Where to begin; while the service was average, the quality of our meals was simply unacceptable. The best meal at the table was described as "it's not great but it's food", while another member of our party ordered a simple cheese burger. Sounds easy enough to make, but after bringing it out we realized it was incorrect and sent it back. What came back was the same exact burger with the cheese and sauce scraped off. Upon further inspection we also realized there was mold on the bottom of the bun. I would NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone. Came here after a Walleye Game because it was one of the only places near the Huntington Center that didn't have loud music and still serving food. While the restaurant was clean, and had a nice "vibe." The service left a lot to be desired. Our waitress didn't greet us promptly, and then forgot about us when we were ready to place our order. Once the order was placed, she let our food sit at the window for several minutes before bring it, and when we did receive it, the food was cold. My order was wrong... Not that we could do anything about it, the waitress didn't bother to check back with us. We had to ask for a refill, and apparently this waitress didn't realize that an empty glass meant we needed a refill. When we were done, she tried to take a plate that we were still working on, and asked "I'm assuming you just want the check?" After my friend asked for a refill of her Pepsi, the waitress brought back a Diet Pepsi instead. When my friend asked about the error, she said "well I'm sure I poured a regular Pepsi. Seriously one of the best wing spots! We tried the perrysburg location last week but I had a better experience here as far as wings. For some reason the wings here were just more crispier. So far i would still go with the sweet chili Service I would say is quicker here, but that's just from one experience. If I could give zero stars I would. The food was absolutely terrible! We sat at the bar and ordered some food and drinks. Drinks were great but when the food came out it was a whole other ball park. My husband ordered nachos which from my end didn't look great and he said that it tasted bad. I got a blue cheese burger which tasted like theme park food to say the least and I also ordered fries and it tasted like it came from a bag at the store. When I don't feel like fighting the crowds at the Maumee location, I come to the Frickers in Downtown Toledo. It's great because of its location, it is attached to Fifth Third Field, offering some of the best views of the game if you are fortunate enough to get the window seat. I have been there many times, usually uneventful and a meal with friends as usual. But there was one particular visit that left a bitter taste in my mouth. Everybody knows 25 cent wing Tuesdays if they know Frickers. Its an eat in special. Unlike the Maumee location, when you don't finish your wings, you may not take the wings out of the restaurant after you paid for them. But since it was our first time there, we didn't know that this was there policy. So we asked the waitress for a box, she brings small boxes. It didn't finish the wings or rest of our food, so we asked for bigger boxes. She snapped back with "Well I would give you bigger boxes, but I know you will try to put the wings in them." That made me burn since I didn't know there policy and instead of explaining it to us, she made me feel like I tried to murder someone. So we say look at each other confused and say, "Well, yeah, that's what we wanted it for." And she snapped back with "its an eat in special only." Usually when you visit a restaurant, dine-in only means you have to sit and eat at the restaurant or else you don't get the special. Well we did sit, but they had another idea. So my friend said, "oh well, might as well put it in the small box instead of throw it away, I would like to eat it later." The waitress ran to get her manager, and thank goodness, because he handled business. He made sure that we paid full price for the wings if we were to take it out of the restaurant. So my friend, though she thought that it was weird that she couldn't take the wings that they were going to throw away and put it in the foam box that she has already, gave them her charge card so that she would be charged full price, so that we could take our leftovers for later. So she signs, and proceeds to get up with the rest of us to leave. She grabs the small box with the chicken, but the manager flips. Though he was there to enforce their rules, charge us full price, but he wanted to make sure that we still didn't take any wings. So he didn't let us leave until he counted ten wings on our plates to be returned to the kitchen. My friend had enough, she reminded him that she just paid full price for them, she wanted to enjoy them at home later and it was already in a box for her to take home. She didn't say it politely so he boiled back "It is an eat in special only, we can't give you boxes to take them out because at 25 cents we don't make any money." Did he forget we paid full price? Did he forget that we didn't have the eat in special? Did he realize that we didn't need additional boxes, we already had some anyway? So we stand there staring at him mad/upset/shocked and he finally pulls out his cell phone and says, "You know what? Officer (forget the name) is standing right outside and he has no problem dealing with all of you!" So the box of chicken wings were placed quietly on the table, we walked away humiliated that this happened in front of other guests, over chicken wings. Other guests must have complained or pulled one over them, and their boiling point was reached with us. I've been there since, just never again asked for a box. I learned my lesson, but I think that they went overboard. We weren't trying to pull one over their eyes, we were just trying to take our chicken home for later. So I recommend everyone go to Maumee location instead. read more

I'll try to be brief as this place is not worthy of too many words. Went here with some friends for the 1st time this past Saturday evening. We were told to have a seat wherever we wished. The place was about 25% occupied. Waited for 15 minutes for a server to appear. Didn't happen. Finally went up to the bar to order some drinks and the bartender looked at me like I was from Mars and asked why I was ordering directly from the bar. That's when I asked if they had tableside service and, if yes, would you please send a server over. Server finally appeared and took our drink order. House special, premium margaritas that were neither premium nor special. But, what do you want for $2.50? Ordered some fries, onion straws and two different types of wings. All of it was completely forgettable but we were starved and polished it off. Asked for our check, paid the bill and left - never to return. We went over to White Castle and ordered some burgers, fries and clam strips to go. While WC is not exactly a James Beard experience, it was infinitely better than the garbage we were served at Fricker's. At Fricker's, the service, drinks and food were deplorable. And the patrons in attendance made the place look like the bar scene from the original Star Wars movie. This place obviously survives because of it's proximity to 5th 3rd Field. The major problem with Frickers is their sauce. They have really nice size wings and you can even get flappers too, but their sauce is mediocre at best. So here is what I do. I order the wings naked and add my BWs sauce when I get home. I have thought about taking a little bit with me to the restaurant, but so far I haven't done that yet. I am not sure it would go over very well there. I also feel that most of their food is a little overpriced for the quality of the food unless you go on one of their special nights like $.40 wings tuesday, or $5 chunks on Thursday. But even chicken chunks for $5 is borderline too expensive in my opinion for what you get. Their beer special of $2.22 is a little random, but a pretty good price for the size of beer that you get. The service has always been good when I have been there and the window seats during a mudhens game are real nice. It is one of the few places downtown where the kitchen stays open late, so if you need something to eat after drinking downtown, it is a nice place to stop by. If they could just improve their wings sauce, I would would be a huge fan of this place, but until then it is just ok on one of their special deal nights or during a mudhens game. read more

I had heard a lot about this place while living in Florida. Ate here a few times on visits. I was never all that impressed, but SWMBO liked the boneless chicken chunks, so I could find something so she could have them. Been to one in Defiance, been to the one on Reynolds a handful of time and to this downtown local probably 6 times. Living downtown, we are looking for places with good food. I gotta tell ya, this ain't one. I have never eaten anything that impressed me here, and lately the experience has been deteriorating. I will say we have always had pleasant servers. Tori today was a dream, especially when dealing with a rare occurrence of my wife returning something. First thing is our result of ordering for our daughter. Can you believe that the kids menu does not include a burger and fries? Chicken chunks, cheese quesadilla, hot dog, mini corndogs and chicken strips. No burger? When we asked, Tori said no, but she could just get a regular burger. She pointed to it on the menu. A 1/3 pound burger. Way too big for a 4 year-old. Molly doesn't finish a 2 oz kids meal burger. What irks me a little is the fact that they have sliders on the menu. You're telling me you couldn't make a kids meal with one slider on it? Makes NO sense. And while we're on the subject of sliders, let me mention the disappointing visit to Reynolds Road the trip before this. They have this new special they call the "Three For All'. I think it's 2 sliders, boneless chicken chunks and fries. You pick the sliders. But... heaven forbid you would want to pick two DIFFERENT sliders.Oh no! We can not do that! SERIOUSLY? The aforementioned Beef and Bird or a 1-pound porterhouse with or without shrimp. No way Jackie is ordering a 16oz hunk of red meat. She also said she wasn't hungry enough for the beef and wings. I told her to order and just take the wings home for a light dinner in the next few days. I'm sorry I did that. She ordered medium and got hammered. No red or pink in that sorry sliver of cow. She tried eating it anyway and it was like chewing a piece of salty, cheap gum. i still had to practically beg her to return it. What she got back looked better, but was still on the high side of mid-well. She tried, but could only eat about two bites. it was still chewy and weirdly seasoned. She ate the wings. Now my food was not any better. I order Mississippi BBQ Nachos. Advertised as "Traditional Southern Pulled Pork served with our Signature BBQ sauce and melted cheese on nacho chips." My first mistake? I had forgotten I didn't care for their pulled pork, but that was not the only problem. Being next to the ball field, we established a theme with this dish: About 4 ounces of pulled pork with not much sauce (pretty dry in fact) - strike one. Maybe two ounces of melted cheese (not much cheese for nachos) - strike two. A heaping plate (way too many for the toppings, so bare and dry) of house fried nacho chips. Problem/ other than the obvious? They appeared to be whole wheat chips because of the dark color. Messed up as that WOULD have been, it was much worse. They had been fried in oil that was a good day beyond the point that it should have been changed. Very greasy, nasty, burnt flavor. umpire? STEEEEEEEEE-Rike Three! I haven't been here for a couple years, but I sometimes pay a visit if I see a Toledo Mudhens game... these reviews are about right with what I remember. This is my favorite local Fricker's location because of its proximity to 5/3 Field. The service is good and there's some nice views inside that allow you to enjoy a live Mud Hens game. As far as sports bars go, its got location, beer and wings. They excell on the first two. Wings are nothing to brag to friends about. The service is good, but the wait staff is not very personable. Most sports bars have an atmosphere that draws you in. Other Frickers I've been too have that. This location falls short on the "hang out with us cuz we are a happening cool place to be" factor. They rely too much on their location next to the field to make up for their short commings inside. My recommendations: Bubble up the staff, try smiling, little accent lighting goes a long way and add some flavor to the wings. read more

Well, it's Frickers. If you've grown up around Toledo you pretty much know exactly what you're getting when you go here. This review is specific to the downtown location. Parking is crappy. It's always loud even when there aren't a lot of people in there. Cleanliness is mediocre. The food is kind of blech. DON'T order a burger. They are obviously frozen patties and are cooked to a hockey puck style. The buns are paper thin and the lettuce is shredded. It was not a good experience. I really want to like the curly fries and mini corn dogs. (Normally two of my favorite fried foods.) However, they never cook them long enough. The fries have no crisp to them and the mini corn dogs have kind of mushy batter under the surface. I've had them more than once with the same result each time. The chicken chunks aren't horrible but they definitely aren't the best in town. There are two reasons it's getting two stars instead of one. The service has always been friendly and prompt. On my last visit this past weekend I accidentally left my cell phone on the table and had to rush back in for it. The manager ( I assume he was) was very nice and I retrieved my phone with no trouble. Also, our waitress was very upbeat and helpful that night. The other reason it gets two stars is that the drinks are reasonably priced. Question for downtown Frickers: Why is it that you have so much random sports crap on the walls but not a lot of Mud Hens stuff? Wouldn't you want to market yourself a little differently and try to utilize the benefit of being adjacent to the Mud Hens stadium? This baffles me. read more

The tables were sticky and it was dimly lit. I looked over the menu and asked a few questions and decided on the grilled chicken wrap with medium sauce on the side and a side of ranch. My husband chose the Mississippi BBQ Wrap with kicker side sauce. My daughter ordered the cheese quesadilla. My wrap was OK. The chicken in it was dry and the medium sauce was not good at all. We all have different tastes and my tastes did not like that sauce. My daughters cheese quesadilla was just that. A cheese quesadilla. And it cost 3.99 and did not include a drink. Really??? My husbands BBQ wrap was the best out of all the meals. He liked it. I didn't. But we both agreed the side kicker sauce was different. We did not care for it either. It had a vinegar taste to it. Positives: - Downtown Toledo is a great location for a place like this - The wings are really tasty - Beer specials are reasonable compared to other downtown bars Negatives: - Service here plain stinks. It's pretty clear the management doesn't care that the waitresses are stuck up and rude. - The food is really overpriced and fairly generic. The big problem with Frickers in general is the company's refusal to provide nutritional information for their food. You can contact them and ask for it but they will plainly tell you that they are unwilling to share that information. That tells me one of a few things: Either they want to hide what's in their food as if people knew what they were eating they'd likely not eat it, they do not stand behind what they serve, they think they know best and should make decisions about what their customers eat for the customers, they are so profit-driven that they don't want to spend money to get the food professionally tested, or they think so lowly of their customers that they cannot waste their time with giving them this information. Whatever the reason, flat out refusing to provide this data makes the company look SO shady.
