We have been going here for a few years now. Usually, we go here for breakfast on Friday mornings but also go for dinner during the week. Breakfast: Food is good and simple and quickly served. Our server is always great and knows what we want to drink. Everyone is friendly and atmosphere is good. My only complaint is sometimes the tables are dirty which doesnt seem right since it is first thing in the morning. Dinner: Food is good but sometimes takes longer than normal. Service is good and prices are great. Chicken and dumplings are my favorite and all of the sides I have tasted are good. Would definitely recommend trying Parkway House for breakfast or dinner! read more

I have had my eye on this place since I saw it mentioned in a local Facebook group as having a good breakfast. It is a stand alone brick building that is not easily spotted from Springs Road. The decor on the inside is simple but nice. We were seated in a booth & waited on promptly. Our server was kind & timely. I was not impressed with the breakfast at all. I am giving three stars because the overall experience was pleasant but nothing to rave about. My friend & I thought the eggs tasted odd & neither of us finished our eggs. The waffle & bacon were okay. The home style fries were probably the best thing about the breakfast. I am interested in going back for lunch or dinner to give them another shot. read more

Every time I come to Hickory I try to visit a different place with my mom. She's been here before but this was my first time. The restaurants stays packed and offers breakfast, brunch, lunch, desserts and more. The staff are cool and the inside is large. They have a front area and back area for sitting. The food is basic nothing too special but it's not horrible. read more

I have ordered through DoorDash from Parkway House several times over the past couple of months and have not been disappointed. I love their hamburger steak with mushrooms, onions and peppers. They do not skimp on quality or quantity. Their mashed potatoes and gravy that is one of their sides is an absolute must have because not only are their potatoes yummy, that gravy can't be beat. I've also had breakfast there and it was most appetizing and very fulfilling. read more

As i sit here at the Parkway House, I'm hearing a lot of constant noise. The noise has not stopped since I got here over an hour ago. The same 3 waitresses gather in the center of the dining room and they never stop talking. If one leaves, it just gets louder. My waitress keeps giving me coffee out of a barely warm pot. Then returns it to the counter, not the warmer. The food is pretty good but not hot. This is par for the course. Ill be looking elsewhere. At $17 a plate, i can't afford not to. That reminds me, please Vote in Nov. if we don't get the Republicans back in the White House, I'm not sure even God can save us. read more

New to the area.... We found this restaurant and were we lucky!!! From the moment you walk in you are warmly greeted ., the food was excellent ( I admit, I'm a picky eater) Absolutely no complaints!!! The menu is super, the prices are reasonable., everything is super clean! Our server was Alex., she was awesome!!! Coming by frequently to check all was fine.... Advising on dessert ( THE BEST!!) Will definitely be going back whenever we visit Hickory and we might just make the 30 minute drive whenever we can't decide were to go in statesville ( wish they were local.... The food is okay it's seasoning is bland. The salt and pepper you see in the picture is from me. Many of the tables were dirty and it just didn't seem like they have stepped up cleaning with Covid. Sausage egg & cheese on toast is the only good thing I've ever gotten here. Everything I've tried for lunch is super bland, generic, cheap ingredients, and not worth the money. How do you even make a flavorless burger?!? Why are the hot dogs the most pitiful things ever?? The tater tots look grayish green. How is the club sandwich that bland?? I love this new addition to the Hickory community! Nothing fancy - just plain and simple southern food served by a cadre of friendly waitresses. The range of breakfast, lunch, and dinner options is fantastic whether you are a meat eater or a vegetarian. The entrées are very well priced and plentiful. The vegetables, while mostly fried, are still fantastic if you're a fan of southern food. I particularly like the fried okra, and the squash. When I want to eat healthy, I really enjoy the Greek salad! My 86-year old mother loves the range of chicken dishes and always has enough food left over for another meal. read more

Tried this place after hearing about it several months ago. Apparently this restaurant has been around a few years, not a very visible location, which in my opinion might hurt their business. I ordered country-style steak with mashed potatoes, green beans, and roll. My wife ordered grilled chicken with potatoe salad, slaw, and roll. My food was excellent and my wife felt the same. My turkey and dressing came out of the kitchen cold. The dressing seemed to be some extremely dry crumbled up cornbread that the turkey was laid on top of. The sides were barely warm, and by the time they took back the turkey and microwaved it, the sides were cold. Yes, that's right, they took the cold turkey plate and put in a microwave to warm it. I must admit though, I have had better turkey and dressing, microwaved from a frozen box than Parkway served to me. I made two trips to this place at once, my first and last. read more
