We had a nice lunch. Open air with a decent view. Breakfast offerings weren't great. Lunch offerings were good. The chicken sandwich uses what I believe is thigh meat. This makes it look as if the meat isn't completely done and the meat is tougher than breast meat. The ramen noodle bowl was good but the noodles had the appearance of freeze dried noodles instead of fresh but the bowl was tasty and I'd order it again. Overall a nice place for lunch. read more

New shopping center is very clean and cute. Thankful for elevators the stairs are steep and many. The shopping center upstairs is chopped up too so make sure you want that place to eat on the correct side if you have trouble getting around and or are hangry! The restaurant was open concepts and clean with cool glass folding up windows, very modern. Only downside is bathroom is shopping center community style so you must exit restaurant to use the bathroom which I imagine high tourism times a busy line. The service was friendly and attentive. We ordered one of the St Patrick's Day specials and wait a loooong time for something we grew up eating which when cooks days ahead or all day so already made and tender and juicy. The food came and it was a deconstructed version of corned beef and cabbage. Immediately I said oh the meat sat under the Lamp too long you can see it was dry. We started to cut it and it was no joke like leather! A fat thick nice slice that perhaps was cut the wrong way. Meaning cut with the grain not against so it became very tough. It was over cooked and then it sat under a heat lamp and well, died a horrible death! It was salty which we liked but it had zero broth or juice just dry. The bartender asked how it was and I nodded trying to choke down a bite but I contemplated telling the truth as the two meals were $24 each and terrible! We ate out of hunger, price and time waited, as well as being not near home. We laughed and said we shoulda tried a burger?! Ugh maybe we'll be back. read more

We came here by chance after finding that the Kauai island Brewing company was closed due for staff shortage. You can actually see all of the customers eating on the second floor as the restaurant has open garage style windows. We were promptly seated and I have to say that our waitress was one of the sweetest and most efficient. She was super friendly and checked on us regularly with updates of when the food was ready and asked if our kids were enjoying their food. The other staff also worked well together refilling water and offering extra napkins. For the area the prices are very reasonable and portions are large. They also have an extensive kids menu which is nice for families. My little one enjoyed the ramen with shrimp and my oldest ate a hamburger off the adult menu. I had the nachos which was interesting due to the coconut cheese sauce but I was highly recommend the rice bowl instead. The adobo pork was tender with nice vinegar notes and a nicely fried sunny side egg. The accompany salad was fresh and very satisfying too. Overall I would highly recommend if staying in Poipu. Parking was easy too- the shopping center has its own adjacent parking lot with plenty of spaces. Kauai juice is downstairs too and our waitress said we can get a juice and drink it at the restaurant as well. They had their own alcoholic collab which is fabulous. read more

I live here on Kauai, I work in the industry. I have been in a few times and it's always been pretty slow service but food is great! However this last time coming in was a disappointment again with service. It was not busy. We were not greeted when we enter. We sat down and multiple employees have passed us without acknowledging us or making eye contact. We were sat at the bar and employees walked by and put their head down. Not a hello, not given a menu. Nothing. Made eye contact with 2 employees sitting down crossed the way and still nothing as they were snacking. We waited and still nothing so we got up and left. Bar was empty besides maybe 3 other people sitting while there was at least 6 employees sitting around doing nothing. Sad. Will try again next time read more

Came here a couple of times during our stay on Kauai. They had plenty of TV's with all sports available. Really enjoyed the welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff and delicious food. Highly recommend the wings - pops bbq and west side heat combo! Burgers are also delicious. Fresh beef and huge portions. Plus the beer is served ice cold. Top it off with an open-air, second floor location which puts you above the hustle of Koloa town, and looking out on the forest and surrounding mountains. Can't wait to come back! read more

while we were walking around, we stumbled upon friendly waves and decided to try it out. something i like about this place is that they don't charge extra for sweet potato fries (and the fact that it's an option in the first place). these were absolutely delicious and perfectly crisped. i also enjoyed the drinks we got. i thought their happy hour deals were okay; it's not that big of a discount but the drinks were a nice way to escape the heat. i didn't think food stood out too much, but i like that they have a few menu items that reflect the cuisine of the island. i like the open space of the restaurant. it was nice to feel the breeze while enjoying a meal. the atmosphere is chill and relaxed. when i ordered my burger, i asked for gravy on the side but the kitchen accidentally put it on the burger. i felt bad but i asked to send it back and i received the actual order not too long after which was nice read more

We visited at 1:00 pm and were seated quickly at a great table overlooking the small town. Water was brought over (with ice). We had a couple questions on the menu, and ordered a beer each. My husband and I decided to share the Carnitas nachos (pupos size). We thought it was awesome. Lots of meat and crispy chips. Toppings were tasty. Cold beer and great nachos. What could be better? We didn't get any pictures of the food. But I wanted to leave a quick review of this new, great place. We wanted a quick lunch before heading to the beach. We saw this place was new and drove over. The customer service was awesome. Quick, friendly and very attentive. They service very cold beers in frosted glasses - perfection. The food here was AWESOME. We had the OG burger, wings and the bleu cheese salad. Really, every single dish was some of the best we've ever had. Truly, this place was fantastic. First time here with my disabled mom. Used the elevator no problem and was met and led to our table by a very sweet and present host. The rest of the evening went very smoothly. I played a charity golf tournament a while back and Friendly Waves sponsored one of the holes, featuring sliders. Oh cousin, let me tell you my coworker and I fell in love with this slider. We thought about it for weeks after, we talked about it, dreaming of the day we could recapture the magic. The juiciness of the burger patty, the flavor of the sauce just took things to another level and even the bun brought more flavor to the party. I can confidently say that they do make a tasty burger and have a nice ambiance. I didn't try the fried chicken sandwich, but my coworker did at our recent visit and OMgod did it look fantastic. Normally I get real focused on burgers and really lose out on chicken sandwich opportunities, but seeing it the other day really has me questioning my strategy. 10/10 would return and venture into chicken sandwich territory. read more

A great ambience on this open aired upstairs pub right in the heart of Old Koloa. There is a great selection of beers and cocktails, and the food is amazing. It's basic pub food elevated to perfection. The wings come in a variety of tasty flavors, and their burgers are legit contenders for best on the island. The managers were training some new staff and of course I was eves dropping on the convos, I was extremely impressed with the advice and care they put into making sure the costumer was well taken care of. I overheard the staff talkiing amongst themselves about some of the food coming out of the kitchen and they were raving about how good it was and some of their favorites dishes, "adobo over everything with an egg on top." The order was taken wrong, the food was sloppy and not too good, and obviously service was heinous. We had a spell of 30 minutes without anyone checking in on us. Different experience than last year. While our waitress was efficient I don't think she smiled once. We once again order wings, half naked half breaded. I couldn't tell the difference as they were dry. Last time we had the sauce on the side and the waitress pointed out which one was which. This time we had no clue to which one we were eating as we didn't know which was on the wings and we ordered 3 different sauces. I split the garden salad with my daughter-in- law as we were both going to get the side salad. They charged a split charge. It would have been cheaper to order the side salads! Everything was delicious we weren't hungry so we didn't eat it all, but we started chatting with one of the employees.
