This was my first visit to Fresh Chef! The staff was friendly and even though their was a heavy lunch crowd - the food came out quickly! I ordered the Portabella Mushroom Sandwich and it was delicious!!! I had the grilled asparagus and the Burgundy mushrooms/onion and as an appetizer we had the fresh guacamole!! We were at this restaurant before and had issues with both entrees (the shrimp was not deveined and the gravy on the mashed potatoes was warm but the potatoes were ice cold), but my hubby loves the meatloaf so we thought we'd give it another try. I understand restaurants are experiencing staff shortages, but the restaurant was not busy. We waited quite a while for the server to come to greet us. He was not friendly and did not introduce himself. They delivered food to our table that didn't belong to us. They took the plates to the right table, but their order was incorrect. After 45 min and counting, we still didn't have our food, including a starter salad. They finally brought out two entrees but one was completely wrong. The manager came out to ask what the order was and said it wasn't what they inputted. The food was good once we got the right stuff so i gave it three stars. Burgers look phenomenal. I only saw them and did not order one. The only reason I can not give a 5 out of 5 is the experience with dessert. Avoid the flavorless cheesecake. Not at all good. The soups are the thing that draws me back. I'm a lover of soup. Last night I had spicy corn chowder and a house salad with their homemade creamy garlic salad dressing. This place has the best KALE salad and I don't even like kale so it's pretty much a miracle and an easy eat for me to get a nutritious meal. And it's so affordable. My sister told me about them so I tried their salad against my better judgment and I'm so GLAD I did. It's a weekly stop for us. Do your body a favor and try it!!! I'm not sure what all the hoopla is about this place, it's OK but nothing special. Their chicken salad sandwich and blackened chicken sandwich are decent and the salads are good at lunchtime. A friend really loves their scallop appetizer and French onion soup. At dinner the prices are a bit steep and the service is not always great, especially if you are with a large group. A friend asked about the bbq ribs and was told they were beef so he decided to try them...when they were brought they were pork spare ribs. The portion was small and he left hungry. We haven't tried their breakfast yet so can't comment on that. From the minute we entered the door, we felt welcome. The staff was enthusiastic, accommodating, and knowledgeable about the menu. My mother ordered the grilled salmon with cilantro rice, which was amazing. Though I do not typically order salmon, I had a taste and this was on a different level! I chose the Cajun pasta with the blackened shrimp, also a winner. Our server, Brice, was personable and made sure we had an enjoyable experience. I've only like the in house smoked salmon here but this establishment in the Denver, NC location is less then impressive. The untrained staffs are unprofessional and has very poor customer service. The last few times has been nothing but issues after issues. Double billing, meals and drinks that was improperly placed and misplaced.
