Trader Joe's is always a great to stop for groceries, snacks, to go meals, etc. They have a great selection of frozen food items for quick and easy meals throughout the week. One of my favorite items they have there is their organic elote corn chips. These chips are a must have if you're having a taco night. I still have yet to find a chip that's similar and or better than this one. Service there is always quick and easy as their cashiers are always quick, personable and so kind. You know, I was going to give this place 4 stars because the parking sometimes sucks. But seriously. Should I really be that petty??? So I made a mental list of the pros and cons. Inexpensive flowers? Check! Decent selection of produce? Check! A frozen aisle of items that make you go hmmm? Check! Plus they do the occasional sampling of something and it usually pretty good. Also, they OWN the self branded kick ass condiment market. The fried onion in pepper oil? Wow! The elote dip for chips? Can't get that shit in my mouth fast enough! The green bottle of jalapeño cream sauce? I will drown my eggs with that stuff! They are so cute and loved how a worker helped me find where they were at since I didn't know the layout as much. I forgot his name but a male worker white guy was very helpful and said they just got a stock in and lead me to it. I got the pink pastel bag that I been wanting. The fresh flower selection was nice, as was everything else -- produce, frozen veg, bread, dairy, meat. I appreciate the ample selection without the mass quantities of a huge supermarket. I especially like the little tips written on the product description price tags! Avocados always seem to be priced on the high end, but most everything else feels like a deal on quality. I love coming to Trader Joe's for all of my grocery needs! This location in particular is very well stocked, they even had my favorite turkey burgers which always seem to be out of stock everywhere else! Pair that along with a few of the salad kits I picked up and it's a super yummy and healthy meal. It was a friends birthday, so I also picked up a beautiful bouquet of flowers for only $9.99 which is a huge steal! You can't beat the price and quality anywhere else. She LOVED them! They also had decorated for winter with cute little snowflakes hanging from the ceiling, which I appreciate because it makes it such a positive and fun shopping experience. As others have stated, not a friendly place for really anyone. I've had several bad experiences and like other reviews who noted bad service - almost everyone I know had a bad story to share about this place. This store obviously does not follow typical Trader Joe's hiring policies as from my experience most of the employees are miserable, hate their jobs, and take it out on customers in weird ways. To be fair, some of the customers are also questionable. Been to a dozen Trader Joe's and had great experiences and this one stands out as being by far the worst experience very consistently. Maybe it's the suburban location that attracts a lot of karen shoppers and employees but I dread going in here, no similes from anyone because everyone hates being in there. If you want a grocery store in Shoreview, Trader Joe's is a grocery. Yay! Who or what is Trader Joe? It's the other branch of Aldi, Aldi Nord, except that they don't call it that. (The chain we call Aldi in the US is Aldi Süd.) And don't imply that they're Aldi, because that'll start a big North-South turf war. (Been there, done that, j/k.) The biggest difference in Minnesota between Trader Joe's and Aldi is that Trader Joe's has an attached, but separate, liquor store. Aldi stores in Minnesota don't have any alcohol. (Aldi stores in Wisconsin and other non-above-average / non-Minnesotan states have beer and wine in the grocery store itself.) Anyhow, that was way too long of an intro! This is a good Trader Joe's and maybe even the best one in the Twin Cities. Even when it's crowded, it doesn't drive me nuts. People here are friendly, but not overly friendly.* What's good: fake sausages, tortilla chips, tofu blocks, coffee, frozen fruit, veggie Masala patties, coconut creamer, chocolate, olive oil, bananas and much, much more, by Joe. Usually, stuff is in stock, it's clean, it's organized and it's Aldi but in name, except that it's not and they have bags and they will bag your food, usually. Plus, they trust you with their shopping carts. Fancy. Not really, but we can pretend it is. So, stop in and see what you think. ----- *Overly long postscript about overly friendly: at several other Trader Joe's, I've had awkward, forced, so-friendly small-talk conversations with the cashiers. For example, when buying soy chorizo (which I don't even know if they carry anymore), a cashier might exclaim, "Oh, have you had that?! It's sooooooo good! It goes great with chicken!" Me: "Uh yah, I bought it before so I already know and I already was buying it, so you don't need to sell it to me. And it doesn't need chicken. That's kinda the whole point of buying a carcass-free food." And no, I didn't reply like that, because I don't really want to get into it, and there's nothing preventing a carnivore or omnivore from eating soy with their meal, either. Trader Joe's is a great place to shop. Their employees are always very helpful if you can't find something you're looking for and are friendly. I once couldn't find a seasonal item and they looked up when the next shipment was! They have a lot of gluten free options so I enjoy seeing what new items they have each season and picking up gluten free items. read more

This is a pretty solid TJ's! This location has a parking lot, attached liquor store and the samples that everyone loves. Inventory is usually changing so there's always new fun seasonal treats. I love Trader Joe's for said treats, plus they have some of my favorite gluten free products. Their GF bread, frozen mac and cheese, and cauliflower gnocchi are the best in the GF biz. But of course some of their innovative foods can be hit or miss. This store is clean and the employees are friendly and helpful. The employees here are not the jollyiest in the ranking of the trader joes employees but they are nice and professional. This Trader Joe's is exceptionally clean, well-stocked, and conveniently located just off 694 and Lexington Avenue. It has the products that you've come to enjoy from Trader Joe's. You can find fresh meats, cheeses, produce, and bakery items, as well as frozen and packaged foods. You'll find some things here that you won't find elsewhere, like blueberry juice and other specialty items. It used to be that some of their items, like milk, were lower priced, or at least priced equivalent to the low price of other stores. We've found that the prices have really creeped higher here. Always an excellent shopping experience! I love Shoreview for the large variety of shops and eateries in a relatively small space but with no parking hassles whatsoever. I'll drive to this Trader Joe's before any other because the size is good, selection excellent and parking abundant. I adore their goat cheese logs. Most recently we got to try their Apple Cinnamon log and it was perfect for Autumn dinner parties, to eat as a snack or on warm French baguette. Their Blackberry Vanilla goat cheese log is great too. Other noteworthy items we enjoy are the Beef Brisket and Pulled Pork, great on their ciabatta rolls. Their Yellow Curry sauce, Trader Ming's orange chicken and their classic hummus are exceptional. The coffee aisle is not to be missed! $4.99 for a container of their medium roast which you can grind yourself in-store is a hit in our family. But, what gets me coming back are those phenomenal fill ins. Dark chocolate peanut butter cups, mochi and cookie butter ice cream. And the not so sweet, orange chicken, frozen naan, and Everything but the bagel seasoning. Beautiful flowers and herbs at a reasonable price as well as their selection of wines, beer and spirits. I've had more hits than misses in the frozen section. Also, if you love their food, they have a great cookbooks that add premade favorites to make quick, delicious meals! One meal favorite is potsticker soup which includes their stir fry veg, sesame oil and gyoza. read more

Finally NE Metro gets a Trader Joe's Not that I don't like the other ones, but its nice to have one nearby. They just opened, but the stock is chock full of interesting tidbits to try. If you've never been to a Trader Joe's, its kind of a natural food store that doesn't take itself too seriously. That means not everything in here is organic .. but there are plenty of offerings that fit the bill. I bought some tasty hummus, pita chips, maple cookies, and some sunflower butter today. Of course I also got my staples of dried mango and candied ginger. There was no pit ham in the meat section. Those things are great, so I hope they get them soon. read more

I've been pretty satisfied with the standard of quality I've seen at all of the Trader Joe's locations in the metro. This one is tucked in behind a gas station. The parking lot doesn't seem huge so I could see how it could become congested during peak hours but I've never really had a problem since I just make quick errands when I have some downtime at work nearby. I always like checking out the greeting cards they offer. I was expecting them to be at the back of the store but they are to the left of the checkout. The lad that helped me checkout was very cheerful. Told me how he was from West coast and how they let their employees try out locations in other states. That was pretty neat. read more

Went in to Trader Joe's real quick to grab some simple items. My experience was very unpleasant to say the least. I was trying to ask a question on the floor but no one was available. Then when I got up to the register it was clearly open. But the cashier was trying to get the attention of some guy two lanes over who had headphones in and was not paying attention. So I go up to the register and ask if it's open and he brushes me off saying "no I'm going to help that guy" and points to the guy with headphones. 1) At least apologize and say "sorry or I apologize" I'm helping another customer... 2) If someone is right in front of your register and you clearly are open then you should help them... Not sure who trained this employee but he obviously needs to learn some manners. Also, does anyone else get overwhelmed when walking into the store? Trader Joe's... Aldi's slightly classier, older sister (Aldi, my man! Hits-chest-kisses-fist-peace-sign). This place has everything you never knew you needed. As my health has steady declined the last 6 months I've tried to start eating a bit healthier to see if it makes a difference. I know. Gross. I've learned about everything from healing a leaky gut to...you name it. Kombucha, Jicama, Cranberry Juice (without all the sugar), and Sauerkraut are among those items on the list of things I've been trying to include more of. I've been able to find all three in good quality, and great price, at Trader Joe's. I've also started using their face moisturizers since it's pretty basic on ingredients and gets the job done. I'm typically making a run over there on my lunch break and it's cool to see their staff multi-task like crazy people to help out wherever needed. They're always happy to stop and ask if you need assistance, or run up to open another register when they see the lines growing. They operate similar to Aldi in that their employees cover all positions in the store. I've resolved that if they open a location near me, I'm applying. Good prices, friendly staff, great choices, clean. I'm tempted to give er 5 stars but... there isn't one near my house. (INSERT SUBTLE HINT HERE). I will add that it's not set up well, and sometimes really confusing to find things. read more

I love that I can walk into any Trader Joe's- even if it's in a different state- and be able to find exactly what I'm looking for. I generally come here for pizza fixings (whole wheat dough, burrata cheese (a must!), chicken and veggies, and never have a problem with items being in stock. The store is kept clean and there are always some tasty samples to try. It has a fairly large parking lot and is close to some eateries and across from Target, so an easy stop if you're running errands in the area! read more

I have an undying, stupid love for Trader Joes that somewhat defies reason. Whenever I enter a Trader Joe's the thrill of the hunt enters my soul, and I'm instantly alert and on the prowl for new and cool discoveries. I think a huge part of the appeal has to be the cost, Tarder Joe's is just so affordable for new and organic products, but also, some of the products are just so appealingly unique and creative. I discovered melon juice here - delicious, refreshing, and just about the best mixer I have ever purchased, really great with any light/clear liquor. Another top, unfortunately seasonal, product was the Indian curry popcorn. It was just amazing. A small, optimistic, part of me remains stubbornly hopeful every time I enter, thinking to myself that maybe they'll have brought it back today! I also like their wide selection of cheeses and charcuterie. Their baguettes. Their flower bouquets - so fresh, so cheap! Nice selection of seasonal produce. Brussel sprouts on the stalk! (But so very hard to clean) Their tea tree oil shampoo - so affordable compared to any other brand at any other store! But I do want to caveat, that not everything is tasty, and some things (looking at you, evil frozen breakfast burrito), are very, bad for you in terms of cholesterol, saturated fat, sodium, etc. The TJ brand organic altoid knockoff has the texture of chalk, and are not "curiously strong." Also - their dish washing liquid does not foam. The one other thing I don't like about Trader Joe's is that their selection is somewhat limited depending on product category. Sometimes, they have everything I need, except for that one item like a packet of yeast or wheat berries. Which means I have to stop by another grocery store. This can be difficult for a lazy person like me, especially if it's cold or wet or snowing outside. This store has also been very clean each time I've visited, and the checkout process is also very fast and efficient. The employees I've interacted have also been very friendly and helpful. I also consider it a win that there is TJ liquor store right next store! I don't usually indulge in the cheap wines, after a particularly disapointing experience with TJ brand boxed Cab. But I do regularly take advantage of the mix and match, make your own 6 pack beer deal they have. Basically, you can get any single beer for 1/6th the price of a 6 pack. So it's priced very fairly, and it's a fun way to try a new or seasonal brew. read more

A TJ anywhere is never a bad thing. I'll go if I'm out this way, however it's as tight as the one in St. Paul, and it wasn't as bright inside. They had 1 package left of the sliced cheese variety pack for a party. Always a great variety of the most delicious hummus.Nice seasonal flowers, not the cool pumpkin vines, but I didn't need them anyway. My favorite staple is the mayonnaise. The shopping cart situation seems ok, they're all different. I really am getting tired of the closet sized stores. Is Maple Grove, the only roomy one. I find myself going to this new Trader Joes quite often after many years of shopping at Byerly's in Roseville. I like the fact that there isn't a large redundancy of products by multiple companies, so shopping can be accomplished reasonably quickly. And the prices are much better and the quality quite good for the most part. Thankfully there isn't a lot of people with their children running free like the large warehouse grocery stores. I have not abandoned Byerly's as they have some product that Trader Joes can't match, but all in all, I really like the choices and the vibe. read more

If there was a duel amongst the grocery stores, we all know that Trader Joe's would prove to be superior. If there was a battle amongst TJ locations, I believe Shoreview would come out on top. I've been to many TJ's in my days, but man, this one is fantastic! This location feels much larger than any of the other locations I've been to. They carry all the standard TJ things and I didn't notice "more" TJ things, but it just felt less cramped. They also have a very large liquor store section, which does not exist at my Connecticut location. So I'm very very envious of that. The only reason this did not get five stars is the service. I don't know if I just went super late, close to their closing time, but people weren't very friendly. It was missing the usual TJ charm that I often find when frequenting a Trader Joe's. read more

Social Closening and That ain't my job with three different employees! March 29th, 2020: Went to this TJs and they blocked much of the entrance outside by tying jackets and lines around those don't drive into our store things. They forced people closer together by doing this. There was a small, 2 foot, entrance near the carts that you had to wait until someone left to get in. That's good. The woman in front of me praised the lady counting and enforcing this like it was brain surgery. Meanwhile everyone was leaving through this little 2ft entrance. I asked the lady why aren't they going over there, about 8 feet away and keeping distance? She seemed irritated that I didn't praise her (thanks parents that don't believe in winners/losers, etc.) and shrugged. I hopped in and out as quick as possible, then was yelled at by the line enforcer for being too close to the cashier. Uh, I was 6 or 7 feet away! Then I told him about the entrance, He said that was outside and he was doing inside, and promptly walked away from his job. Then when I was almost done paying I asked the cashier about the entrance. Again, that's outside was the answer. I was super angry by that time and said "it is your effing property". Then she stopped bagging, started lecturing me about needing to respect her, got super pissed at me (she didn't know she was the 3rd person I tried to get to help, OMG), and called out that we have a number 3, whatever the hell that is. All the other cashiers looked scared like I was about to pull a gun (btw, Nope!!!) and I thought they were gunna call the cops! It is lunacy out there people. Anyway, the manager came, I told him the problem, he said, there's no exit sign? After telling me it is so hard to control the public. Oh, I understand, risk lives for your lousy excuse. Anyway, the exit sign faced the parking lot, not the store. So, on top of the exit sign being blown away, it was facing the wrong way in the first place and that counting lady is not even a useful idiot. Also, I really raised the fur of that cashier when I got sick of her lecture and said, "just finish bagging my stuff and let me go". That's when she called out "We got a number 3!!!". Uh, that is what you are paid for lady, bagging. I'm sure some people in grocery business are smart, if you are, avoid this place if you are looking for a job. They'll drive you nutz. read more

This place is a zoo! I waited for 10 minutes with my 2yr old just to get broccoli.. The layout is just not efficient enough for the amount of people who come here. I will continue going to the trader joes in woodbury. I previously thought that their prices would probably be higher than let's say a Target or a Cub BUT I was so wrong, I've actually discovered that it is opposite, they are cheaper than other places. Their frozen foods are fantastic and full of flavor. Their meat is of the highest quality. The staff goes above and beyond to make sure you are having a positive shopping experience and are extremely friendly. Finally, if you are not satisfied with a food item you can bring it back for a full refund with no questions asked. This store really strives for great costumer service and quality products. The options were limited, gluten free items lacked labeling that allowed them to stand out, and the prices were comparable to my Co-op so I'd rather just shop there.
