Since I don't have a Fresh Thyme super close, this one is close enough to stop by when I'm in the area. I don't know if it was they day I went or what, but I couldn't find a few of the things I was looking for. I found out that the store didn't carry them. I was actually a little surprised, as I had found similar items at othe Fresh Thyme locations. Staff stocking shelves were very helpful and friendly, but checkout was a different story. The vegetables are very fresh! Displayed flawlessly. The self service coffee bar has so many varieties of beans! Store is clean and staff are very friendly. The soap bar is amazing! You really cannot find it anywhere else! The Coho Salmon was only $6 per pound! Awesome deal. VERY underrated grocery here in the Midwest! Would definitely recommend. read more

If I could give one start I would. The people helping with the self checkouts are too busy gabbing with coworkers to come over and help, and they dress in everyday clothes so you don't even know they are the ones supposed to help you. Add onto that that the gal didn't finish the approval I had to wait for 4mins while the gal was chatting, then another 3mins while she helped another person and wandered off again. I was just in the store. I went to get flax seed oil. It wasn't where it used to be so I walked around the store to find help. I found a guy in the produce area, and asked him. He pointed to the front corner and said to go there. I told him I went to where it usually is and it was not there. He said yeah...we moved it, but it's up there, you just have to look. I asked if he could show me and he said to find someone up there.I went back and looked with no luck. I found a nice young gal and asked her and she said, " yes! It's over here. " and she took me to where they are. It was about six feet away from where the guy was that I originally asked! AND HE COULDN'T TAKE ME THERE! I get to the cash register and that guy didn't greet me or say thank you when he finished ring me up. What is happening in with that store??? read more

My wife and I are huge fans of Fresh Thyme Market. They have an excellent selection of organic fruits and vegetables and a decent amount of organic meats. Their staff are friendly and helpful (although, a lot of the shelve stockers don't speak English so it can be interesting trying to get their help to find things) and they regularly run bogo specials and discounts on items you actually want to buy. read more

Is it normal to take produce off the sales floor for overnight storage, presumably in a cooler, two hours before closing? Is it also normal to put the night blankets on the produce that stays on the sales floor at night, onions and potatoes, two hours before closing? WTF?!! Why not just close the whole store at 7:PM, despite the 9:PM posting? It was irritating enough when the store started emptying the produce area around 8:15-8:30. But now 7:00PM? Prices are great, good selection, store is clean, and the checkers are usually friendly. However, lines are always long, no matter the time of day. I have found that the produce is pretty bad, it always goes bad right away. Note that, if you shop bulk, not everything in bulk is cheaper than their packaged generic brand of the same thing. Overall, it's good for some stuff, it just is definitely not a one-stop shop, and not good for fresh produce. read more

I am surprised about the negative reviews of Fresh Thyme. I have shopped there many times, and 'tho the check-out lines were very long at times, I have had good experiences! Regarding checking out....I'm not keen on self-check-outs (I usually am buying LOTS of stuff (especially fruit & veggies), so I often desire a cashier. And one has been available when I've asked for one. I LOVE their produce, and have never had any problems with its quality or freshness. On the occasions where I have questions (ex. location of a product, the Deli Dept., the Meat Counter), workers have been very helpful. I also like the smaller size of the store...SO much easier to shop & find items. Overall, I am very fond of Fresh Thyme. I realize they have had some "bumps in the road", but it appears to me they work on these. read more

I've always had good experiences with this store in general, people are friendly and food is stocked decently. So happy they got self check outs! The long lines and slow check outs are no longer a problem. Produce is usually good and the store is clean and I like the layout. I love that they have a lot of gluten free options. My only issue with this specific store is they keep old price tags up and if you don't look closely at the dates they came be old and the prices outdated. Then if you want to get your price updated they will usually honor the lower price but it can be a pain to flag someone down to help. read more

I returned to Fresh Thyme, Apple Valley, this morning (after another hiatus of over three months) to purchase one item that I buy there. This was, once again, my horrible experience: 1. The item was out of stock. The employee that I was able to locate to inquire about the inventory had her mask on her chin. Seriously? She proceeded to tell me that the department manager would be ordering the product on Tuesday but she had no idea when they would have it in stock. Is this helpful to a customer in any way? 2. As I walked out of the store- empty handed- I couldn't help but notice the check out line was 20 deep with only two lanes open. 3. I ordered the product online once I got home from another store. My client and I went into a health food store today called Fresh Thyme. They are located in Apple Valley, Minnesota. My client used her EBT card and after everything was all wrung up, it showed that there were several items that didn't accept the EBT card. The items were: jellybeans, tuna salad, soda and seafood items. The store manager voided everything out and rang each bag of groceries singly, to see what food item wasn't being accepted. In the end of this embarrassing and frustrating time, my client still had to pay out of her pocket for items that should have been covered under SNAP. Update your system otherwise, you will lose customers! read more

I finally got to this place after the hype went down! I'm not sure why I'm not feeling the excitement. It was just ok- still prefer Target! The food is average and for the wait time, it actually gets more expensive as my time is money. Employees are all young kids with every 2 seconds I hear "f" this and "f" that! I literally felt like I was shopping in a low class shop! Customer service was also poor and no knowledge when asked about certain items. Food: I bought dried fruit that was good but cashews were stale. For $10 a pack of supposedly fresh cashews, they are anything but fresh tasting. I did however like the sushi in the deli department. Management needs to hire qualified people with morals and that are respectful to customers! I will not be returning- sad to say! read more

So... I'm giving this place 4 stars because of the potential. However, this place was so busy tonight and the line was so long (literally wrapped around the dry goods section) that we left without buying anything. But I am assuming it is just the excitement of a new grocery store in town. So here is what I can tell you... The seafood and fresh fish selection was quite impressive. The salad bar looked nice. A very nice gluten-free assortment. The produce looked beautiful. Hoping that the next time we come in, the traffic will be a bit more reasonable and we will enjoy our experience, and won't walk away empty-handed. read more

Very disappointed in Fresh Thyme raising their prices. The first one i noticed was the packaged fresh stir fry vegetables, in the now much smaller container, for the same price or a bit higher. The second one I noticed was the large slice of Tiramisu Cake that was $6.99 is now $12.99!!! WOW I used to get this on a monthly basis but now, I can no longer afford it. Thank you Fresh Thyme for helping me get the motivation to get started on a healthy diet that eliminates ALL SUGAR!!! WHO KNEW I COULD COUNT ON YOU TO HELP ME OUT! Since you feel the need to jack up your prices, I will rethink where I will be buying my organic produce, etc. Oh, and while I am at it. your fresh meat counter may look good, but everything we have tried, like your sausages, etc., have no flavor. Majority of my produce shopping is dependent on the ads here! They have amazing deals for veggies and fruits that doesn't compare anywhere even Aldi where on most occasions everything is in expensive. Everything is fresh and the displays are great! Keep in mind that I only shop at fresh thyme for produce, meat that's on sale otherwise the prices can get up there and they don't offer all brands. The other reviews are true majority of the staff are younger but I've never had a issue. I've never tried the deli but I know they offer fresh baked sandwiches, pizza and even sushi all under $10 read more

This store is horrible. This evening, the clerk made an error in giving me the proper change due. When I pointed this out, the clerk ( young, arrogant boy) insisted that I was given money I clearly had not received. The store manager weighed all the money in the cash register, only to mumble a weak apology and give me the proper change. On other previous trips, there were long delays in checking out due to the need to for the clerk to contact the manager for everything (range check, return, etc). I am just shocked at this poor customer service and do not recommend that anyone shop at this store. read more

I find they have really great quality produce and if you shop the sales you can get better deals than at aldi. It's a great store if you are looking for all natural organic healthy options. Plus it's way more affordable in comparison to whole foods! They have a very large fresh produce section with weekly sales and sometimes you can find produce there that you can't find easily at other stores. I go there in the summer to buy champagne mangos! The only other pace I can ever find them is the asain market, which is much farther to drive! The bulk section is also great and again has items you won't find at other grocery stores! Plus they do have a small freezer section and they carry other items like healthy oils, salsa, vitamins, etc. I don't do all my grocery shopping there, but for what I buy it's worth it! read more

This is one of my go to grocery shopping spots. Great customer service offered here. Prices aren't too bad. I decided to visit after seeing an add for produce specials and I was very happy that it was all fresh and had a very appealing appearance. Mpls University Ave Management needs mental health counseling! trying to compliment an employee but mgr would not come to see a customer. Tried a supervisor(Dawn)whereI left the store to find her in their liquor store...rude, dismissive and when I told her that she needed to appreciate this employee so as not to lose her, she did a side eye face and responded with very unprofessional denial of the reputation of this store. Leaving as I saw Frank (mgr) ( I the customer spending 20 minutes to find any mgmt) and experienced defensive denial in response to expressing that this excellent employee was rare. He was unhinged and when I reminded him that this is not personal but a customer giving feedback, he lost it and was loudly saying that it is personal as he sacrifices for this store (pretty sure this is not in the handbook for customer service from mgmt). These folks are 1) incapable of recognizing a compliment to an employee 2) treat customers like their recalcitrant teens at home 3)have ghastly customer service skills 4) seem so unbalanced that I am thinking they are on work leave from the local psych hospital. Except for this excellent employee, Hard to find items they are out of frequently and rarely if ever shop here as it is a flaming dumpster fire of an experience. Reputation as a rude, unhelpful, incompetent staffed store is confirmed but now add mgmt is toxic, angry and damaged. read more

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience. I'm a huge proponent of "buying local" whenever I can, so I avoid chain establishments when I have a local option first (I consider Target local :). The store has a lovely environment and is navigable in short time. I've had a great experience with the staff's helpfulness and courtesy. I'm dismayed to read the so-so reviews as the price point is great for quality food. I love that Fresh Thyme is so convenient. It beats a Target or Cub run any day! I've encountered nothing but nice staff here; one time even being chased down to the parking lot with the purchases I made and had left behind. Last night was no different at check-out where, Jake, my checker was as friendly as all get out. It was very refreshing at the end of the day. You will find many unique off-brand things here. They do a good job catering to the organic, gluten free needs. I don't always find what I want here, and supplement at other stores. However, many of their deals on fresh meat, fruit and veggies, cheese, and bulk goods tend to be awesome! E.g., the block of cheese I got for a $1.30, and a watermelon for $2.99! Not to mention I think they have one of the nicer produce selections in town. I don't think they take pride in their produce. Yesterday was so disappointing I could tell another shopper was feeling the same way. They lots of great sale prices every week, but their shelf prices are on the high side. Friends report poor quality produce at other Fresh Thyme locations, but I don't find that here, the produce is generally first rate. Ironically the only sub-standard produce I've ever found here was from the local Pahl's Market. Hy-vee also tried to carry some items from Pahl's Market and it was equally bad so I don't blame Fresh Thyme, for trying to have local produce. My BIG problem with this store is with packaged fresh meat. They don't trim very well and put the fatty side down in the package so you can't see that. So buyer beware!! read more

I would normally give 5 stars, but yesterday, really was not a good day in the deli department! The lady was slicing the ham I wanted and blew on it and looked up and looked at me and said that was not ok! I looked at her and said no, you blew on the ham! She said she would fix it, I said forget it, I walked away, why in the world would she do that! I asked for the manager and talked to him about it and he didnt even apologize, he looked stuned! I really wanted to believe in this place and support their business, but I just can't anymore. There are several things that Fresh Thyme does right: competitive pricing on organic products and a wide selection of produce as well as organic and gluten free groceries and supplements. However, the negative experiences outweigh the positives. My partner worked for Fresh Thyme (AV location) and they were terrible to their employees! Underpaid, not trained, and under staffed. Also, while they have a lot of produce offerings, the quality is not great. Often enough, I see produce on the shelf that is bruised and even has furry mold on it. Yuck! The breaking point was when I bought a whole fryer and bacon from the meat department, and both items were expired. The gross thing was, the bacon was expired by over a month! Advice to Fresh Thyme? Invest in your employees and train them to run a successful grocery store. Maybe other Fresh Thymes are better... but I will no longer shop at the AV location. read more

This has some of the best deals around town! I couldn't believe how cheap the produce was especially considering that the store has a pricy health food store vibe. They have $5 sushi Thursday (fresh crunchy sushi!) and double bargain Wednesday which means all the deals from the previous week and the deals from the next week both are present on Wednesday. I used to love coming here until recently. Some of the cashiers are very very rude and kind of racist, specifically the older women and really young teenage girls. I've seen the difference in treatment when they address white people compared to other races. I don't know what their problem is but I have seen it on a number of occasions including busy hours and non busy. I'm going back to cub foods, it's not worth it. read more
