This place is BOUGIE! So fancy for a grocery store. I will say the prices here are very expensive but it looks super nice in here and the entire place is carpeted?! Crazy. To be honest, we came here specifically for the bakery and it did not disappoint. First of all, Jasmine is a super star. She was very knowledgeable about all the products and so friendly. We got a lot of treats (macarons, donuts, tarts), all of which have been delicious! read more

I really like the layout of the store and variety of things sold but the workers are incredibly rude! My last visit I asked someone for help looking for a particular item and they looked irritated and responded with attitude. I ended up finding the item on my own. When checking out I was asked if I wanted plastic or paper bags. I said paper and the cashier used plastic bags I reiterated that I wanted paper and the cashier just looked at me and continued to bag using plastic bags. I was extremely uncomfortable and will not be returning. read more

I mean what can I say besides I love this location and I love Sherry in the Deli department she is always so kind and always says hello when she sees me or the kids. This is a go to spot when it comes to groceries or whenever I'm craving a special dessert I know I can come here and get something unique. I mean it wasn't long ago maybe we'll yesterday I was craving something chocolaty and went with the death by chocólate which was delicious! They have many show stoppers in display that will be great for special occasions. When it comes to meat options I trust the cleanliness of this place and also the prepared options they have in case you want something quicker to put in the oven. Every time I've ordered something from here it's been delicious and staff have been helpful. They have a great deli section and my gosh my fav cheese section! Also have variety when it comes to withers Mexican products or Asian products as well. Love this L&B ! Oh and this is an old event that happened but on Halloween they hired a DJ and had activities for the kids to do around the grocery store and IT WAS THE BEST EXPERIENCE my kids had for Halloween so please please do that every year because it made L& B that much more special when you have opportunities to connect with your community. read more

I ordered a 10 pound fresh turkey several weeks before Thanksgiving. When I picked it up on November 25 they gave me a package with 14.36 pounds at $4.99 a pound! I asked for it to be cut in half, which they did, but not all the way through. I had to wrestle to cut the remainder in half. I questioned the order to a meat market person and he said they get what they get. Turkey was brined and had some sort of green spice all over it. My husband hates spices. I assumed it would not be treated in any way since it was "fresh". It would have been a courtesy of Lund's to make a quick call informing me they did not get what I ordered and give me the opportunity to cancel the order. Got me once but won't get me again. Terrible customer service. (and the best part was the turkey wasn't very good!!) read more

Provide better service by having your cashiers say hello and most importantly thank you!

The staff stocking are so unbelievably rude! "Get out of the way." If you see customers walking with small children you should be careful not hit them with your large oversized cart. Poor hygiene in the deli. The employee wore the same set of gloves the entire time. This review is about the "Customer Service" counter at the Roseville Byerly's, and I waited a day to cool down before writing this review. Yes, I knew it was Monday before lunch and the day before April 15th. I accounted for that. That's why I filled out all the necessary paperwork before getting there to help expedite the transaction. When I got to the counter, 'Cindy K'. (at least that's what it says on the receipt) took my 'Priority' package (what the USPS calls service between Standard and Express) and told me I had to fill out more paperwork. Fine, you know how those rules always change. After stepping aside to fill out the paperwork so I didn't hold up the line, I stood in line some more to wait my turn. She took several minutes to process my package and handed me my receipt. I said, "This says 'Express' and my package is 'Priority'" She realized she majorly goofed and did apologize, but then I had to wait while she tried to rip off all the paperwork. When that didn't work, she ripped open my envelop and had to rewrite all the paperwork I had filled out. In the meantime, there were at least two managers helping others instead of helping her. To say I was upset and livid was an understatement. One of the managers could see that my head was about to explode, started to explain the process. I politely (yes, politely) interrupted her and said, "Please stop and don't say anything else. It's very apparent I am beyond upset and will probably say something that will hurt everyone's feelings, so let's just hurry up and wrap this up." It took over 25 minutes for something that should have taken 5 minutes. Thankfully I don't have to punch a clock for my lunch break, but my friend was waiting for me in the restaurant and we had an afternoon meeting. The managers should have realized there was a problem and stepped in to help. The lady who clearly had no clue should have asked for help. I expect so much more from Bylery's and am very disappointed. I guess next time I have to go to the Post Office near work, where the line is longer and less fun than Space Mountain. read more

Above Harris Teeter but slightly below Whole Foods is where I would categorize this place. In addition to being a full Supermarket, there is a hot bar, Deli, and a place selling Asian-style style rice bowls. There's also a full restaurant attached to the store. The lunch options were great. Pot roast, Mediterranean Cod, roasted carrots, roasted brussel sprouts, mashed potatoes, potato wedges, and a couple of other things. My colleagues and l all ordered different things, but everyone seemed to really enjoy our lunch selections. I did not expect this many choices from a grocery store, but I was pleasantly surprised and impressed by not only the variety, but the quality of the food. read more

Decided to try something different today for lunch. Stopped by Lunds to get a sample of their assortment of lunch entrees. Grilled string beans, fry chicken breast, chicken enchilada with tomatillos sauce, braised pork, corn fritters, guacamole, roasted Pumpkin and Brussels sprout, and pickle pearl onions. Good flavor: corn fritters, guacamole, tomatillos sauce, pickle pearl onion and braised pork. The onion helps cut the richness of the pork with it crunchy texture & sweet/sour flavors. Could need some work: chicken a little dry (the chicken could've been sitting at the hot tray for a while, thus making it dry) green beans had no flavor, pumpkin a little el dente for my liking. The Brussels sprout was bland (I haven't found a place that serves Brussels sprout that excite my taste buds. The meal only cost $8.23 - - reasonable if you like to sample an assortment of foods. This Lunds and also have a salad bar, olive bar, cold cuts, assortment of pre-made pasta salads, and sushi bar. It's a toss up...Byerly's vs. Kowalski's. Really I love them both.. I was comparing them both as I was savoring my salad bar to go. I'm a huge fan of the salad bar. So few places have really good salad bars anymore with good ingredients. Byerly's never lets me down in this arena. Love their olive bar. Lot of great selections grilled asparagus salad, the olive feta cheese mix, artichoke hearts (they have gotten smaller, but still good), colossal olives and so much more. Byerly's wins this race. I really enjoy the atmosphere here the selection and pure goodness of the entire deli and packaged hermetically sealed items to go. Lots of variety! And... they have a little area to sit and eat. On the few occasions that I do drink pop, I was pleasantly surprised to see that they carried the Mtn Dew- White Out. Very hard to find. read more

Love this fancy grocery store for a few items in particular. That have the best seafood salad in their seafood case (it's different than the one in the deli.) They have a great variety of take out, and there is some of the best bakery items in any commercial bakery I've ever had. M&M cookies are to die for! My issue is with the staff here. Mostly flat affects, zero customer service skills, and overall just blah. I know I'm in a yuppy, high end grocery store and people are generally more high maintenance when they spend large sums of money for mostly equal products as the regular grocery store, but dang smile & say "thanks" or "how can I help you" once in a blue moon. read more

I love the hush. With the carpet buffering any cart rattling and the crystal chandeliers reflecting a more dignified era, Byerly's is still my favorite grocery store. I go for the whole roasted chicken for $6.99, or $4.99 on Fridays ("Five Buck Cluck"). The well-stocked, well-kept produce. In-house Caribou Coffee. Quiet old-timer's restaurant. The gluten-free section, the fresh eggs, wide selection of yogurts and cheeses. The friendly staff who remember me and have time for a chat. For the drive up grocery pickup (even though it drives me crazy to see the old guys out there in the cold or the heat). I simply love Byerlys. Consistently good food and good service. I've eaten at Byerly's many, many, many times. I've never had a bad experience. The food and the service have always been great. No business is perfect. And there are always problems. But I haven't had any issues over the years. It's amazing to me that Byerly's has been around SO LONG and has kept up with its quality and service. So many other restaurants have gone extinct over the years. But not Byerly's. Of course, you can always do some grocery shopping after eating. Byerly's reminds me of the more accomplished twin of Lunds. I got a gift card that Lund's gave away. The most beautiful flowers for sale. Various cookbooks, including their own, and a revised Eleanor Ostman's Always on Sunday. Gorgeous meat and deli, and buffet area. Complete with a post office and Caribou. Their displays are gorgeous, I favored the cheese. I once brought my visiting friend from NY here, and she was in shock. All she ever saw was vile Price Chopper. Minnesotan's would have nightmares if they saw a grocery store like that! They used to carry the Drake's coffee cakes that eastcoasters are obsessed with. Unfortunately, it never caught on here. Advertising would have helped. I know I don't need the extra 20 lbs. if they were available, but Minnesota, you are missing out. Oh, and the carpet stays! read more

There are many stores in the Lunds and Byerlys family. This one is in my hood, so I might be just a little bit biased...but I have good reason to be! This is one example of my many great experiences at this Byerlys: High stress situation, one year old sons birthday party with my family AND the inlaws starting in two hours, 6 year old daughter in tow, picking up a ridiculously awesome speciality cake for the little man. This cake is seriously amazing! A double decker white cake with blueberry filling (baby's favorite food is blueberries, go mom!) that looks like a giant lion head. I got the idea from Pinterest and the bakers at Byerlys brought it to life! It's aaaaaliiive! I'll post a picture. I reach over the counter for the masterpiece and my surprise was palpable. This was a heavy freaking cake! The baker comes around the counter, helps me delicately move the beast into my cart, and then accompanies me from bakery to register to Nissan where Mr. Lion cake gets shotgun and a seatbelt! Did I mention that the cashier and bagger helped entertain the 6 year old? Yes, she was there the whole time and didn't destroy anything. Ahhhmazing! Thank you Roseville Byerlys bakers for making me look like one of those awesome Pinterest moms, when I'm really just a full time working scientist mom with good taste in bakeries. read more

I hate shopping but I love food, which is why I love Byerly's. Byerly's puts food on a pedestal, where it belongs. I might pay a bit more for the experience, but isn't food (and my body) worth it? I love window shopping in the deli section, without being harassed by employees asking if they can help me (Hello?!? I'm not here to talk to YOU, I'm here to revel in FOOD!). I like to go slow in the fruit aisle and inhale the fresh smells. I adore the tea aisle, where I can stock my ample tea cupboard with varieties I can't get anyplace else. And I love that I can come here with Thing 1 and Thing 2 and not get glared at by the employees for daring to bring small people into their space. In fact, they're offered suckers at checkout, rather than being taunted by the rows of candy docked at most grocery store checkouts. I actually worked briefly at the restaurant in location in college, and what impressed me most was when I interviewed with the manager he emphasized the importance of the customer and giving back to the community. For lack of a better phrase: "It's a fucking grocery store." I don't care if you carry truffles, I don't care if you have a large selection of organic foods, I also don't care about your soup/salad bar. Cub foods carries the SAME basics for $2 cheaper per product. I can understand picking up a unique item here, but I can't for the life of me figure out why they can put such a premium on food... it's bullshit! Oh, and don't expect customer service here. They either forgot to change the battery in their hearing-aid, or had a bad day at their high school so they aren't very helpful. I have two words: olive bar. Whenever I go to Byerly's I get the weirdest urge to find a vintage '50's housewife dress, put it on, and make a martini worthy of bleu cheese stuffed olives. Their cheese selection cannot be beat. I aspire to become a thrower of dinner parties when I become a grown-up when I traipse the aisles of this place. Their deli is great, and though in general it's a more expensive store there are good deals to be found - like Sushi Wednesday and Five-Buck-Cluck - $5 rotisserie chickens on Fridays. I have always found the service to be top notch, with friendly people at the registers and around the store to help you find things. Also their tea selection is fabulous... and the bakery has the best chocolate croissants I've ever had in my life. Bylerly's, we are in a fight. Why do you have to be so expensive?? My co-op, which has more of the same brands AND more organic and farm-to-table type items is WAAAAY cheaper than you are. I only visit you for your cakes (for parties that I am bringing them to) because for some reason, your cakes are better and cheaper than many places in the cities. Also, when I am trying to look for another grocery store in a neighborhood I am not familiar with, your blue sign just magically appears to mock me. So, I know you are trying to be upscale, but guess what! Whole foods is upscale and is STILL cheaper than you are. YOU ARE A GROCERY STORE!! My money should not be going to your mob family, it should be going to lowering the cost of the products. Look, I know what you are trying to do and I respect that, but please remember that you are in Minnesota and not California, New York, Seattle. . . oh wait, these places have upscale grocery stores too. . that are STILL not expensive as you!! Green Giant = Green Giant everywhere else, not at a 50 cent markup. Is that 50 cents going to save baby seals? No, I don't think so. I do like the people you keep behind your registers because at least they have a sense of humor and tease you behind your back. We laugh, we sigh, but at the end of the day we still are upset, because we found our chestnuts that were off season for $13.00 a can and we sort of can't complain about that. Please work on yourself a bit more, and maybe we won't fight so much. read more

It's good but it's gone downhill over the years. Seems like after Lunds and Byerly's combined it has suffered in the process. It used to be Byerly's was a destination grocery store and considered very special. There were restaurants in a lot of the stores and the St Louis Park location had very expensive knick knacks and it was very upscale. Much of that has been whittled away over the years. It's pretty well kept and carpeted and does have a very good selection but since the pandemic there are supply issues where they will run out of deli items for weeks at time and the salad bar will frequently run low and not be replenished at all in the evening. Little things like that that all add up. Plus they have upscale competitors like Hy-Vee and Kowalski's that they didn't used to have and the Roseville restaurant is over and not returning. The Roseville store was remodeled the last few years but I HATE the harsh LED lighting. It used to have very elegant subdued lighting but that's gone. The best Lund's & Byerly's I know of now is the store in Edina near Southdale mainly because it was newly constructed not many years ago. read more

The bakery here is the bomb! Admittedly, my husband does most of the grocery shopping for the house, so I've started to have very little patience for most stores. Byerly's kicks it up a notch for me. I live closer to this location, but work closer to Eagan, which is larger and more spacious. I will pop in here if I need just a few items or I see something in their ad I can't live without. The customer service at the checkout lanes is fantastic. I purchased an item I would normally get at Target and when I opened it up, it was as though it had been wet and was all nasty on the inside. The cashier who helped me exchanged it, no questions asked. I find this location to have a better selection of bakery items when I need just a little something for a birthday treat. Although, I find the service at the deli to be lackadaisical and slow. I've never gotten anything from the salad bar, mainly because it looks like a tornado went through it - stuff on the rails and all over the floor. It just looks icky. Am I the only one that isn't completely sold on the Byerly's shopping experience? Especially at this Byerly's? I cannot stand going in this store - it's small and either over crowded or a ghost town. The employee's in the grocery department aren't very helpful and as Joseph W. pointed out, they're all older and slow. Very nice when you do speak to them, but not exactly helpful in most circumstances. Plus, I don't like the idea of paying extra for the same product I can get at Rainbow - a Washington Apple is a Washington Apple, a bag of Birds Eye frozen corn is a bag of Birds Eye frozen corn - it's not better just because I bought it at Byerly's and paid extra. And what's up with the carpet? However, occasionally - and I really do mean occasionally - I have gone here in a last minute attempt to find a "rare" grocery item I have had no luck finding elsewhere. All of the negative being said already . . . They have a great bakery. If I could rare the bakery separate from the rest of the store, it would get 5 stars. I actually got my cupcakes and wedding cake for my wedding last fall from this location and it was perfect and the staff were super helpful in that department. Plus, they weren't *too* pricey, at least in comparison to actual cake shops in the area. The deli area is also good, in a pinch I will get salads here for pot-lucks or family events. While I typically am a big fan of Byerlys and have frequented many of their locations around the Twin Cities, I was a little disappointed in my recent experience doing a pick-up order from this location. We have been doing a lot of grocery delivery through a variety of stores/apps lately, and Byerlys tends to have excellent service. I decided to accept substitutes on our grocery order and sought out Byerlys in the hopes of getting high quality salmon as compared to other local options. I allowed substitutions on the several items I ordered, assuming they would find comparable items or contact me if there were any question. The salmon I selected was $18.99/lb and seemed like a good deal for the high quality product - however, when I got my order home, I found that the substitute that was chosen was $27.99/lb, which to me was a substantial difference! I really wish they had the consideration to contact me or a more advanced interface so you could have more control over substitutes - I didn't realize that they would consider that a reasonable substitution so I didn't think to specify in the notes that the price should be comparable. To make matters worse, our salmon filets were full of pin bones so my husband had to spend quite a bit of time prepping them when that should have been taken care of prior. Needless to say, we will think twice before seeking out Byerlys, especially for online/pick up orders. Despite this, I have to shout out their bakery, which is excellent! I love baked goods and they are a great go-to for celebrations or breakfast pastries, especially for being associated with a grocer. read more
