This company is legit! There's a reason they consistently have so many stars. I was referred to them by a friend. Our technician was fair, responsive/had good communication, and felt trustworthy. Initially our AC wasn't starting and it was easily still mid - high 70's out. It ended up being a power connection but he still came after 7:30PM from Serra Mesa, told us he wouldn't charge us since no repair was done and said to call him back once we had the power figured out. Vadim was our technician. Today he returned because we did want maintenance done on the unit and he was able to fix it for under $300. What we suspected to the problem was accurate. I wholeheartedly recommend them. Even sent a group text to my neighbors to share his info. As a bonus he was also great around our dogs. read more

The motor in our AC package was cycling on and off every 20 seconds. Vadim diagnosed the problem quickly, ordered a new controller circuit board and motor, and installed them. Mike came out and looked around for like 10 mins, gave us a price and showed up in 2 days. His crew of 2 started at 8am, ate lunch asked if they could work late, ate dinner and finished the job at 9:30PM. We had no previous central heating or air save for our old wall mount heaters. They removed the heaters, placed all the vents, installed the unit in the crawlspace above the bathroom installed the condenser outside and put a vent in our roof. All in one day with no mess. I purchased a condo in Hillcrest in May of 2021. During the home inspection it was discovered that the HVAC system was aged and faulty and in need of replacement. The previous owner agreed to replace the HVAC system and cover the entire cost, and so they procured the new HVAC system through Mikhail at Fresh Air Mechanical - and I'm glad they did. This is no ordinary HVAC system - the high rise building was built in the 1970s and uses a chilled water piping system to run A/C. This HVAC system needed to be ordered and manufactured (in Texas) and would take about 12 weeks to arrive. Luckily for us, the timing was perfect for our condo renovation schedule. Mikhail kept me abreast of the status of the order during production, and it actually arrived earlier than expected. He was very communicative and delivered on everything he promised. He and his crew showed up on time, were very meticulous and methodical with the installation, and were careful not to ding walls, scratch floors, etc. It was a very clean installation. Mikhail also replaced our outdated thermostat with a modern one. This past week, I used the heater for the very first time and discovered that it wasn't generating much heat. I called Mikhail, and he responded quickly to my request for an appointment. Mikhail arrived as scheduled, did a thorough examination of the system and was able to diagnose and resolve the problem. He also replaced our air filter. Mikhail is one of the nicest guys I've ever met in any contracting business. I called Vadim at Fresh Air Mechanical about a leaky air conditioner condensation drainage line in my ceiling crawl space. It was causing my ceiling to fall apart. Vadim came in a hurry that same day. A really hot day. He crawled around in my hot attic and fixed the leak. He explained what the previous contractor had done wrong and what he had done to correct the problem. And also did a couple of extra improvements to protect it from problems in the future. These guys are the best ... honest and very fairly priced. I thought I needed to have an A/C completely removed from my guest apartment. The heat pump was broken, and other companies told me that I needed to replace both the heat pump and air handler ... and pay a ton of money, too. (Alternately, they wanted a ton of money to remove those systems, if I could even get them to do it at all.) My brother used Fresh Air a few months ago, and had lots good to say about them. I called them on a Thursday ... they gave me a very reasonable removal price ... and they arrived early the next morning. Sweet! Vadim evaluated both the heat pump and air handler, and informed me that instead he could adapt a new heat pump to work with the existing air handler ... and do it all for a price I could afford. I agreed, as this was better than having the unit removed, per my original plan. Vadim and Andrew had the new unit within 30 minutes, and in another hour later it was working. They even reprogrammed my smart thermostat to work with the new system. Really, how could I ask for more. I would use them again and again, and I'm looking forward to having them out next summer for a look-see to make sure all is good. I recommend them to you, too. read more

The owner Mikhail just completed a final inspection, the system is quiet and working great. My old A/C system had failed and needed to be replaced. I first contacted a large company here in the San Diego area and was quoted a price that was shocking. I live in a 3 story condo complex with the a/c heat pump located on the roof. The "other"company stated they couldn't use the elevator and instead I needed to pay to block off the street and bring in a crane to replace the roof unit. I called Fresh Air Mechanical who assured me a crane was not needed and quoted me a price that was thousands of dollars less than the first company. I contacted Mike when the A/C was not cooling in the condo where we have a tenant. Because he is familiar with the building, it seemed to be a smart move. He was responsive and showed up right on time, communicating effectively along the way. He ran a couple of tests and determined there was a burnt wire and the need for a couple of fuses. This could have easily been a situation where we were told the system needed more than it did, but he was honest, efficient and completed the task quickly. Beyond that, because I had some specific contact and billing information, I followed up with an email, which he obviously read and understood. My particular instillation was very challenging because I in a multiunit condo with my AC Unit on the roof. The roof is not easily accessible and required multiple people to lift the AC unit. Previous AC Repair people would not perform the job, or would give me ridiculous quotes that required a crane. Mike got 2 addition guys to help and lifted the unit to the roof. Great customer service. I use this company for rentals and my personal residence. They have done full duct work and complete upgrades. All work was top notch. Mikhail was at my place a few years ago to fix a furnace that was blowing air but not hot air. It was a simple fix for him - just connecting a broken exhaust duct. He charged me next to nothing :-). It was a fix I couldn't diagnose and do myself. Other HVAC services would have started at $75 for the service call and then gone up from there into the hundreds. I've been that route before, and when some contractors see a home in Mission Hills they up their price by 50% :-( (To compare, when Carini installed a new furnace and charged me top dollar for it a few years back, they left about 20 major problems that needed correcting and they took multiple service calls to get things right because they didn't even fix the problems I had listed (on a typed list with photos) as being problems on their first service call. They missed things like thermostats that were not connected (took there calls), air ducts that were not connected to registers (took several calls), ducting which made sharp turns when a soft turn would have been better, or ducts which were connected to each other with sloppy application of duct tape that left air blowing through seams in the duct tape - multiple calls). I had another small problem with the same furnace yesterday. Mikhail came over the today, fixed it quickly and didn't charge a thing. I gave him a few movie passes, just the same. We first met Mikhail about 3-4 years ago when he was sent by our home warranty company to fix our HVAC. He was always on-time, courteous, and gave us his honest opinion. He worked efficiently and did his best to get our AC repaired as quickly as possible (not always easy when using a home warranty!). We no longer have our home warranty policy and hope to get 1-2 more summers out of our current system and wanted to get it checked out before the heat wave hit. We tried to get in touch with Mikhail through the home warranty information we had saved but did not hear back in a timely manner. We remembered a friend had gotten a new HVAC last summer and LOVED the company/person she used so I asked for a referral. I called and was schedule for the next day and we are happy to say we discovered it was the same person we had been trying to find! We all had a good laugh and he went right to work on our AC. He made a few adjustments and said he felt our system is a good one and will hopefully continue to function as needed for our timeframe, maybe longer. He said he'd be around when we are ready to upgrade but he didn't recommend doing so now as it is a good and functioning system. We are so impressed as we had other "major companies" tell us 3 1/2 years ago when we bought our home, that the system needed to be replaced immediately (for $15,000+!).
