted different and delicious. This is the first time that the wife and I visit Kauai. I'm writing this review as we're finishing our meal. We landed about 2 hours ago and needed some food. After wandering around we decided to try Friendly Waves. OMG! I had the Upland burger and the wife had Da Philly sandwich. So delicious. And the service was above and beyond, they even got me a cup of coffee that was much needed since I didn't have my coffee before our trip. Thank you so much! The Buffalo chicken wings are sooooo good!! We ordered half a pound and ordered more. We had a lot of food and everything was yummy!! The wedge salad is really good, my husband and I shared it (it was a hefty portion, so you can totally share). My husband had the nachos and it was a huge portion, I had a cheeseburger and the meat was so juicy and flavorful. So when we stumbled upon this place while in Koloa, we had high expectations. Brand new, modern looking bar, with lots of TVs (if you want to watch sports), and great ambiance. Now, the not so great...that actual menu and food. Everything was super overpriced - more like Los Angeles bar prices!! An appetizer was over $20!! Yeah. Drinks were expensive too. And the food, lots of options and while we didn't try much, the one thing I did try, the pork belly buns...was not good. Way too salty and sugary. Unfortunate, but I can't speak to the other food so many the other stuff is better? Our server though was outstanding.
