We shared the fried pickles as an appetizer and they were delicious with and without ranch. I got my chicken wings fried and my favorite sauces were the Golden BBQ and Thai Chili. Ordered entree. We thought menu said two sides included. Waitress knew it only came with one. She also knew a second side was not discounted. She did not tell us. Charged my 82 yo sister with no offer of altering bill. I called manager. He was rude and said full price for additional sides. That is not usual policy. Usually a $5.00 side is cut down to $2.99 if with entree. Should have not left a tip, but we left 20%. Lunch cost $30 for terrible chopped steak, nasty baked potato and nasty baked beans. The cheese curds have changed, but not for the better. They taste as if this restaurant has moved away from actual fried cheese curds and moved toward just frying cheese similar to a small mozzarella stick. The inside is very melty now and a more oily. They have also moved away from dusting with Parmesan which was a really nice touch to the flavor profile. The wings are still good here. There were a little dry, possibly overcooked. Great food and service. They have a large menu with a ton of variety. The only thing I've ever ordered here that I didn't like was the grilled romaine salad (just tasted like smoke). They always have a lot of daily specials too. The last time I went I had the Thai chicken over rice which was more like an Indian curry but it was fantastic. read more

Our group of 20 was given the side room and a huge long table. And an open memo. The service was friendly and efficient. The atmosphere comfortable. And after a request to the waitstaff to compliment the cook, he came out to thank us personally. I went big and had the Angus RibEye as did a couple friends. Various sides were had. The steak was a bit fatty but that's where the flavor comes from .. along with some wonderful subtle seasonings that didn't get in the way of the natural flavor. all others seemed pleased with their meals as well. Soup came out and tasted like beef bouillon cubes in a cup of hot water. Salt city. Sent it back. Salmon arrived and the salad had croutons on it. I sent it back. We stumbled upon this hidden gem because most of the BBQ Joints we wanted to check-out were closed. I Googled good restaurants in the area and this came up. When we arrived we were graciously greated by Claudia. She then sat us and took our order. We ordered the "Garlic-Infused Beer-Battered Mushrooms". They were perfect so perfect we ate them all before I remembered to take a picture lol. They were seasoned right but not salty and fried well but not to hard or to soft were the batter would fall off. I ordered the "Tavern's Chicken Sole Pomodoro" I have NEVER had a grilled chicken this JUICY and TENDER at a restaurant. It was seasoned perfectly and not salty. I'd have to say this was just one of the best entrees I've had in a while in NC since moving here. I was extremely impressed!! I only wished it was served with linguine or fettuccine or maybe garlic mashed potatoes. Instead I had a garlic mashed potatoes cakes w/mushroom sauce (which was a bit salty but delicious) My mom had the Pulled Pork Plate which was also amazing. Last time we had a server named Teagan who went above and beyond for us. This past visit we were asked to leave a review and this was beyond the worst customer service I've ever received. Bartenders fighting with wait staff in front of everyone. Food was cold and unappetizing. Will not return. Teagan was the only reason we returned and she is no longer there. Don't waste your money. Management was under some influence when I asked to speak with him and he was unable to hold a professional conversation. The bartender (I believe her name was Sarah) tried to help the situation and she was obviously on something as well. The staff is friendly and accommodating - for instance after I was served a salad, I wanted bacon and the bartender brought a ramekin of bacon right out. The service staff is friendly and helpful, we had a work Happy Hour in the dining room,(20 people) the waitress was great. She suggested apps for sharing and did separate checks with pleasure.
