    Snapper and Cranberry Mule
    Kirsten B.

Getting our food was slow but our waiter was super great and kept checking in with us! We started out with yeast rolls and oh my YUM. I had a cranberry mule that was delicious. For our entrees my husband had a filet and sweet potato which he said was great. I was recommended the Snapper by our waiter. I expected a piece of snapper on a plate but no it was an entire experience! The snapper came in a bowl with chorizo, cornbread pieces, clams, some things I am not sure what it was but was delicious, topped with fried leak pieces and the waiter poured a broth over. Oh. My. Goodness. It was delicious. We will definitely be back! Such a cute spot for hickory!

Super classy ambiance. We arrived early but the restaurant still seated us. The chowder was so good. We ordered crab cakes and I wish there were more. Next time I want to try some wine because they had it in a fancy case. I recommend

We enjoyed our Sunday Brunch at this "slightly hidden gem" of a restaurant. Cafe Rule is part of the Imagine One Hospitality group that includes Mas Amor Cantina and Vintage House Restaurant, in Hickory, and Peppervine in Charlotte. I ordered the vegetarian Eggs Benedict while my wife ordered the same Eggs Benedict with Prosciutto. The salad between the two muffins was delicious. My wife enjoyed her Mimosa Flight. We both enjoyed our entrees. We are looking forward to enjoying outdoor dining on the patio when the weather is warmer.

The food was delicious. Staff was friendly and welcoming. I had the Pineapple Infusion x2, soup the day - Crab and Corn Bisque, Black Angus Steak Filet - Oscar Style (asparagus, hollandaise and crab lump on top) with seasonal veggie (sweet potatoes) and fries. Last but not least I had the Cast Iron Skillet Cookie with Vanilla Ice Cream for dessert.

    Caprese salad Pulled pork shoulder

Queens menu was excellent... The star was the pork shoulder with grit cake, but my Caprese burratta salad with perfectly grilled shrimp stole the show! Everything was delicious and perfect, service was on perfect timing too! The French rose... goes with everything!

Was in Hickory, NC to visit a supplier. Didn't go there with high expectations for good food but Wow was I mistaken! Staff was friendly and informative, the decor was fresh and the bathroom had nice towels to dry your hands off with. They offer nice lotions as well. It is a wine bar so check out the multi-page wine menu. Some bottle prices were too rich for my blood ($700+) so in the end ordered a local tap beer. Dinner started with melt in your mouth pork belly and fried green tomatoes. Followed by a grilled ceaser salad. Yes you read that right the salad was grilled and out of this world. We were told by our waiter at the start of the meal that when Paula Dean ate there she liked the salmon and scallops. So I ordered the scallops with risotto and I highly recommend it. 2 others in the group ordered the salmon, one steak and 2 for the grouper seafood special. Everyone cleaned their plates. When going out to eat I'm not typically a dessert person, especially after eating such a heavy meal, but the waiter brought the table a sample of the sea salt caramel popcorn ice cream. OMG if I ever have a chance to order my last meal on earth this will for certain make the dessert course.

Wonderful better restaurant to come dressed up or casual. Booths hold three across the side, or choose a table on the patio.

Took about an hour to get mediocre food for four people. Do yourself a favor, skip this place.

Not a fan. Weak drinks are a deal breaker for me. Usually indicates cutting corners methinks. I'm out.

This bar gets a lot of talk, but I honestly don't see the appeal. The crowd is mostly younger,…read morewhich is fine, but the energy feels weird--like everyone's trying to make something happen, but nothing ever does. The music isn't too loud, so you can hold a conversation, but it still somehow feels lifeless. Not much going on inside besides people standing around looking bored. But the real problem? The police are ALWAYS there. Every night out turns into a waiting game--how long before the blue lights pull up? It kills the whole mood. You can't relax, and it honestly feels more like a sting operation than a night out. Mediocre drinks, uncomfortable atmosphere, and too much drama for a place that's supposed to be "lowkey." Hard pass.

I was a loyal Dive Bar patron for a few months--after moving home from college, I was elated to see…read morethat Hickory finally had a good nightlife option. I recommended Dive Bar to all of my friends, and always mentioned how safe, affordable, and fun their business is. Tonight, a friend from college and I were excited to go to the Dive Bar--I hyped up the experience to her astronomically and assured her that it would be the best bar she'd ever been to (bonus points for the arcade games!). Sadly, upon entering, my friend was turned away for having a "fake ID." Her ID is in no way facetious--it is up to date, came straight from the DMV, and boasts the same birth date on her birth certificate. It is also the permanent plastic copy, not the temporary paper one from last year! Instead of trying to scan it or even electing to consult a police officer on the corner right outside the door, she was turned away, leading us to find another bar to give our business to for the night. Her ID is vertical, but this is because she renewed her license prior to its expiration on her 21st birthday--since she wasn't 21 yet and didn't want to risk having an expired license to wait and get a horizontal copy, she was given a vertical (but STILL VALID) driver's license. I am incredibly disappointed with our experience tonight, and will sadly have to rescind my doting on the Dive Bar in all future conversations regarding Hickory nightlife. Ridiculous!

I'd like to start off saying that it is almost impossible to find a place that will make an espresso martini in and around this area. I asked for one first thing and the bartender had no issues making one. I was pleasantly surprised. The espresso martini was SPOT ON!! DELICIOUS!! My husband enjoyed his coconut rum and Coke so much, he got two!! My second drink was off of their "winter cocktail" menu. This menu was unique and intriguing. I can't for the life of me remember the name of the drink I got, but I promise most people based on description would pass. DON'T pass!! The drink was served warm with wine, rum, and spices. It taste like an apple cider or a flavorful tea, I could not taste the alcohol, that makes it a true cocktail in my opinion it also makes it dangerous!! hahahaha!! Move over Long Island ice tea!! We both got burgers. Both flame grilled I believe. Cooked perfectly and soooooooooooooo good!! My hubby got the inferno burger. If you love spicy, This one is for you!! It's not for the faint of heart. I chose the American burger. It was everything you want in a classic burger and it's my new fav place for a burger!! I chose a wedge salad for my side. It was large for a side. I only wish they had charred/grilled the wedge just to step it up a notch. Hubby got the pub chips.... tasty and plentifu!! Overall food was delicious. The staff were very nice and attentive. The building is beautiful and their vintage adds, mural, and gargoyles are a delightful and unique touch to the decor. I hope to see more the next time we go. We WILL be back for more!!
