We enjoyed our dinner at Fourk. We did not have reservations and initially were seated at a table underneath the air conditioning unit and it was freezing . The waitress could see that my teeth chattering and promptly suggested that we move tables and they adjusted the temperature. Much better! For Fri is we had an old fashioned and a lavender margarita which were well made. We like to try different things for dinner do we shared the Mediterranean trio, a summer salad and the Fourk chop. It was so nice of them to split our entree for us. Everything was very good especially the sauce on the pork chop and the yucca fries! Our server was excellent and took the yo e to chat with us. Forked in Hickory exceeded our expectations as we explored high end cocktails for our wedding. Although the Hugo Spritz wasn't on their menu, the staff was more than happy to accommodate our request, and it turned out to be absolutely delightful a drink we ultimately chose for our wedding. Additionally, the espresso martini also offered phenomenal flavors which we decided on for our second wedding cocktail. We also tried their take on a French 75. The ambiance was both sophisticated and relaxed, making Forked an ideal spot for a special date night. While we only tried the Caesar salad, which was fresh and satisfying, the rest of the menu looked exceptional, and I'm eager to return to explore more of their offerings. Fourk continues to be our Hickory favorite. The new Fall 2025 menu has some new offerings and keeps some longtime favorites. The 4th Street scallops were an instant hit for me. Patrick provided the excellent service we have come to expect at Fourk. I can't write a review without mentioning the blackberry wine cake, it's a perennial favorite and even if we don't have room for dessert we always get it to go. Overall ok. But service is slow when not busy and food was good but priced a bit on the high end to the type and quality. May not go back. We went early around 530pm. Place was empty but took forever to get drinks and food. Service for waiter was just ok. We had ahi tuna appetizer which was good. Pork chop, not so and duck breast good but only one piece. First of all, let me start by saying how excited I was to try this restaurant. The food was the stand out. My husband doesn't typically like food with random ingredients, but he raved about everything he ate. So for me that's a win. For me, my mahi wasn't edible because it tasted like the grill, but the underneath shrimp and mussels were amazing! Our server was so sweet. I wish I could remember her name, she was truly lovely. The decor was very clean and simple, but it was quite loud. My husband and I had a hard time making conversation. My main issues was my first impression. We walked in at 7:45 for our 8:00 reservation. I was greeted by the hostess and she was looking for us a table when, I'm assuming the manager, tells her while we are waiting, that I was wrong and I did not have a reservation. Since you do voicemail confirmation, I kindly told her that I have a voicemail confirming and said the name of the girl who left it. And she just looked at me and said "well she wasn't feeling well..." I was so uncomfortable with the whole interaction, that everything after that felt very off. Wifey and I went to see a friend's band open for Rehab so we had to pre-game lol . Fourk opens at 5 our reservations were for 5 but the hostess suggested a drink at the bar while our table was made ready - gee a drink before dinner what a concept so we agreed - a beer for me and a Lichee cocktail for the missus . She loved it !! We had the Lobster fondue as an app - delicious and had to take some home. Wife had the Honey-Chipotle salmon - loved it!!!! I had a special which was the ultimate food with a twist - grilled venison picanha steak with a Thai pepper sauce served with wagyu and bison sausage infused in couscous pearls fried potato's and an egg because why not? My husband made a reservation for our 28th anniversary and we were excited to try Fourk, since it seems pretty busy. We walked in at 6:20 (6:30 reservation) and checked in with hostess. She had no smile, or warm greeting. Just cold and unwelcoming. We felt like she did not want to be there. This should've been our clue for what was to come. We ordered two cocktails, two appetizers - crispy Brussels sprouts & "baked Brie", the seafood melange, minus the scallops & a rib eye steak. Cocktails were okay. Brussel sprouts were a greasy mess with some weird carrot topping on top. The "baked Brie" I put that in quotes because it's the weirdest, concoction I've ever seen. Not too hard to ruin that, but they did. It came in a flavorless, dark brown crust that looked like asphalt. There was no ooze to the cheese. It was tepid warm with EXTRA chewy, flavorless bread. I can see using crostini - to spread the cheese..never had anything like that before. After the apps and drinks, zero personality hostess..my hub and I were thinking, "wow, what's next?" After over an hour, our entrees arrived. Our server muttered something 50 mins in, that the "kitchen was working hard on our meals" then he quickly left. Husbands steak arrived looking charred. No steak knife - we had to flag down the server who started talking about mashed potatoes ??? My dish, the "seafood melange" was the grossest, tasteless, overcooked pasta dish I have ever had in a restaurant. Pretty sure the recipe is this: boil pasta until it's mush. Boil shrimp until it's white rubber, ZERO seasoning, zero garlic, zero anything to make it resemble a restaurant seafood pasta dish. Add 1 tsp of tomato sauce, a gallon of water, a sprinkle of micro greens and there's the "seafood melange." I couldn't eat it. Server took it away & plopped down the menu I said "no thank you." Manager came by table - "comped" the dish. (I didn't eat it). We spent over $100 & left starving. Funny - in looking at the reviews - another person wrote pretty much the exact thing I said about the Brie app & disgusting pasta dish. I'm not sure how this place is busy. $100 - anniversary dinner, left hungry. Olive Garden is a Michelin star restaurant over Fourk and they obviously don't change how the food is cooked if over 2 years ago, same descriptions of the tasteless pasta. Located in Viewmont, Fourk is one of the nicer new American restaurants in Hickory. Fourk has several seafood offerings, nice cocktails, and clean decor. You can park on the street or in nearby lots for free. For heavier eaters, you may want to order an appetizer and/or dessert as the entree portions aren't overly plentiful. For me, the portion and quality was great. One dish we ordered (salmon) was a bit under-seasoned. Fourk has reasonable bottled wine prices and a private event room for larger groups. Good atmosphere but we ordered three burger plates and all 3 were overcooked. All three had different sauces when we didn't ask for any sauces, strange. The pork chop was excellent. We were Not told there was an extra charge for gluten free bun so not too happy overall. I had high hopes for this place because I had never been here despite living in Hickory for a while and had constantly heard people talking it up. After going there TWICE, it turned out to be a huge disappointment. The hostess was cold and unwelcoming -- definitely not an upscale vibe like some people say. We waited a while before being seated, and when we finally did, the table wasn't even ready. They had a few seats at the bar, but the bartender was rude, and telling us repeatedly some of the seats were 'reserved,' even though the bar is first come, first served. We ended up leaving after only one drink, feeling utterly unwelcome. We came back another night with a reservation, the issues worsened. We were excited for live music, but again they seem to be reserving things for god knows who and why. The food was underwhelming at best. Watered down cocktails and a crusty baked brie appetizer that was dry, flavorless, and like cardboard. Where is the cheese in this? The seafood pasta was bland, overcooked, rubbery and unseasoned. My partner's pork chop and rice were flavorless and tough for teeth, haha. We had to ask for a steak knife for a charred steak -- extra hassle. The service is inconsistent -- our waiter barely checked on us, and when we asked about the long wait for our entrees, we were told the kitchen was 'working hard,' but honestly, it didn't feel like anyone cared. The vibe here just felt off. To make matters worse, the manager was nowhere to be found when we had issues with our meal, and when they finally showed up, our problems were barely acknowledged and we were seen as nothing more than a hassle. After spending over $100, we left hungry and dissatisfied. I don't get why people are complementing the tenderloins and other junk here. Maybe people haven't been to better restaurants in big cities before? This place is overpriced, overrated, and definitely not worth your time. Maybe just momentum from hype is keeping it going? My thrice cooked duck tasted like it had been cooked in burnt oil. My husbands Prime rib was excellent. He loved his soup, too, while my house salad was just okay. I reordered the ahi appetizer as my main course. Just. Don't. You could live your entire life without this dish and never regret it, unless you have an insane level passion for Aoli mayo. Ambiance was ambient noise. We had to shout at each other to be heard, which everyone else was doing. It ended up being a silent, grim meal as we had to listen to the retired lawyer next to us using profanity as we described using his retirement to sue the F out of everyone who had ever offended him as his syncopantic wife repeated and endorsed his every word. Man I really wanted to like this place, but sorry it's just not good. Nothing was good except the service. The restaurant is nice, service is good, but the food and drinks are just bad. Nothing we had was good, especially for the price. We started with two drinks. I had a whiskey drink that was extremely water down and my girlfriend had a margarita that was mostly sugar. I then ordered a regular old fashioned and again they watered it down to the point it tasted like a drink that had been sitting around in ice for an hour. We started with the baked brie and a house salad. Salad was equivalent to what you get out of a premixed supermarket salad kit. The brie.... well it was like a tiny minuscule amount of cheese covered in a pound of thick overly sweet "crust". There wasn't even enough cheese to top the couple tiny pieces of bread that came with it. Honestly one of the worst dishes we've had. After that came out I had very little hope for this place. I just can't trust someone who put that out thinking it was good. I had the seafood pasta as my main course and my girlfriend had the scallops dish. My pasta, first of all was tiny for the $28 it cost. However to add insult to injury it was the blandest most flavorless pasta I have ever eaten. Literally the "chef" must have never heard of salt and pepper. It was boiled seafood in a reddish liquid. I could have had better pasta at the Olive Garden! My girlfriend's scallops were also tiny. The scallops were cooked well but covered in a "bacon" sauce that just tasted like sugar. The side was forgettable. Honestly this is the worst $100 meal we've probably ever had. We had to go get a snack elsewhere after this to forget about this place. We recently had a meal for the same price in the same area that was outstanding. I really don't see how this place has such high ratings. I don't like leaving 1 star reviews and I rarely do, but this place was just soooo bad and then to have the cojones to charge what they do. My husband and I went to Hickory for the holidays to be with family and decided to go out to dinner on December 27, I must say that the temperature was a bit cold. I ordered the special of the evening "Prime rib with chimichurri sauce", I was so excited to see the chimichurri sauce on a menu in Hickory; but much to my dismay my meal was cold, yes my steak was cold and was horrified to see my steak with chimichurri decorated with a tortilla. You can eat food with your hands and still have it be spot on with the flavor profile. My Avocado and Ahi Appetizer should be called A³. This appetizer is one of the best courses that I have had in a very long time. My wife also enjoyed what she ordered. We have been raving about our experience to anyone who will listen. I made a reservation 4 weeks in advance for 12 people for a 75 th birthday party. I asked for the back room and was told it was $500 to have the back room. I told the hostess no. I called the day before and asked to speak to the manager about the back room and the hostess told me the only way to talk with the manager was to email him. I asked again for the back room and she said she would pass it on. Upon arriving the day of the party were seated in the main dining room. The back room was empty and the lights were off. I guess my almost $1000 wasn't important to the restaurant. Food was ok but will not be going back and would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Went here recently after a long period of not going. Food was much better than I remembered and my college student daughter enjoyed it too. She ordered a gilled fish / beurre Blanc type meal and I ordered a Filet Mignon. Wine selection was good and appetizers, desert and coffee also were all very good. Service was good and attentive with no long gaps spent looking for an absent server like so many restaurants are now.
