Had a very satisfying experience here for lunch today. The pub was almost full, but we lucked out with lots of convenient street parking. At the time we arrived, it was self seating, but we found a table easy and a waitress came up immediately. She was a lovely lady, polite and efficient. She apologized that the pub was short staffed but any extra wait we had wasn't noticed. My husband had the 1877 Cheeseburger with Coleslaw. The burger was super juicy and flavorful. The coleslaw was good. I had the Buffalo Bomb and paid a little extra to have it as a wrap. It was So Good. Stuffed full, and the wrap was tender. Saucy but just the right amount of sauce. I had the White Cheddar macaroni and cheese as my side and it was satisfyingly good. Honestly, walking in? I had no idea what I wanted to eat. But what I ordered and ate was exactly was I was wanting. Hah! Even the portion sizes were just right and priced very appropriately. The bar portion of the pub looked quite lively and there was an upstairs that I wasn't able to check out. The bathrooms were one-seaters, but were roomy and accessible and very clean. Nice older bldg. Nice waitress, Food poor. Onion rings were doughy, like it was battered in bisquick. Yuck. Hand cut chips were oily and not crispy, only flavor was of oil. Sandwich "bomb" was not good. Flattened in a panniy style press. Bread boring. We were very disappointed. read more

Walked in for Dinner, sign said seat yourself. We went & sat down as a party of 3 at a table for 5, which was only options for open/clean tables. We were asked to move tables to a different table as the table we were at was reserved. The other tables were dirty & needed cleaned off. Boneless wings were great - NOT frozen bricks of imitation chicken. Pub chips were good... maybe have option to add like Cajun seasoning or something would be awesome. Would absolutely eat here again when in Conover, service was great at the bar seating. read more

Nice place, friendly staff, good food. We did apps the other night there. Their fried pickles are fantastic with their homemade ranch dressing. We also had their spinach and artichoke dip and house chips. The dip could have used a little more seasoning to help balance the flavors as it seemed to be heavy on artichoke flavor. I'd expected fairly standard quality bar food, but I was mistaken. I didn't expect the kitchen to bring their best on a Sunday evening, two hours before closing - and yet, they rocked it. I had the French Dip and pub chips. I was shocked at the quality of the food, simply impressive. The French dip was loaded and the au jus was among the best I've had. What would have likely been an afterthought at many places, the pub chips are well salted and fried to perfection. Their take on an old fashioned was fine, no-name bourbon (or at least one I haven't had enough to recall by taste) and strong. Seating was immediately available next to the bar, many TVs showing games. There's a staircase leading to (maybe?) a second floor or something but I didn't venture to explore. Definitely worth trying to see if the rest of their menu is up to par, and maybe the mystery stairs. read more

Stopped in after flying in for family visit, one of the few places open lunch and dinner time. Friendly staff, vibe is a little bare (why 4 stars & not 5) but the food & drinks are good. Started with a dirty martini, it was good. I decided on the Carolina burger with the house made chips. The burger was a delicious mix of chili, burger, coleslaw yumminess. A must try! After looking over reviews decided to give 1877 Pub a try. The food was amazing! The burgers and patty melt were great! Also tried the Gouda and bacon dip--AWESOME!!!! Drinks were also made very well, reasonably priced, and came out very quickly. Server and manager/owner (not sure very kind guy) made our visit perfect! The vibe was awesome. Clean, modern, good food. Drinks were said to be strong on reviews they def weren't and don't let the pics fool you they're mad small mason jars full of ice. Wings were good. Crab cakes were dank. I got the 1877 burger in a wrap it's dank. Pub chips were way salty. Fries were good, steak bomb was ok it'd be better with au ju sauce or somethin it was kinda plain and barely any mushrooms and onions. read more

What a great place to celebrate a birthday. We were able to make a reservation since we planned on having a large group. When we arrived our table was ready Great food, great atmosphere and great service. We've eaten here a few other times and really enjoyed it. After our meal the owner stopped by our table to make sure all went well. Customer service goes a long way with us and that's what keeps us coming back. As for food selection - one of our favorite appetizers - Gouda cheese dip - my husband always loves the burgers. I had the chicken quesadilla this time and it was good but they put it in a basket stacked and it was soggy on the bottom by the time I got to the last slice so would recommend they serve it on a flat plate next time. For a side love the drunken pintos. As locals we like to support our up and coming restaurants in the area. We will be returning again and would recommend it. Went for lunch. Atmosphere ok. I ordered a Carolina burger .... It was way overcooked and had so much chili on it it had to be eaten with knife and fork which was probably for the best since the bun was cold and hard. It came with fries which were cold and soggy. Asked for ranch dressing which was watered down and runny. Would not recommend at all.... It's just frozen heated food. read more

I've been here a couple of times now the first time I got the Turkey panini with a house salad. It was decent, but the salad tasted unwashed like there was still dirt on the leaves. The second time, I got the Buffalo chicken wrap and I probably won't be getting it again being that there was no sign of Buffalo sauce and the greens on it were wilted.
