Came here in a whim. I saw their special menu returned a couple of days ago and sent it off to some friends. Last minute they wanted to go so why not?! I've heard good things about it! So here we are. The left side is a market and deli and the right side is a restaurant, serving American/Italian Foods as well as sushi!! Yes sushi!! Here's what we got: Oysters and shrimp cocktail. Large shrimp. I wished it had more of a shrimp taste but it didn't. However still solid and good. Oysters were Well-fleet. We were skeptical at first but overall fresh and good. Fried clams with belly plate which came with very crispy and delicious Frieda and slaw. No substitutes. The clams were very lightly floured compared to other places. Crab salad rolls also with fries. These were pretty big. Very fluffy on toasted roll with butter. We ordered 2 of these to share, each got half a sandwich. Twin lobsters with drawn butter. Also ordered 2 of Jesse so we each got a lobsters. Hard she'll packed Woth meat. And tamale! Lots of it. You bet I ate all the little legs too (minus the shell!!). Steamers - 2 pounds of steamers win an early corn and linguica. Big steamers and very little to no sand. Drawn butter and a small bowl to clean your steamers. It was good. The only thing we didn't order from the menu was the 6lb lobster. We had no room for dessert. Aside from the above a lobster bisque was ordered along with a Mac and cheese for the 2 kiddos. Would definitely love to come back for this special again. Side note - Restaurant seem to have been there awhile. Everything there was pretty old/vintage looking. The sushi chef was very busy getting those sushi orders out and he seemed to have a very good system in place with his work space. While we were there they had some plumbing issues. We only had 1 cup of water refilled while 3 cups were empty. We later found out the water was shut off because they were near closing time and a plumber was there to work. read more

We went here for drinks, raw bar, appetizers and sushi. Food and service was great. The server was very attentive. One note I would pass to the management they had 4 different "specials" menus going on. One of fall specials, another Sunday Patriots, and 2 early bird specials menus. It's probably confusing for your staff to have so many at once. Our server made a mistake on my wife's order from one of these menus but quickly corrected it when it was pointed out. I don't fault her though there's a lot of 4 lists of specials to keep straight amongst the regular menu which is massive. The prices here are great maybe because they also own the seafood market. I would definitely recommend this place. The only negative was the group of cranky old ladies seated behind us who literally complained about the everything last night. One of them belittled the server over corn. People like that are just nasty and should be embarrassed to behave that way in public. I wanted to say something my wife told me to refrain...so I did not. I hope one of those Karen's sees this though. Delicious dinner and can't wait to return. We started with the Ouster Rockefeller, which was not a favorite for us. It was a bit to heavy in the cream sauce and you couldn't taste the oyster. However the rest of the meal was incredible. I got the little neck clams which had great flavor and love the addition of the linguica. My daughter picked two sushi rolls that were a great combination. The special scallops were phenomenal. Served in acorn squash and with risotto. There was a great glaze on the scallops as well. The staff who worked there were very attentive and had great covid controls in place. We did eat outside which was a bit dark but very nice. We will be returning soon! read more

We stopped in on a rainy Labor Day afternoon, 2022. The place was not that busy-- maybe 25 or so patrons overall. They were definitely understaffed as our waitress also doubled as the bartender. We had the white clam chowder and shared the swordfish meal; both very good. Our Spring Fling margaritas were too sweet and had little alcohol. The seafood tasted fresh and there is a market next door to the restaurant where you can take home fresh and prepared food. The slow service took away from the good food quality level of the meal. I came here while I was staying in the area on business and loved it. They have a large menu, so if you like any type of seafood then you can find something you will like. Prices are very reasonable. Our service was fine (I saw a lot of people didn't like it). There was someone there playing live music, which was nice but we sat right next to the speaker so it was a little hard to hear. Last night my husband and I had dinner at the Fresh Catch in Mansfield. We have been eating here for 22 years and until last night had always had excellent meals. My husband had the Fresh Catch combo and I had shrimp tacos. He couldn't tell the difference between the crab and lobster Rangoons and said that Cumberland Farms has better spring rolls. He also said that all the shells were overcooked like crackers. My shrimp tasted like it had been cooked in oil that should have been changed or that the shrimp was past its prime. There were no lemons for the shrimp and no cheese in the tacos. The owner of the Fresh Catch reached out to me in a very classy way. I believe that my review was unfair. read more

While they have a large menu and a variety of drinks - seems they are trying to serve too many items. And yet - we asked for a tequila, they were out; we asked for oysters, they were out; we asked for crab cakes - they didn't bother to put in the order; the vegetable choice with my salmon was cole slaw? Was in the mood for seafood but didn't want to go far. Found this place and it was a mistake! Not to mention waste of money. Pretty expensive even for seafood. Anyways, I ordered to get it take out. Wait time was an hour on a weekday. When I picked up place wasnt even busy. Lazy much? Ordered some clam chowder and clam strips. The strips were good but the chowder was funky. Was something about it that was off. I only ate half of what I got, not that it mattered because I got food poisoning from it. Worst cases of food poisoning I ever had, mind you. Will never get food from here ever again after that horrid experience. If you get food form here, I would make sure you check it out before hand. The restaurant is casual and the service is quick & friendly. The Sushi Master has some crazy knife skills, you have to check him out!! Worth the drive!! Most seafood restaurants slice the fish soooo thin but here, you get a nice cut of fish for sashimi & sushi. The oysters from the raw bar were soo fresh, like straight from the ocean & onto your plate fresh!! And local!! The captain's platter is a mountain of fried seafood, 2 people & got dinner & lunch out of it. We went there for a birthday celebration and at first, I did not think much of the place as it had a very extensive menu. However I was quite surprised when the New England clam chowder was brought out and it was rather rich and full flavored. So I then ordered the lobster ravioli and although it was drowning in the sauce, that sauce tasted great and so did the ravioli. The other three dishes ordered by my friends were also spectacular based on their comments. Excellent find, my wife and I are always are looking for new places to dine and this was an excellent catch, no pun intended. This is a quaint little hole in the wall located in a strip mall surprisingly. Even though we like to sit at the bar which by the way was very comfortable, the booths and tables are well spaced for comfort. The bar tender we had (Jackie) was extremely Attentive and friendly. I had the Shrimp and scallops Alfonso-it was amazing. Huge scallops and shrimp and plenty to bring home. My wife had Alaskan King Crab, Sweet and tender. She also ordered the queen cut prime rib to go. And one more side note, their fish market is next door and I ordered Mako Shark. It was only $9 Lb. and since they don't normally carry it, they specially ordered it for me, and it will be here in only one day Overall and excellent experience, highly recommended. In the restaurant, there's many different types of seafood, including seafood pastas, sushi, fried seafood, etc. as well as other types of food. Service is generally pretty good. We brought an out of state guest along for our first trip to Fresh Catch. Our guest had the twin lobster; it isn't readily available for him at home. He was ecstatic and couldn't get over the price. We've been coming here for years. It's the typical neighborhood restaurant. Not the best, not the worst. Gets the job done when you don't want to cook on some weeknight. But these past couple of years have been different and our last visit prompts me to write this review. We don't mind up charges for substitutions - lien the extra 2.00 for onion rings instead of fries with a dinner. That's fine. There was an up charge on the price of a dinner on the menu so instead of 29.00 she said it was going to be 31.00. Why not change the menu price? The final straw was when we ordered our son a kids' meal. Same kids' meal we get there and my son always gets a soda. Well this time the Asian waitress charges us extra .75 for the cheese that already comes with the cheeseburger and 3.60 for the soda. Her rationale when we asked her was that it only comes with a juice or a milk! Never, ever has this restaurant or any restaurant for that matter ever up-charge because my child doesn't want milk or a juice. Everyone knows it's cheaper to serve soda than juice or milk!! My wife and I have been enjoying the Fresh Catch Mansfield location for years. The quality of the food is always amazing! That said, I need to give some feedback to the management . All in the spirit of improving the experience for all customers. I provide this feedback with all due respect. One thing that seems to be a perpetual "ball of confusion " is the seemingly Hit or Miss deal with Buck a Shuck oysters. BaS is often advertised the weekly specials email but when we arrive and ask before ordering we typically get the blank stare or the "no". Fresh Catch always honors the ad and the deal but I'm perplexed why it just is not a simple understanding when it is advertised? I it's usually 1pm to 5pm. Last week' s ad said 1-5PM DAILY. We went on Saturday and got the hand again . We presented the ad and they honored the deal as always (Thank You again). We were told that daily means week days , at least for now. Please, if there are ground rules just make them explicit in print in the weekly ad flyer/email . This is just a polite suggestion to take the small bit of angst out of each BaS experience. When I moved to Mansfield over 2 years ago, this was the first restaurant I went to. Maybe I am being a little biased since I grew up in Hawaii and my mom owns a restaurant herself, but I definitely felt the lack of freshness in seafood. I had a platter of steamed seafood and the seafood tastes like it was defrosted for some reason. The service left a bad taste, maybe because I went there on a weekend, but the wait was long, the food took forever, and the order came out wrong (I still ate it). I did eventually go back and try it again, this time for sushi it was delicious but again service lacked. It took again almost 30 minutes to get our sushi. Did I stop going? No, because I throw sushi parties and I did go there to buy fish to make the sushi...here's the deal...the sushi chef gets upset alot, if you do not call ahead at least a few days then you are not going to get sushi grade fish. Can I add that the sushi grade fish is WAY over priced? 30 bucks a pound for salmon...what are you kidding me? Eel for 30 bucks a pound...are you serious? I had no choice since my friends were coming over shortly but I would definitely never buy sushi grade fish from there again. I'll take the hour drive to Burlington to go to H-Mart thanks. read more

WOW!! What a pleasant surprise! My daughter was craving seafood and she searched restaurants near us at that time. The menu sound delish so we figured, lets try them. When we pulled up we totally judge the place by the exterior and was skeptical but their menu was to appetizing to not check it out. When we walked in it was cozy. We settled right in and looked the menu over, made our choice quickly. We ordered Scallops wrapped in bacon for an appetizer. They were delish! Main course my daughter ordered Fried Fish and Mash Potatoes and I ordered the Shrimp and Lobster Scampi. Both were made to perfection! Now the waitress on the other hand didn't make us feel welcome at all. "With it being our first time there" I felt like she paid more attention to the "regulars/locals" than us. I didn't see not one smile when she greeted us at our table, nor did I feel like she even wanted to wait on us. She had a totally different face when she came to our table, which kinda made me feel unwelcome. If you are in the mood for some seafood, but not in the mood to spend big bucks, then this is the place for you. The restaurant is simple, nothing too fancy, and jeans and hats are totally welcome. You will start off with a bread basket of corn bread, delightful! The waitstaff is very attentive to drink refills (soft drink refills are free), but on busy nights the overall service is mediocre. I'd suggest starting with a bowl of their excellent Clam Chowder (white,) or one of their spicy stuffies. The spicy one is loads better than the regular one, and not too spicy, just right. A good size stuffie for $2.95 I ordered the 1lb of steamed clams, which was only $8. The size of the clams were the biggest I've seen in my recent restaurants, but the broth was a little too salty for my taste. I would just eat them without redipping them in the broth. I also added a lobster tail for $6. The tail was a little small, but for $6, you cant beat it! The sushi bar looked beautiful, and the sushi boats were artfully done. Always looking for a great seafood restaurant and I've found one in Mansfield, MA. We have ordered takeout three times now and the food has been excellent. My wife loves the Boston Haddock; I had Pan Seared Scallops w/Asparagus Risotto and the White Clam Sauce w/Linguini ; both were outstanding. Alaskan Seafood Soup was delicious. Light cream and the seafood was fresh and the soup wasn't salty, seasoned light cream broth. I would definitely order that again. My entree which was the Lobster Cobb Salad was just ok. The lobster was ver fresh however the two large tomatoes weren't ripe and some of the lettuce was if poor quality. The price was good -$16, since it was a fair amount of lobster. My mom ordered the Baked Haddock with shrimp salsa, baked potato and steam cauliflower and squash. It was horrible. Fish over cooked to the point of crumbling and the potato was dried up. We had to send the entire meal back and she ended up with a bowl of the Alaskan Seafood soup. Went there for the Early Bird Specials. We both had smaller portioned size baked haddock dinner which was just okay, nothing special. Included soup or salad and a dessert. Soup was just okay as well. We were full and asked to take dessert home. We were told no, that you cannot take anything home from this special. So reluctantly we got the dessert, turns out It was a cup of canned banana pudding, like the kind that kids get in school cafeterias for lunch. Awful. Would not go back. Went into their fish and butcher shop which is attached. It reeked of bad fish odor. Been to many other fishmonger shops that NEVER smelled so extremely fishy. Tried First Catch for the first time. I'm not really sure where the negative reviews come from. We had stellar service and the sushi was excellent and the rolls were big. The bar was large and comfortable. Drinks were good and we got both the lemoncello and pineapple upside down cake for dessert. Both were fabulous! We will definitely be back. read more
