Enormous Asian grocery and goods store! So much more than groceries. Kitchen ware, restaurant supplies, home goods. Deli and seafood counters. Felt like I was back in Asia. Ran out of time to explore it all so will definitely be back. read more

This store is amazing! It has everything my mother and I were looking for. We were able to find all of our Goya products and ingredients we struggle to find at other stores. The kitchen and home aisles are well stocked and have cute items. I was impressed by the variety of items available. In addition, I was equally impressed by the staff and owner. When we couldn't find an item, he assured us he would restock it. Very kind and went above and beyond. I look forward to my next visit. read more

Wowsa!! This store is HUGE! And clean. And kind of funny because I don't think they even changed anything from the Walmart that was here previously. The exact same fixtures are still in the exact spots. Ha. I think it was mostly Asian food but there were some other ethnic foods offered. I visited around 5pm on a week day and there were only a couple things available at the hot deli (6 pieces of fried chicken for $4!!). Half of the store seems to be bulk purchases? There's a sign that says restaurant supply so I'm not sure if that's only open to specific buyers. This will probably become my go to International store. read more

Empire Foods has so many options inside. It is located in an abandoned Walmart supercenter and it has anything you would ever need for cooking. I was actually surprised by how many different kinds of meat they had. They even had alligator and wild boar, which is something I do not think I have ever seen in a grocery store. The pricing is OK and they offer other things too like a fresh seafood market. The only thing is that the store feels kind of closed or empty inside, which gives it a bit of an eerie vibe, but that does not really matter if you are just shopping for groceries. As for the deli, a lot of the food was sitting out for a while so I would not recommend getting anything unless it just came out fresh. Next time I am planning on trying the fried pork and getting a side of rice. It is all pretty cheap. read more

It's now been a year since they opened and things are better. More Asian candy and snacks available and now there's a deli section! I work nearby here, and I'm happy to be able to buy some delicious healthy lunch here for cheap. See pictures! My entire lunch cost $2.84. Where can you buy a healthy lunch like this at this cost? Stopped by to check this place out. I was so excited to see the amazing variety of items available. Prices where great. We got so much ramen, and sauces that I just cannot find up in Brainerd! Staff was so friendly and helped us find the items we needed. read more

This is my first time going to this grocery stores since it recently open by at my house. I love that it was clean. It's super big and has so many isles of lots of international foods that I love. They have a nice big parking lot. Since it's pretty new, there wasn't a lot of people there at least the day that I went. It was nice because I was able to get in and out and didn't have to wait in the long lines. read more

OK, first and foremost, United Noodle? You will always be my favorite. I love getting lunch there. However driving 40 minutes is just not practical. Let me introduce you to Empire Foods. This nondescript market is located in the dead but hopefully rejuvenated Brookdale Mall area. Honestly, I am all a-tingle at this new place! It was reimagined after Walmart left the community. So, let's get to the meat and potatoes of this place. First, it is really expansive! I am guessing about 150K in retail space. If you are looking for any Asian items, you will certainly find them here! Here is what I really like and will have me coming back. 1. bone-in pork butt at 1.99 LB 2. whole rabbit 3. Lentils and beans that you will not get at Hy-Vee, Cub, Lunds, etc. 4. Noodles - there are so many options in different sizes\ 5. Spices - there are plenty of options of hard-to-get items like tamarind, anatto, and others. There is so much more like cooking pots, rice cookers and so much more. You really need to get here. A great international grocery store. Staff are friendly, service was great. They have a large wholesale section and most prices are super reasonable considering the recent inflation spike. They have a TON of Goya products, so we'll certainly be back! read more

While yes it's in the old Walmart location, with the same carts, registers, and layout... don't expect the same experience. Empire Foods is very different and for a me a great shopping destination when in need of special items. As for everyday household and food items, I find them to be a bit pricier (think cleaning products, frozen veggies, bread). However, other items (like red snapper, some produce) seem reasonable. I like that some items offer several options to select from (soy sauce, vermicelli noodles, shrimp). Personally, I'd stay away from the red meat, b/c truth be told several packages looked a lot more like "brown meat". Albeit small, they have a selection of ingredients for African cuisine and Latino cuisine. When you're done in the food aisles, peruse all the interesting items in cookware and dinnerware. From reusable chopsticks, mixing bowls big enough to bathe a baby, pots, food containers, and more... there are so many options. In all, my first visit was overall good and I wish them the best. read more

Empire foods is under the same umbrella as Sun Foods. This location was bigger and had a whole sale store vibe with your regular asian grocery store. They do also have Mexican, American and African spices and aisles as well. As right now meat selection doesn't look too well as in they have the brown color. Seafood section is still set to expand more. They have the normal and some more items that I've seen like kimchi brands. I didn't get much experience on fresh food as they were closed, but had fun exploring the cookware items as there was so many read more

Empire Foods has taken over the old Walmart. It's a huge operation, with aisles upon aisles of groceries, produce and housewares. This store specializes in Asian-style products and caters to Asian-American shoppers, but does have aisles with Mexican and African products. Checkout can be a bit hectic but with more time I think they'll improve. read more

This place is HUGE and prices great! it took me over and hour to see where everything was and I didn't see it all! Amazing selection of Asian foods and vegetables. The only thing I couldn't find was great hotpot meat that one day. I got some to lunch to go and thought they could offer way more options than just fried foods. They would do so well. read more

Need some better English speaking cashiers! This cashier who was Spanish didn't understand when i said "no bag" for my items - because it was bulky and didn't need extra plastic bagging!! she ended up canceling my items!! Otherwise prices are fair and decent! read more

The deli at Empire Foods deserves a try. The team was very pleasant. We grabbed a few fresh egg rolls and a sesame ball. The sesame ball was filled with a sweet yellow pasty concoction. We could not tell exactly what it was but it was very yummy. The egg rolls are recommended as well. They are just a dollar each so we grabbed a few. Just reheated them in the air fryer and mmmm.
