(Dined 04/26/26 SU @ 5:00pm): Some rum may be lit on fire at this Poipu Beach restaurant! I was excited about RumFire Poipu Beach at the Sheraton Kaua'i Resort Villas. Opened only Thursday-Sunday, they offered happy hour (5pm-6pm) and dinner (5pm-9pm). Experience the island's stunning sunsets and spectacular 180-degree coastline ocean views while enjoying modern Kaua'i dining. Sadly, they didn't deliver to your room. Would I be fired-up to order a rum-themed cocktail at this Poipu Beach restaurant!? However, Noel was my main bartender/server, and he simply was awesome. Everything was straightforward, he did a wonderful job quickly filling my orders, removing any empties, and telling stories - mahalo! PARKING (Varied; N/A this instance) I had no vehicle, so I simply walked from my room. However, there was a nightly $40.00 fee for guests if they parked on the property, and there might've been some free parking along the many nearby roads and streets. Make sure to carefully read any posted signs. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A clean modern spacious layout with plenty of dining tables that offered awesome views of the ocean, while the central rotund bar https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=120&select=yLPvmJMAy-YvONhej6PxaA was where I found myself. Plenty of natural lighting everywhere while numerous electric ceiling lights filled in the rest. There were several muted TVs all around the bar area while a wedding musician played in the background. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=120&select=EVqFna4AX9T2fX-ik3qTVw ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL From start to finish, everything was superb at RumFire Poipu Beach and would definitely return. I found complete value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $154.00 BEFORE any discounts, points usage, and/or tip). I used a different credit card for points purposes, but they accepted mine of choice... AMEX! 5.0 STARS

I was actually pretty surprised by this place! I ordered an entrée sampler of some sort that was shred by two people. We ordered 3 different types of fish and the short rib - the fish was remarkable. If I were to come here again, I would focus on the fish and maybe order the entrée sampler that allows you to order two different dishes because four was a lot for two people. Also, I really enjoyed our Brazilian server. He was attentive and gave great recommendations.

Beautiful views. You will need a reservation unless you're open to setting up the bar. Great bartenders Solid options Great happy hour.

A restaurant with a phenomenal views of ocean and sunsets. Initiated the evening with a lemon drop martini and a bourbon manhattan. Nice complement to guitar player/singer. The fried Brussels sprouts were an expected taste bud treat. Had a little sausage snuck in and just a great way to wake up the palate! The lamb chops with mashed and purple potatoes were very good. Chops perfectly done Potatoes a little cold. Butterfish totally underwhelming. Bok choy just not good and rice drenched in soy sauce An uneven meal in total. Great views. Great chops. Very good cocktails. Not good fish

This was the duo. On the left the fish on the right was the braised short rib.

Food was really delicious! My wife had the Lamb Chops! Cooked to the temperature we asked for! It came with pineapple barbecue sauce. For me I got a duo which was a option. Which I chose I got the butterfish and braised short rib. Both of them were fantastic. I would probably eat more of the short rib than the fish. But both had amazing flavors. The reason why they are not getting a five-star review. Is because it felt like a mix of atmospheres on one hand. The table was set up for a romantic style but then there was a bar with a TV and it gave it a sports bar feel. It was very loud on top of that it also had a live performer. She was amazing! But quite a bit going on.

Lamb and short rib duo

Great views . Be sure to ask for a table by the window to capture them. The restaurant is laid out in sort of a horseshoe with a huge bar occupying the center, tables surrounding. We arrived at 6 for the sunset. As a previous reviewer noted the better tables seemed to be held for the hotel customers. I made the reservation 90 days in advance specifying that we were celebrating a birthday . We did not have a card on the table wishing us a Happy Birthday. And other than the waiter asking us if we were going to order a bottle of champagne and a verbal wish for a happy birthday by the hostess who seated us and the waiter that was it. It was shocking as the other restaurants of that caliber had a card on the table, a verbal wish and a complimentary dessert. Some were elaborate like Hualines or Keloki"s Paradise and others at least presented chocolate truffles on a special plate. When we left I talked to waiter to say that their lack of acknowledgment of special occasions was appalling for a restaurant of that caliber. As far as ambiance goes the noise level the bar which occupied a goodly part of the room increased as the evening went on so basically we gave up trying to have a conversation. I found it odd that other tables had a container of nibbles like nuts and crackers with the recipe of how to make the seasoning attached. We were not given any. When I questioned the waiter as to why we did not have the complimentary mix he said "well some people don't like them".???? Shouldn't" we have been asked or presented with them as advertised? Odd. The only reason I gave this restaurant 4 stars was because of the views and the food was AMAZING! They have something called a duo where if you are having difficulty choosing between two items for a nominal fee ie $10 you can get two half portions. They are a goodly size, ample for 2. Or if your appetite or party is larger they have a quad. The lamb chops broke da mouth, seriously , and the short ribs were so tender that if you blew on them they would fall apart, flavorful, tender and moist. Loved the entrees. That is this restaurant's saving grace....the view and the entrees.

Baked Kauai for Two
Harry F.

I had dinner at RumFire Poipu Beach and overall had a great experience. I went with the quad entree flight, which came with the lamb shank, short rib, filet mignon, and miso butterfish. The butterfish was hands-down my favorite, with the filet a close second. The other two were fine, just not as memorable. I also tried the goat cheese fondue and would definitely recommend it. For dessert, the affogato was pretty basic, while the baked Kauai was very sweet but still enjoyable. The staff was attentive and friendly, and I appreciated being seated in a booth with an ocean view after requesting it. The live music and lively atmosphere added to the evening, and parking was easy with both valet and self-park options. It is expensive, and I'm not sure the full entree prices would feel worth it, but the duo and quad flights are a fantastic way for two people to try several dishes without going overboard. Overall I'd give it 4 stars--great service, atmosphere, and food variety, but the desserts and high prices keep it from being a 5.

Seafood pasta

We really enjoyed our dinner at Rumfire. The cocktails were good, we had a pink one and an orange one. It was watermelon and mango I think. The food was good, my husband had a seafood pasta, and I had the lamb chops both were cooked perfectly. Couldn't be the view and our waitress was really nice.

Beautiful watching the sunset at table 53! We loved how the proceeds of our table went to local charities. The food and service was also great. The sampler idea was a lot of fun since we were indecisive. Coming at 5:15pm was perfect for sunset! The Brussel sprouts were recommended but they weren't crispy like we expected them to be. Overall, a great dinner to end our night. We were very full, no room for dessert.

Located in the Sheraton Poipu . Valet parking is free or you can find street parking. Rumfire is located along the beachside. HUGE central bar with a decent selection of various spirits, whiskey pours are fairly priced. They also have a bourbon flight. Views are spectacular and the ambiance is compatible for couples and large parties. Benji at the bar is super friendly and attentive, check him out and tip well. Try the special seasoned popcorn.

So delicious! We booked for our anniversary and got a booth with ocean view, which was lovely. The meals starts with a fun basket of popcorn arare mix..and they include a keepsake recipe card. Love it! We ordered cocktails, a salad (the one with crab and it was so tasty!) and did the option to split 4 mains which is a great concept to be able to try more items. We got the crab crusted fish, the butterfish, the filet and the lamb. Everything was fantastic but the stars for us were the butterfish and the filet mignon! We closed the meal with coffee and an espresso martini for me, and the baked Kauai which was absolutely delicious! I highly recommend. We can't wait to go back!

Butterfish: signature dish. No way
Doug E.

I have so many complaints that I'm going to start with the good things. The cheesecake was delicious. So was an ahi panzanella appetizer. Complaints. I think the food was way too salty. I got the butterfish signature dish, according to the waiter. Meh. The fish was well prepared, but everything else was so so. The place is LOUD, and not helped with a live guitar player who can't sing on key. The setting is nice because you're on the water. But if this is one of the best restaurants in Kauai -- well, it just can't be. That's all I'm saying.

The Rum Fire Poipu Beach has all the trappings of being higher end of the dining range. The service was attentive and very helpful. The facility was nicely appointed and the views were quite good, see my pics. As you can see from my food pics, they excelled at their presentation. We started with their popcorn with furikake seasoning. As you can see it has plenty of salt, crunch and flavor - a perfect match with wine (see in the background). We then moved onto a respectable Ceviche Flight, see pic. This was quite good. We liked the variety and appropriate size for an evening of dining. It was all fresh and unique. We then shared the North Shore Salad. It was also super fresh and bright, see my pic. It was basic and straight-forward. We ended our meal with the Boneless Short Rib, see my pic. While it looked great and the braising jus was savory, it had more fat than meat. This was super disappointing. We also found the dining area was incredibly noisy, and not being consistent with finer dining.

I couldn't recall the whiskey used, but it was simplicity at its best! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=120&select=XzJ4aB5YUIxPOzVKJKaR6w Lilikoi Golden Ale Blonde Beer 5.0% ABV 16floz Draft ($7.00 HH): Hazy amber color, fruity tropical aroma, light body, fruity sweet tropical flavor, creamy smooth finish, and fruity sweet tropical aftertaste. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=120&select=5APA6Qzw7emqfQDaadHhIQ [ONION RINGS/STRAWS/STRINGS ALERT - 5.0 of 5.0 STARS] Onion Rings ($8.00 HH): A decent portion with rings of medium to large sizes, these were hot, dark golden browned, crunchy, and had a slight tendency to crumble when bitten into while the onion ring (sweet Maui!) rarely pulled out at times. They were lightly oily while the sweet chili dipping sauce wasn't needed but used. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=120&select=0YBus8D4RN8ssUjlFxf5WQ Credit Card Surcharge 3.0% ($2.43): More businesses did this to try and offset costs. SERVICE Warmly greeted by the hostess and women behind the bar, I made my way to a stool for a front row seat of the action (my second visit I sat at a nearby table). I was given a glass of water, menus, and then time to decide. I easily placed my orders as I hung around. I was always checked on, my water filled, and empties removed. It was all chill - mahalo! PARKING (Varied; N/A this instance): I took the bus, so this wasn't an issue for me. Otherwise, there appeared to be some onsite parking with spots along the main drag of Koloa Rd. and other side streets - 'nuff said. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A quaint sports and whiskey bar https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=144&select=eiwUAzd_sgmG96tMBgcfBg inside with an old-feel brick and wood combo https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=120&select=GK1gFqK6-KqkqBWgPDbpEg while a spacious covered outdoor patio kept things casual, there were plenty of places to sit. Plenty of natural lighting both inside and on the patio while an assortment of electric ceiling lights filled in the rest. There were several muted TVs throughout while classic rock & roll music played in the background. ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL I had an awesome time at Kaua'i Island Brewing Co. and would visit again. They had 12 beers on tap, the food was wonderful, the prices were a tad high, and the service was great. Unsure if furry family members were allowed. Daily happy hour specials and almost certain nightly entertainment such as trivia, music, and more was available. I found complete value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $87.00 BEFORE any discounts, points usage, and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 5.0 STARS

Service alone gives this place a top score. Our server Chris is what I would call a true salesmen…read more A genuinely good guy who is easy to talk to, can ease tensions and make you feel like ohana. Food is pretty good, with a SUPRSING Keiki Mac and Cheese that my God Daughter ordered, that I ended up eating most of because she fell asleep. This wasn't no Kraft blue box! I ordered the Calamari and it was delicious. Great appetizers. All the beers we ordered were great, and Chris will explain to you everything you need to know about them. If you're a sour guy, the Calamansi Sour was tops. Sooooooo amazing! To top it off...best Mai Tai's I've had... and yes, I'm taking into account the famous ones from this Island. Pizzas were good, on-par with decent pub pizza. My only reservation with this place is the nickel and diming of sauces etc. $1 for Tartar sauce and ranch to me sounds a bit nit-picky when you consider the sheer size of our bill. Loved that they kept the place going for us a little past closing. We immediately knew they were waiting for us when the music shut off for closing when we stepped outside. BTW, plenty of outdoor seating. Only a few seats inside. You may wait a bit if you want to stay inside. Will 10000% be back.
