TOP quality FRUITS and vegetables -- bananas especially tasty and last almost a full week BIG daily restocked selection of nice green generous sized fruit. LOVE love SUMO ORANGES - - my most favorite of all fruit. We lived last 5 years in Florida ( moved back to MN in January) and had incredible fruit / became enamored especially with the deep especially juicy rich flavor of the Sumo orange. There's nothing like them. Now can't eat other oranges- - nothing compares, highly addictive! Amazing with bananas and sweet pineapple cut up and eaten with 4 % milk fat cottage cheese with a generous teaspoon of mayo on top of the cottage cheese. Amazing! Fresh fruit and fresh veggies provide our bodies with the VERY best nutrients and vitamins of all other food groups. Steaming not boiling veggies also preserve the highest level of vitamins. ( Dad was a Prof of Biochemistry at a med school.). We are basically what we eat. Fresh meat fresh chicken fresh seafood cooked at home are the most nutritious way of eating . Vitamin A found in the greatest level in fresh apricots and beet green tops helps fight and prevent cancer. Lunds is a gorgeous store but way way too expensive for me. Target is a great option for super low prices but stock/ variety are VERY limited and fruits veggies are extremely limited/ manhandled a lot by customers. Flavor is lacking in potatoes yams and in a lot of Targets fruit which is picked when green. Target runs after the cheapest resource. Their quality is not great. Then CLEANLINESS is essential to me. HyVee aces this. I love the WIDE spacious aisles, the extremely high ceilings and non glaring softer lighting. Thus you have a calmer more relaxed ambiance - - rare today in grocery stores. I come EVERY week here. Their daily sales on beef chicken and pork in special cases, some seasoned thus ready to cook, are excellent FRESH QUALITY! GREAT SALE PRICES too. Their homemade giant variety of FRESH BRATS are pure heaven - - cheddar and original are my FAVORITES! Their " drug store". I haven't been to this location since last year, something must have changed with management. They didn't bag our groceries, there were carts in the isles with no one even stocking shelves, deli guy acted like he had better things to do than help me. With less than 24 hours' notice, Kayla made the most beautiful cupcakes for us. This is solely a review on the Thursday night steak dinners! Every Thursday during the summer, the Oakdale Hy-Vee grills up steaks outside and does an awesome job at it. The guys work hard at making sure the line of people lined up goes fast and tonight was no exception. For only $10.00! you get a steak, a side of green beans, and choice of either baked potato or hash brown casserole. Is it the best steak ever? No. Is it a hell of a steak deal for $10?? Absolutely. Add one for $1.00 each are onion and/or mushrooms. On occasion they have a delish dessert. I missed the banana cream pie by one customer ahead of me , but hey-there's always next week! Wow!!! I have always enjoyed the yummy muffins and cookies from Hy-Vee bakery. Well now I have to share my wonderful experience of ordering a cupcake cake for a baby shower. I was in the store last Thursday to order a cupcake cake for a baby shower on Sunday. The young woman that helped/guided me through the process was knowledgeable, patient and wonderful. I told her my idea of what I was looking for. She took that into consideration and added her great ideas. I was so comfortable leaving the store because she assured me that the cake would work. Today I returned to the store and was soooo elated with the cake. It was just what I wanted. The baby shower honoree and guests were very impressed with the appearance of the cake as well. Yes, hyvee prices are higher than nearby competitors (this is my main draw back and why I'm rating the store only four stars). However, the store has a much wider selection. Take for example today when I needed a small salmon fillet. I checked at an unspecified nearby grocery store with considerably lower prices, but was unable to find what I needed. Any other day I would have found an alternative to save me the trip to another store, but with a wild adolescent weasel roaming my basement, I was not willing to risk it. Thankfully Hyvee had exactly what I needed-4oz salmon fillets are sold at their seafood counter! (fingers crossed the salmon works. Otherwise I'll need to find another way to lure out the vermin) One things for sure, next time I have to get bait for a wild animal in my house, I'll save myself the time and go to hyvee right away! read more

Darby Martin harassed my little sister in the store while she purchased her items. She sat cussing at her telling her to get her shit and get the fuck out the store. while my sister waited for her food Darby kept walking past my sister and telling her she needs to hurry my sister told her she was just eating her stuff and Darby proceeded to say she doesn't care. at that point I chimed in and told Darby that she is talking to a minor and she does not need to be speaking to any children with profanity. Darby ignored what I had to say so I asked Darby for her name she smirked and started taking pictures of us in which my little sister told her I do not give you permission to record me and I do not appreciate the way you are speaking to me. At that point I stepped in and asked for the corporate number in which Darby gave us an invalid phone number which was to a customer care line for gift cards and NOT corporate like I asked for originally. After that I found the real number online. She was rude and unprofessional and should not be working customer service the way she was speaking to a child. The Oakdale Hy-Vee goes back to five stars for me. This is my third review of the location. I started with five stars, dropped to four because of a cut back in products, cluttered aisles and general disorganization not the standard of Hy-Vee. This recent visit shows all the problems cleared up and we'll just call the last visit a bad day(s) or missing employees etc. All the headaches of running a business. The hard rolls were back as well as everything else I couldn't find before. The aisles cleared of cluttered, (it's kind of depressing to walk through a store and see a rack of DVDs with mostly failed movies from the last thirty years). I live pretty far from this market, but go there for their Simple Fix classes! I sign up through Eventbrite, go to the classroom by the deli area. Our dietician (Jena) has all the ingredients for our prep-your-meals ready to assemble. So while I'm here for the class, I also have to shop and eat-either in the extended deli area or at the Marketplace Grille (see separate yelp on the Grille). I like the deli area-I haven't been disappointed yet. Yesterday I got the 12 Oz sirloin steak meal to go for $12 (well $16 since I bought the extra mushrooms & red velvet cake add one). It wasn't Manny's, but a nice grilled marinated steak. The grocery section is different from the Cub Foods across the street-but that's what makes it work. Brand new location. I love the presentation of this place. Everything is so clean and spacious. I love how nice everything looks and you feel like youre in a high class grocery store with alot of things. Very impressed with their individual bathroom rooms and presentation of everything here. He said they could but he needed to find someone to help me. The female chef helped me and was a bit stand offish. First she said i had to pay first at the pay station. It gave me the impression that she felt like i couldny pay for the food i was ordering. But i walked all the way down to the pay station tobpay. When i got back my brother had ordered a steak from the same chef. She made his steak right away before telling him to go pay. Though she didnt smile and haf a grim look on her face i wasa little upset. She then said she would bring us our food. I relaxed and thought thats not bad maybe its too early in the morning. I was at the rest room when my crab came arrived but trust me it was not a crab cake worth waiting for. The outside was burnt and there was nothing to enhance the taste. No lemon. No sauce. Nothing. I asked if anything was offered since my brother got a cup of sauce with his steak. Nope. I will say though the ladies at the pay station were very pleasant with a lovely smileon their face. Called their pharmacy dept on 11/22/21 at 1:55PM CST to get some estimates on 4 immunizations. Given that I am self-insured, I needed quotes to compare with other pharmacies in order to get the lowest out-of-pocket costs. Woman answering the phone at the pharmacy was very curt and seemed rushed to assist me. She gave me quotes but wouldn't give me the quotes for GoodRX (said I needed to come in so she could put me in the system in order to get this info). If you are ordering for a major event (such as your WEDDING DAY) do NOT order from Hyvee Oakdale Bakery!!! On my wedding day my father picked up my cake at the time I agreed on with Oakdale Hyvee, paid for a two tier cake and sheet cake, only to discover they only gave him one tier and a sheet cake. One tier. One tier for my two tier cake. I called them to ask where my second tier was, they were incredibly rude and argued with me that they had no idea and they don't keep order slips or receipts of any kind so they couldn't prove that's what I ordered. Previously, I spoke with the Oakdale bakery dept. on two separate occasions over the phone, both times confirming there were to be TWO tiers for my TWO tiered cake. What kind of business doesn't keep order receipts? That is the dumbest excuse I've ever heard. At one point she argued that I must have ordered from a different store. She must have either thought I was the most gullible person alive or she was a complete moron, because how in the world would we have been able to pay for and pick up an order with our name on it from Oakdale if I had called the wrong store? Not the brightest over there. She continued to argue and raise her voice with me that she needed ME to provide her with the order slip (over the phone still, I was getting ready for my ceremony). Tell me, Hyvee, how exactly is it a customer's problem that you don't keep a store copy of your order slips? My dad brought the receipt home that clearly said he had paid for two tiers and a sheet cake. If we had access to it, surely your employees could put their heads together and figure it out too. Within 15 minutes I got a call back that they were finishing my second tier and would drop it off shortly. Someone must have found the order slip after all. Imagine that! No one ever apologized or took responsibility for it, they truly did not care how they spoke to me or treated me. I have used their aisles online pickup service three times. The first time went well. The second time, they texted me that my order was ready, so when I went to pick it up, it was not ready. 40 minutes later, without much explanation at all, I was finally given my order. Now, I sit here in line waiting for my third order. It has been 25 minutes so far. It took 20 minutes for them to come out to the car and greet me, even though I called twice to say I was here. Once I was greeted, they asked for my last name. They came back five minutes later and then asked for my first name. I am not optimistic that I will be out of here anytime soon. I kinda love this place. Its location is not very convenient for me, so sometimes I just make an excuse to go there. It is a large grocery store to the point that the word "ambitious" is appropriate. It's like someone challenged them to have thought of everything. They have a lot of really tempting options at their bakery, deli, and their other food counters; enough to really set them apart from other big markets. They also have a nice sit-down restaurant (Market Grille; I think there's a separate Yelp entry). Not the biggest produce section in town, but they do take visible pride in its quality. They have a huge and awesome bulk section which I always nerd out over. Bulk candy and nuts and snack mixes and even baking goods like grains and spices and oils. It's super convenient and more high quality than I typically expect from supermarket bulk offerings. You can order groceries online for delivery, and order takeout from Market Grille online as well. They have a gas station, and they even have an electric vehicle charging station. Their international foods section is definitely authentic; I can attest at least to the legitimacy of some of the British items which are the real thing, and which you won't get at a regular grocery store in the US. I have been coming to HyVee since the first day they opened in Oakdale and Other than my CSA and Butcher, I don't go anywhere else for groceries. I love the bakery and cheese/deli area. There are tons of different cheeses and the staff is so knowledgeable and able to assist you with recommendations on what types of cheese to get for different dishes you are cooking. Staff is very friendly and easy to talk to. If they don't carry an item you want, just let them know and they will get it for you! I wish their produce section was bigger and hope to see them continue to expand the organic and locally grown options (including produce, dairy and meat). I really want to see more local meat options from nearby farms for beef, pork and chicken. I'm hoping they also expand their cultural food options and continue to grow that area. The restaurant is great. Love the Bloody Mary bar for Sunday brunch and the all you can eat Crab legs. Best night is Sushi night though. Favorite appetizer is the maple syrup wontons! I've also tried the take out Chinese food in the store and like the noodles, many of the entrees and egg rolls. The Liquor store is great for tastings as well as the craft beer selection. Same thing here: if they don't have something just let them know and they will see if they can get it. Love, love, LOVE that you can earn so much in gas points. I remember years ago when this site was a dumpy old mall, owned by a fellow out of California who refused to spend a dime on it. Thankfully with pressure from Oakdale, it was sold and developed into the gem it is today, Hy-Vee. I appreciate how from the friendliness of the staff to the cleanliness of the entire store, Hy-Vee has really paid attention to the details. The vegetable section is well laid out, and has a decent selection of organics. There is a huge selection of pre-made take out food, many made fresh to order, from a salad bar to a sandwich shop to italian and asian options. The bakery is large and impressive, giving free tastes of their artisan breads and freshly slicing the loafs custom to your desired thickness. The cheese and cured meats section is huge and dangerous to a meat and cheese lover. Try the double smoked bacon; Nuf said! You can find most of what you want here. The only thing that I haven't been able to find here was Jerk sauce, which although is kind of specialty, I thought they would at least have one variety. One request that I would have for Hy-Vee is to participate in the Fair Food Program, which is essentially a domestic version of the Fair Trade program that so many of us are familiar with for coffee growers. They do source many ingredients locally, but for those that they aren't able to or aren't in season for our region, making sure that those workers who are putting in countless hours so that we can still have a fresh tomato in February would be the cherry on top for me. It is crammed in a messy, junk yard looking way and just stressful to shop there. In the beginning and maybe through the first year, maybe 2 after opening, this store was the "it" place. It has gone downhill tremendously fast and it is sad to see. You barely see the same faces there and that's very sad too. Something is terribly broken here and now I'm back at Cub (a lot) and that says something because I REALLY don't like Cub! Looking at the parking lot of Hyvee and Cub, you can see more cars are going over to Cub than before. You used to see barely any cars over at Cub and now, it's about half at each store. I'm kind of obsessed with HyVee. I've use them for catering (great options, check out the online menu), when I don't feel like cooking (million options in the deli area) or kind of feel like cooking but not putting a menu together (the cooking kits (between produce and bulk) are delicious and easy). It's the perfect cross between a Cub and a Lunds or Kowalski's. I can save on the things I don't need to buy high-end, but I can still get the better quality for items on which I do splurge. This location is super clean, and the employees always seem super duper happy while sharing their vast knowledge as well. THIS IS FOR THE Hy-Vee #2 3700 Broadway St. Quincy, IL 62301 store #1534 I am very disappointed with your pharmacy and the unprofessional, not to mention bias and undereducated staff you hire for it. I have filed several complaints as well as spoken to a fair amount of customer service reps so that whoever oversees this particular store can address this behavior. I have been a customer of this pharmacy for more than two years now and it never ceases to amaze me how they can make the same mistake EVERY SINGLE MONTH! Your "assistant pharmacist" Glenda, I spoke with today has an issue doing her job to the standard any customer you do or might service would deserve. I am absolutely LIVID that I have had to remind these people that just because I take medication for mental illness does not mean I am mentally challenged. The certified/ licensed staff are rude and terribly judgemental of patients taking certain medications. I am exasperated for lack of a better word. I am so sick of calling to check on monthly medications and be given the run around because your staff is either too lazy, too illiterate, or disorganized, maybe all three. I don't know. What I do know is that this self-righteous attitude needs to be adjusted as soon as possible. How hard is it to not lose at least one of the scripts my doctor calls in for refill every single month the refill gets called in? I can be reasonable and quite understanding when these mishaps happen on accident, however, when it's the normal way this pharmacy conducts themselves, it gets old and bothersome very quickly. I will be calling the pharmacy board and reporting this activity because this is ridiculous. I shouldn't be bracing myself to not explode every time I call to check up on scripts monthly. My doctor's office has advised me to file a police report next time this happens because my medications are classified as controlled medications and this has been documented to be happening month after month after month... it is obviously clear that this same exact mistake is no accident when it's happening 22 out of 24 months. I honestly could not tell you the last time there WASN'T an issue. This is so far past ridiculous and I am positive that I am not the only person getting this attitude. If the medications getting lost were insulin or any other maintenance kind of pharmaceutical such as for heart problems or even seizure medications that patients take to, I don't know, STAY ALIVE... If this was my father and he had complications after your supposedly professional staff gave attitude when it's time to refill, trust and believe I would spend money I do not even have yet to hold the entire store liable, it would be both neglectful and unethical. Bottom line, the staff at this Hy-vee pharmacy, in particular, is extremely lazy, callous, judgemental, disorganized, DISHONEST along with a desperate need for education/training on both what is expected of an employee working in a healthcare/medical setting from pharmacist to cashier along with some serious customer service training on how to treat a patient/customer. I am quite sure Hy-Vee does not need reminding that the pharmacy and grocery store are two SEPARATE entities. There is a huge difference in how a patient is treated and several laws to reinforce this exact issue. A customer shopping for groceries most likely won't need the precise care and manner that a patient using the pharmacy may require. However, a patient using both the pharmacy and grocery shopping does deserve the same customer service. This isn't happening at this store. I very much hope that attention is paid to these things before an incident causes accountability for the entire store when the pharmacy staff is responsible for being flippant, presumptuous, and impertinent. read more

Ordering a specific cake there for my kids twice and what do I get? 1st is not putting in my order when I went there a few days ahead of time. The one who put my order in just used a notepad and of course my order wasn't there when I got there to pick it up. So they told me to pick a random cake on the shelves and they will try their best for it. Second when I order another cake, I'd made sure that they wrote down my order and what I want. So when I got there to pick it up, sure enough, they couldn't find my order for the second time and they told me it was for the next following day! Very unorganized! I love how they have so many varieties on the cake orders but let me tell you this, I wouldn't go back there again to order anymore cake for my kids.
