Tried this place on a whim with a few friends of mine & my husband. The food was soooo good. As an appetizer, we got the duo dip platter -- it was guacamole & pimento cheese with chips. The guac was fresh and delightful & the pimento cheese was savory. My husband got a beef stir fry with cilantro rice & I got the shrimp & grits. UNBELIEVABLY DELICIOUS! Our friends' food was beautiful and tasted just as good as ours! I can't remember what they ordered. The service was prompt; our drinks were refilled in timely manner and masks were worn. The servers also held the doors open for us every time we entered and left the building although they didn't have to. Prices are reasonable for the amount of food you receive. This had been one of our favorite places to eat, until the past few weeks. We typically visit once per week. The first issue was that we waited for 30 minutes for our food, then the waitress told us that it never got put into the computer. The food was delicious and we thought it was just a glitch. We visited again last night and it was much worse. I asked for soup as one of my sides, but never got it. The person (I think it was a manager) who brought the food never apologized or tried to make it right. Even though I paid for a full meal, I never got it. During the meal the waitress picked up my cup to fill it up, but never filled it and sat it back down. As we got near the end of the meal, she took my glass from me before I was finished with my meal. So I never had a drink for another 10 minutes of our visit. The waitress apologized for the drink issue and said to make up for it she took our drinks off the bill. But we were all drinking water, so there was no charge for water to begin with. It has certainly changed a lot here and I believe it's time to find a new regular place for our family on the weekends that still has decent service. read more

This place is always spot on, I went before the shutdown and again since they've opened. They are keeping empty tables between parties and the servers wear masks and keep a distance when taking order. Now let's get to the food. I keep going back to the blackened salmon salad with their garlic dressing. It's just really really good. The salmon is cooked perfectly and the greens are fresh. My son always gets the kids Alfredo and it's his favorite. I've tried a lot of stuff on the menu (bites of others food). And when I took it back the manager, Shawn, he offered no apology and said that's not what it looked like when he put it in the bag. Food was perfect. Grilled salmon was cooked perfectly and tasted great served with fresh steamed broccoli. Was an excellent choice. Ordered the chocolate brownie ala mode which came out in a huge bowl that it took both my wife and I to finish. Thought the menu prices were very reasonable based on the super food quality. We sat at the bar where we were able to watch the game which was great. Raegan served us and she was amazing. She provided great service while taking care of all drink orders for the whole restaurant. Raegan made my wife a Manhattan that was maybe the best she ever had. Tonight was our first night trying Fresh Chef in Hickory, I was so excited to get our food. We ordered Takeout. When we got home and looked only 1 out of 3 dishes were correct. We ordered the Grilled Salmon (which was 20$) and we were wondering why the portion was so small and quickly realized we didn't receive the broccoli that says goes with it on the menu. I had ordered the Chicken Sandwich and when I was reading the menu I thought it was going to have pineapple on it and barbecue. When I opened the box it didn't which was okay but I had also asked for a fried Chicken sandwich instead of Grilled and the chicken was grilled. Which I don't really prefer grilled chicken but again it's okay. I had called up to Fresh Chef and told them what had happened and whoever answered the phone had tried to tell me that the Grilled Salmon doesn't come with broccoli but if you look on the menu it clearly says Broccoli then (Gluten Free). I had told him about my Chicken as well and he said well I'm sorry for everything that was messed up, I was like okay and the phone call had ended. Just not what I was expecting.... read more

We were given adequate time to look over the menu without feeling rushed. Started with a soup. Both the husband and myself were satisfied with our choices. He got creamy potato soup. I had the French Onion. My only complaint with my soup was that it was rather salty tasting, but I was okay with it. For our entrées he got the Ribs and I got a 12 oz Black and Blue Ribeye. Host had her back to us and kept her back to us for several minutes, only turning around when another server noticed that we had been waiting. She finally took us to our table; where we proceeded to wait for 10-12 minutes more with no server coming by to even introduce themselves to us.
