    Snapper and Cranberry Mule
    Kirsten B.

Getting our food was slow but our waiter was super great and kept checking in with us! We started out with yeast rolls and oh my YUM. I had a cranberry mule that was delicious. For our entrees my husband had a filet and sweet potato which he said was great. I was recommended the Snapper by our waiter. I expected a piece of snapper on a plate but no it was an entire experience! The snapper came in a bowl with chorizo, cornbread pieces, clams, some things I am not sure what it was but was delicious, topped with fried leak pieces and the waiter poured a broth over. Oh. My. Goodness. It was delicious. We will definitely be back! Such a cute spot for hickory!

Super classy ambiance. We arrived early but the restaurant still seated us. The chowder was so good. We ordered crab cakes and I wish there were more. Next time I want to try some wine because they had it in a fancy case. I recommend

We enjoyed our Sunday Brunch at this "slightly hidden gem" of a restaurant. Cafe Rule is part of the Imagine One Hospitality group that includes Mas Amor Cantina and Vintage House Restaurant, in Hickory, and Peppervine in Charlotte. I ordered the vegetarian Eggs Benedict while my wife ordered the same Eggs Benedict with Prosciutto. The salad between the two muffins was delicious. My wife enjoyed her Mimosa Flight. We both enjoyed our entrees. We are looking forward to enjoying outdoor dining on the patio when the weather is warmer.

The food was delicious. Staff was friendly and welcoming. I had the Pineapple Infusion x2, soup the day - Crab and Corn Bisque, Black Angus Steak Filet - Oscar Style (asparagus, hollandaise and crab lump on top) with seasonal veggie (sweet potatoes) and fries. Last but not least I had the Cast Iron Skillet Cookie with Vanilla Ice Cream for dessert.

    Caprese salad Pulled pork shoulder

Queens menu was excellent... The star was the pork shoulder with grit cake, but my Caprese burratta salad with perfectly grilled shrimp stole the show! Everything was delicious and perfect, service was on perfect timing too! The French rose... goes with everything!

Was in Hickory, NC to visit a supplier. Didn't go there with high expectations for good food but Wow was I mistaken! Staff was friendly and informative, the decor was fresh and the bathroom had nice towels to dry your hands off with. They offer nice lotions as well. It is a wine bar so check out the multi-page wine menu. Some bottle prices were too rich for my blood ($700+) so in the end ordered a local tap beer. Dinner started with melt in your mouth pork belly and fried green tomatoes. Followed by a grilled ceaser salad. Yes you read that right the salad was grilled and out of this world. We were told by our waiter at the start of the meal that when Paula Dean ate there she liked the salmon and scallops. So I ordered the scallops with risotto and I highly recommend it. 2 others in the group ordered the salmon, one steak and 2 for the grouper seafood special. Everyone cleaned their plates. When going out to eat I'm not typically a dessert person, especially after eating such a heavy meal, but the waiter brought the table a sample of the sea salt caramel popcorn ice cream. OMG if I ever have a chance to order my last meal on earth this will for certain make the dessert course.

Wonderful better restaurant to come dressed up or casual. Booths hold three across the side, or choose a table on the patio.

As for the type of food, there is a lot of typical Southern food on the menu. The service was great! The cashier was extremely friendly and brought wonderful energy to the restaurant. I got the Breakfast Burrito with Grits. I was not impressed by the burrito, unfortunately. I felt like it needed more flavor, either in the meat or elsewhere. I also think more cheese, specifically inside the burrito rather than on the outside, would have made it taste better too. Moreover, the burrito was soggy! I was not a fan of that. The grits were also a bit too watery for me. I had to add salt and pepper, along with the butter given to me in my order, to give it some depth. While I think that this is a lovely local restaurant, the food could be better. I would give it a 2.5/5 stars if I could.

Super quaint café serving both lunch and breakfast. I settled on the country fried steak, grits, biscuits and 2 med fried eggs. One kiddo had the same as mine, but hash browns instead of grits (after seeing hers the hash browns were the better choice). Another kiddo had 2 huge buttermilk pancakes. Hubby had the hart and soul omelet with grits. Loved the diner feel, but the AC just could not keep up with the heat. Parking is super limited so we parked on 4th and Main by the tracks. Price was suuuuuper reasonable! Service was great and friendly!

So we decided that we were going to give it a try. After looking at a menu and being approached by the host who gave us a brief introduction to the menu we were in for sure. We asked to sit indoors with it being a windy and somewhat humid day. They have plenty of outdoor seating with umbrellas. We were informed later by our excellent server, Ashlee that there is also seating upstairs! We forgot to take a tour! The decor is very chic, but not overly done. We were seated at a table, but booths are available as well. Even the women's restroom with chic. It needed to be picked up a bit but was nice. Our server Ashlee was excellent! Her upbeat personality and friendliness was in the 10 rating! For only being at the restaurant a couple of weeks I think her vibes will keep bringing customers back. But not only her vibes, the food is very good too! My friends were very happy with their main meal, me as well! I had the Chicken Panini and the companion (side dish) I selected was the Pan Fried Corn. Both very good! We did order shareables too! The Southwest egg rolls and the Charcuterie Board. We were very happy with both! I would definitely order them again. I ordered two alcoholic drinks. My first drink was called the Bees Knees (ginger, honey, lemon bourbon) and an Espresso Martini. Both were good. The ginger was very mild in the Bees Knees. We were quite full so we were not able to enjoy our desserts at the restaurant but did order them to go. We ordered the Crème Brûlée and Key Lime Cheesecakes to go. I enjoyed the Key Lime, a good balance of sweet and tart. A little perfumme for me but still good. The feedback on the Crème Brûlée, was ok. I didn't try it. When I visit this area again, I would surely come back here and try some other items on the menu. Parking in this area can be quite busy, especially on the weekends. We came during the weekday in July after 1pm. We had to circle a few times before we got a parking spot. Come early!

Who possibly wants to eat deep fried breaded grits? We ordered some apps and I forget what my wife and SIL order, but the overall opinion was just OK. No one wanted to return. When I went to use the bathroom about an hour later, they had heavily perfumed the restuarant.

Between the two of us, we've been here at least four or five times over the years, and I've also had several business lunches here. I genuinely wish I could say it's a restaurant I love and frequently recommend, because there is a lot to like about it. The building has character, the location is great, and the overall atmosphere is charming. Unfortunately, the experience itself has consistently left us underwhelmed. Every time we visit, the food is just okay--nothing particularly memorable or worth going out of your way for. The service has also been consistently slow, and on this most recent visit, that trend continued. We keep telling ourselves we won't come back, but after six to eight months we'll think, "Maybe we should give it another shot." Sadly, we usually leave feeling the same way we did the time before. What makes this especially frustrating is that the restaurant has so much potential. The setting is wonderful, and we genuinely want to like it. However, after multiple visits over several years, it feels like the food quality and service simply haven't lived up to the atmosphere. My biggest suggestion would be to focus on improving the consistency and quality of the food and to encourage the service staff to be more attentive, friendly, and proactive. A little hustle and hospitality can go a long way. At this point, there are simply too many other good dining options in the area for me to enthusiastically recommend Hickory Station. To those about to dine, I'd honestly look elsewhere.

The parking lot is a bit small, but there is a slightly larger lot next door that does not seem to boot people. The restaurant is pretty spacious inside offering booths and tables. There is also outdoor seating. The service was very friendly and quick! My friend and I got the Korean Fried Chicken Sandi and Little Italy. I was in between trying their Breakfast Tacos and the Korean Fried Chicken Sandi, but the server told me to get the sandwich and it was decent. I had seen some reviews on other websites that people were worried it was going to be too spicy because of the gochujang. But it is NOT spicy at all, at least not to me. The sandwich tasted kind of sweet, which is a taste found in gochujang. There was a lot of red onion slaw, which I would probably not add in next time. The chicken was pretty crunchy and tasted good, but I did not taste the marination in the meat. I got waffle fries with honey mustard for my side which tasted pretty good. My friend enjoyed her Little Italy sandwich. Overall, I would give this place a 3.75/5 stars if I could. For my first visit, I thought the food was alright.
