    32. Popcorn Crisp Fried Chicken / 香酥雞
    Katie C.

Food came out pretty quick on Tue evening. Solid popcorn chicken, loved the crispy batter! I ordered the mild spice bc I was scared that it would be too spicy, however, I will considering upping the spice next time bc I needed more. Portion size was filling. Wished they added a basil leaf in my bag bc I think it adds a lot to the overall flavor.

I got the fresh milk brown sugar boba drink. My cousin got the Milk Tea and my brother got the Strawberry slush. We all liked our drinks. The store also gives out free samples!

I love the crispiness and spiciness of their chicken popcorn with added chili powder and salt n' pepper, so perfect! :) The slushies were so refreshing. The lady let us try the dried fruits their selling. I ended up getting the dried strawberry, yum! Also, the spicy beef jerky is a must try! Will surely look for their store in San Francisco. :)

I worked down the street and was happy to come and grab a Tea and as soon as I walked in and the two ladies were not helpful and I had to ask to be helped. They had a list of fun juices & Teas with fruit in them and foam . All I was looking for a green tea over ice . All the fancy drinks were $5.24 -5.45 each and the lady at the counter made up a price and charged me $7.25 I told her are you sure all I want is a simple tea, they didn't even sweeten my tea. I was offended and will never return.

Iced grass jelly even though the menu said HOT grass jelly and she goes... you didn't tell me you wanted it hot.

I was in the area and decided to give this place a try. The boba shop is new and clean. They also sell Chinese beef jerky and dried fruit. Two ladies working there. I took 2 stars off because I ordered #4 Hot Grass Jelly Tea and she handed me an iced drink. I really wanted a hot drink given it's a raining day. When I got the drink I said isn't this supposed to be HOT? She goes... you didn't tell me you wanted it hot. UM.... But the name of the drink is literally "HOT grass jelly tea," it should be hot by default. If I wanted iced, then YES, I would say I wanted it iced. I was like your menu is misleading because it says it's hot, why would I need to tell you that. She didn't even offer to switch the drink for me. I was annoyed and in a rush to leave. Didn't really want to argue. The drink itself was sweet. I told her I wanted to be less sweet but it was still sweet. I won't be coming back.

Good place to grab a quick bite. Only tried the food this time. The rice bowls looked clean and portion was pretty big. But pork chop was pretty dry and the braised pork was too peppery. I did enjoy their popcorn chicken and fried tempura though. Crispy and flavorful.

I drove past this place pretty much twice daily heading to and from work since it changed from an herb store to a boba, shaved ice, and fusion-ey entree place. This past weekend, my middle kid had a soccer game at the adjacent middle school, and my youngest son and I walked over to get him something sweet. The menu is pretty straightforward with lots of pictures. I couldn't talk my son into a shaved ice with sweet milk, mango and red bean... so he went with the #6 brown sugar boba milk tea. My number one boba nai cha Felt a little lonely, so I ordered up their "French sandwich," sort of a bánh mì looking sandwich. A cursory inspection of the menu indicated that they had other items from various Asian cuisines and cultures. My son and I sat down to enjoy our drinks while we waited for the sandwich. The store is new and clean, the staff was friendly without being overly chatty, and there's a pretty little orchid display for your viewing pleasure while you wait. The sandwich turned out to be very tasty, but was missing my favorite ingredient: sliced fresh jalapeño peppers, or at least something spicy. This even had that nice kind of mystery meat crunch thing, head cheese maybe? ... tendons and tripe and knuckles and stuff like that. All the stuff a growing boy like me needs. And I'm not even being facetious, it was really good. It just needed some nose-running kick spice to make it all work. As previously noted, this is literally across the street from a middle school, so I can only imagine that at dismissal, the place is probably pretty busy with polite but decidedly middle school adolescent kids. If that sort of thing bothers you, you probably have no business being on First Avenue around 3 o'clock in the afternoon on a weekday anyway. But if you are, definitely give this place a look.

I was craving boba and snacks after my run and I came across Fresh Delicious. 1 mile away from Arcadia Park. on First and California. It's a small mom and pop shop, there are 2 sweet ladies working, 1 always in the back making the food. Another 1 at the register taking customers' orders. I ordered the 2 snack combo with popcorn chicken and fish cake. For drink, I got the hot grass jelly milk tea with 25% sugar. Popcorn Chicken and Fishcake: very good texture and crispy. The flavors are very balanced. I got it with medium spicy. Portion is pretty good for $9.59. You can alsp get 3 combo items for the same price as well. Grass Jelly Milk tea: my first time trying it and it's really good. The grass jelly tasted very fresh and soft. I did get 25% sugar but I felt like it's still on the sweeter side for me. overall, the drink tasted very delicious. Service is great, I came around 8 pm. not packed and they close at 9 pm. I was greeted with right away and the 2 ladies are so friendly. Plenty parking on the street. They also have shaved iced and other taiwanese desserts. I do want to come back to try the rice dish. they look really good!

Yummy! Recommended! Staff is friendly. Currently they offer a $110 gift card for $100 to spend at the store.

I was craving for some Taiwanese food and this was one of the very first few places I saw on Yelp nearby that accepted card(I have no cash) and still open at 8pm. The shop is just on the corner of California St and 1st Ave next to the water shop, you can't miss it! Plenty of street parking and two spots directly right in front of the stores but one of them is 24 minute only. Very friendly people there, I was greeted right away with kind smiles. I kind of felt like it was expensive that I got two snacks togo(popcorn chicken was the same price as 3 fried sausages) and a boba milk tea for dinner for just me(about $25 for the 3 items) but it's my bad for not seeing they had rice bowls and that could've just filled me up probably. They walked up to me with my order instead of calling me over to get, which was very nice of them to do. Boba milk tea was not bad, good chewy boba. The popcorn chicken was a fair amount portion but I was hoping for more basil, just a small speck of basil on the bottom of the bag. The fried sausages were thick and juicy. At first I was disppointed cause the picture on the big menu had me thinking I would get more than 3 sausages, definitely worth though. Food is good, I would come back and I'll still recommend for anyone craving some Taiwanese snacks/drinks.

Their peach slush is really good and refreshing! The popcorn chicken was good too. It had good basil and garlic flavor. Can't wait to come back and try their other food. This place offers classic Taiwanese bento boxes such as braised pork over rice, snacks such as tea leaf eggs and other Asian food varieties like Vietnamese banh mi sandwich and Japanese style rice bowls. Can't wait to come back and try these other options. There is free street parking outside. It can get busy in the afternoons around 3pm during the weekdays because it's located across from a middle school.

They also closed around 2pm this particular Saturday and that didn't coincide with the store hours. There's a self serve sauce bar with chili oil, vinegar, etc. the food is authentic but nothing to write home about. I would like to return and try the mochi sometime

I was disappointed when we first got there because it was only 3 o'clock and they said that they were already out of the purple sticky rice for the item.I wanted to buy... They said they had it in white rice, so I thought, well, since we're already here, let's try it. The girl on TikTok said she wished she would've added an egg, but because we had a language barrier. I couldn't explain to her.I wanted a Fried egg,( I wanted it Wet) she gave me a hard boiled egg and it was an extra $2.50... I was pretty disappointed in this Salted white rice roll. Everything seemed old and soggy it was wrapped in plastic wrap, wasn't hot...and it was supposed to have a Chinese fried donut inside with a very crisp bite to it. It wasn't...it was soggy and flat...very chewy...And also The rice on the outside was not crispy/crunchy at all... Nothing really tasted fresh.... And that soy milk drink, everyone has their own preferences and tastes, but I did not like that soy drink at all... It tasted like wet hay/grass... And it was $4.95... she did ask me if I wanted it hot or cold....So I guess they serve a hot version, My son Bobby said that he liked the taste of it, but I noticed after the first couple of sips, he didn't drink anymore, I asked him did ne want it,he didn't...so i ended up throwing it away.... I also bought an order of the soup dumpling, And I was very disappointed in that because the dough that was around it was too thin, and when you picked it up it ripped, so you didn't get a soup dumpling. You just got a small piece of meat inside the dough. Because all of the juice dumped out when it ripped. Not a single one of them was lifted out onto the spoon, and the meat inside was a very small piece.I should've taken a picture of it , but I was just done with it... for $25.00 +tip I WONT BE BACK. I think i'm going to try the,'Yi Mei" in Monterey Park... I heard there's also one in San Gabriel. I hope I could find purple rice roll and all of its crispiness like that girl in the video , because this place was nothing like that!!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND. ALSO I TOOK PICTURES ... of the little cakes and snacks that they had for sale on a counter. We didn't buy or try any of them.FYI

This one was good and the only thing I would come back for. They had various stuff dumplings. The pork dumplings were a little bland. The beef dumplings were good but were not out of this world. They use store bought skin, probably to cut labor and cost, but honestly there are better options around the area. This is a casual spot. The service was limited. We had to ask for things more than once. They do have a self service sauce station for your dumplings sauces.

All of the dishes tasted so good. It had a comforting feeling to it. My favorite was the pork chop fried rice. The fried rice had wok hei to it and was flavorful. Nostalgia dish here was always their JiaoHuo JiaoHuo / Spicy Combination Marinade. We asked if we could change any of the choices, and were told yes as long as it is one of the items from the 5 included (Pig Ears, Bean Curd, Seaweed Knots, Beef Tripe, and Spicy Beef Tendon). Mom & I always add our own vinegar and chili oil to taste and it tastes just as I remembered. We also tried: -Half Tendon/Half Beef Noodle Soup, this was good. We took out the noodles so they wouldn't drain all the broth. Broth tastes good, and decent amount of beef. -Cucumber appetizer was okay, it's just salted. They use Persian cucumbers that were fresh & crunchy. -Shanghai Style Pan Fried Rice Cakes, this had good toppings but the rice cakes themselves didn't have the wok hei of the wok and were a bit dry. -Stinky Tofu (fried) is a skip for me. After my recent trip to Taipei again, the ones here were no bueno. It needs the pickled cabbage, and the garlic soy sauce. They weren't really stinky either. Service was a little slow with the lunch rush. One unisex bathroom available that was fairly clean. Plentiful parking in shared parking lot with the plaza. Will be back again to get my JiaoHuo JiaoHuo cravings satisfied.

Grab a basket of the fried sesame scallion bread and get something saucy to dunk it in. Green Onion Sesame Pie: This prized basket of northern-style flatbread is probably what most people here are waiting for. The fried bread is cut into wedges with a crispy crackling exterior topped with fragrant sesame seeds. Inside, the bread layers are soft, pillowy, and bursting with green onions. Of course, it was the first thing that arrived, so we each voraciously ate a wedge on its own. Fish Filet with Bean Sauce: If you have enough self control, wait until they bring out the fish. The sauce is thick and savory. There's so much flavor from the minced garlic, fermented black beans, and scallions. The silky sauce seem to find a way into all the nooks and crannies of the stellar bread. Fried Red Yeast Pork Belly: The cooking technique of this dish is pretty cool. This is like a crispy char siu. The rich pork belly is marinated in red yeast rice wine for its aromatic flavor. It is coated in tapioca flour and then fried. The edges are crispy and kind of chewy while the meat is juicy and tender. Tofu Skin, Soy Beans, and Mustard Greens: The super thin tofu sheets and soy beans are a Shanghainese classic. With finely chopped mustard greens, the dish is a delightful study of textures: crunchy greens, chewy soy beans, and snappy from the tofu skin. The flavor is neutral and nourishing. I honestly didn't know what to expect when we ordered this dish. I thought it would be more like a braised dish. But man was I surprised.
