FOOD: I was served a chicken sandwich that was severely undercooked. Unfortunately, it took a few bites to get to the part that was **raw**. I'm 7 months pregnant so I haven't been eating anything that's not well done and had figured chicken was a safe bet to order since it should always be cooked to temperature. I've been sick since this happened, thankfully not severely, but it was disgusting and upsetting. Apart from the raw chicken I was served, we had potato skins which were fine. Crispy but a little light on toppings and dry. My husband had the mac and cheese and fried chicken which didn't really taste like much, not even cheese. SERVICE: Our waitress was nice and attentive as was the other FOH staff. The raw chicken incident was handled about as well as you can expect: it was taken off the bill and we were given a gift card. The manager came over to apologize and then asked how the rest of the food was. When I said it was bland he got defensive. Okay, if you don't want feedback, why are you asking for it? ATMOSPHERE: If you go, absolutely sit outside. The patio is lovely, more than you expect driving up to it. Inside feels like a pizza takeout place and is extremely loud. There is no fabric anywhere inside the place to dampen sound, not even curtains, the ceiling is a smooth surface, no dividers between tables, just tile everywhere. It's also too bright which adds to the pizza place feelAnd definitely not how I picture a 'tavern'. Also, when I asked for water I was given bottled water with a car dealership logo on it. Strike 3 for pizza place. I was really hoping to like this place since it's nice to have in Windham but given the above, we very likely will not be back. read more

This is a go to spot for my boyfriend and I. We love the apps - the potato skins and nachos are both go tos and are always amazing. For drinks, you can't go wrong with a beer on tap. Nothing beats sitting on the patio in the summer with a cold beer! We cannot stress enough that this place is so amazing because they have great food, but more importantly, their people are AMAZING. We got take out from here 1-2 a week during the pandemic and they were always happy, smiling and welcoming. Now that we can eat outside, we couldn't be happier with the service. The outdoor tent is a great touch and the tables have been adequately spaced out. The last few times we were in Lauren was our server and she is simply amazing. Always attentive and personable. Been here twice. The first time the food came out cold. Just didn't seem like anything was cooked fresh, just reheated. We complained to the manager and he apologized but offered nothing in terms of reducing the cost of the bill. Service was fine but they just didn't know what they were doing. Went a second time and was told there was an hour wait. Funny that there were tables open. We decided to go next door to Capri. Best choice. As we were eating our food next door, the family that checked in ahead of us was seated within 10 minutes. They must have turned at least 5 groups away. So far, so good... Red's Tavern is a hoppin, fairly new place to head to for a beer, a bite, the game... Homemade jalapeño poppers are topped with bacon, yes, everything is better with bacon !!! Potato skins are hearty and not some dried up old shoe... Homemade meatballs are fantastic especially atop the crunchy bread they are served on... They don't skimp on portion size so either go hungry or take home the leftovers... A good beer selection is a must in my mind and Red's does not disappoint... Now the low points: There's only single stall bathrooms which make for a line on busy weekend nights... It's a bit loud due to the fact that the ceilings are at about 8' high and are flat without anything to break up the sound. Gives it a bit of a basement feel... All in all I think Red's is one of the best new restaurants to open in the area in sometime and I think all should give it a try... read more

Would love to change the rating here but the service was terrible. Went in for dinner with my family and after putting my name in on their iPad hostess system, which the hostesses could barely figure out, we saw several people who just walked in get seated. Plenty of open tables. We were told we were waiting for a table you could put a high chair at, of which everyone else that got seated was at a low table that would've been fine. Couple that with disorganization up front and the manager or owner seemed as confused as the hostesses and it lead to us walking out. Food looked good, so I'd be willing to try them in a few months if they survive. read more

Can't say enough for the excellent service we always we receive. Tonight, in particular, New Year's Eve we stopped in, very crowded, stayed and waited for 2 seats at the bar. Sara was very attentive to us and pointed out when seats were available. While waiting we put our name in for a table. Emily went above and beyond to ask if we wanted to wait for the bar or take a table that became available. And the food was awesome as usual. Love it here and will continue to go back! read more

Pub Menu - Outside seating - Great Service This is a combination restaurant/bar that offers outside patio seating and inside a table seating area and bar seats in one large room. This was my first time there and will make a couple trip back as this was a good alternative to other local establishments in the area. FOOD: I would expect to get a fair price for the food that you order, with above average quality and on some dished average to below in quantity. I was a little disappointed in size of a side of fries that you would get for $4, but besides that the other items that were ordered were very tasty and good portions. Most of the other plates that I saw come out of the kitchen looked really appetizing. SERVICE: One of the biggest selling points was the service, which I would rate 8 out of 10. Very very good service. I did complain about the fries to see how they would react - they said (both server and manager) thanks for the feedback - they will discuss, but made no efforts to please me - no offer to give me more fries, coupon, etc, (both server and manager) Maybe the server and manager or not empowered to address customer's concerns? Not sure... but besides that, my server (Bridget?) was responsive, friendly, attentive and top notch. ATMOSPHERE: Brand new establishment, so everything smells new, clean and fresh. The outside patio is fantastic, with heaters, and the typical patio accompaniments. The inside seems very copacetic, probably as it was brand new - so not much character except the TV's on the wall. It could use some stuff on the walls. The bar was nice, but the bar seats where something that you would find in an function hall and the bar counter top was a neutral color laminate. They probable spent around $80 on the bar top. BATHROOMS: Brand new and clean, but if you should use your before you go to go here, as they are single bathrooms - 1 for each. On a Tuesday night at 930 pm I was 3rd in line to use the men's bathroom. I can't imagine the line on a Friday or Saturday night. SUMMARY: Good local place with good food, but they could of used a consultant to help create a more welcoming environment. They have seemed to have kept costs down during the development of this restaurant to minimize their risk in case it did not take off. But being as that I have done business with other companies that are owned by the same parent company that owns Red's, I am sure that they will make the necessary changes to become successful as they have done with their other companies. read more

Tried Reds Tavern for the 1st time the other night. The restaurant was very busy since they just opened. We wanted to sit out on the patio, it was a beautiful night so I am sure this is why. The wait was about 25 minutes so we ordered a drink at the bar from Amie B, who was so nice to us. We then sat on the comfy wicker chairs they have out on the patio. They don't have a buzzer system, so they ask for you cell number and will send you a text when your table is ready. I thought that was pretty cool with our generation. So we finally got our seats, a high top table on the patio with an umbrella. Very nice atmosphere with the rock wall surrounding the patio. At this point our waitress comes over to see how we are doing, greeted us and said welcome to Reds Tavern. Kristen T was our waitress for the evening. Kristen is so nice and caring for her customers, as I watched her with her others. So now we ordered the jalapeño stuffed with a mayonnaise sauce and wrapped in bacon. 6 for $8. And on a Huge rectangle plate. They were very thin and really looked to small for the plate they had it on. It gives the impression of almost charging too much like I was at a Bistro. We then ordered our meals, I had the Apple Bacon Burger, cooked good but the burger buns were too dry. Almost wanted to pour water on the bun to make it a little moist. Also, my girlfriend had the smothered jerk chicken salad. She liked that the dressing is homemade here and is Vadalia dressing. Another thing was the lighting outside when the sun went down. Very dark and hard to see your food. Definitely need more lighting. Also, this was our ticket times for our meal. Ordered dinner at 8:30, 8:55 food came out. 25 minute ticket times is a little too long for me. John, the manager was nice and always checking the table to see how everyone service was. Red's is not bad, but not great either. We (my husband myself and our daughter) walked in told to pick anywhere to sit. We were not given any menus or even acknowledged that we were there for at least 5 minutes. We sat on the patio, under an umbrella on a sunny day. Which we were told we had to close because it was bending... Our server asked us if we knew what we wanted to drink... Without giving us any drink menus! The menus we did get were oversized and next to impossible to put on the tiny tables. Food came out relatively quickly. My daughter ordered grilled chicken w/fries. The chicken was dropping in some kind of grease, for $6 she got 4 very small chicken tenders. Because she didn't order soda with her kids meal we were charged extra for lemonade! Who gives free soda to kids?!? My husband and I order the sea food plate (at $18)... It was was very over priced for the 2 pieces of shrimp, 3 scallops and a very small peace of haddock! Our server had no idea what sides or veggies of the day were! We picked fries and coleslaw. The fries were good. The coleslaw was very dry and lacked any flavor. I went there couple weeks ago on a Friday night and sat at the mostly empty bar. Bartender came almost right away to take our drink order and asked if we wanted to see the food menu, we said yes. A few min later she came back, took our drink order and then got our drinks pretty quickly. I wish I can tell you how the food was but none of the three bartenders ever came back to ask if we wanted anything to eat. They all seemed ultra focused on their other tasks, they forgot about customer service. Eventually one of them came by after they saw our drinks were empty but by that time my blood was boiling so we paid and left. I really want to like this place and will most likely will try it again in a few months, hope they have most the bugs ironed out. read more

This place was good! A friend and fellow windham resident told the wife and I to check the place out. We got some drinks (I got kelsen battle axe, the wife got a gimlet and some other muddled cocktail ) and then we got some apps (stuffed jalapeños not fried or breaded and fresh, truffle oil french fries) both were awesome. She got for food, steak salad which was good and they don't just give you some crappy steak tips, they ask you how you want it cooked so she got it rare like she wanted! I got the porterhouse pork chop. Wicked good. Reasonable prices, good beer and good service. Can't complain! We sat outside and it was nice. Very quiet for being right off the Main drag. read more

Red's is a good option for a town like Windham without a large assortment of restaurants overall, much less a place to grab a late night drink or food. It's really only here or The Common Man. Despite the fact they could easily settle and probably do well, Red's has a great level of experience and professionalism for a restaurant that's fairly new. The waitstaff and bartenders are friendly and quick and it's clean inside. There is a large outdoor patio in the summer months as well, something lacking elsewhere in Windham. The large number of TV's also make this a good place to watch a game. As far the the good stuff, you're not going to go wrong with the muffuletta here. It's served on thick bread and stuffed full of good Italian meats. The meatball sandwich with home made meatballs is a huge size of quality food, as are their burgers, a favorite being the Windham burger with avocado and arugula. There's many bar specials on apps and drinks, so check out their website. In all the prices are around what you'd pay at other places like an Uno's or Chili's, but the food is far better. Two drawbacks are the majority of tables here have high back chairs and may not be the best place for kids or physically handicapped people. It's also very, very loud inside when busy, so if the patio is open that's you better choice. An all around average place that is well needed in the town. read more

Since Covid, my family and I have been coming to Reds almost daily. We love the atmosphere and the drinks are excellent. The appetizers are great and the entrees are good as well but it may take a few trips to find the dish for you. They have done an excellent job providing plenty of seating during these times with a parking lot tent. Although they should have some music in tent. The wait staff is excellent, quick and kind. Although, there is one manager Chris that is absolutely miserable every time we are there. Constantly reminding you of time limits, pushing you out the door and heckling larger parties to stay distant while none of the tables are 6 ft apart anyway. He makes our family not want to come back. As a manager in the restaurant industry you would think he would know to be more friendly, especially working at friendly reds! Clearly no knowledge of how to act in his position. Sorry reds but one bad apple can spoil the bunch. You just lost this family of 5 and about 700$ a week! Thanks for nothing Grumpy Chris! read more

Been back several more times over the summer. I especially like their outdoor patio. On a sunny Saturday or Sunday afternoon, sitting at a umbrella-covered hightop, watching the game on an outdoor TV, having a couple of cocktails and sharing an appetizer or having an early dinner with a companion is a great way to relax. I've also been there several times during the week at night sitting at an inside table. It's not loud although it can get busy. The food is still great. For a restaurant at this price-range, I'm very impressed with what they're doing. Red's is in my regular rotation now. read more

I would like to give 3.5 stars but will go with 4. Was in town for a kids game and a local recommended Red's. First impression from the hostess not great. Just lack of energy and friendliness. Amy was our server, by far the best part of our experience. She had great recommendations and we went with the Chix part sandwich, Burger, and mac and cheese with buff chix. Potato skins to start. Skins: too much potato, burnt bacon, no chives just bacon and cheese and no seasoning. The extra potato in the skin and no seasoning made it bland and had to salt it. Other wise it was a fresh potato and was served with sour cream. Burger: Not much to say...nailed it. Awesome burger, soft bun that is just the right size, fresh lettuce and tomato. Fries: Hand cut, fried just right...NO seasoning. Really? Not even salted. Salting fries at the table is not the same as salting them fresh form the fryer while hot and wet. Chix parm sand: Absolutely awesome. $11 and worth more. Would go back just to get this again. Side of cole slaw: Fresh cut veg, nice and crispy......no seasoning at all. Super bland. Celery seed, celery salt, regular salt, pepper.....something. Again I had to season at the table. Could easily be a home run and it's a bunt at best. Mac and cheese with buff chix: Awesome, fresh mac and cheese, crispy chix, seemingly out of the bottle buff sauce but still good. Wrap up...Amy was awesome, a real pro. Food was great but certain things need to leave the kitchen seasoned. I understand some cooks think they will let the patron season to how they like it. Wrong, send it out tasting good, if they want more salt then they can add more but for the love of god season it. No military discount. Not needed and would not stop me from returning, just noting. Talk to Amy and she said they have asked the manager before and he will ask the owner. Long story short..absentee owner I would guess. Hard to keep a small place like this going if management does not have a stake in the business and the owner is not around. Will go back to try again. read more

Every time they army of 14 year olds that work there open the door to the kitchen you can see how filthy it is, waited a hour hour for one entree... completely ridiculous. We've going there regularly since they opened. Went there last month and were seated inside. There was no social distancing what so ever. We were so close to the next table that our chairs were back to back. People at the bar were elbow to elbow. It's no wonder they had to close for five days due to COVID!!! read more

Great little place! Menu is awesome and really diverse and different. Love the pretzels with warm cheese sauce as an appetizer! Bartender mentioned that nothing is frozen and that they don't have a microwave, so it's too quality. It's a tad bit pricey, but I don't mind paying for quality. My only knock on the place is that it's very small, too busy, and completely filled with locals. Therefore it's a bit uncomfortable if you're not a local. It's more of a bar room feel than a restaurant feel. read more

I have been to this restaurant numerous times and decided to have breakfast there this morning. Food has always been OK, not great, but they are near me and I wanted to see them get through these covid times. This is not a covid safe restaurant and I will not be back. I watched a waitress clear glasses from a table and then seat a party at it without wiping it down or sanitizing anything. Even before covid, they should be wiping down tables between patrons. They don't ask people to wear masks entering/exiting the restaurant and, when I asked about it, management replies "are we done?". People should be able to patronize restaurants without getting sick. If that is your goal, I wouldn't go to this place. They aren't taking this virus seriously. I can only imagine what is going in the kitchen if this is how they act in front of patrons. read more

Poor attention from server, about 8 min just to get drinks after we ordered them and it was not busy. (2 waters, 2 milks). Waitresses enjoyed chatting with one another in the corner for a few minutes several times, not attending to customers. She seemed annoyed to be there, to be working, to serve. Did not make us feel welcome at all, not one smile. When had to ask for missed item she seemed annoyed. I ordered One of the specials, lettuce wraps, it Was $16 for bib lettuce (small pieces about the size of a woman's palm or smaller, about 6 oz of grilled chicken, dry colored carrots, and a mixed raw veggie slaw sort of, didn't have any mayo. Came with a small handful of veggies so I asked for more. Note annoyed waitress. Asked for more bib lettuce and she came back and said that the manager was going to charge me more for the extra lettuce because "it was expensive". This was a $16 dollar meal... It wasn't salmon, it was chicken! I had made 2 wraps with the lettuce provided and hadn't even used the half Of the chicken. I told her I'd be happy to speak with the manager and she said she was just the messenger and not to worry about it. Also the "wasabi" dressing was completely flavorless. Not a $16 meal by any means and poor overall service. Won't be back. To be honest, would have been a better review if the service had been better. Her negative energy made the whole experience worse. Dined there last night for the first time with the wife and daughter. Staff was very friendly and on top of their game. The draft beer was probably the coldest I've ever had. The bacon cheddar burger was excellent. My wife and daughter said lit the tavern burger and enjoyed it. Got the sampler platter. My wife loved the crab cake and the potato she be and check chicken fingers were very good. This would be a 5-star review except that the fries were very bland. My three friends took me here for my birthday lunch and loved that we were able to sit out side on such a great day. The menu seems to hit a lot of pub food fare and with a good beer selection I figured we couldn't go wrong. I wasn't too hungry and I ended up splitting an appetizer with one friend, the Steak and Cheese eggrolls. I was very disappointed in the browned 80% at best hamburger with several large pieces of fat I had to spit into my napkin. We didn't even finish the 1 app between us and when I mentioned the meat, which is touted as beef tenderloin (no it was not) she didn't say anything. I figured they might take it off the bill but that was just silly thinking on my part. I had a beer and one friend had a Sangria $10! the total bill was $66 for 1 app, 1 burger, 1 veggie burger, 1 beer and 1 sangria and 2 sodas. I think they are a bit over priced for greasy pub food. I was excited and thinking I'd be taking my husband there some evening but I'll pass. As we were leaving one of my friends pointed out 4 oil splatter stains from the drippy hamburger meat from the Steak &Cheese Eggroll on my favorite shirt. I tried washing my shirt as soon as I got home and pretreated it, to no avail the 4 greasy stains are still there. So add another $20 for a shirt to my experience at Friendly Red's Tavern read more

Really enjoyed this place and will be back. Met up with a few friends for apps and beers. I know its hard to mess that up too terribly. That said, they had the beers I liked, the apps were just right and well priced. Great atmosphere on the patio with the big screen to watch the sox game too. This was our second time here and it was disappointing again. This time the blond waitress was complaining near the station by the front door about how she was not going to make anymore coffee for people today. Patrons shouldn't have to listen to negativity when spending their hard earned dollars coming out after Covid. The first time here there was no silverware and the milk for coffee came in a shot glass which allowed for milk to be spilled on the table before we used the large soup spoon given for the coffee. The tables aren't set up for customers to sit and eat and maybe their focus is on dinner and drinks instead of breakfast. The serving sizes are small and the staff is loud and sit on chairs so you have to ask them across the room if you need something. We've given this place two breakfast visits over two months and the indifference to breakfast diners is clear. I'll find a good place down the road instead of the poor service provided. read more

I want to start out by saying that generally the food is good. This night was no different .... the food was good. We had a party of 5 and sat indoors at a bar table. The server also makes the drinks. We started out with a round of drinks. The waiter / bartender came over to check on us and the 3 ladies in the party all asked for another round. The bar tender came back with an additional beer for me that I didn't order. I was the DD. I drank it because we were getting dinner and the beer was not high alcohol content. The ladies all asked for another drink and the bartender once again brought over another beer for me. I told him I didn't order the second beer and I don't want the third. One of the ladies said she would drink it. The ladies mixed drinks were so strong two of them were so drunk they wound up getting sick in the car on the drive home. I'm all for giving a good strong drink but the drinks they ordered were doubles which means they had 4 strong drinks in an hour. The third round was over the top. The bartender knew how strong the drinks were and had no idea the ladies weren't driving. The third beer was was left untouched. Be careful if you there to drink the bartenders push drinks to run up the tab with no concern for you safety. read more

I've been here a handful of times. First time I got the Mac and cheese, second time was a sandwich that was super awesome. This time I got the double stacked tomato salad. There was about 10 pieces of arugula didn't even fill my plate. I mixed it and it looked like I already ate more then half, and I was honestly super disappointed. I left there hungry. It was good. But not worth leaving hungry.... my mom got sweet potato fries. We both did last time. And they maybe gave her 15. They were overflowing our plates last time. They didn't toast her bun as they did previously. Wasn't completely satisfied as in the past. The food was still good. Just the amount wasn't worth the money. read more
