This business was deceitful about services & dishonest about prices. I KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LAUNDRY & DRY CLEANING! I'm disappointed in older lady (supposedly person "in charge") lying to me about whether my husband's shirts could be laundered vs dry cleaned. After 20+ yrs of taking hubby's shirts to cleaners, I know which shirts need expensive dry cleaning process or thrown in washing machine, starched & pressed (aka laundry). I turn in about 8-10 shirts every couple weeks & always request, "Laundry." The price runs between $2-3 a shirt, but I have found some places as low as $1.50 (usually requires specific day of week, coupon, or special). My former dry cleaner told me most items can be laundered unless care tag states, "Dry Clean Only". Unfortunately, default method is dry cleaning unless you request another method. Back to my experience- This older lady took 8 shirts from me. I said, "Laundry only with medium starch." She pretends to read care instructions on collars & divides them in half. She said half of them need to be dry cleaned. Important side note: All these shirts are made by same manufacturer & same type of material. How she came up w/ half of them needing dry cleaning from "reading care label" was a JOKE!! Now, I could see how she could get away with this if I had originally sent in my child or another person who doesn't know about these specific clothes. But, she flat out lied to the wrong person! I told her they didn't need to be dry cleaned as I have had them laundered several times. Then she said, "They will be the same price whether laundry or dry clean." I knew dry cleaning was more expensive, so I thought they were going to give me the laundering price. I asked price & she said they would be $7 each. I about fell over!!! I told her I have never paid that much & knew the shirts wouldn't withstand the dry cleaning process because it leaves this horrible sheen from the chemicals (learned from past mistakes). I told her I would take them to another cleaner in town since she wouldn't take them as laundry. At this point, she tried to change her story & mumbled something incomprehensible. She wanted to take the shirts, but my mind was immediately changed. Getting caught lying to potential customers for more money is not a good way to start off a business relationship. Therefore, I headed to a locally-owned, honest, small business, not a franchise. I told the new place about my incident w/ Fresh Cleaners & we checked the care instructions together. The shirt collars all read, "Machine Wash..." The new place agreed Fresh Cleaners could have ruined the shirts by dry cleaning. Even more disheartening, they also said Fresh Cleaners would have laundered shirts, but charged dry cleaning prices. They said it's an unfortunate, but common complaint about that place. read more
