It is a bar/restaurant that has clearly been around for a minute, with good food. We visited on a Saturday evening and the place was packed. You enter into the bar area, place your drink and food order at the "hostess counter". They bring your drinks to you and tell you where to sit. It was clean and comfy but new visitors should just be aware that is a relaxed "dive" bar with awesome steaks. The staff was nice and they had an acoustic guitar player for the evening that was very pleasant to listen to. We ordered the "Corn Ribs" that were really tasty. Our cheese burger and roast beef sandwich was really good. Even though we didn't order steaks those around us did and not only did they look and smell delicious the customers I asked about them said they tasted "excellent, divine, cooked perfectly". So it was worth the drive down and barren stretch of Rt 321 to find the place. read more

This was a great find on our short trip to Hickory. This is counter service with good food. Go to the counter, order your food, choose a table and the waitress will bring your food. They were very efficient. We arrived about 6:00. We ordered, received our food quickly, ate, and were out in 45 minutes. We didn't wait long, but 15 minutes later the line was to the door. I ordered a small ribeye. The steak was cooked perfectly. Small salad and red potato were nice sides. Yelper's never let me down, so thank you once again! Visiting my son and daughter in law in Granite Falls and we wanted to take them out for a steak dinner. So I jumped on Yelp and saw great reviews of the Angus Steak House. So, off we go and from beginning to end everything was great! My son and I both had the big ribeye steak and my wife and daughter in law had the small ribeye. The steaks were all cooked perfectly, the reds potatoes were a nice change from the traditional Idaho potato, and our tea glasses never went empty! This place seems like a hidden gem that only locals know about. It's was busy even at 4:30 people were waiting in line. Nothing extremely special just good flavored food. Not your typical steakhouse you walk in and go up to the counter and order your food. They have everything from hamburgers, hotdogs, to filet, and ribeyes. The steaks were cooked to perfection. The butter potatoes really hit the spot. The onion rings were crispy. The side salad is just ok they put a pickle on top and it made the whole salad pickley. Grab lunch with my lady Wednesday. Not to busy at 1230 which is about right. Thursday at lunch is crazy. Both got the grilled chicken sandwich with lettuce and tomato a little mayo, one fries and one chips. Food came out ( now this place is not a fast food restaurant, so it may take a little longer) . I remember the owner telling a customer because she had gotten impatient if she wanted her food quickly to go down the street to Burger King. It takes time with your food made from scratch. It was a laid back kind of day inside, which is the way we like it because at night it can get a little loud. Always enjoy this place and I know some people don't care too much for it. We were passing through Hickory and decided to use Yelp for help finding something other than chain restaurants. This place having 5 star reviews made us decide to give it a try. Before I go any further, the only sense I can make of the posted rave reviews is that the owner got 30 of his family /friends to write reviews because we found this place to be a complete dive, nothing close to a 5! We considered getting a ribeye... until the we discovered that they were $33/each! They couldn't tell us the Grade or size of the cut; but, for $33, it had better have been the best cut ever! We asked if they had baked potatoes or healthy sides. "No" was the answer. They seemed particularly put off when we asked questions. But, they have no menus, only a board at the checkout counter that doesn't clearly spell out what exactly the options are. We finally settled decided to settle for a hamburger. They were like $16 each and only offered American (processed) cheese... toppings were limited. So, after waiting 35 minutes for our food, it turns out that the buns were stale, the onion rings were burnt to a crisp and the fries while lukewarm, were of the generic frozen variety. Frustrated, I tossed the rings and returned the fries, reporting them as ill-prepared. The gal at the counter apologized for the long delay, stating that "they had to change the fry/onion ring grease" as the reason for the long delay. REALLY?!? So, what was our food cold??? Didn't make sense. I asked for chips as a replacement because we didn't want to wait around for another half-hour. She said "sure" then began to add chips to our bill. After I protested, she brought me about 8 potato chips in exchange for the burnt onion rings and cold fries. Within about 1/2 hour of eating at this establishment, I had the worst case of indigestion I have ever had in my entire life! I had to pull over to get some antacids to quell the pain and discomfort. Fair warning to anyone venturing off the beaten path... Do not stop here unless you have a ton of time to kill and if you have an iron stomach. BTW, I typically don't review the management (owner in this case) but this guy was unpleasant and aloof--even possibly bothered by our presence. IDK, maybe he didn't appreciate that my wife giggled while pointing to his "Trump 2024" sign.... read more

Food used to be pretty good, but not so much now. I ate there last night and had the rueben with onion rings. There was hardly any meat on the sandwich and the 5 small onion rings that came with it were thrown on my plate and had no onions inside them. Weird. Just rock hard, nearly burnt breading. This place is phenomenal, and honestly blew our mind. The food was great steaks were cooked to perfection, sides were good and fresh, and the mozzarella sticks are the best we've had in a restaurant. We get the cheeseburgers and they are awesome! Juicy with your choice of toppings (I usually get lettuce and tomatoes with mayo). You can get chips or fries with it. Often we will get a chefs salad and cheesebuger and split it. The salad is a serving and a half filled with crispy veggies and full of chopped deli meat and cheeses. My husband and I have eaten here several times now and had a great experience every time. One of the best places in town for a burger, if not the very best. We haven't gotten to try their steaks yet, however some of the other guests have strongly recommended their steaks as well, so we plan to try it sometime too. Last night they had live music playing, which I greatly enjoyed as well. The decor is nice and friendly and the place is quite clean too.
