The French Quarter is a great place with so many hearty, traditional New Orleans style food. I've been there twice- the first time I got gumbo which was absolutely amazing. The second time, I ordered their only vegetarian option which was satisfying, but not nearly as good as the non-vegetarian plates. The desserts are probably the best part of their menu with options of Bourbon Chocolate Pecan pie, cornbread, banana foster bread pudding, crème brûlée, and several ice cream options. I definitely recommend if you are looking for a hearty meal before going to the ballet, or want to dine the full-on creole experience! The only two complaints is that it can get pretty loud in the restaurant, and that the vegetarian options could be made better. read more

I so wanted to like this place but it just didn't live up to the reviews. The waitress was kind & friendly, but it went downhill from there. First disappointment the menu online doesn't match the menu that's actually, the available. Includng the QR code on the table. And the waitress apologized. (Management don't be lazy & just update your online dinner menu to match). Disappointment number two, the portion for the fried oysters in particular were sparse for the $23 cost. #3 no fresh oysters nor shrimp and grits on the menu, it's not an authentic New Orleans kind of place, in my opinion. This was the first place we had dinner on our roadtrip from NYC to Boston and I am so glad! It was right down the street from our hotel so super convenient since parking in this area is complete garbage (and that's coming from a NYer...). They followed distancing and were super clean, staff was great and friendly, and the food and drinks were excellent! I had the Creole Jambalaya (very tasty and a huge portion), and my friend ordered the crab sandwich. I also had a daquiri and a french 75 which were AWESOME! Best drinks I had during our entire stay and very reasonably priced. For dessert, despite being happily stuffed, we ordered the bourbon pecan pie... so glad we did because again, it was awesome. Nothing bad to say about this place. Definitely add it to your list of Boston must eats! read more

We had an absolutely amazing experience at the French Quarter Boston! We were a party of 7 and the service was phenomenal!! Our waiter was so engaging and truly out did himself to make sure we were enjoying out time. The food was outstanding--our group got a variety of food--Crawfish mojo, Fish and Chips, Nola Chick Sandwich, Louisiana Sticky Chicken, the Popcorn Shrimp appetizer and everyone raved about their food. The drinks were all beautiful, excellent presentation and taste--the photo attached is the Sparkling Pink Pimm's Cup. All of the food and drinks were a great twist on comfort foods with a taste of Louisiana flavor and spices. Unfortunately they were out of beignets but I guess that just means we will have to go back which I'm not complaining about! I ordered the crab sandwich and my friend ordered the LA hot Chicken. My Crab Sandwich was phenomenal ate it in one setting. The fresh bread, the crab, the remoulade 10/10. Would recommend. I was very excited about this place opening but left disappointed unfortunately. First, we almost past by this place. The frosty effect on the doors make it seem like its still shut down and the banner sign doesn't stand out enough to ground attention. Our service was extremely slow and very unattentive. We went on a Saturday afternoon and were 1 of 3 tables in the whole restaurant, so you would think we would have seen our server more than 2 times...nope. Our order was put in incorrectly, took forever to be corrected, no check ins in between, and then the "corrected" food was still wrong. The food itself was subpar. I ordered the fried oyster poboy which was too greasy, luke warm, and had barely any spicy mayo on it. My fiance ordered the muffaletta which was nothing more than a basic deli sandwich with added olives (yes we knew what it was before ordering it). The crawfish and lasso fritters were okay, but consisted mainly of batter. There is another eview that mentioned a lack of actual cajun spice in the food and I full on agree just with the limit (and very basic) items we ordered. I wanted to be blown away with flavor and sadly was left looking for it in store bought cocktail sauce. Unsure if we'll go back again. read more

The food, drinks, service, and atmosphere are all fantastic, and really give you a genuine taste of the New Orleans culture. I recommend trying both the French 75 and the Crawfish Moniqua. Our server Rafael was terrific and provided us with excellent service and personality throughout our whole meal. We had an opportunity to speak at length with the manager, Ben, who really gave us insight into the restaurant and New Orleans culture. It made our entire dining experience feel much more personable. Fried chicken and red beans and rice and hush puppies. Monday night dinner and it was a slow night in the restaurant for us business travelers. The waiter was attentive and had a big personality but it did not make up for the lackluster not flavorful and burnt hush puppies to dry chicken. Wait.... The red beans had flavor and had a little bite to it and that is why I gave them a passing grade on this review. The other thing that I did not like and it was the only restaurant our entire stay in Boston that we experienced that when you brought the check and you list the different gratuity % that you did it and said this is with sales tax. That is something your restaurant should change because your servers are not paying that tax we are the customer and the fact that you thing they should be tipped off that is just WRONG! You do this and you also asking for 20, 22 or 25% tip that's just being extra greedy. DO BETTER THIS IS WRONG!! read more

Just the place I wanted to visit. Away from the Asian, Italian food scene in Boston. We started with the Voodoo fried okra and the fried oyster. It take skill to get the okra just right and they did here. The oyster was also great not overly smoothers with batter. I had The Gumbo YaYa it was very good. The Smokey flavor was right on. The other entree is the Crawfish Mojo Pasta, this was also well balanced where the saffron didn't cover the crawfish. Last we crawfish etouffee, the combination of the sauce mixed with the crawfish tails and rice was also delicious. I was very skeptical of the 5-star reviews. I figured all of them were from employees or friends of employees, etc. I was wrong. This place is legitimately great. My wife and I decided to give this place a try on a Friday evening for dinner as we're always looking for new, interesting restaurants and this one just happens to be in the neighborhood. The interior décor is really cool. They definitely put effort into making it seem like you're stepping inside an authentic LA (Louisiana, not Los Angeles) restaurant/bar. A lot of great details, murals, decorations. The quality of the décor made me think that it may be the same team behind Yvonne's, Mariel, or Lolita - it's not - we looked it up. For food we started off with the fried okra and shrimp and grits. Both dishes were delicious with plenty of flavor. The shrimp were cooked perfectly which isn't always easy to do. For mains we got the fried chicken and the jambalaya. Again, both dishes were absolutely delicious. The chicken was crispy on the outside but moist on the inside with plenty of flavor. They give you a full chicken as a portion. The jambalaya tasted like home cooking - this is a good thing. Portions were very large so we had to take a good amount of the food to-go. Ended up giving it to some homeless person down the street. For drinks we had white wine and the tequila cocktail. Again, everything was spot on. I'd especially recommend the tequila cocktail - I don't recall the name but it was great. Also, $10 for a great cocktail is (unfortunately) extremely reasonable today. Basically - French Quarter is a great new(ish) spot. We'll definitely be going back and I'd recommend others to check it out as well. And trust the reviews - it really is that good. read more

Great place for kiddos and adults! Best kept secret in the heart of Boston. Kids loved their $5 pasta bowl, was cooked al dente with a hint of cheese (thank u chef for asking!). amazing service here! my dad and I went for my 21st birthday on a Tuesday night and we were half an hour late for our reservation but they were able to seat us right away thankfully. we parked in the public parking garage for the Boston Common Theatre District which was pretty close by. we had a really excellent server whose name I forget but who grew up in Louisiana and gave us personal recommendations and was super kind, charming, and helpful the whole night! probably the best service I've had in Boston. the server recommended the hurricane drink which I had and I liked it! strong, not too sweet, and I had 2. my dad had the black magic manhattan drink which he liked too, very bourbon-y for appetizers we had the onion rings and popcorn shrimp. the onion rings had a very light flaky batter which I enjoyed. the popcorn shrimp were standard but I really liked the sauces that came with both. for entrees, I had the crawfish étouffée made spicier which was good! a nice kick of heat but not overwhelming so I would definitely recommend getting it spicier. I'd never had crawfish before but the crawfish étouffée seemed like a staple dish for Creole and Cajun cuisine and it was good. crawfish itself tastes kind of like shrimp but a little bit like crab or maybe lobster the server recommended louisiana sticky chicken for my dad and he requested it spicy. it was really good, the greens and potatoes that came with it were great too! overall, the place was expensive with entrees coming in around $26-31. but the portion sizes were solid and I left full, drunk, and happy with the service we received! read more
