Upon a fine morn, I did venture forth with but a single purpose: to procure one grape--nay, not just any grape, but one most crisp and crunchy, like unto the first frost-kissed fruit of autumn's glory. Lost amidst the aisles of abundance, my spirit did begin to waver. Yet lo! There appeared a gallant youth, clad in the humble vestments of service--his name, as sung by the angels (or perhaps his nametag), was Zachary. With a smile bright as the morning sun and cheer as boundless as a spring meadow, this noble fellow did not mock my quest, strange though it was. Nay, he embraced it with mirth and honor, guiding me with great care through vineyard and produce till the chosen orb was found. This place has such a great selection of produce and fruits. They have a section in the front for gifts and decorating things that would make the perfect gift for Christmas. I also love that they have a smoothie and juice store in there because it makes it super convenient. The bakery section is always filled with beautiful cakes, pies tarts and so much more. Staff here are always helpful and kind. I know I can find organic produce and also Hispanic cooking items I usually use for recipes. read more

The store hosted the trick or treat party (annual event). The store is packed with many cute creatures. The store staff gave healthy snacks to kids along the pumpkin pathway. The Seafood display was decorated with Halloween spirit, very creative and lovely! read more

I love Kowalski's! This is my favorite store and some say the Kowalski family's too. Kowalski's has something different than any other grocery store. It feels more like an outing where you can linger and explore your favorite items. When I went most recently they leveled up the experience even more. A couple times each month the store puts on a celebration of sorts and gives out samples of various goodies you can find there. All of the samples are delicious combinations of their merchandise. Today they had ribs out front which were unbelievable. The gentlemen checking us out were my favorite duo. Zach and Gabe are the best. read more

Excelsior market. I picked up a cake from the bakery, Got home & when serving discovered it was not the cake that I bought(or was labeled on the package). I called the store the following Monday, spoke with bakery, that conversation went O.K. at best and they were going to send a GC to compensate for the issue. Later in eth week I got a call from Kim in bookkeeping with Kowalskis. Kim was very polite and sincere following up and explaining that this is not the standard of Kowalski's. Again, very kind, polite and sincere. It is the extra steps like this that can turn around a situation and keep customers coming back. Kowalski's --- you are fortunate to have an employee like Kim. Biggest store that I've visited from this brand to date. Easy to navigate. Parking lot has plenty of space (Hard to believe there are traffic jams in it) Fashion/retail space takes up a chunk of space. You'll find more unique brands on top of your typical ones in these isles. My interactions with staff were minimal. Fairly nice and willing to help. You can get a lot in one location from this stop. I have been going to the Kowalski's a lot lately and I love their fresh bread selection, produce and soup selections. We usually get a fresh rotisserie chicken too but know they are $10. Honestly everything here is pretty spendy, I have for sure walked out with a bundle of apples, soup, a chicken and some bread and have spent $60. Overall, their food is better quality and we don't mind spending the extra money to get something that is going to last and be good. As for covid measures the staff is all wearing masks and/or face shields. I'm not to keen on the just face shield thing but that seems to be common at every grocery store I've gone to that they have a choice and at least it's something. read more

So glad to see they have moved into the area. The layout is just like the newly remodeled one on Grand. The customer service at check out was lovely as was the deli experience. Even better that they happened to be carrying the antipasto salad. I know they swap out the salads, but I lucked out today. Love the layout and the quality of auick pick me how with the salad bar, soup bar, olive bar, deli to go. Great place to pick up some food and head to the beach. read more

Last Sunday morning before lunch I stopped by with my wife to get a bite to eat at this store in Shoreview. I was hungry for a hearty meal, so I decided to make my own pasta with Chef Michael so I ordered a penne pesto with the ingredients of my choice. Michael prepared the pasta, with the ingredients and the pesto sauce of course. OMG! I honestly have had pesto pasta before but this penne pasta was EXCELLENT! I can only compare it with one of the best Italian pesto pasta in Cinquaterre, Italy. I was so pleased and I will come back when I'm craving for a good pasta. Please keep up the good work. Not really impressed by Kowalski's options. Their customer service needs to improve. I swear that the kids they hire do not have any emotion and stare with deadpan expression; almost robotic like in nature. Maybe it's the new cultural generation of being an introvert with no social interaction skills nowadays? Wow this place looks so amazing compared to the rainbow foods that it used to be. The building sat vacant for a while after all the rainbow foods went away. This Kowalskis takes it up another notch compared to their other stores. I've noticed that there are new or locations like the one in Excelsior are a lot more fancy compared to the old ones. The staff was so helpful and pleasant. From the cheese lady to the man behind the counter in the meat department. As I was looking at which ribeye just select to go with my crab legs I had previously purchased the nice butcher cracked jokes and had a friendly smile. He was very knowledgeable and his department. The checkout staff was amazingly friendly as well. I normally frequent the white bear location and haven't experienced this much friendly customer service ever at that location. At this location you feel as if the staff genuinely cares about helping you and you are not a burden. They haven't even taken their sushi counter up a whole new level. Ordered our thanksgiving dinner from Kowalskis this year. It was very easy to order online. I got to choose my pickup time. All was packaged well and the directions were excellent. As the hostess for the day I was able to enjoy my guests and not worry if my turkey would be dry or my gravy lumpy. Every item was tasty and fresh. It was worth every penny we paid for it. read more

So disappointed in Kowalski's in general lately. Their bakery has gotten terrible! I'm not sure who's in charge of baking, but the flavor is off on almost everything. Donuts, croissants and breads are super dry! Banana bread doesn't even taste the same either. Seven layer bars are very thin now too. Before, they were thick and loaded. The Shoreview location in general is lacking in customer service. Deli and meat counters close at different times throughout the week - basically when they want to - so you never know what's going to be open. We arrived at 7:30 one night and Meat Dept was shut down. Deli was getting ready to. The Akashi beef was SO tough and dry as well. It's supposed to be a prime cut, but not even close even when rested before/after and cooked to med rare. The management also seems less customer service driven and less friendly. We'll be taking a break for a while. Really, really disappointed. So much money wasted. read more

Shoreview Kowalski's produce dept. is not the best. I've had bad heads of lettuce - bad romaine hearts (with no dating) - bad apples and old red and yellow peppers. With the prices they charge, I would expect better quality control. very disappointed in that area of the store read more

I drove in from St. Paul even though I have one in my neighborhood. The main pros and they are huge. The parking lot. The staff, lots of them and super helpful and friendly. A place for eating upstairs, even though I don't do stairs. The smaller carts are wider. They fit in a lot more.The cons. Prices are to the max, you have to hunt for sale items, and on opening day I was expecting more. They are the only grocery store that carries my beloved Sweet Leaf iced teas all the time and always have plenty of the half and half lemonade tea in stock. However it was the same price as the cold ones, so I picked up more on that side. They had samples, not as much as they should have had. I sampled a very thin cracker that was delicious. They offered one type of cheese with it gouda, in cubes. That's fine, but for a cracker some sliced cheeses would be appreciated. They were really pushing the chicken and stuffing that they do themselves. Tasty but cold stuffing is a no-no.I love their salads. I had the pasta pecan. I think it should have had more mayo, and I'm sure someone else will think it should have less. Not sure where people around here usually go, Cub most likely. You'll go here cause it's attractive, you'll be treated right, and you love impulse shopping. You walk right into the flower display and gifty things. I picked up the foaming hand soap/ napkins and a room spray, cause I'm excited about the upcoming holiday season. Mind you I wasn't until I walked in. read more

We used Kowalski's service for a wedding to include food and beverage. First, the food was good and the overall event was fine in regards to coordination and execution. My low rating is strictly related to the excessive cost on the beverage side. Don't make the same mistake that I did, stay away from their beverage service and find someone else. read more

I don't shop here often unless I am looking for something special or I am driving by on my way home. I stopped tonight to get a rotisserie chicken. This was my second time buying one at this location. I had forgotten about my last experience & this was more of the same. Both times the chickens were so dry they were almost inedible. I have been buying rotisserie chicken at Cub for years & have never been disappointed. Cub also charges less. Next time I will drive further down the road to get my chicken at Cub. read more

Superlative! Excellent place to explore and shop for items that you know you probably can get elsewhere cheaper but....its so much better here. Friendly, helpful staff and super selection of...everything. Nice to have a Kowalski's so close to us in North Oaks....hope those trolls from Fridley or Little Canada don't come over and mess it up for us. read more
